It was a deep secret you didn't want to come out.

You wanted Dallas to think that he had a perfect girlfriend and you wanted to keep the sad stuff to yourself.

But secrets don't always hide themselves. They always come up to the surface. Whether they are meant to or not.

"Y/N..Why can't you just do it next week?"

Your performance was tomorrow night, you practiced all week and you wanted Dallas to watch.

"Because it would be too late to do it next week."

You spoke quietly and thought about if your relationships would be like the last.. He never wanted to watch your performances. He watched a few but he just shrugged them off like they were nothing.

He didn't understand the tears and frustration you put out just to make it the best for him to watch.

"Well I'm busy tomorrow night. Maybe I'll think about it." He said, taking a puff from his cigarette as he looked at the TV.

He always said that.

"Dallas!" You said, turning off the TV, standing in front of it.

"Hey, what the hell!" He said, sitting up, standing from his seat, walking to the TV.

"I'm sorry. But you don't understand what I go through just for you to push it away! I worked really hard this time, just for you. And you won't even think twice about it."

"I said I'll think about it!" He yelled, throwing his hand in the air.

You winced and shut your eyes tightly. You moved back harshly, making you bump into a table, knocking over your beer glass. You put one hand in front of your face, the other holding onto the edge of the table to keep your figure standing.

Dallas slowly brought his hand down.

"What'd you do that for, huh?" He spoke quietly. He already knew why. He just didn't wanna believe it.

No. He refused to believe it. That someone had hurt his beautiful doll.

"N-nothing. Just tripped." You got stood up straight and walked into your kitchen.

He followed you, right behind you.

"You think I believe that shit? Hell no! You're gonna tell me why the hell you acted like that." He said, and even though his voice was harsh, he grabbed your wrist gently.

"I'm serious, Dally. I tripped over my own feet. You don't even have to go to the performance, Dal. I wont go either." You said, hiding the fact that you were crying.

"Doll, I can't help you if you don't help me. Tell me. I'll go to every performance you have. I just want you to tell me who hurt you." You had him at your mercy. You could tell that he would do anything for you to tell him.

"My ex, (Random punk ass name), was abusive. Just a past relationship that didn't end well. Just old habits. I'm sorry."

He wrapped you in a hug. You could tell he was angry but he never took it out on you.

"No. Don't ever be sorry. I would never put my hands on you. You know that, doll." He kissed your cheek, his eyes tearing up at the thought of someone taking you for granted.

You wrapped your arms around him, your head in the crook of his neck.

The two of you stood in your kitchen like that for a while until you let go.

When you let go, he felt scared that he was gonna lose you.

You realized that you overreacted over the whole performance thing. You didn't even like (flutes, violin, piano, etc.)

"Dally, I'll tell you what. You don't have to go to the performance. I overreacted. I don't even like doing it. We can go out for ice cream tomorrow night, or maybe cause some trouble around town, hm?"

Dallas shook his head, smirking slightly.

"Or we can just stay here together, Watch a movie, and eat some snacks." Truthfully, Dallas just didn't wanna let you go.

You nodded.

But Dallas knew that when he got the chance, he was gonna find the guy that did this to you. And he was gonna kill him.

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you about the songs! I like to take my time to listen to songs atleast a few times because the more I listen to it the more I like it so I waited for a bit to tell you haha :D but anyways...

I loved the Knights Trip album!! It has such a wonderful vibe to it. I played it while cleaning my room and I think I spent more time dancing than actually cleaning lol I had a huge smile on my face while listening to the entirety of it :) Will a 100% play this during dance or gym workouts!

Honestly I liked all the songs, all of them were upbeat and very cheerful...here's a little about a few of the songs ->

Little romance is the absolute cutest song - made me go "awww" on multiple occasions - has the power to cheer me up :)

We'll be "Knights" has a special place in my heart...maybe because that was the first song I heard from the album idk but it has a "Finale group song" vibe to it that I just really love <3

Like I said all of these songs were very good <3 I am actually a huge Lyric Nerd so I love analyzing the lyrics for any song. Unfortunately I wasn't able to find the English translations for the lyrics so I had to miss out on that step this time T-T (I have a feeling the lyrics are really sweet so that's a bummer on my end)

I'm sure as a fan you might have a deeper understanding as well as love for the songs, characters, and singers...but even as a "not (yet) fan" I still found the album really enjoyable to listen to!

abt the songs, little romance TOTALLY IS THE CUTEST SONG EVERRRR full fairytale vibes and with such an adorable and happy rhythm that makes me smile every single time. its so perfect for ritsus center song and it holds a very special place in my heart <3

well be knights is another very dear song to me and a curious case as well bc for months we only had the mv version of the song which is shorter and i feel like they only left there the slower more emotional parts of the song (i really recommend you watch the anime mv) and when i listened to the full version the first time i was SO SHOCKED bc i didnt expect the quicker rhythm or That instrumental dubstep in the middle????? it felt like a completely different song to me but it goes SO hard and i love the full version so much too well be knights my beloved forever. also i find it funny how you say it gives finale group song vibes bc its true its one of the last knights songs weve got and so can give that impression but well be knights is actually knights debut song! its the very first song they ever sang together on a stage (even so that one of the members, tsukasa, hadnt joined them yet and so doesnt sing in this song)

Are you named after anyone? Yep! I'm named after Laura Ingalls-Wilder, the writer of the Little House on the Prairie books. My mom was obsessed with the books and the 70s TV show for some ungodly reason. Fun fact, I hate LHotP with every fiber of my being. I'm fine with my name though.

