Welcome to the HOT AND VINTAGE MOVIE STARS poll blog!
The Scrungly Little Guys (gender neutral) Contest will start THIS THURSDAY, September 26th. All contestants have now been processed and are ready to scrungle it up for your enjoyment. Reminder that this contest enshrines the weird, the off-putting, the comic, the character actor, and the strange cinema legend. If you need a reminder of what scrungle means, this picture is the golden standard.
All polls—including ongoing polls, previous rounds, old tournaments, the various shadow brackets, the Dracula Daily polls, and fun mini polls—can be found in the #hotvintagepoll tag. I am working on a more complete tagging system so people just here for the polls can navigate the blog more easily, but that's still in the works.
FAQs:
“Define scrungly?” For the purposes of this tournament, a contestant must noticeably present in some way as at least one of these: odd, bizarre, off-putting, disheveled, creeping, feral, small, filthy, silly, funny, kooky, comical, exhausted, or just plain strange. This contest presents a wide array of scrungly appeal, so not every contestant will hit every single one of these (but should, ideally, be a few of them). Scrungles were chosen based on how convincing their submitted propaganda was. This contest is all about oddball character actors, creeping henchmen, comic relief sidekicks—the side characters who never get the credit they deserve in proper rundowns of famous old movie actors.
"How do I decide who to vote for?" Vote on whoever seems scrungliest to you. Do not vote for someone based on hotness alone. The video propaganda, included under the cut, is highly encouraged for showcasing scrungles.
"Is this just like the hotness tournaments?" No. This contest is sillier.
"Hey! Some of these guys sucked and they shouldn't be here!" Yes, some of these guys sucked. I agree with you. For reasons I've gone into before, I don't exclude anyone from the contest for moral reasons, even if I personally think they were garbage. I do this because I cannot responsibly research and vet every competitor's background and legacy, and I'm not comfortable being the moral barometer for everyone, even in cases where I think it's really obvious. You are welcome to vote against people for moral reasons, but as mod I don’t post or boost negative propaganda about anyone.
If I see repetitive, trolling, or bigoted remarks in the comments, I will block you from this bracket. If you want to point out a competitor’s problematic aspects in the replies, that’s fine, but if I see bad-faith trolling, you will be blocked. I will also block if you start harassing other people voting on the polls. If you really hate that someone is winning, please post positive propaganda for their opponent instead.
I welcome additional propaganda for the scrungly little guys in reblogs or asks. I boost the best propaganda I see and try to boost equally for everyone. I don't accept propaganda that’s post-1970 or from non-film appearances. When sending your propaganda, please don't send me too many pics or videos at once (I max out at about four per ask.)
The views expressed in the propaganda are not my own. I don’t alter submissions beyond fixing obvious spelling mistakes. I do choose the poll pics, purposely trying to pick the silliest ones possible for this contest; if you think I could do even sillier, send me one I can use instead. If you think a contestant needs more propaganda, send me an ask with some and let me know if you'd like it added to the poll post if they make it to the next round.
“Who won the major hottie tournaments?” Eartha Kitt and Toshiro Mifune are the reigning hotness champions. They are both living it up by the pool in the sunshine, as far from the shadow realm as possible.
“The....the shadow realm?” All hotties who fail to continue in a hotness tournament are sent to the shadow realm, far below the crust of the earth where the sun never shines, a dark and dismal and gloomy place. (Boris Karloff keeps making everyone try his sherry-based guacamole.)
“Was [this famous person] submitted to any of the tournaments?” Try a tag search for them (ie, [#famous person name] in my search bar). If you still haven’t found your hottie, they either did not fit the criteria of working in movies from 1910-1970, weren't convincingly scrungly in their submission, or were not submitted at all.
“My FAQ isn’t on here :(” send me an ask! I love hearing from you guys—just please check these basics first.
Thank you for being here! Enjoy the polls.
Tournament schedule post-hiatus:
Ongoing: Dracula Daily casting polls
Starting September 26th: Scrungly Little Guys contest (gender neutral)
After that: Ultimate Hottie Tournament (top brackets of the hot men & hot women competing together)
TBD: Hottest On-Screen Couples (Astaire and Rogers, Bogie and Bacall, etc)
TBD: Horror Hotties (Frankensteins, Draculas, Brides, etc.)
