Breakpoints: Beginnings

My friends, If I may let myself be a little self aggrandizing, I am so happy to release the first chapter of my mega-fic project: Breakpoints. I've been cooking this AU for over a year, and I have some hefty outlines, character arcs and worldbuilding working in the background to bring this story to life.

Life is full of pivotal moments where one single thing can change everything that follows. Quinn is just a normal kid who finally got himself out of a bad place. When a strange old man keeps staring him down from a sewer grate, he decides to investigate a little further. Callie and Marie are pop idols at the peak of their careers when they learn their grandfather has been kidnapped. Ahato is just a simple technician, trying to get through each grueling day of her life underground. Marina, the Head Engineer, is a symbol to all, a goal everyone in the domes should aspire to be like. The pressure to be perfect is killing her. Arai is just a foot soldier being slowly driven to her breaking point by the increasingly harsh conditions of dome life. All of their lives are moments from changing, casting them into futures they couldn't even dream of.

The Introduction Arc (Chapters 1-11)

Chapter 1: The Squid Sister's Tour

Callie and Marie are at the literal peak of their careers. The largest concert venue in the world, packed to the gills with their fans. In the silence after the show, the two receive a phone call from someone they don't know with some dire news.

Chapter 2: A Day In the Plaza

Meet Quinn Tidesplay, rookie apartment owner and part-time battle novice. Sharp kid, first time out on his own, left home with nothing but the clothes he wore and pouch of coins.

Chapter 3: More Days in the Plaza

Well, as odd as things were yesterday, life goes on. Back to the daily grind, where nothing abnormal should happen again.

Chapter 4: Squidbeak pt. 1

What was he thinking? Following a strange old man through a sewer grate???

Chapter 5: Squidbrak pt. 2

Armed with gear worth more than his life, and guided by the spirited old man from the grate, Quinn ventures into the Octavian domes for the first time.

Chapter 6: Routine

Now having officially initiated his new Agent, Craig waits for said agent to show up in the Plaza again the next day.

Chapter 7: Life as a Disabled Military Outcast

Ahato Mizuta is just a simple systems tech, despite her own wills. Nothing much interesting happens in her life, it's all just visit a system or Install this temporary system. Really, all she wants to do is make music, but it's better to not have the military mad at you.

Chapter 8: Rise and Fall

Head Engineer Marina Ida: brightest mind of her generation, role model to all soldiers, known for revolutionizing life in the domes twice over.Today, she performs the first test of the first Great Octoweapon, designed as an unmatched, unbeatable autonomous combatant.Assuming the test is successful, the growing menace of Agent Three shall end, and the first blows of a new war shall be dealt.

Chapter 9: Preparations

The defeat of the Octostomp marks a turning point for the afflicted parties, though none realize just how pivotal of a moment it was.The Head Engineer struggles with her failure and if the little she gained from the encounter was worth all she lost.Quinn prepares to return to the domes yet again, scouting for more zapfish to reclaim.And Arai, well, she's forced to deal with the mess the other two have made (against her own will, might she add).

Chapter 10: Squids in a Barrel

Just another routine scouting mission. What could go wrong?

Chapter 11: Contact

After making it to the surface, Quinn has a new mission. Reach out to Agents One and Two for help.

The Distrust Arc (Chapters 12-21)

Chapter 12: Finally Back Home (And Everything's Different)

Finally coming off the end of a hellish, unending tour, Callie and Marie try to relax for a few moments before dealing with the emotions they had to shove to the side to perform on stage, and the Agent that brought them about.

Chapter 13: Unstoppable Force

Callie and Marie sprint into the domes after months of being away. There's no time to waste, Agent 3 could be in serious trouble!

Chapter 14: Immovable Objects

At last, the fated confrontation between Agent Three and the Squid Sisters.

Chapter 15: Captive Conversation

Marina's about at her limit at this point. Everything is pushing her closer and closer, but none so much as the old bastard locked in her lab with her.

Chapter 16: Message Received

Agent Three messed up. He messed up big time. THAT was his first meeting with the other agents? That was how everything started? It's ok, he can still salvage this. This can still work, he just needs to do everything right.

Chapter 17: Welcome Home

Coming at things with a fresh start and a new perspective, Quinn, sits with Agents One and Two to try and start over.

Chapter 18: Life as a Mildly Popular Underground DJ

Since running away from everything on the surface, Ahato's life had been... better. Things were honestly starting to look up for her. She was meeting people, making friends, and sharing her passions with people who genuinely cared. If only Marina could say the same...

Chapter 19: And Rise Again

Faced with the consequences of her worst mistake, and potentially on the verge of another, Marina tries to confront Ahato about the Octostomp incident.

Chapter 20: Soldier's Provisions

Agent 3 has been essentially one unending headache for everyone inside the domes. Thankfully, Arai's on her break shift, so it's not her problem for the next several hours.

Chapter 21: Burgers vs. Pizza

Splatfests: 24 hours of crazy fun for everybody. Unless you're the Squid Sisters, at least. The day-long show be exhausting, but at least they've got Quinn around to keep them company now.