When was the last time you cried? Oh God, it's been a turbulent few weeks. Pick a time, I've probably cried. 🙈

Do you have kids? No. Wait, let me rephrase that. GOD NO!!!!

Do you use sarcasm a lot? I feel like this question is a trap. I want to speak to my lawyer.

What sports do you play/have you played? I am not a sports person. I guess I have dabbled in the sweaty arts for fun every so often when I've lost my mind, but I've never really played on a team or a in a league or understood most sports on a basic level. Is the Sims a sport?

What’s the first thing you notice about other people? Probably their voice and their tone and the way they ask me what I'm doing in their house.

Scary movies or happy endings? It really depends on what is meant by "scary movies" because I don't do gore at all. Like Saw and shit? Absolutely not. Absolutely. not. But I do like suspenseful supernatural horror movies as long as there isn't much gore involved. I think I prefer movies with happy endings given a choice between only these two but I wouldn't say no to a good old fashioned bittersweet ending.

Any special talents? I can whistle really well. I practice a lot when I'm alone. I don't whistle for other people often because, funnily enough, despite your skill level, people find it incredibly annoying. Actually maybe being annoying is my special talent? 🤷‍♀️ Also I can do this thing where I can vibrate my right face cheek (I have to specify for you freaks) and make a sound like a horse. It's only the right face cheek, not the left. I don't know why.

Where were you born? Virginia! We didn't live there long after I was born so I don't really remember it but I've also lived in North Carolina, Georgia, and South Carolina. Southern through and through!

What are your hobbies? Sims, writing, writing for my Sims, Sim-themed writing, procrastinating writing Sims stories, miscellaneous video games, crafts, complaining, jewelry making (I'm not good at it, don't get excited), researching cults, and fashion doll collecting.

Do you have any pets? Sadly, no. It's kind of a struggle taking care of one person on my income but I'm hoping to save enough to where I can get a kitty or two and be reasonably comfortable with vet bills. I really, really, really love cats. I'm an orphaned cat lady at the moment.

Fave subject in school? English. Honestly liking any subject in school was a struggle because I was homeschooled and my mother is The Worst™ but English and Vocabulary and Creative Writing were my jam despite her best efforts.

Eye colour? Light green, bordering on light blue, but still obviously green if you look close. Kind of sea green, I guess. I've always struggled to describe my eye color and other people do, too. It's weirdly in between green and blue. If I were to remove my glasses and stare at you like 👁👁 you could very clearly see they're green, but otherwise, with my glasses on just looking at me like a normal person, you would be forgiven for thinking they're light blue. I'm not trying to be ✨unique✨ or anything; this is just what happens when your mom has blue eyes and your dad has hazel eyes and genetics just gives the fuck up.

DAY 7 YAYYYYYYYY we going out with a bang here people. this is probably the longest one ive written for this event

today, i went with a crown of flowers upon the head + picnicking among nature’s beauty + a dance of blooming roses ! okay that last one is kinda untrue bc i wrote about tulips instead bc apparently theres a tulip garden in san fran and it's amazing bc tulips are my fave flowers. crazy

this is actually a sequel to my day 2 entry ! you dont have to read that one to get this one but you'll get the references i put here if you do!! also a little disclaimer this one is kinda suggestive. nothing too wild, just a joke and a subtle nudge but yeah. if i could write smut i wouldve done it for these two believe me (not for this week/event but in general)

Queen Wilhelmina Garden is fairly far from where they reside in Haight Street, especially if they are to ride there on Joe’s bike. Luckily for the couple, Joe has a rare moment of pure genius (yet a common moment of money spending for Paper Cut).

A peaceful smile creeps onto Paper Cut’s face, relieved that his lover took his advice to heart. It’s not uncommon since Joe sort of sees Paper Cut as the all-knowing doctor but it does well to remind himself that the biker is as stubborn as Paper Cut himself.

“Wow, you actually bought a car this time around.”

And beautiful it is. Paper Cut does notice something about it though.

“Yeah! Look at her – beautiful, ain’t she?”

“Considering it’s the exact same model as the car you rented that weekend in summer, I’m guessing you got emotionally attached to that car.”

Joe lets out an awkward laugh then falls silent, and so does his smile.

“...We don’t talk about that car.”

Right on the money, Paper Cut thinks. He’ll humor his boyfriend.

“Anyway, shall we get going then?”

