Seeing characters in romance stories just jetting between countries at a moment's notice with no thought for visa; seeing airports as sites of triumphant climaxes and romantic denouements instead of places of fear and danger where a sword hangs above your head— it all breaks off little pieces of my heart. They're constant reminders that my people will never be human enough in the colonial world order to be allowed to move freely around it. No matter what your race, those non-refugees living in the Global North will never understand what it's like to be part of a global ghetto where your passport is nothing but a trembling supplication and humiliation.

#it is a PARTY when i get to go to rainforest cafe or margaritaville or any other themed dining experience#i don't even care if the food is mediocre and overpriced. i'm going for the ambiance#hell i even love an overly-decorated olive garden. why am i suddenly inside a small italian village?#or the local mexican restaurant that took the same approach and made the inside a little town square of a mexican village#and my long-standing childhood disney world obsession.#which is one i avoid talking about because then i'll get called a disney adult and a disney shill etc. and that's not what it is at all#it's the engineering and design of it all. the making of another reality for people to enjoy#and the fact that i had the privilege to go every couple of years growing up so it was a big part of my childhood#and i have a lot of memories there#my parents have those disney visa credit cards so they would save up enough Disney Points TM to fully pay for our tickets and meals#and... idk. i love the haunted mansion. i love epcot. i love (LOVE) the peoplemover.

So I'm supposed to be in London tomorrow for a 9am meeting. Just went to check my ticket which I specified I wanted to arrive at 8am for..... and it departs at 11:35pm and gets me there....... the day after my appointment 🤦♀️
#ace is a mess#travel tag#so glad i checked but fck my life im screwed#theres nothing i can do this late#im panic looking rn but i dont think its an option id checked a couple of hours before? who knows#i can get a flight thatll cost over £100 thatll get me there on time.... but i have no way to get to the airport cus i live in a stupid tow#im gonna cry of course this would happen i cant correct my ticket because the correct coach is now sold out obviously#might need to book another visa appointment and pay for all new travel 😭#*edit: ive booked another coach. itll get me to london 10 minutes before my appointment and then i still have to travel to the embassy#but i cant book another appointment while i have an existing appointment and although a flight would get me there in time#i cant get to the fcking airport cus i cant drive and theres no travel options this late cus im an idiot#aaah shoulda checked earlier god this whole summer camp process has been too stressful i need a coma

Got my CAS!! Finally!! Tonight it's Visa Time™ <3
#a certificate of acceptance to study is basically a like. file number that you present to the visa people in the uk#to say yes i have been accepted by a university no i am not lying to you to enter you beautiful country for nefarious purposes#we need to get my visa as soon as physically possible#because i can't enter the uk more than a month (to the day!) before the start of my course with my student visa#so we need the visa to tell us when we can book a train/plane ticket#cause if we book it too late it's complicated for housing but if we book it too early i literally cannot get on that train/plane#they won't let me into the country with that visa#or they might and then they'll say 'oh you entered the country too soon your visa's not valid anymore. die :)' honestly i don't know#ANYWAY. WE'RE GETTING CLOSER!!#visa time tonight.... god#and next week we're looking at Housing <3 u#not super excited tbh it's going to be hard and annoying#if i have to create a facebook account for that shit.....#wow i have a ramble tag now

US government is fucking incompetent, had to fly back to NZ for a visa renewal and mail a bunch of docs (including my passport) up to the consulate but the address they said to mail the documents to was wrong!! so now my passport etc is god knows where and the consulate still does not have the things they need to issue my goddamn visa. i really really hope the postie is able to deliver this stuff over the weekend, i am totally fucked if these docs are delayed much more and i miss my flight back to the US
#i have flexi tickets for this flight so can change the return flight but it’ll be so fucking expensive#for reference the address said to mail it to Customs St but it needed to be Customs St East#but this is the address that they put in the official document saying where to mail everything so it should have been double checked!!#i mailed this stuff on monday and now it’s friday and it hasn’t been delivered so i really really hope it’s done over the weekend#this is a US visa btw i had to come back to NZ and then mail everything to the US consulate here because america hates foreigners#the entire visa system oscillates between deeply incompetent and actively hostile i hate it so much
