The Golden Age was also the Smoking Age. Every restaurant, hotel, nightclub, manufacturer, and other institutions had its own matchbook, which it gave out for free and which patrons carried around with them. When they were whipped out to light a cigarette or cigar, free publicity ensued. Some of the matchbooks were quite cleverly designed. These are some of them.
