Summary: Atlas has been learning a lot in the first few weeks after she was born. Unfortunately, what she's learning may not be what she needs to know to take care of her very stubborn Captain.

Comments: I really just wanted to read about sentient Atlas, but so many of those fics are essentially the ship playing matchmaker. This story is no different, but what made it stand out is how Atlas follows the letter of Shiro's wishes and not the spirit of it, essentially polling crew if they believe Shiro and Keith like each other. There's also the touch of angst where Keith believes Shiro is just gently putting him down, but the real thing is that his confession was to the clone and Shiro's memories from the clone are fuzzy. I loved that bit of worldbuilding, and Atlas's no-chill, what's privacy? vibes.

(#Sheith) Plot loop 

(inspired by resetting lady in kakao webtoon)

TW: drama, suicide /self-harm,depression, attempted suicide, depiction of death, murder

Keith has been stuck in the inferno loop of the Voltron story so many times that he remembers every detail and everything. When the story ends, Keith loops back to 'after' the day he first met Shiro and plays the main story again. And every time the loop came around, there would be a 'silver coin' engraved with a number in his mouth. But in some loops, he died prematurely by 'other people', for example, in the 3rd loop, Lance pushed Keith down the stairs, breaking his neck to death due to jealousy in his abilities. (He just wanted to prank Keith, but Keith fell down the stairs, so his neck broke and died on the spot) (James Griffin tried to reach out and grab him, but couldn't catch him) Loop 10 sacrificed himself, crashing into the ship to death. Loop 24 was killed by Kuron (actually Kuron tried to help because he was conscious, but in the end he fell to the ground and died anyway) Loop 31 was killed by Allura because of both carelessness. (It's the moment when Keith just learned that he's Galra) Loop 45 He was stabbed to death by Lorter in front of everyone Loop 62 He was poisoned while eating alone by Sanda's hands. Loop 72, he was killed by Sendak etc.

Until the 102nd loop, Keith decided not to follow the original story. and aims to become a murderer who has killed everyone who has ever hurt him. But at the same time trying to help people who can help like Adam and Shiro whom he sincerely loves. But for the first time started as a murderer by plotting to kill Lance. Keith is searched by Shiro and Iverson and finds him plotting to kill someone. So he picked up a marmora knife and cut his own neck to death in front of both of them. Shiro tried to remove his cloak to stop the bleeding on Keith's neck, but failed. Keith dies in his arms

Shiro just realized in the next loop (103)(gets some memory back) that Keith got stuck in the loop and got killed until now his heart is broken so he tries hard to save Keith.

Well, it's been a week since it was announced Voltron Legendary Defender will be leaving Netflix forever on December 7, 2024. Most people understand that this is on Dreamworks wanting to retain show copyright, not mean old Netflix trying to take shows away from violent fandoms.

That being said, I don't see master licensor WEP being all that upset about it. If anything, I see them welcoming the idea of Legendary Defender becoming lost media. Like, jumping for joy since it was the one thing standing in the way of potentially making billions.

For better or worse, the Voltron movie has been earmarked as a big deal in Hollywood. When the rights were first opened up, there was a bidding war between no less than six studios, including heavy hitters like Warner Bros and Universal.

Now Amazon MGM Studios ultimately won that war, and with set construction occurring on the Gold Coast of Australia right now, they are full steam ahead with this movie being ready for 2026. Bonus, with Transformers One doing meh business at the box office, there is now a big giant robot-shaped hole at the box office since the Robots in Disguise will likely be taking a few years off from theaters to reset (whether they leave the sinking ship that is Paramount is another conversation). This is a hole Voltron could easily fill, and potentially get Amazon MGM their first billion-dollar box office ever (their biggest box office successes for the young studio were Creed III and The Beekeeper). And given Amazon MGM is also making a Masters of the Universe film, they're clearly looking at big, but inert IP to make a box-office impact now that superhero movies are in a downturn and Transformers is presumably going on a break.

One thing, however, stands in their way of making all the money, besides you know, the script being good. And that thing is Voltron Legendary Defender, which still has a very negative reputation among casual viewers, but also a very hardcore fandom that loves its ships, its representation, and will probably be hounding Amazon MGM at every step of the process, starting from Step 1, a promise from executive producer Bob Koplar at VoltCon 2023 that the series would be based on the original anime, and would not use any of the names from Legendary Defender like Keith, Lance, and Shiro. From a fandom that was pretty adamant that they wanted to push harder for more rep in any potential sequel series and was opposed to any sort of "whitewashing", this is probably a non-starter for them.

So how do you get rid of that negativity and make all the money? Easy! Delete Legendary Defender from the internet. Forever.

With VLD going away, and no one in any real hurry to put it up (I doubt Dreamworks wants to advertise a big-budget movie from Amazon MGM, even inadvertently), Amazon MGM will have the ability to make a big-budget super robot movie with nary a mention of Klance, Shieth, or why the princess is a blonde woman. Since VLD's writers didn't want to make a giant robot show in the first place, you can bet that the movie will likely be filled with giant robot punching to further emphasize the difference.