A smile that can rival the sunshine instantly makes its way to Joe’s lips.

“Last one to get in the car is a rotten egg!”

“And soooooo Sally can wait…”

“She knows it’s too lateeeee as we’re waaalkin’ on by~”

It’s full-on karaoke mode in that freshly-bought car. Though Paper Cut always insists he won’t sing along (“I’m not as good as you.” “It’s not about being good, babe, it’s about having fun!”), a part of him subconsciously makes him belt out to radio hits either way.

“Man, I love music.”

Paper Cut’s confession prompts Joe to let out a hearty laugh. The freedom in Paper Cut’s singing voice is already proof of that fact but it’s nice to hear it from the man himself. Then Joe has a flashbulb moment.

“I oughta take you out to the disco sometimes.”

“Oh God, no thank you. Too many sweaty people dancing in one small, dark room sounds like a nightmare.”

Joe often attempts to drag Paper Cut into social situations knowing he won’t ever do it himself. As introverted as he is, he’s still a social creature as far as Paper Cut’s concerned.

Joe had expected this response. The reasoning is just a bonus. But his spirit is not broken so easily (which is merely a delicate way of saying he’s stubborn).

“When you put it that way, it sounds like one! Don’t worry baby boy, I’ll make sure you’ll have a good time.”

Paper Cut falls into red, bashful silence at the phrase “baby boy”, cursing himself for being so weak to pet names as such, but especially that one. Joe only smirks, knowing his victory is sealed. After a minute, Paper Cut sighs.

“Okay, but still, I don’t dance.”

Well, now he’s just straight up lying, Joe thinks.

“You did yesterday. I saw you.”

Joe genuinely thinks this is a good argument – it would be if it weren’t for the fact that Paper Cut was not made aware of this fact.

“It is very not nice to peep on people!”

Paper Cut gives Joe’s shoulder a light hit, the blush never leaving his face. Joe manages to scratch the back of his head in shame with one hand.

“Yeah okay, but you looked like you were having a good time!”

“Keep your hand on the steering wheel, dammit!”

The two keep on bantering for the rest of the journey, the radio karaoke forgotten entirely.

They wouldn't say the idea of having a picnic here is anything original but they definitely expected less picnic blankets strewn about. But it's a pleasant sight – friends, couples, families, even individuals are out here surrounding themselves with nature's beauty with sandwiches in hand.

Thankfully, despite the amount of people, the couple still manages to find a spot for just the two of them, a little ways away from the rest of everyone else just in case Paper Cut gets too anxious (and in case Joe wants to initiate some “socially unacceptable” PDA – the two tries not to lament on the fate on couples like them too much).

They start unpacking their lunches – fried rice and fruit juices courtesy of Paper Cut, mineral water and (of course) sandwiches courtesy of Joe.

“Man, you’re out here serving us food like we’re kings meanwhile I just brought us plain-ass water and peanut butter jelly sandwiches like we’re kindergarten kids.”

The exaggeration pulls out a laugh from Paper Cut.

“C’mon, it’s not that serious. As long as it doesn’t kill me, I’ll put it in my mouth. And no, that’s not your cue to joke about you-know-what.”

A pout makes its appearance which Paper Cut ignores in grace, continuing to set up their little picnic spot with a little hum of a radio hit on his lips. With gentle sunlight and the scent of newly-bloomed tulips embracing the couple, Paper Cut feels like he’s a budding plant himself.

They start digging into their food; Joe sees this as a prime opportunity to gossip about the going-ons of their neighbors and the neighborhood kids while Paper Cut relishes in people-watching from their place.

At some point, Joe, being the kinaesthete that he is, gets up to walk around the garden but not without a quick heads-up to Paper Cut. Paper Cut, on the other hand, takes this as his cue to dominate the picnic blanket and lie down as if he’s making a snow angel (a picnic blanket angel, maybe). He soaks up the sun while he can, before he eventually retreats into his “man cave” as some locals have described his residence.

He tries to gain some inspiration from the springing of mother nature that surrounds him. Grass greener than the other side, the rows and rows of tulips in different hues reminiscent of a Holland rainbow, laughter tickling his sensitive ears, and skies as blue as his lover’s gentle eyes. Paper Cut never thought it was possible to feel this alive. Should this even be a bandage? It is an emotion so heavenly that it may transcend corporealness.

“Enjoying yourself, arent’cha?”

All things come to an end, yes, but beautiful things can begin right after. Joe snaps his boyfriend out of his trance with his teasing voice and the beautiful skies he has for eyes. In addition, he comes bearing gifts, which he then proceeds to rain down on his boyfriend who’s in the process of sitting up. Literally.

“What the–”

He is met with a shower of flowers and their healthy green stems, in which he tries to shield his face from by dropping his head and raising his hands, forming futile gates. Joe giggles and as he sits down, utters a quick apology for the prank. Paper Cut doesn’t take his teasing to heart but he pretends to sulk anyway, prompting his lover to elaborate on the sudden appearance of flowers separated from their fields and gathered on their picnic blanket.

