Her head is pounding, she can barely hear herself think over the muddled thoughts of others. She closes her eyes and she sees flames, sees visions of ruin and war. She feels something dark growing inside her mind, and she feels helpless to stop it.

Maybe she was just a bit overwhelmed, maybe she just needed to focus. Deep breaths, isn’t that what the Professor always told her? But this felt like something beyond the control he had always believed she could find.

Jean closes her eyes, places her hands on her temples, attempts to drown out the noise. Tries to ignore the pain filling her skull, as well as find some level of focus. Eyes snap open when the flashes of images become too much for her to bear. 

Suddenly the small dorm is no longer what it was and before her is a woman. Familiarity and panic fill her chest, but she tries to keep her composure regardless. ❝What’s happening? Who are you? ❞

He could feel Jean’s touch on his arm, tracing over one of the scars he had gotten from the missions he had done. “It’s just a scar Jean, it’s fine. I’m bound to get some whenever I’m on a mission, so don’t worry okay?” Scott said, not wanting Jean to worry about him— then again, he might do the same if he saw scars on his girl.

The telepath seemed lost in her thoughts; or perhaps, someone else’s. Scott had hesitated initially, wondering if she wouldn’t want to be disturbed, but when there was no response to his presence after nearly twenty minutes, he grew worried and couldn’t help himself. 

           “Jean? Hey, are you okay?” When there was still no response, Scott put a hesitant hand on her shoulder.

Scott furrowed his eyebrows, cheeks now flushed. Yes, he was planning to propose to Jean as he loves her very much, and he thought he might say the four words he’s been dying to say for some time now. “...T-That rumour may be true, and... did Kitty spread that rumour?!”

Scott’s hand reached up to his own mouth, fingers touching the blood that was there on the corner of his mouth, smudging it a little as he touched it. “...I guess so.” He says as he began to remember the mission he just done very recently. He must of forgotten about it as the pain was a bit dull, and he had no idea it was bleeding until Jean pointed it out. “I need to find some tissues.”