So one week later, it appears more certain than ever that VLD is going away forever, and everyone is rather happily nudging it along to its doom, after which point they will likely pretend the series never existed.

pardon me bc truthfully I nearly shat myself seeing a vld related ask (that's actually about fandom) in my inbox in 2023 BUT I will answer your question regardless altho I think you're mistaking the comment on that post I rb'd as me saying it bc it was actually op who left that explanation of what all those phrases meant so those were op's words

howeverrrrr I DO hate sheith 😊 bc of several reasons. it starts with the age gap and how old the two characters were when they hypothetically met (which I don't remember exactly bc it's been ~5yrs since I watched this show and also I've read too many fanfics of TA shiro meeting 14-16yo keith) but in theory it would've been mid teens keith and early-mid 20s shiro.... so like a mid high schooler (teenager) and someone who could have finished their undergrad maybe even a masters (adult with a fully formed frontal lobe).... and then by the time of the series keith is 18yo now (I somehow remember this fact) putting shiro in mid-late 20s.... both are scenarios that make me recoil with disgust

EDIT: while looking for the pics I put at the end of answering this ask I found these which you know decide for yourself how old they were when they met but personally I think keith looks very baby like barely high school but more middle maybe even elementary school?

another reason is what their relationship was already established as bc keith was this student turned drop out and shiro was an alumni / TA / teacher at the garrison (again, I don't fully remember) who took keith under his wing and mentored and took care of him. regardless of what his title was with the garrison, shiro was an adult that keith trusted and looked up to which would y'know scream power imbalance and predatory when you try to write in romance

and finally.... these:

not just one but TWO canon pieces of dialogue where keith calls shiro his brother. (first pic from s2 so VERY early in the vld timeline and second pic from after s5 probably but I'm not sure bc I had stopped watching at that point) so like not only is shiro his mentor or teacher or most trusted adult in his life after being orphaned but he's also his whole ass adopted family brother

basic opinions;

- show should have ended at s6 episode 7

- hunk’s character is extremely fatphobic

- shieth is a fail ass ship

- the writing is either sooo good or absolute dogshit depending on arc/episode, no in between

- klance wasn’t as supported by the show as everyone thought it was as it was airing, BUT! that doesn’t mean it wasn’t queerbaity as fuck the way they did everything, and it’s still my prime ship

- lotor was a very well written villain

- the major issue with the show was the overpopulation of major characters

- shiro should have died for real after the zarkon fight. i love him, but that deviation ruined a lot of the show’s potential

- i’d argue pidge’s character was more queerbaity than klance was in a lot of ways

- tldr voltron nasty horrible bad but good lord am i still obsessed with it. oh well

You know what, I put al my thoughts in the tags but I have so much more to say about this so EDIT, i'm putting my thoughts here instead of studying for my math final that I have in 2 days.

Klance was 10000% queerbait but I only blame the producers for it. The creative team was put through HELL because the producers couldn't decide on a course of action to take after Dreamworks forced them to keep Shiro alive instead of killing him off permanently like they originally planned. (There is a fantastic video essay about some of the behind the scenes drama that was uncovered. I'll link to it here. The creator of the essay was a Shieth shipper so you know I mean it when I say its a good video essay)

(NO HATE TO SHIETH SHIPPERS PLEASE DONT INTERPRET THAT AS ME DUNKING ON THEM. YES I DON'T LIKE SHIETH BUT I WISH NO ILL WILL ON ANY SHIETH SHIPPERS)

Anyway, Dreamworks made the VLD creative team keep Shiro alive because he was so popular, and since that pretty much fucked up the entire rest of the story in order to have Shiro be in it, the producers were stuck with the mess Dreamworks put them in. But instead of making the logical decision of asking for an extension on production for whatever reason, because it be too expensive to rewrite and reboard all of the following seasons that were already in production after season 2 was released, or something, the producers continued with production as scheduled but completely blind. (All this is covered in the video essay I linked, seriously i recommend watching it, it actually puts a lot of the issues with VLD into perspective) Literally anything beyond season 2 had no clear plan. If it feels like the story was being made up as it went along, its because it literally was. Thats why so many things made no sense in later seasons, there was absolutely no plan.

So what does this have to do with Klance? Well its simple. If the rumors are true and Klance was originally planned from the very beginning (which I wholeheartedly believe), then this change of plans completely fucked everything over. The reason why Keith was barely in seasons 4-6 was because the producers had to make the choice of either keeping Keith or Shiro more present in the series. The whole "Shiro was a clone" thing was made to cover this. Keith was barely in those seasons because Shiro was taking his place, and Shiro was never supposed to be there. (Again, all covered in the video essay) Because of all the last minute changes being made to the story, Keith was almost completely written out of season 4-6. How are you supposed to write a love story between two characters if one of the characters isn't even there??? You can't.