“There’s a bunch of stray flowers around so I just hoarded them for no reason. But then this really nice lady taught me how to make flower crowns for them so that kinda took a bit of my time. You don’t mind, right?”

Paper Cut gives his lover a small laugh at his recount of his little walk. It’s difficult to get mad at this guy.

“Not at all. It’s very ‘you’ to already be making friends out here.”

Joe guiltily rubs a hand on the back of his head either way, offering an apologetic smile. His boyfriend merely shoots him a knowing glance.

“So lemme guess… you wanna try making flower crowns with me?”

Paper Cut starts to fiddle with a flower, staring at it curiously. He doesn’t have any kind of flower crown knowledge or experience so it’ll make for an interesting activity.

“Yeah! We can make them for each other!”

Joe is beaming once more. If the sun ever feels like retiring, Joe can easily fill in the vacancy.

“Haha, alright then.”

Well, at least he can say he tried his best?

For a first attempt, he’d say it’s not that bad. His demons are fighting amongst themselves to whisper in his ear that it could’ve been better while Paper Cut himself basks in the simplicity of having had fun making the flower crown.

“You finished?”

Paper Cut looks up from where his crown lay in his lap at the question and merely nods, a bit shy to show off his creation. Meanwhile, Joe raises his own like a well-earned trophy.

“Ta-da!”

The boundless wonder in his eyes can only make Paper Cut smile tenderly, matching the demure nature of the flower crown Joe made – all pale pink and yellow tulips, it’s a color combination that Paper Cut thinks is spring itself.

“It’s beautiful.”

“Not as beautiful as you.”

That is all he can muster up to say aloud. There is a proud twinkle in Joe’s eyes that eventually transitions into an affectionate one, once he places the flower crown on his boyfriend’s head.

Paper Cut is as red as the flowers on his lap now and he averts his gaze out of embarrassment. A light chuckle escapes his lover’s lips but he doesn’t say anything else.

“W-Well… I made this. It’s not as good as yours but…”

The blushing boy somehow manages to mutter and, still without looking at his lover, outstretches his hands to show Joe his flower crown. It is a dance of crimson tulips, and Joe can feel Paper Cut’s deep love and passion in his creation.

“Cut… this is the prettiest thing I’ve ever laid my eyes on. Aside from you, I mean.”

That manages to bring a laugh out of Paper Cut, his embarrassment subsiding slightly. He rises to his knees as Joe leans down to aid him in placing the crown on his head. They both laugh this time and Joe makes the first move to revert to his original position, allowing the flower crowning ceremony to resume.

They then proceed to gaze into each other’s eyes, both enamored by each other and unsure of what to do next with all this tension. But as usual, Joe initiates – once the two of them are within suitable proximity, he leans in for a delicate kiss. Paper Cut takes a second to overcome his shock and then reciprocates.

The world around seems to dissolve as they kiss and as Joe shifts to lay Paper Cut down. The former leans down once more to plant more kisses which the latter returns with no hesitation. Mother Nature sways in a sudden breeze, as if to shield them from prying eyes.

It is until Paper Cut lets out a little noise that clarity hits him like a truck. He instantly puts a hand between his face and Joe’s to stop him from continuing.

“Okay okay okay, I think that’s enough. We’re in public, remember?”

He insists as he watches Joe’s consciousness snap back into place as well. Joe only sighs, whether satisfied with their little love session or discontent that he was interrupted, Paper Cut doesn’t know. But it’s a reminder much needed for the both of them.

“It’s easy to forget when I’m around you, really.”

This time Paper Cut only rolls his eyes in amusement. His lover truly takes any chance to charm him to death.

“Corny.”

Joe guffaws as he pulls Paper Cut to sit up together.

“You like it though.”

Paper Cut lets out a brief “hah”, now leaning on Joe’s shoulder. Joe follows suit.

“I didn’t say I didn’t like it.”

They enjoy each other’s company for the remainder of the afternoon until they eventually have to head home (“Actually, can we stop by a mosque on the way home? It’s getting kind of late.” “Honey, you should’ve told me earlier, I’d hate for you to miss your prayer because of me!”). More bantering and singing ensue in their little car, with the addition of another kissing session once they’re actually home. But perhaps, home is wherever and whenever they’re together.

Spring is the season for the new, and the flower crowns that adorn their home walls mark the beckoning of a new chapter for the couple.

This is impossible I have too many softies,, But probably Lucy! She's a pacifist and just has the biggest heart, she's very empathetic and always wants to help people even if there is nothing she can do in a situation. She also is just very soft in nature like she has a gentle touch and soft voice and sweet eyes that will make u cry and tell her all ur problems while she holds u.

I have a few of these too lol I'd say it's a tie between Michael, Silas (Eldritch horror slasher) or Pheonix (Marvel OC besties with Wade). Silas probably wins because he doesn't tolerate talking to humans in any circumstance and just seeing him tends to send people running. Silent, brooding, grumpy eldritch horror man my beloved.