After this I believe Billy and Tommy will go to become Billy Kaplan and Tommy Shepherd that's where M'kraan is taking them. But it's interesting that Tommy remembers Cresskill but Billy admits he doesn't remember, honestly it seems like Tommy knows more then Billy and that's so interesting. when they became Tommy Shepherd and Billy Kaplan will they both forget? Does Tommy Shepherd actually remember all of this? It's revealed he can do magic in AA too, did he maybe make himself not remember? Maybe he vaguely remembers cus in children's crusade he picked older twin like he knew. I need an expansion on this story like yesterday!

Lookism J High boys react to pretty new girl (fem!reader)

(Daniel, Zack, Vasco, Vin)

Daniel Park

Daniel looks up from his seat at you as you enter the room, everyone already murmuring about the gorgeous new girl.

He gets up to introduce himself to you and ask for your name, not paying any mind to all the positive attention you're already getting.

He knows firsthand how daunting it is to start at a new school and has had extensive personal experience feeling ostracized in his life. So he wants to make sure others don't have to go through the same thing if he has any say in it, and regardless of what you look like (although he of course notices how pretty and ethereal you look, too.)

Zack Lee

Zack would wake up from his desk nap from being blinded by a bright ass light flooding into the classroom as you walk in. Squinting and grumbling with dried drool on the corner of his mouth.

He would stare at you and your beauty in awe for a quick second, then-

"Wait. You're not Mira, the fuck."

Then he'd go back to sleep.

Vasco

"There's a new girl? In the Architecture Department?!" The Burn Knuckles members jump off of each other, quitting their horseplay to hover near the doorway in anticipation.

The moment you walk in, gasps and oohs and ahs can be heard from the guys. Your long hair flowing down your shoulders in the most perfect way and you dazzling the room with your pretty smile without even trying.

A single, fat tear rolls down Vasco's cheek.

"V-Vasco! Why are you crying, you haven't even tried talking to her yet!" Jace attempts to comfort his friend in vain.

Vin Jin

Vin rubs his hands together, smirking and plotting what he's going to say to you to charm your pants off. The usual should be fine-

"Don't even think about it." Mary says without looking up from her phone.

"What the fuck are you on abou-"

"Leave the poor girl alone, you fucking dimwit." Mary pulls Vin by the ear and leads him down the hallway away from you, ignoring his curses and whining.

She lets go, throwing him as he staggers further down the hall in the opposite direction.

Vin turns his head to look around, completely disoriented by being suddenly thrown into this dimmer, different section of the hallway. He squints through his sunglasses and reaches out, fumbling around with empty air.

"Mary?! Dammit, where are you?" He calls out helplessly.

His girlfriend Sunnie was breathtakingly beautiful; Vin Jin knew that deep in his bones, but it infuriated him that every other guy seemed to know it too. He tried so hard to suppress the raging jealousy that burned in his chest whenever she interacted with her male friends. Logically, he understood she would never betray him; her love was pure and unwavering. But god, his heart hissed venom into his mind about how those guys weren't really just friends. They were snakes, slithering around and sinking their fangs into her with sly comments about her radiant looks, thoughtful gifts playing on her kind heart, and those stupid jokes comparing hand sizes like they were measuring something else entirely. It made his blood boil, and it took every ounce of willpower not to overreact and cause a scene that would end up embarrassing both of them.

However, his feelings only seemed to worsen when it came to total strangers staring at his gorgeous girlfriend. It was no surprise she drew stares in public; her calming presence, warm smile, and almost angelic kindness made her approachable to everyone. But the oblivious sweetheart never seemed to notice when they crossed lines, shamelessly flirting right in front of him. So that's how they ended up sharing coffee with this audacious stranger who had just rudely invited himself over, obviously trying to weasel his way into Sunnie's heart right under Vin Jin's fuming glare, going unnoticed because of his tinted shades.

The thick, tension-filled atmosphere was suffocating to Vin Jin, yet he appeared to go completely unnoticed by Sunnie and her new "friend." He felt like a third wheel, forced to watch this man shamelessly attempt to charm the love of his life away right before his eyes, while sweet Sunnie remained naively blind to the slick advances. It took every strained muscle in Vin Jin's body not to simply toss her over one shoulder and storm away from this jackass. He thought he was keeping his temper impressively contained. At least until he heard those damning words slip past the stranger's mouth like a harsh slap across his face.

"What are you doing after this?" Oh, fuck no. Vin Jin's restraint finally snapped like an overstretched rubber band. He had endured enough disrespect, silently stewing as this scumbag relentlessly hit on his woman right under his nose. This was half the man he was supposed to be; there was no way in hell he would let this keep going for one second longer.

"We will be going back to our place, actually! It's getting late, so I think we should head out now." Vin Jin snarled the reply before Sunnie could respond, abruptly standing up and pulling her up with him. His eyes burned holes through the startled stranger. "Such a pleasure meeting you, Michael, was it? Whatever, it's not like she'll need to remember it anyway."