But here's where it gets messy. If Klance was originally supposed to happen, but the last minute changes made it almost impossible for a natural romantic progression to happen between Keith and Lance, why the fuck did they keep hinting at it? You know what I'm talking about: the thumbnails, the tagging, the fucking HotTopic merch. If Klance was no longer logically possible because the story had to be taken in a completely different direction, why was Klance being hinted at like it was?

I'll tell you why.

Its because Klance was the driving force behind VLD's popularity. Without Klance, VLD wouldn't have been nearly as popular as it was. Check Fandometrics from 2017-2019. In 2018, VLD and Klance were listed as two separate fandoms in the Top 10 Most Popular Fandoms list. Klance held first place rank for most popular ship from 2017-2018, and was in second place in 2019 being beaten by Good Omen's Ineffable Husbands. And thats just on TUMBLR, thats not even considering Twitter and Instagram. Klance was obnoxiously popular from 2017-2019 because literally everyone saw its potential. Without the numbers and the ratings the Klance fandom was raking in, the show would have probably been canceled because the story was a MESS, it was either super confusing or super boring. The Klance fandom was what kept VLD alive, and the producers knew this.

(Does this justify any of the Klance fandoms actions toward the VLD cast and crew? Absolutely not. There's a reason why the VLD/Klance fandom is one of the most notoriously toxic fandoms on the internet.)

So instead of just dropping Klance and leaving the early season Klance interactions up for speculation, the producers made the worst possible decision and kept hinting at Klance even though they knew it probably could never happen due to the decisions they had to make because of the Dreamworks exects. And since literally no one on the creative team knew what was happening because they were all making it up as they went along, they too thought Klance was still a possible endgame. So the storyboard artists drawing this stuff and the cast (Jeremy Shada specifically) continuing to talk about Klance as if it was endgame wasn't them baiting us, it was them being baited as well. The producers could have easily been like "Hey, we don't think Klance can be possible anymore because of XYZ, lets stop talking about it to please the fandom" and instead decided to exploit the Klance fanbase in order to keep the show running.

The whole Shiro and Adam thing is the more famous and obvious example of queerbaiting the VLD producers did, but Klance was the more sinister example. They kept feeding the already violent Klance fandom with hope because they needed their devotion to keep the show alive. They were using Klance as bait since SEASON 3, for practically the ENTIRE SHOW'S EXISTENCE.

Yes the Klance fandom was rabid and insanely toxic, but the blame can't be 100% put on the fandom when the producers were knowingly enabling the Klance fandom. Again, Klance was no longer a logical possibility because of the direction the show had to take in order to meet Dreamworks' demands, but they still depended on Klance's popularity to keep the show running. The actual fucking lives of the VLD cast and crew were being T H R E A T E N E D by the rabid Klance fans, and the producers really thought to themselves, "Yeah, the safety of our cast and crew are being threatened by obsessive fans, but lets keep baiting them with the thing they want so we can get the numbers and ratings we need to continue to run."

The producers were put in an incredibly tough spot when their story was forcibly being changed because of the exects, I'll give them that. But it doesn't justify any of the queerbaiting bullshit they pulled in order to keep an already declining show running, and it certainly doesn't justify allowing the Klance fandom to threaten the LIVES AND SAFTEY OF THEIR CAST AND CREW for ratings.

Summary: The Atlas is stuck in a time loop, and Shiro is the only one who knows. He tries to figure out a way to fix it, and finds Keith along the way.

Comments: This is a standard ground hound day situation, with Shiro reliving a day over and over again. The loop starts with a question - except Shiro never remembers the what it's about - and ends with Keith's death. I do appreciate how people believed Shiro about the time loop - Pidge was all for solving it - but there's a lot of loops and a lot of frustration Shiro goes through. This was also really touching from Atlas's POV - she keeps such good tabs of people.

Third Wheel’s the Charm #28: The Closing Net

Ch. 28: The Closing Net

Summary (series): At the end of Season 4, Keith tried a suicide run at Haggar's ship in a desperate bid to save Voltron. A run that only a few people realized was happening, and no one brought up later; after all, Lotor had made it all unneccessary and no one got hurt. But what if Matt had made sure the other paladins knew what had happened, and the people near Keith cared enough to do something about it? That's where this AU starts.

Summary (this fic): At last the Paladins return to Earth. But Sendak and Haggar got there first, and nothing about this is going to go the way canon took it.

Rating: Mature (violence, language, sexual situations aren't DETAILED but they're THERE.)

Ships: Shiro/Keith, Matt/Lance, Lotor/Allura sortakinda. (Allura's life is COMPLICATED.) Most of the series is ship-free, but round about Palen-Bol things start developing. My focus is more on plots than ships and I do not write sex scenes, but there you go.

Shiro and Keith have a particularly hard time of it, because silence - even when well-intentioned - can have unpleasant side effects. I should probably promise in advance that Keith is not suicidal and I actually do not enjoy hurting him; it's just that he's a front-lines kind of guy and that has a price tag.