I have a sentient AI OC called HEXX and he has knowledge from all across the galaxy (being an AI for a spaceship he needs it lol) so I'd say that'd be him! I just have to say how much I really love how you write Arthur 🥺 I’ve probably read them all, and they match his vibe so well.

Some examples of my faves~ MC too depressed to get out of bed? That’s one of my go-to comfort fics. Midnight Impulses? Chef’s kiss. Truly rent free.

And so back when you had commissions open, I immeeediately hopped on it… give or take 30 minutes 😅 and I was stoked to have another go-to Arthur comfort fic I could lean on.

There was a moment when I was rereading it that I kinda just “huh… I know it’s ‘Arthur’ saying this but really it’s Scum giving me really solid advice rn as the author” and it broke my brain for a lil while. The same thing happened with Uncomposed Sorrows. It was kinda like a friend giving a word-hug to others who are stressed tf out.

(I may have reread Uncomposed Sorrows earlier today. I may have also gotten a lil emotional about it again. Hard to say.)

But idk, I think your ability to write great comfort fics is pretty rad. It’s a special kind of empathy, and my god does it seem vulnerable (I still haven’t talked myself into posting any). But I can vouch for yours helping me feel better during ~the sads~. I also want to mention that you’re always kind and empathetic, even when it’s just chatting, and that’s also pretty rad.

i don't know if you *want* a behind the scenes for those stories, because I understand that the disconnect of 'this is Arthur saying this' verses 'this is Scum saying this' may sort of strip some of the fun from the stories, so feel free to ignore this part:

for the 'Mc too depressed to get out of bed' fanfic, and Uncomposed Sorrows, both of those were. well, I was depressed! The bed one I was holed up in bed for a few days in an awful depression fit, and then for the other I was very, very, very frustrated at myself for being unable to write. When I get in these moods (thankfully, the first one not happening for a few years), i do try to think of my favorite characters witnessing me in such a state, or. loosely an oc. and consider how they may react and how they would help. In both of those, i imagined Arthur would know the telltale signs of depression, how awful it can get, mixed in with a few other issues. I imagined that he's likely very experienced with both as well, especially since he has ptsd.

Arthur in those served as a voice of reason I needed to hear in those moments, or the voice of distraction- some kinda reminder that things are fine, and so that's what I imagined when I was upset. and I wrote those out usually in the moment to help distract myself, and that may be why they sound very vulnerable! because I was very upset when I wrote those. writing them helped me process the emotions and accept that, well, if it was a fave chara who could relate to what I was goin through telling me these things, then it made it easier to swallow and accept.

In a way, it is also me giving advice, even if it is Arthur saying it, and in a way, it is arthur giving advice I feel like he may try to give in these scenarios.

thank you for your questions, they are always so interesting to think about ! i believe that when i write for toji i reach a lot into a deep part of me (??). he's a bit gruff in my head but overall just a reserved guy. i like to think about his past and how it has affected his character, if he's pleased with how he's turned out, if he's conflicted with thoughts of all that he could've been . . . i tend to find common ground with my own character but try to center the text around his own voice and how he would word it or act . . . i try to make him as layered as i see him ! just a lonely child underneath it all, trying to keep safe all the love he can get (reader's if i'm writing non-selfship).

across every universe and every fanfic and every situation, my toji communicates through actions. he's awkward and clumsy, a bit shy but confident in his work (and very insecure about his way of loving, i feel like he'd find himself thinking "oh my god what the fuck am i doing" like thirty times a day). there's something very comical to me about how he navigates the world. he's this Huge Guy with the emotional stability and beating heart of a little kid. i just feel like he has a lot to give, even though he thinks he's too rough to give it.

Putting aside Berrien, it'll be such a plot twist if Fennesz get demonized next because everyone (mostly) is predicting butler from either the 3rd floor or the basement to be the center in the next episode's stage 👀 If I remember correctly, Fennesz is currently the one who notices Berrien's different 'aura' when he asked about Haures' demonisation at the end of episode 2...? It would be great if he could play an important role in the future, episode 3 or not, because of that 🤔

I take it this is the announcement you mentioned, right?

I'm so excited about the next episode too. It's going to be distributed throughout the entirety of the year 2023, it seems? I certainly can't wait to be emotionally devastated once again. Episode 2 was really, really great, wasn't it? 😊

Since we're still in the topic of official announcement... I'd like to go off tangent a bit and talk about the third bullet point. It said, if my understanding is correct, the implementation of full voice acting in episode 2 and and episode 2.5 will be the last ones that come free. From there onwards, they will come into two parts, free and paid ones. Seems like we'll need to pay an additional fee if we want to unlock the voice...? I'm not entirely sure about this one actually. Anyone with a better grasp of Japanese feel free to correct.

