Toaster Training

Warnings: None, this is just a family fluff drabble.

A/N: So I had this headcanon that Natsu uses his magic to make toast by pressing a piece of bread between his hands and heating it up and then @violetvision came up with the idea of Natsu having Nashi do that as part of her training and then this idea was born!

Lucy's at the stove scrambling the eggs and then she looks over her shoulder and sees her daughter with her hands pressed onto a piece of bread, and her faced scrunched in concentration. 

“Nashi, sweetie you've been staring at that bread for ten minutes, maybe you should put it down and take a break-” 

“No! I can do it mommy! If Storm can make slushies out of his orange juice then I can make toast! I just need to try harder!” Nashi declares.

She looks back at the bread and stares at it even harder. 

Lucy giggled and turned back to the stove. Suddenly she smelled something burning. 

 “Mommy I did it!” Nashi cheers.

Lucy turns around then screams when she sees Nashi holding a flaming piece of bread. 

 “Natsu!” Lucy shouted.

Natsu came running into the kitchen, alert for any threat that could have caused his wife to scream for help. He looked to her, then saw her pointing to the flaming bread in their daughter’s hands.

 “Don't worry I've got it!” Natsu says with a smirk.

Natsu uses his magic to suck up the flames, leaving a charred piece of bread in Nashi's hands. 

Lucy let out a sigh of relief before looking at the black piece of bread that Nashi sorrowfully placed on the plate. 

“Well, I doubt that'll feed anybody.” She pouts.

Natsu smiles at her, knowing just what would cheer her up.

“Well yeah the bread's inedible but you did make some tasty fire for your old man to eat!” He says and rubs his belly.

Natsu scoops Nashi up into his arms and nuzzles his face against hers while she giggles.

“Really daddy? Did it taste good?” Nashi asks. 

“Yep! That was the tastiest fire I’ve ever had!” Natsu praises.

“Great! Then I’ll make some more!” Nashi says.

As she reached to the plate to grab another piece of bread, Lucy quickly pulled it away and held it away from her pyro husband and daughter. 

“No! What have I said about setting things on fire in the house?” Lucy asks both of them. 

“But mommy...” Nashi starts, turning on her puppy eyes. 

“Daddy needs fire to eat too. How is he gonna be strong enough to protect us if his belly’s empty?” 

“Yeah Luce, I need protect my family! And besides, Nashi needs the training so she can get stronger and beat up Gray and Juvia’s son.” Natsu explains.

“Wait is that the only reason you want her to-” Lucy started then sighed when she saw both her husband and daughter giving her sad puppy eyes. 

“Okay fine! Two more pieces of bread but then that’s it!” Lucy declares. 

“Yay! You’re the best!” Natsu and Nashi cheer and each of them place a kiss onto Lucy’s cheeks. 

Just then, Happy flew in after hearing all of the commotion and saw Nashi setting bread on fire and Natsu eating the flames. 

“Hey Natsu, Nashi can ruin all the bread she wants, but don’t you ever dare let her touch my fishies!” Happy demands. 

Before Natsu could tell her no, Nashi smirked and grabbed a fish off of Happy’s plate and stared him down as smoke started coming off of the tail. 

“No! You monster!” Happy screams.

They all laughed as Happy tried to tug the fish away from Nashi before she released it and he flew back into the wall.

Grossest memory: My old home had an issue with ants briefly, and ants would crawl all over the kitchen counters and sometimes get into the pantry. I once left a cereal box out on the counter. The next day I decided to have cereal for breakfast. I was about to start eating and noticed an ant crawling on one of the flakes. I didn’t notice any ants when I took the bag out of the box, so I was horrified that I almost ate cereal with ants crawling in it. Ugh.
