Hi Belle! For the prompt ask, Diana/47:
2. “Did you know you talk in your sleep?”
Rated G, featuring two awkward idiots in love, pre-romantic relationship
--
The new safehouse in Vlissingen is tiny, even by Dutch standards, but it's a stone's throw from the harbour, offering them direct access to the North Sea. With three small bedrooms available, and no-one wanting to sleep in the postage stamp-sized living room, two of them had to share. And since 47 and Diana had been working together the longest of them all, they drew the short straw, in exchange for getting the largest room.
Diana didn't mind. Since 47 needed much less sleep than she did, she went to bed before he did. By the time her alarm went off, he was already on his morning run. She joined him once a week, but in general, she fell asleep and woke up alone, the other side of the bed always pristinely made. If it weren't for the red tie hanging from the wardrobe door and the faintest hint of his cologne lingering in the room, she would have believed he was staying somewhere else.
Which is why it startled her to wake up and find 47 next to her, laying on top of the covers in a t-shirt and pyjama bottoms, reading an ebook on his phone.
"47? What time is it?"
He stared at Diana for a moment, seemingly just as surprised to see her awake.
"It's 05:36," he replied.
"No run this morning?" she asked, the final syllable ending in a yawn. She turned onto her side to face him.
"It's raining," 47 explained.
"And so now you're reading here in silence instead?" When 47 shot her a funny look she couldn't place, Diana asked: "What?"
"Do you know you talk in your sleep?" 47 swiped to the next page of his book. Diana felt her cheeks heat up in embarrassment.
"Oh no..." She muttered. "I thought I had left that habit in the eighties."
"Not quite," 47 replied. Was that a hint of amusement to his tone?
"Please tell me it's nothing too embarrassing," Diana pleaded, draping her forearm over her eyes for dramatic effect.
"It's...mainly my name."
"Oh."
"Yes." He awkwardly cleared his throat.
"I'll...try to get some more sleep now," Diana decided. Her heart was pounding in her chest.
"I'll be here."