I mean, I'm happy if Akuneko's doing well financially and the people who contribute to it, illustrators and voice actors alike, are getting paid well. On the other hand, as a money-wise poor af person, I'm anxious I won't be able to buy it... 😭 I doubt it will come cheaply after all

Moving on to Berrien, this is the tweet that speculated the right/left hand gesture, isn't it? I'm putting a link a there just in case someone either hasn't seen it/wants some context.

I think we all will cry if Berrien hates us 😂 but it's such a delicious theory, an unprecedented move from a joseimuke game should it ever come true. I mean, the most loving, kind-looking male cast that genuinely hates and/or betrays the players at a certain point??? If Akuneko does that, hats off for the bravery. I don't know if they will be able to pull such move though, given the risk of losing players is too big.

And, oh, I'll cry with you too, that's for sure 😭 I also love Berrien too muchー if anything , he is the reason I play Akuneko. But then again I live off the angst and the drama... Well, don't we all, though 😂

so first off, the elephant in the room: yes, there are some highly questionable elements of the plot that make me go “hmm! :/“ (to somewhat quote mean girls: “marie therese, step away from the underaged teenagers!”). for the purposes of not driving myself mad, i will try to refrain from discussing these for the remainder of the report.

anyway.

this music sings. this music delights. still not my fave strauss opera by any means but i would be lying if i wasn’t delighted. the presentation of the rose and the final trio and duet gave me full-body chills. i love the waltzes. so sugary sweet like the gelato i got after the show. there are so many golden little details in the score.

simone young did a great job imo—i’ve seen her get flak online about this run of performances but i don’t get it. she was great. the orchestra and chorus and many comprimarios were all fabulous.

it’s been a while since i’ve seen this production and it holds up really well!!! love the costumes and sets. LOVE them. not a fan of the wwi ending tho—just let octavian and sophie have their moment at long last 🥺 plus it doesn’t fit with the ending musically.

one other thing about the staging: i’m sure this was intentional but goddamn, a lot of the second act was UNCOMFORTABLE to watch, like make your skin crawl uncomfortable (and it did not help that several men in the audience at my theater were full-on laughing when ochs all but assaulted sophie all over that extended act ii sequence when he first shows up at faninal’s). god, baron ochs is such a fucking creep. and while i don’t like him as a person in the slightest, i have to hand it to günther groissböck for making ochs supremely unlikeable while still singing with strong command.

among the comprimarios and non-credited-in-the-intro people, special mention of alexandra lobianco (an excellent marianne) and tony stevenson (an absolute delight as the innkeeper in drag).

speaking of which, gotta say that even with them in new york and me in oklahoma, it was somehow comforting to see people in drag and same-sex kisses in this, given the political climate and the rising sentiments against drag and lgbtqia+ people. i thought about that a lot during the broadcast.

katharine goeldner and thomas ebenstein were HOOTS as annina and valzacchi. love them. rené barbera made the italian singer’s aria sound effortless (and looked GREAT in his white suit). brian mulligan did a great job as herr von faninal—i’d love to hear him in something italian though, his voice sounds made for italian rep.

and now for the three leading ladies, who were all divine both separately and together.

erin morley is one of my fave currently active sopranos right now and this sophie showed exactly why: voice like a dream, great actress, warm, intelligent, full of fire! i love her take on sophie so much. she GETS it. (and i may or may not have cheered when she slapped ochs in act ii.)

lise davidsen is another of my fave currently active sopranos right now (albeit a more recent discovery than erin morley) and her marschallin surprised me in a good way. what i remember most from her ariadne auf naxos hd last year was simply how stunningly powerful and beautiful and BIG her voice was, but this was equally amazing in a totally different way: she can rein it in too, baby! she can be so delicate and tender too and it just mesmerized me totally (and brought tears to my eyes a few times). and she made the part feel and look so natural! great singer and great actress? (and also gorg)—she’s the total package.

i was barely, if at all, familiar with samantha hankey before this but holy FUCK. she won my heart immediately. she is just a total delight and absolutely the real deal. that voice!!! it’s so creamy and beautiful and full of light!!! (and she can alter it at will too—her mariandel voice was SO different and so delightful). and she’s a totally natural actress, INCREDIBLY versatile and moving. octavian is a HUGE role and a VERY VARIED role and she totally fuckin nailed it and i want to see her in basically everything now. mark my words, y’all: she’s sensational. she’s gonna be the next big mezzo superstar.

anyway 10/10 plot weirdness inherent to the opera aside this is a definite recommend