TBD: Dandy Detectives (Marples, Sherlocks, Nancy Drews, etc.)
fun mini polls that pit sets of characters from the same movie together, like the Philadelphia Story or Seven Brides for Seven Brothers ones (these can be found in the #minis tag)

Sci your outfit is so fun and colorful omg, personal question but what style of clothing do you like?
hooh! i think my fashion sense can only be described as...
marty mcfruity.
i don't think i buy anything unless it passes the barometer of "would marty mcfly wear this if he were fruity?" if the answer is yes then i make the purchase.
okay, maybe it's not as restrictive as that, but i've always been the token rainbow in the room! life is too short to not be an eyesore. im partial to 80s fashions and i'm a compulsive thrifter (there are SO many vintage markets in london i pour through every week - most of my wardrobe is second-hand - and that's the way i like her. trousers from this millennia are so boring)
some fine sci fashions for you (judge me as you will)

this isn't even half of it. i didn't even show you guys my golden dungarees. or my purple sequinned two-piece suit. i could be here all night.

Hi! I’m sure you’ve answered this question before but what or who got you into saw?
this is actually kind of a long and funny one. to me
part one
so, eeeeons ago.. when I was, what, 16? 17? There was someone I followed on tumblr that for some reason I used as my barometer of coolness. I just thought they were so rad, and I don't remember why. Their art, maybe?
I was, and to some extent still am, very easily influenced by peer pressure. So, whatever they got into, I heavily debated checking out myself. (Because, they're so cool and all. And I want to understand their art!)
i think i watched walkthroughs of all the Assassin's Creed games (up to 3, at the time) just to admire their art lmao
then they got into Saw and I was torn lmao. I was so scared of the franchise (because of the reputation and all) but they made it seem so interesting? They were a chainshipper I think. And by god, do i WISH i could find their old art again... or even their blog at all, so I can find those vintage Saw memes again...
i was fascinated that this "super gory torture franchise" had a fandom and people were shipping characters that were heeella dead
but also i was a HUGE baby and didn't watch anything that wasn't anime violence until uhhhhhhhhhhhh............................................................. college
so i was always curious about Saw, but as someone who hadn't even seen the most basic of basic horror films at the time, or a single rated R film, I was sssooooo not ready
part two
fast forward to 2022
So, I have a "list" of films I want to see. I'm mostly fascinated by films with pop culture significance, cult classics, or films that otherwise helped define a genre in some way. my inner film history nerd. Many of those are horror, because horror in itself is a very fascinating genre with so many iconic characters and films that change the rules of the game every few years. (horror games also do this)
Saw was always in the back of my mind as this franchise i never really understood, because of the reputation, but the first one always fell under the category as one of those iconic genre-challenging films I should try to check out at least once
in 2022, i watched the first film and I really liked it!! I was curious about the rest of the franchise because I also knew there was some kind of fandom for it, thanks to that person i followed ~13 years ago, but I heard the gore gets a lot more gruesome............. and i don't really like gore, actually..........
and i started noticing more and more really funny Saw jokes and stuff now that I at least knew the first movie, and i was like "hey, people seem to really love this franchise despite its gory reputation" I told myself I'd work my way up to it, watching other horror films and slowly training myself to be able to handle more and more gore. with the SOLE purpose of trying to build up the stomach to enjoy the rest of Saw
so last year in 2023, Saw X came out. and it was getting really good reviews. and i love going to the movies, and i was getting FOMO like you wouldnt believe
so, i let Saw skip the line on my horror list. i was like "I'll just put on Saw II and if its too much, ill just stop. If I'm not ready for this franchise, then that's fine. I don't need to see Saw X in theaters"
anyway yeah then i binged them all in a week or two because i was hooked immediately. and i got to see Saw X twice in theaters and had the time of my life
(and yes, in hindsight, i was SOOO not ready to watch this franchise as a teen LMAO. I can still barely look at gore. I think it would have sickened me. and yes, my parents are shocked I like these horror franchises so much now after being such a weenie kid)

Digging through my desk/craft supply shelf is a nightmare. I go in looking for cotton swabs and instead i find:
- a dissection kit
- amigurumi project with the head ripped off
- random assortment of old watch parts
- nonfunctional antique barometer
- jar of glue humorously labeled "cum jar"
- a chopped up photo of Garfield in a bag
- numerous stray batteries (yikes) in a drawer with loose knives (YIKES)
- a cat whisker
- eyes in a million different sizes and colors
- Worm On A String, off the string
- Worm On A String In A Jar
- fuckin math homework from high school
- years old rice candy
- vintage Sandylion stickers
- old work badge with my deadname
The cotton swabs elude me. It's been two hours of searching. I don't remember what I wanted them for.

favorite thing in your house? or just that you own in general?
