Today's NO SUCH PLACE: Contemporary African Artists in America artist is Vivienne Koorland. The exhibition opens on February 26th. http://www.viviennekoorland.com/ Born in Cape Town in 1957, first child to a South African industrial chemist with communist leanings and a Polish Jewish mother smuggled out of the Warsaw Ghetto in 1943, she was largely brought up by her Afrikaner grandmother with strong ties to the farmland and by her Russian violinist grandfather, concertmaster of the Cape Town City orchestra.
