How I Inspired with Tumblr đ
Well.. Haha đ
I don't know how to start.. My English won't be so fluent so just correct me if I done any mistakes.. Actually, I don't know much about this app.. And one of my auntie asked me to do a blog for me.. She told me that I have many talents ( I'M NOT TELLING THAT I'M SO GOOD ).. Since, I love to do TIKTOK videos, singing and dancing so, she asked me to do a blog which I can show my talent at here.. And one of my brother also asked me to do blog because he said that I have talent in photography too.. But unfortunately, I don't know how to do blog and I asked many people about this.. No one knows about blog and I finally give up about blog.. Hence, I followed vithyahairandmakeup and lingeswarryapparaoblog in Instagram.. They had posted their blogs in Instagram and I felt like finally I get chance to do a blog which I can show out my talents đ Again, I'm not so good but I will try my level best to show out my talents.. Thank you â€

Why Tumblr?
Well Iâm new to this platform. Heard about tumblr multiple times but never took an effort to get detail about it. My all time inspiration VithyaHairandMakeup she was the reason i started many good habits in my life and definitely blogging would be too.
More than a blog i would prefer to keep this as a medium where i reach points beyond my ability. Iâm a very keep to myself person, no matter how close a person can be to me Iâll always have somethings that I dont find comfortable sharing. Itâs not them, itâs actually me basically my head. Always with this feeling or some sort of thought that says âNo, no one has time for your problems or worries and no one can either fix it for you. Maybe some might be happy for you to go through tough timesâ. These kind of thoughts keep lingering in my head and pushing my real self from others.
Poetry was an incredible way for me to immense myself in a world where the feelings are correctly sentenced with proper grammar and accurate meaning. I was and I am still a poetic lover, though it might sound too much off for some people I just loved how a single quote or poem changes my whole day. In fact, from not a reader, poetry made me a bookworm of literature.
And now Iâve found tumblr not as a space for anything else, just as a platform for me to be expressive. I want to share all my happiness and hurdles here as it goes in my little diary. For every girl hustling , breaking and growing just remember to keep moving forward and we all will make it one day.

This gave me goosebumps!! I swear youâre such a great inspiration. I wanted to study makeup courses and I was really confused and this actually gave me so freaking confidence. OMG I love this. I am so gonna study and be successfulâ€ïž love you!! Ever since I met you in chennai I have been falling in love with your character and your works. Thanks a lot for this. I tried texting you in instagram( you have so many followers so there is no way you can get my message) so trying to send my love through Tumblr. I hope it reaches you. @vithyahairandmakeup
The Not-So-Glamorous Life of a Makeup Artist
About 10 years ago, unless you saw a physical portfolio, a certificate to prove your qualification, a website, or someone recommending you, no one would even know who you were.
Actresses, Celebrities, Models, even Bridal Magazines would usually not credit a makeup artist, and makeup artists 10 years ago relied on word of mouth.
Today, we have social media.
Many of you who have followed me since 2008 will know how hard I have worked to get to where I am today; Carrying a suitcase up and down public transport to get to a client booking, standing in the rain trying to google map the location on my iPhone 1, getting paid bare minimum for half a day, waking up at crazy hours and having 12-15hr days without having ate or drank, being looked down upon by Asian parents as they donât respect your career choice, and after all that effort and dried tears you try to figure out when you will get your next booking and whether you will be able to afford your bills for that month.
The day I joined Instagram in 2012 is when things really picked up for me. I used my platform as a portfolio and started sharing my work, but then quickly figured out that I should share a lot more of me too to strengthen my brand and come across approachable and professional.
Of course I made my fair share of mistakes and my customer service was more based on personal emotions than professional etiquette. I would take things far too personal and get very upset. I didnât realise that my brand and my private life should be separate, it is something I understand more today, but it took many painful years in the industry to get to this point of my career.
I have had more experienced makeup artists try and sabotage a booking for me, I have had people be inappropriate with me, I have had trolls attacking me on social media, I even had clients who treated me real bad and made me cry on a job.
But this is the side that no one shares.
And it is not because they are ashamed or embarassed, not at all, it is because it is not professional to do so.
Out of the hundreds of bookings a year, I have shared and posted the odd bad experience, because I am human after all and it is important to stand up for yourself at times. I try and not moan or complain, instead I try and show how I overcome such situations.
But let me ask you one question:
If you get booked for a big bridal job, and after you post your Brideâs pictures online, another Makeup Artist posts on her social media that she was meant to get that same Bride ready and claims you stole the Bride from him/her, what should you do?
And for those reading these posts and wondering who is telling the truth, should you just not do the simple thing of asking the Bride/Wedding planners directly who and why they chose the makeup artist she had for her wedding?
Is that not common sense?
Would it make a difference if that Bride is a celebrity? Should it?
A booking is a booking. A job is a job!
If you get booked, be professional, do your job.
If you donât get booked, still be professional, and focus on your next job.
The difference between an experienced makeup artist and that of a non-experienced makeup artist is exactly that; PROFESSIONALISM.
So sadly amongst all the people you meet in the industry, there will be at least one person who would want your career so badly, they will wait patiently to pounce when an opportunity arises. And that opportunity will open the gates to all the other people who would have also waited patiently just so they can try and get a piece of you too.
Am I making you want to become a makeup artist yet?
No one can say to me that all they see on my social media is a happy and spoiled girl with a glamorous and luxurious life.
I have had my fair share of hospital visits, therapy sessions, anti-depressants, a public divorce, and now experiencing the first biggest social media bullying in my entire career.
My career is not as glamorous. Never was, and never will be. My job is meant to be fullfilling, rewarding, and inspiring.
And the feeling of how many women I have made happy on their wedding day with my makeup skills, how many women I have inspired with my YouTube videos, fashion blogs and skincare tips, how many makeup artists I have mentored and supported by doing shout outs or hiring them for jobs, and how many womenâs lives I have saved with my personal stories on my blogs, outweighs the negativity I get on social media at times.
So if you want to become a successful makeup artist, you donât just need the talent, skills, and a kind heart, no, you definitely have to have thick skin and a strong personality, otherwise these hyenas will eat you alive.
I will always be here to lift you up! I promise x