Great question !! I present you with a selection of some of my favorite trinkets.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pin Hat
First got this in middle school and started pin collecting ever since. Its a bit heavy now so i dont wear it too often
Fidget Abomination
This is REALLY IMPRACTICAL for fidgeting because you can barely even hold it comfortably, all the buttons are too loud/unsatisfying, etc. But they way everything is Frankensteined together is quite comical
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Stylophone
STYLOPHONES ARE MY 2ND FAVORITE INSTRUMENT OF ALL TIME. id love to play it more but i dont really have a pc so i cant record the audio, and these arent really meant for live playing. The stylus wire is kinda breaking sadly bc the stylus holder bends the wire in a super impractical way due to bad design
ENA Lenticular Poster (+ light stand)
One of my favorite posters of all time fr. The light is composed of an led bar light taped to a selfie stick stuck in a wooden base. Not as practical as i hoped but it works well nonetheless
Vintage Barometer
It doesnt work anymore but looks really cool. Im a sucker for clock faces honestly. I do have a few smaller things similar to this and i hope to add to the collection

The Shift to Online Auto Parts Shopping: Five Compelling Reasons Why It's Here to Stay
As technology advances at a dizzying rate, more car owners rely on internet marketplaces to get replacement components. Online marketplaces are rapidly replacing brick-and-mortar retailers. This isn't just a fad; it's a smart business move with numerous advantages. The reasons why people buy car parts online are explained in this article. Everyone benefits from this new consumer behaviour; five convincing reasons show why.
1. Easy Accessibility:
Because of the accessibility and ease of online marketplaces, auto parts sales sales are significant. It used to be a hassle and a waste of time for them to go to all these stores only to find the right auto components. But this is all different now because we live in a digital world. Motorists can now shop for auto parts online, compare prices, and make informed decisions without leaving the comfort of their homes. Regardless of your location, you may shop globally from the comfort of your computer when you shop online. An additional perk is that online platforms are accessible at all times. People can shop whenever it's convenient for them.
2. A Diverse Range of Products:
The extensive selection of auto parts available when you buy car parts online, is one of the finest benefits. Unlike physical stores with restricted shelf space, Internet retailers can showcase many brands and models. In this way, consumers may get what they need without compromising compatibility or quality. Online resources are useful whether you're looking for a common replacement part or a unique accessory for a vintage vehicle. Car enthusiasts have more opportunities to try aftermarket upgrades that improve driving, and the diversity makes it easier to find what you want.
3. Save money by comparing prices:
Customers appreciate that online auto parts businesses are upfront about pricing. Customers may find the greatest deals and make intelligent choices by comparing pricing from multiple sellers in virtual markets. Due to lower overhead, online shops can provide more competitive prices than their brick-and-mortar counterparts. This is a great tool for frugal shoppers wanting to learn about sales, discounts, and loyalty programmes. With the rise of "smart shoppers," it's more important than ever to easily compare prices so that customers can get the auto parts they need without breaking the bank.
4. Simple return procedures and warranties:
When buy car parts online, you would help if you took care of any problems with the product's quality, suitability, or flaws. Good internet stores know this, so they provide simple return policies and assurances to put customers at ease. This customer-centric policy gives customers peace of mind by allowing them to return or exchange defective parts. Customers are more likely to feel safe purchasing on the platform because of this transparent commitment to their happiness. The increasing security of online markets for auto parts is luring more and more automobile owners to shop there.
Conclusion:
Online auto parts sales are a good barometer of the changing habits of car buyers. Because of its accessibility, wide selection, transparent pricing, review capabilities, and customer-friendly methods, online platforms are ideal for casual and serious drivers. Buy car parts online may become less hassle as technology advances. Its expanded set of products and services will surpass all others as the go-to destination for affordable, quick, and dependable automotive solutions. By embracing digital transformation, consumers are better prepared for the auto industry's future and can more easily purchase automobile components.

Kurz's surface decoration solutions at drupa 2024
Tumblr media
Leonhard Kurz, the official Platinum Partner of drupa 2024, will exhibit its finishing and packaging solutions as well as the associated machines and services under the motto ‘Re:think what's possible' at stand E71, hall 3 at the show from 28 May to 7 June 2024.
drupa, an important trend barometer for the print industry, offers a platform for exhibitors to present innovations in the fields of printing, finishing, packaging and more. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience technologies, products and services live and exchange ideas directly with manufacturers and experts.
Finishing with elegant 3D effects
Innovative finishes are becoming increasingly important, especially when it comes to visually highlighting premium products at the point of sale. One of the many highlights at the Kurz stand is the new Silver Line finishing line, which adds a touch of elegance to any packaging with its silver-metallic play of light. The 3D effects add a touch of luxury. Both reflective and matte designs are possible for full-surface decorations or partial decorations with fine details.