The jealousy continued to simmer within him. Many would think that his demeanor would get distant with her as well for allowing such nonsense, but that wasn't the case at all. He would never let it twist into resentment towards his girlfriend. It wasn't her fault; how could she help being so breathtakingly beautiful? She certainly couldn't control the vulgar remarks of those who would try to come between them. The entire walk home, his expression remained serious, though his hands tenderly caressed hers. His thumb rubbed the back of her hand in circles, and when her heels began to hurt her feet, he didn't hesitate to sweep her up into his arms, carrying her the rest of the way.

Once inside, he led her straight to the bedroom, dropping his weight onto the soft mattress before gently pulling her down beside him. Without a word, he nuzzled his face against her stomach, arms finding their way around her waist in a tender embrace. She combed her fingers through his hair, nails lightly grazing his scalp, allowing the tension to slowly release from his body.

Minutes ticked by, his breathing deepened and steadied thanks to her familiar warmth and the reassuring rhythm of her heartbeat. She continued the lazy motions, stroking his hair, trailing her fingertips along the column of his neck in featherlight patterns. A contented sigh tumbled from her lips as she felt him fully relax against her, the furrows of distress smoothing from his features.

"Feeling better?" She asked with her gentle demeanor, pulling his bangs back to get a clearer image of his face. Vin Jin just hummed out a lazy affirmation, though part of him was still embarrassed over his earlier outburst. "Good," she murmured, the acceptance in her tone furthering his sense of ease as she continued playing with his locks.

He tilted his head back to gaze up at her. His glasses slipped down the slope of his nose, fully exposing the mesmerizing polycoria of his eyes to her adoring stare. An awed reverence swelled within him, as it so often did in her presence. How was this possible?? Out of all the people in this world, she has somehow chosen him, with all his flaws, with all his secrets and insecurities, she still chose him.

Memories of their earlier years flooded his consciousness - the constant teasing, their protective bond with each other, the constant playful flirting that always made him lose sleep as he just replayed the memory in his mind over and over. Even after all the turmoil she had endured by his side, she remained his unwavering angel. She protected and defended him fiercer than anyone else, soothing his fears of rejection, healing the fractures his insecurities wrought with infinite grace. She was a gift, and he would tear the moon from the sky itself to ensure her happiness.

Pushing his glasses fully aside, he scooted upwards until they were face-to-face, tugging her form against his own. "I really am the luckiest man alive," he rasped, voice thickened with awe as his palm cradled her cheek. Leaning in, he captured her lips in a tender, reverent kiss before pulling back, a playful glint shining in his gaze. His grip tightened ever so slightly as he pulled her flush against him, peppering her face with kisses as his hands made sure to hold her tight against him to prevent any sort of escape. After a few moments his playful banter dissipated into a calm, almost shy demeanor. Burying his face into the crook of her neck as he murmured, "Seojun?"

"Yeah?" she answered, her fingers idly toying with the strands at his nape.

"I love you,"

Vin Jin x Reader: Teeth (feat Mary)

Spoiler - Post 1A. G/N. Vin gets new teeth. Vin and Mary up to their usual BS.

"You're still as ugly as ever,"

"Who asked you, hag?"

Angling his head, Vin effortlessly dodges a textbook flung his way. Mary mutters sourly under her breath.

Vin sucks at his new front teeth. Alternates between that and smacking his tongue against them while staring into his phone camera. Has done so for the umpteenth time in the last ten minutes.

"Cut that out!" Mary snaps.

She has tried to be understanding, tried to be a good friend. Even having his teeth knocked out, bodied and bloodied by-

(Mary blocks out his name, his face, his existence. Pushes it to the back of her mind. If she thinks about it, dwells on it, she fears she will lose what is left of her humanity.)

His ego, at least about his appearance, has suffered no damage.

Vin Jin is still unbearable.

He poses, sucking in his cheeks, giving what he must think is a charming toothy smile. Watching him check himself out like a preening baboon makes Mary want to pluck her own eyes out.

"Y/N can't possibly love you for your looks," Mary scoffs, then pauses. Reconsidering, "But you're an asshole too. Why are they with you again?"

"Big dick-"

This time, the textbook connects. Hits him square in the side of the head. With a resounding smack! and such force that Vin topples out of his chair and into a heap onto the floor.

"You bitch!"

Bzzzzt!

Ignoring the stream of filth leaving his mouth, Mary checks out her latest notification. You messaged to say you're close by, and you're excited to see your boyfriend again if the amount of emojis and exclamation marks are anything to go by.

"Y/N is here soon," she cuts him off and Vin shuts up immediately.

"Cool," he says, aiming for nonchalance, dusting himself off and looking into the camera once more.

For the first time, Mary notices a tightness in his eyes. Self consciousness at his swollen mouth and shiny new teeth. You haven't seen him since he has been back and had dental surgery. Vin's mouth is still swollen, remnants of bruising remain.

He hasn't been this insecure since before he first revealed his eyes to you.

Mary sighs, tosses him a bone. "You look fine, idiot. They'll just be happy to see you."

"I look great and of course they'll be happy to see me. Who isn't?" Vin's arrogance surfaces and she wishes she never said anything to soothe his overinflated ego-

But then he softens, like he always does when you're involved, and Mary's irritation washes away with it.

"I'm happy to see them too."
