As an aside, Vintage Computer Festival Midwest this year was held at the Renaissance in Schaumburg Illinois. For all of you on Tumblr, this is the very room in which the infamous DashCon was held in 2014. The "ball pit" had been roughly where Free Geek Chicago's booth was this year, at least based on the visible fixtures.
The VCFMW organizers honored this incredible coincidence with what many feel was a fitting tribute...

I wish I were at Vintage Computer Festival Midwest 19 right now. It's being held at the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center in Chicago, IL.
Same place they held DashCon a decade ago.
They even setup a ball pit, just for the gag.
If you're there, I hope you have a good time and take a bunch of pictures.

There are currently 6 domestic Vintage Computer Festivals across the US, and a few in Europe these days. They each happen once a year, and feature all sorts of fun things. Hands-on exhibits, stuff for sale, talks about computer history (sometimes featuring people who worked at famous companies of yore), auctions, games to play, and of course the community at large. The 6 active US ones are East, West, Midwest, Southeast, Southwest, and new this year SoCal.
Cool!! I actually looked it up yesterday and the Southeast one is in Atlanta!

And so was furries…
and yes those are old camcorders
Seriously if you were into anything from old video cameras to what most consider obsolete computers you were in heaven.
Me I was there looking for cheap games for my Atari 800 XL. That’s a 8 bit…

Clones and replicas, mostly of COSMAC 1802 computers. I believe that's an Altair 8800c (the new modern version), and an uncommon clone from Spare Time Gizmos of a PDP-8 using a hard-to-find chipset.