Silver Line can be used flexibly, as it can be seamlessly integrated into existing systems using processes such as hot stamping, cold transfer, or digital finishing. "The diffractive effects of Silver Line create a special optical depth and give the impression of real movement, resulting in dynamic designs and real eye-catchers. All this is possible because we are rethinking what is possible. I am proud that we are presenting Silver Line at drupa," explains Laurin Leeb, head of International Product Management Business Area Industrial at Kurz.
Silver Line was developed from the already successfully established Light Line finishing line, which will also be exhibited at drupa 2024. It comprises a range of finishing solutions for packaging and labels that are also characterized by their unique 3D optical effects. Light Line offers, among other things, real hologram effects with depth effect. The difference to Silver Line is the rainbow-colored motion effects that refract the light in a fascinating way and reflect it in all colors of light. These effects help to create an eye-catching and appealing aesthetic. The areas of application are diverse and range from cosmetics packaging to drinks labels.
High-gloss effects and metallization
Various classic finishing solutions from Kurz are being rethought and can be experienced at drupa 2024. Lumafin highlights products with unique visual effects. The semi-transparent finish has been specially developed to create a shimmering look that allows the underlying design to gently peek through as if behind glass. Print motifs embossed with Lumafin inspire with a magically translucent play of colors, a timeless vintage look, or a high-quality patina effect. In many applications, including cosmetics packaging, spirits labels, book covers and consumer goods packaging, the brand identity is strengthened by distinctive and recognizable design elements of the finishing.
With Luxor/Alufin, Kurz is presenting the ultimate in metallic hot stamping in Düsseldorf. This classic is one of the top products and is known for its exceptional quality and remarkable optical gloss effects. The Luxor/Alufin range comprises a large selection of transfer products whose brand essence is glossy metallic effects and represent a brilliant all-round hot stamping solution. This product range offers a wide variety of colors and surface effects and allows finishes to shine in the best quality. In addition, the carrier thickness has already been changed to 10 µm for most products. Soon, hot stamping products from Kurz will only be available on 10 µm substrates. Luxor/Alufin finishes give many printed products a luxurious and elegant appearance. This is achieved not only by the high-quality appearance, but also by the relief-like structures, which contribute to the overall aesthetics and impression of value. At the trade fair, you can find out what's new at Kurz in the field of hot stamping.
Sustainable finishing for sheet-fed printing
At drupa 2024, Kurz will be providing comprehensive insights into the Kurz Transfer Metal (KTM) Technology which complements the repertoire of sustainable finishing processes. The centerpiece is a smart add-on module for processors who do not want to invest in a new cold transfer machine. The module can be easily combined with existing laminating systems, keeping costs and effort manageable. With the ultra-thin finish, packaging can be decorated with breathtaking high-gloss designs without leaving any plastic behind. This means they remain recyclable and therefore more environmentally friendly - a clear advantage compared to conventional laminates. This makes the technology particularly interesting for large-volume production. KTM can be applied to a variety of substrates - including paper and cardboard.
Furthermore, with KPS slim 2.0 (patent pending), Kurz is once again demonstrating its commitment to innovative solutions that not only impress in terms of quality and efficiency, but also make a significant contribution to environmental protection. KPS slim 2.0 (patent pending) sets new standards in terms of sustainability by reducing the carrier thickness and thus the PET content in the decoration process by an impressive 50 percent. This development not only means considerable material savings, but also enables more efficient handling thanks to more running meters per roll, which in turn leads to fewer roll changes and therefore less downtime and set-up time. The end result on the printed sheets is an incomparable gloss - even on the most demanding surfaces and difficult substrates. The technology offers maximum process reliability and efficiency as well as exceptional design flexibility. "The introduction of KPS slim 2.0 (patent pending) marks a turning point in the finishing industry - both in terms of application and environmental protection. The solution is characterized by its outstanding technical performance in offset printing and at the same time enables a reduction in waste and disposal costs. In addition, the technology contributes to a significantly reduced CO2 footprint. Our decoration solution guarantees that no plastic or laminate remains on the decorated items, which means that the recyclability of the end products is not impaired," explains Marco Hanisch, Kurz head of Global Business Development Packaging and Print.
Design concept makes trends and design possibilities tangible
With its annual 'boxes' design concept, Kurz has developed a unique method of making social developments and trends tangible through innovative packaging design and new product colors. In all four themes from the current 'boxes No. 3' collection, which will be presented at drupa, the departure towards more humanity is tangible - a reflection that seems particularly relevant in times of rapid digital developments.