The Cancan Saree Drape
Introducing the cancan saree drape also known as the lehenga/half saree drape. When I first came across this pink saree picture on Pinterest with the hashtag cancan saree, I immediately searched on youtube of how to drape this look.Â
Unfortunately, at the time this look wasnât as popular yet and there were no videos on how to drape a saree into a lehenga. But I was still motivated to achieve this look so, I showed my mum this picture and we both tried to drape one of my georgette saree into a half saree also known as a lehenga.Â
As shown in the picture a matching lehenga skirt was used to achieve this look. At the time I didnât own a plain matching skirt, so I used the original petticoat that I bought to match the saree. The lehenga is what gives this look extra volume to the saree and make it fluff out like an actual lehenga. If you have noticed most lehenga skirts get their volume from cancan material which is why this is called the cancan saree drape.
It is actually really simple to drape a saree into a lehenga and I have finally seen girls sporting this look recently so I was thrilled to share the looks I have came across on social media.
I have come across this saree drape look being worn in four different styles:
The Saree
This is the regular saree drape. It is achieved with a lehenga instead of a regular petticoat and draped like the regular saree. This look is extremely simple but it looks unique because lehenga adds volume and gives the saree a princess vibe.
The Half Saree
For those of you who arenât familiar with what a half saree is, a half saree is an attire that is like a lehenga and comes with a blouse, dupatta and skirt. A half saree is commonly worn by South Indian girls and there was a time when half sarees were mostly made of silk or cotton and would look like the saree in the picture above. Which is why I call this look the half saree drape. The dupatta is normally draped just like regular sarees. Nowadays the material of half sarees may vary from silk to georgette. Now, some girls also drape their dupattas differently by pleating/floating and pinning them to one shoulder, both shoulders covering the chest or in North Indian style. In this look, a lehenga is not needed instead the saree is pleated in the front to replicate the lehenga pleats with a regular petticoat. The pallu is pleated and pinned to the shoulder like a regular saree.
The Pleated Back
This look requires a lehenga, it can be a lehenga of your choice. All you need to do to achieve this look is pleat the saree like you normally would but this time instead of bringing the pleats all the way to the front you would tuck and pin it at the back. The end of the saree is usually not hemmed because it would normally be unseen, so you can either hem the edge nicely or tuck it back with the rest of the pleats. A tip I would like to share is to make the pleats smaller (around 2-4 inches wide) as shown in the picture above.
The Half Saree, Half Lehenga
Last but not least the half saree, half lehenga style. I like to call this the half saree, half lehenga drape because only half of the saree is tucked to the front and the other half, the pink part of the skirt is actually the lehenga. This style again requires a skirt. To achieve this look all you need to do is pleat your saree and bring it half way to the front of your skirt and pin it. This look is absolutely stunning because of the contrast of pink and gold in the front. This style would look great if you used plain sarees of one colour with a contrasting skirt but definitely go ahead and experiment these styles with multicoloured sarees and skirts.
Another tip Iâd like to add is that if you are wearing any of these looks to an occasion pleat, iron and pin/sew your saree the day before the event.
The reason why I am so hyped about this style of saree draping is because you can use any type of saree, mix and match the colours between the sarees and lehengas, and anyone can sport this look. I remember my mum telling that it is a waste of money to buy so many lehengas and sarees that youâll only wear once and eventually never look back at again. But with this idea, I finally have the excuse go through my mumâs closet of old sarees that I can bring back to life! I can also mix and match my lehengas with my mumâs sarees. So yay to recycling!
I am extremely excited to wear these saree styles to upcoming weddings and events this summer. There are saree draping and saree prep videos at the bottom of this blog post. I hope you guys have fun trying out this look.
Yours Truly,
The Lovely Lotus