DUDE IT’S SO GREAT!!!! i watched one episode and i was immediately hooked! i was like that one gordon ramsey meme where he goes “finally some good fuckin food” because the writing, the acting, the directing, the characters, everything’s so well done 🤩! the characters, man… i gotta talk about the characters! they’re so interesting. they really don’t shy away from making deplorable sinister villains that aren’t one dimensional. the corinthian, lucifer, heck even johnny made me want to keep watching (but then again i’m always a sucker for good villains). as for my favorite characters in general, death of the endless was so cool! i love the contrast between being the personification of death, a concept that is so terrifying to humans, and the way she’s so bright and kind and warm and a good sister. matthew the raven is a gem i needed more of that funky little guy. but my favorite has to be dream! he’s so ethereal, like his soothing voice and the way he talks sets him apart from everyone else. and yet even tho he’s kind of a god, he’s also stubborn and grumpy and bad at seeing the error of his ways which is funny to watch (he’s still got a soft side tho ☺️). love all the queerness, too. ppl were not kidding when they said it was made for the gays <3 i may or may not be scrolling through the dreamling tag on ao3 (don’t even get me started on dream and hob. they’re SOOOOOOOO… so good for each other 🥺💖. i see them sit down and softly smile at each other after centuries and it’s like an arrow went through my heart)

so yeah i’m really glad i gave this show a chance! i’m so picky when it comes to starting new shows and i’m always dropping things after a few eps (i blame the bad attention span) but this one sunk it’s claws into me and i’m very excited for season 2 😂

English isn't my first language so I'm sorry if my answer's all over the place. (^^;)

Usually when I play otome game I tend to go after characters that have the same personality as Harry and avoid characters like Teo. But I ended up liking Teo more than Harry. Most of the time, especially on Cloudi - Burny, I wanna punch him in the face. I'm sorry Harry Stans. I just don't like the way he treated both Joseph and Teo during MoM Arc. It left a huge impression on me. He's tough to love but his story tho its *chefs kiss*. The writing, pacing of the story, translation and his character development they're better than Teo's. Eventhough I'm not a fan his, I don't hate him tho, I definitely love his story. The involvement of other characters, especially Angel and Piu Piu, and constant use of I can see your voice made it more interesting. Majority of the players doesn't like the forced confession, well I dont like it too but I think that confession made Harry realize/think how he really feel about the MC. I think if the MC did not confess it might take another 100 days for Harry to confess/realize his feelings since he doesnt know what the MC really feels. Well I don't mind since I love slowburn. He gets better on Pi - Momint tho. He treats the MC better and only the MC. 🤣 And I find him cute on Day 100.🤭 Anyways I'm looking forward to his future updates now that he and MC are in a relationship.

If this game was released a few years earlier, like 5 -6 years or maybe 10. I might have ended up liking Harry more than Teo. Because the younger me was definitely into characters like Harry. 🤣 Obocchan + Kuudere. Well I still do I guess? In fact my all time fave chara, eventhough I try to hide it, is kind of like Harry. It's Tsukimori Len from Kin'iro no Corda.

Definitely characters. I write because I want to explore things about my faves and spend some time in their heads. Plotting feels like a necessary evil lol, because I'm not into writing abstract character studies, I want the characters to do stuff. But god it's easily the worst part for me. Figurative language is up there too though, it's fun to come up with a good metaphorical description. Your comments are definitely some of my favourites frankly lmao 💖 But generally I love to hear what people get out of my stories, intellectually and/or emotionally. Like what they enjoyed about it, how it made them feel, what choices made them go 'yesss,' etc.

And I know these are writing asks but I also want to add for vids specifically: I loooove when people point out specific editing choices/techniques they liked. Like I had one youtube comment on a Berserk vid point out a series of blood drops I timed to a drum rhythm by cutting out a few frames here and there and I was just like 🥺thank you so much for noticing🥺

Of course I love and greatly appreciate any and all positive feedback always, but yeah if I'm getting specific then these types of comments make me really flail.

💌share something with us about an up-and-coming work (WIP) that has you excited!

lol this one was hard to answer bc I'm kind of in a slump right now in terms of my wips. But I'm at 50 pages (!!!!) and getting close to the end of Army Style which is def exciting, and I thiiink I've come up with the climax and essential thematic point of the story, if I can pull it off. Basically focusing on Potter as the good cop to the rest of the army's bad cop, and how that's what clinches Hawkeye's negative character shift, even moreso than the threats.

Here have an excerpt:

Sherm watched him go, hoping this wasn't gonna be the last he'd see of the life of the not-quite party that was the four oh double seven.

"Well," he said, "you have your assignments. It's time for me to make some phone calls." He slapped his knees perfunctorily and stood up. The other two followed suit and they went their separate ways.

He started with Sidney. A signed statement from him could take a day or two to reach Seoul, so the sooner he sent it the better - would've been best three days earlier when he’d asked if it might be necessary, but he supposed he couldn't blame Hawkeye for not wanting to admit that his name could be out there, considering what he was going through now. As much as he considered Hawkeye a friend, he was still his commander first and foremost, and that was the way it ought to be.

Once Radar got through he picked up the phone at his desk. 

“Always a pleasure, Sherm,” said the voice on the other end, “assuming you’re calling to schedule the next poker night.”

“‘Fraid not, Sidney. I need your professional advice. Our favorite captain’s gotten himself into trouble.”

“When’s it due?” 

He rubbed the bridge of his nose wearily. Lord save him from comedians. “Very funny,” he said, in a tone that he hoped conveyed exactly how much he was laughing. 