The project comprises four artistically designed cardboard boxes, which were created in collaboration with the Kurz subsidiary Hinderer + Mühlich (H+M) and the Italian paper manufacturer Favini. The innovative approach, which brings design to life, hits the nerve of the times. "Our customers regularly tell us that they look forward to the new edition of the 'boxes' every year, the trendy colors and the stimuli and inspiration they receive," explains Annie Kuschel, head of Design Management Packaging and Print at Leonhard Kurz. In addition, the concept has already won several internationally renowned awards.
No contradiction: Elegant design and cost efficiency
At drupa 2024, Kurz proves that high customer demands at the point of sale are absolutely compatible with cost-optimized production. One of the solutions is the new Ecofin range, which not only turns products into real eyecatchers with its gold and silver tones, but also reduces production costs. Ecofin meets all the requirements for making products stand out and promoting sales. Fine details and large-scale metallization with a wow effect, high gloss and outstanding results are possible, even on recycled cardboard. The new product range is available for hot stamping and cold transfer in roll and sheet-fed printing. "With the Ecofin series, we have succeeded in developing an extremely cost-efficient product without losing the performance features typical of Kurz," emphasizes Stéphane Royère, Kurz head of Business Area Packaging and Print International Sales and Marketing.

A Look At The Surprising World Of Brewery Equipment Auctions
In the pulsating heart of the brewing industry lies a world of surprises, where the clinking of glasses harmonizes with the hum of auctions. Brewery equipment auctions, an intriguing subculture within the larger tapestry of brewing, offer a fascinating glimpse into the dynamics of supply, demand, and craftsmanship. Let’s embark on a journey through this surprising world.
At first glance, brewery equipment auctions might seem mundane, perhaps even inconsequential amidst the allure of craft beer culture. However, beneath the surface lies a realm brimming with activity, where brewers, entrepreneurs, and aficionados converge to seek treasures and opportunities. These auctions serve as the crossroads where innovation meets tradition, and where dreams of brewing excellence find tangible expression.
Picture the scene: rows of gleaming stainless steel tanks, fermenters, and bottling lines stand as silent sentinels, awaiting their next custodian. Each piece of equipment tells a story – of batches brewed, flavors crafted, and dreams pursued. For brewers, these auctions offer more than just machinery; they present a chance to infuse their craft with history and character, to inherit the legacy of those who came before.
The allure of brewery equipment auctions extends beyond mere acquisition. Here, participants engage in a delicate dance of strategy and intuition, navigating the currents of competition and valuation. The stakes are high, for securing the right equipment can spell the difference between success and stagnation in an industry defined by innovation and efficiency.
Moreover, these auctions serve as a barometer of industry trends and economic dynamics. The rise of craft brewing has fueled a surge in demand for specialized equipment, driving prices upward and fostering a vibrant secondary market. Conversely, economic downturns or shifts in consumer preferences can precipitate fluctuations in auction activity, offering insights into the broader landscape of the brewing industry.
Yet, beneath the veneer of commerce lies a spirit of camaraderie and community. Brewers, both seasoned veterans and aspiring novices, converge at these auctions not only to vie for equipment but also to share stories, swap tips, and forge connections. In this sense, brewery equipment auctions serve as more than mere transactions; they embody the ethos of collaboration and mutual support that defines the brewing community.
Indeed, the significance of brewery equipment auctions transcends the confines of commerce, encompassing cultural, historical, and even artistic dimensions. Each piece of equipment, with its dents, scratches, and patina, bears witness to the ingenuity and craftsmanship that underpin the brewing process. For collectors and enthusiasts, these artifacts hold intrinsic value as symbols of a timeless tradition that continues to evolve and adapt.
Moreover, brewery equipment auctions offer a window into the ever-changing landscape of brewing technology and innovation. From state-of-the-art brewing systems to vintage relics steeped in nostalgia, the diversity of offerings reflects the kaleidoscopic tapestry of brewing practices and preferences worldwide. For entrepreneurs and visionaries, attending these auctions is akin to embarking on a treasure hunt, where the quest for the perfect equipment mirrors the quest for the perfect brew.
In conclusion, brewery equipment auctions occupy a unique and surprising niche within the world of brewing. Far from being mundane transactions, these auctions embody the spirit of discovery, collaboration, and tradition that animates the brewing community. Whether as a marketplace for equipment, a forum for networking, or a repository of cultural heritage, brewery equipment auctions offer a glimpse into the rich tapestry of stories, aspirations, and innovations that define this dynamic industry.
So, the next time you raise a glass of your favorite brew, take a moment to appreciate the silent protagonists behind the scenes – the gleaming tanks, the whirring machinery, and the spirited exchanges that animate the surprising world of brewery equipment auctions.
