Hello Tumblr!

I don't have any other social media so I'm a little out of touch I'm sure but I will have plenty of dumb thoughts, fanfic and bric a brac to post as a sacrifice upon Tumblr's alter of many fandoms lol.

If you die in real life you die in the game.

May sound like a joke, and it is, but at the same time this is legit. I saw the ‘if you die in the game you die in real life’ line quoted again the other day and I flipped it in my head as a joke, but it’s been bugging me ever since then. To some people (myself included at times) who have highly invested social lives in online games as well as suffer from depression and occasionally suicidal tendencies, it is surprisingly meaningful to be reminded that even when it feels like you won’t be missed IRL, your online friendships and ingame personal goals like reaching a certain rank or attaining a specific item or w/e are legit.

I kinda just feel like having a rant. About Mabinogi. If you don't know what that is, it's a video game (also a book of Celtic legends) developed by DevCat and Nexon Corp. It is a simply fantastic and beautiful game. It has so many elements most all other MMORPG'S simply don't, or they make those elements 10x better. Almost every non generic character (so anyone with an actual name) has their own music, a character description at the beginning of conversations, and full body artwork for the dialog screen. And the dialog is unlike anything I've seen in any other game. It's a work of beauty. And don't even get me started on the music. HOLY BALLS THE MUSIC. It's so gorgeous, and all so cohesive. They work very hard to maintain a linking melody in much of the music, which is the theme song for the game. It's astounding. Then there's the lore. HOOO BOY. For those who are unaware, I'm a Celtic Wiccan, and my original introduction to Celtic lore and such came from this game. I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt, this game helped me find my path and my faith. The characters and story of this game resonate so deeply with me, and everything is so interesting and curiosity inducing. Gods I love it. Then there's the fact there is no locked class system, but instead a talent system so you can focus on whatever skills you want. Wanna be a mage but work on your fighter skills? Okay, put on a pair of mana knucks and punch shit and fling spells. Or have knuckles in one slot and your want in the other. THERE ARE NO RULES. And if you have no interest in combat, be a tailor, a chef, a bard, a carpenter, a merchant, a cleric, an Alchemist, any number of things. It's by far the best game I've ever played and I love it to death. I couldn't recommend it more. If you decide you want to play and want someone to play with, message me! Who’s Lokhlaë ?
