A Taste of Northern Ireland & Ireland
A week of driving through Northern Ireland and Ireland left me inspired and rejuvenated, and since I had some incredible meals and fantastic hot and cold drinks, I thought I'd share them with you!
Our first morning in Ireland was a beautifully sunny one, after slowly waking up we headed to Belfast's Caffe Nero for a catch-up with one of Jay's friends. Their spinach and ricotta flatbread was a tasty new addition to the menu, and an iced - I know, in October?! - latte never misses. The attraction highest on our wish list was The Giant's Causeway, that evening we decided to drive towards it and scout its surroundings. We ended up having dinner at The Causeway Hotel, a delicious and extensive platter of different types of hummus, pesto, olives and stuffed red peppers filled us up for the evening.
After a breathtakingly stunning tour of The Giant's Causeway the next day, we drove off to find a place for lunch, Two Twenty was the best place we could've ended up at! With an incredible menu the choice was hard to make, but I made the right one choosing the Turkish Eggs accompanied by a fantastic beetroot oat latte. On Friday we headed towards Kilkenny to meet up with some of Jay's relatives, and together we had dinner at Petronella, we enjoyed an incredible cauliflower steak and a brownie for dessert.
The next day we visited Kilkenny Castle and enjoyed a heart-warming cream of vegetable soup at Kafe Katz. That evening we headed to Dublin for Cat Ryan's headline show at The Sound House and enjoyed one of the best vegan burgers I've enjoyed in my lifetime by Bosh Burger! We drove out of the city to stay in the quaint town of Malahide and enjoyed brunch at Seomra Tae, made ourselves dinner, and headed to Tollymore Forest Park where we'd stay for two nights. We enjoyed a beautiful and sunny walk in the forest park, fuelled by a coffee from The Social Crew and then headed to, weirdly, Newcastle for a very filling creamy cheese and leek toastie at Birch!
We spent out last day exploring Titanic Belfast, and enjoyed a mushroom and halloumi burger ahead of our ferry journey back to Cairnryan. As you can tell, it was quite the tasty trip, Northern Ireland and Ireland for food and drinks? Yes, please!

Bronze Statue in Dublin Warmly Embraces a Beloved Irish Legend
By Bob Ruegsegger St. Andrew’s Church on Suffolk Street. Dublin In the shadow of St. Andrew’s Church on Suffolk Street in Dublin’s Georgian Quarter, a statue of a shapely young woman dressed in 17th-century fashion stands beside a bronze cart loaded with baskets of shellfish – cockles and mussels. Anyone even remotely familiar with Irish culture and song would immediately recognize the woman…