When @vithyahairandmakeup said I will be assisting her in Coimbatore masterclass, I had a pinch-me-someone moment. . . She just opened her kit to us the previous night, introduced us to the best of best products in the whole world and all this without showing an ounce of pride or secrecy. Isnât that being so humble. We all know it is scarcity in todayâs world and Vithya defyâs all those clichĂšs. Not just that, she also had an hour long conversation with me on aspects and areas that would help me grow more and man, I love this woman even more âŁïž . . #vithyahairandmakeup #vithyasbridalmasterclass #friendinacolleague #positivevibes (at The Residency Towers, Coimbatore) https://www.instagram.com/p/B1QDYI1FYBg/?igshid=174yuhmhgisad

When you are in conversation with another makeup artist, you always end up discussing about whoâs who of the industry and in one such discussion with my cousin @divz.hairandmakeupartist (from UK as well), Introduced me to this beautiful soul and said lovely things about her and I instantly started following her. . That was the beginning of my tryst with @vithyahairandmakeup. . I started following Vithya, cause I loved the style of her work and then when I started watching her stories on Instagram and SnapChat, I started growing in love with her personality too.I surely was a big fan girl. Now imagine, from being a fan girl to getting a hugeeee opportunity to put together her masterclass in bangalore, assist in her biggest masterclass & also to be part of her close circle, is my best dream coming true. Vithya is exactly the same person that I would see on Instagram. She is exactly the same hardworking, organized beyond the word organized can define, extremely loving, so so so kind hearted & a highly principled person. These last few days I got to spend time with Vithya, closer & longer then ever before and my love for Vithya just grew a hundred more folds. . . This masterclass, I totally got to experience Vithyaâs work style. I came back from Coimbatore as a whole new person just because I really saw how passionate and tireless Vithyaâs love for her work was. There is never a moment like âoh, letâs do it laterâ for her. No matter what hour of the day, how many hours she has travelled, how tired she is, she will NEVER put aside ANYTHING for tomorrow. NOW, thatâs when I realised that true passion means THIS- tireless & endless love. Iâve come back learning this from Vithya & truly hope to follow her even ardently. I love you so much Vithya, for making me this lucky :) . #vithyahairandmakeup #inspiration #positivevibes #puresoul #dreamsdocometrue (at The Residency Towers, Coimbatore) https://www.instagram.com/p/B1QB6ullzgf/?igshid=2hkvhxdkv0cm

For me, a good job is when Iâve ensured every aspect is perfect. Perfect base makeup, well defined eye makeup, neatly done hair, perfectly draped saree.