“All right, what’s the trouble?” Sidney conceded.

“Hawkeye’s just been hauled off to Seoul H.Q. to be investigated for degeneracy.”

“Ah,” came Sidney’s less-than-fruitful response. 

He filled him in on the details. “So what do you think? I was hoping you’d be willing to sign a statement on his behalf, but is there anything you can do besides?”

“Oh sure, I’ll write a letter.” The words came slow and steady, like Sidney was considering everything he said carefully. “I know a few of my colleagues down there so I can make a call too. Not sure how much good it’ll do if someone named him.”

“Near as I can tell it was a name once-removed, if that’s any help. A… friend of a friend of Hawkeye’s put his name on a list. Hawk’s swearing up and down that the kid was just handing over any name he’d ever heard the guy mention.”

“Do you believe him?” 

“I don’t think that matters, now, does it?” 

“If you say it doesn’t, then it doesn’t.” A sigh crackled across the line. “You know, if this was the old days, I’d just fly down there myself and do the paperwork to clear him. Now that could cost me my job.”

Sherm scowled into the middle distance. Maybe he shouldn’t blame Hawkeye; maybe his optimism had just been a decade out of date. He’d known the higher ups were stepping up the blues the last few years, but that was usually how it went in peacetime. He’d figured they’d cut it out while the war was on. But if even Sidney thought he might lose Hawkeye for good… “Is it really that bad?” he asked.

“It’s not good. But in Hawkeye’s case it’s hard to say. If he was a private it’d be over already, but a surgeon… especially one with his record - he’s got a good chance. It really just depends on who’s making the decision. But I’ll make a call or two and see what I can do to help from here. And I’ll send that statement tonight.” 

“Thanks, Sid. I owe you one.” 

“I’ll collect it in chips next time I come by the Swamp.” 

Sidney hung up, and Sherm kept the receiver up to his ear. Sure enough, there was still faint breathing on the other end. “Radar, get me General Imbrie,” he said, relishing the surprised yelp. It was time to start making a fuss until he got his chief surgeon back.

I refuse to call her volleyball sorry ) and do you approve of it? This ship was biiig after the movie came out and I’ll admit I was a small part of the crowd 💦 The appeal of two people who never even interacted hurt in different ways by the same person who find each other and help each other heal is just really 🥺😭😖 If you know what I’m saying. And they’re both silly and goofy! They enable each other’s weirdness. I actually wrote a bit of fic about them back then. Anyway I also just really love Spinel. Her, Pink Pearl and Amethyst are my favorite characters. Ok enough of my rambling. What are yooour favorite ships from the show?

I should look up more content of them, they seem like a really fun dynamic!!! ALSO REAL I LOVE AMETHYST SO MUCH THE GIRLIE!!! Her development is great throughout the series, I especially love the role she plays in Future with being the voice of reason and helping Steven realize some stuff

Also omggg my favorite ships!!! I have quite a few, I’ll list them down below and talk about them:

Pearlnet - this one is my absolute fave tbh like I didn’t think I would be a huge fan of it, but I enjoyed their dynamic so much in the show!!! Like that whole mini arc with Sardonyx and the conflict between them??? Still one of my favorite parts in the whole series. Idk I just really like how they’re the two who have been there since the beginning. They’ve stuck together throughout the gem war and share similar trauma, and just seeing them have so much respect for the other is just aughhh it’s so good!!! I got so happy when they hugged after seeing the corrupted gems get uncorrupted in the finale, that was so sweet 🥺

Pearlrose - I don’t think I have to explain this one much lmao, it’s just peak yuri I love it. The one thing I will way is that I hate how people misinterpret this ship so much, like I wish people had a brain cell when it came to understanding that their relationship was far from one-sided and “manipulative” :/ like Pearl was the whole goddamn reason Rose became the person she was. They showed each other freedom from beyond their gem roles, and that just feels so impactful to me like, their whole relationship makes up a huge part of the core of Steven Universe imo so idk, I just wish people understood it better

Rupphire - MY GIRLIES I LOVE THEM AAAAAAAAAAA I COULDNT STOP SCREAMING WHEN THE WEDDING EPISODE WAS HAPPENING FR I WAS SO HAPPY LIKE THEYRE JUST SO IN LOVE IR MAKES ME AUGHHHH

Lapidot - THEIR DYNAMIC IS GREAT they are like an old married couple, and just seeing them live together and stuff and finding a home in the barn with their pumpkin dog was adorable 😭🥺❤️ I love how they grow closer and they actually care about each other a lot. Also that part in Distant Shore where Peridot is the one to walk through her first??? The line where she doesn’t understand how Peridot can be so bold and switch sides so easily and not be afraid of the Diamonds anymore??? AUGHHH THAT PART HURT ME SO MUCH 😭 it’s clear that they do admire each other for what they themselves don’t have, and that’s so interesting to me. On the surface, they seem so different, but they actually do complement each other very well surprisingly! And I like that a lot
