#Romania is home to the largest remnant stands of #virginforest in Europe outside of Scandinavia. It is also home to Europe's largest and most healthy populations of bears, wolves and lynx. Yet, Romania's #forests, including #nationalparks and Natura 2000 sites, are under siege. Rather than being protected places of outstanding beauty and #natureconservation, chainsaws and bulldozers are logging and destroying enormous tracts of virgin forests that have stood for thousands of years. This is a tragedy of epic proportions. The scale of logging is much greater than what triggered an international outcry and a welcome intervention by the European Court of Justice in the Bialowieża forest in Poland. This destruction is occurring at the same time that the Romanian government holds the EU presidency. It is happening before the eyes of the EU and with the full support of the Romanian government. Urgent intervention is necessary to uphold the rule of law and protect Romania's outstanding natural heritage. We need your help to stop the rapidly progressing destruction of virgin forests in Romania and to preserve these #naturaltreasures before it’s too late. Romania's holds the EU presidency until June 30th. Europe will closely watch whether Romania is taking action to preserve Europe’s last great virgin forests for future generations. The difference of a semi-virgin forest and an industrial one in Romania. The virgin forests are ecosystems that survive independently, auto sufficiently. There live trees of different ages, from the seed to the oldest of them all and also communities such as elderly ones, parents and children that help each other in healthy ways until they die old in many different ways, but always feeding the ecosystem for the next generations. Under those more than 500 years old giants live 10000 species of animals, from unicellular organisms , plants, insects, bears, wolves, all interconnected. This is a millennial evolution essential for all beings, we cannot bear to loose this in Romania or any other place on Earth. 金作原原生林 Kinsakubaru Virgin Forest Located deep in the mountains between Chinase and Sumiyo on Amami Oshima. I went here last weekend and had quite the adventure including Hawks, Lidth’s Jays, Flying Spider Monkey Tree Ferns, and raw subtropical woodlands. There is no parking lot, no cell phone reception, and the roads to get here are an adventure on their own, so it was green nature at it’s most honest. There are no maps posted, so either go with a guide or come back to the entrance via the way that you came.
