Returned to Sender

When I love, I love hard.

And it takes a lot to get that..

When the Love isn’t reciprocated,

I crack,

I’m like tempered glass,

The way I still stick to the surface through the drops.

It’s a gift and a curse..

I’m not fragile by any means..

But a trust fall sucks when they can’t hold your weight.

When the back of my head

Meets the earth

And in my cuncussed state..

I create these feelings..

That were never really there in the first place.

It’s a curse, but a gift..

That one day,

Someone won’t return without reciept,

Demanding to speak to the manager,

Because they don’t want no damn gift card,

They want their cash back.

It’s a gift,

That will make a woman blush,

Because the thoughts behind it,

Speaks to her soul..

If she has one.

I’m a gift..

My box Damaged on arrival,

the contents inside unscathed..

Hand made,

For whomever this gift was meant for..

She’s just moved so many times,

I’ve been returned to sender.

A gypsy hunt..

She’s got a life to live before she can handle this package with care..

So I drift..

From Doorstep to mail truck,

Until the cycle is broken..

And I’m finally taken inside.

Sometimes I find the lost objects and occasionally they find me. This turquoise treasure charm pendant features steel chain gifted to me by a close friend, so it's a bit extra special. The pressed glass cabochon with recessed butterfly was originally a hanging brooch but the pin was broken, so I've sanded and smoothed the wires down to a wishbone shape. It has its original brass frame with rustic aged turquoise patina. Only a small portion of the paint was left on butterfly but enough for me to be able to restore it using alcohol pigment inks and iridescent acrylics. Also in this mixed media assemblage - upcycled flat link chain that I've adapted with Czech glass beads, weird vintage Nico Clacton key (an English company est. 1870 and still around today), my own handmade copper disc etchings, turquoise stone mosaic cabochon, metal detecting find ring, single rhinestone aurora flower clip on earring, abalone shell button and roman glass bead.
