Went to Transylvania... Didn’t get bitten by Dracula! . . Did you know Transylvania is a real place? This region of Romania contains several awesome castles! It is scattered with medieval towns and Gothic fortresses. The castle pictured, Peles Castle was once the residence of the Romanian king and is still technically a residence of the king. The more famous castle of the region, Bran Castle, is also called Dracula’s Castle due to its associations with Vlad the Impaler. Vlad was often called Vlad Dracula due to his reputation of cruelty. Thus, this inspired the name Dracula for Bram Stoker’s book! . . Bran Stoker used Transylvania as the setting for Dracula.
