An old, torn, crumpled up piece of paper. It's covered in dirt, or maybe that's soot. Did someone try to burn this? The handwriting is sloppy, but the words tell a story. Perhaps a diary entry. It's hard to read, but it's heartbreaking, desperate. This is something someone had to tell, to get it out of their system. It looks as if they tried to destroy it when they were done but swiftly changed their mind. Maybe, in the end, they hoped someone would find it, someone would know their story, maybe even find comfort in it that they're not alone if they've been forced to endure the same pain.

Carminite

Intermediate Architectual Manager

Carminite oversees all of the facilities under Red Diamond. She does routine performance evaulations to see if Red’s subordinates are doing exactly what they were designed to do so Carminite sees all. She can tell how old a building is with just a glance and can spot if the job was rushed or not.

Carminite is Second-In-Command to Villiaumite, the Senior Architectual Director. She enjoys doing all the legwork for her, as she loves feeling in control.

i was sketching random facial expressions in my digital arts class and this one for some reason made me think of Villiaumite and I ended up drawing her lol

Villiaumite

The beautiful red hues of this soluble cousin of table salt (sodium fluoride instead of chloride) results from geological radiation that damaged the crystal lattice. This created light absorbing centres that suck out all the wavelengths barring the residual carmine that our eye sees. Care should be taken handling it since it is toxic, and hands should be washed after doing so, and being soluble it also needs special storage with dessicants.

Colour varies from red through lavender pink to orange, and the mineral is very soft, weighing in at 2.5 on Mohs hardness scale, though a very few stones have been faceted for completist collectors. Being soluble it is a bugger to cut, and alcohol has to be used as the liquid component, with all its attendant risks. It also loses its colour if heated to over 300 degrees Celsius.

Due to its solubility finding it in nature is very rare since it usually gets removed by the ubiquitous passing fluids circulating in the crust. Villiaumite forms in granitoid rocks called nepheline syenites, in which magmas that are undersaturated in silica and rich in alkalis such as sodium and potassium freeze in the crust. The silica undersaturation means that compositions that would form feldspars normally have to make do with less silica and end up as minerals such as nepheline and other feldspathoids (as the group is called).

Known localities include Brazil, Canada (Mont St Hilaire mine in Quebec), Greenland, Namibia, Colorado (Porphyry Mountain) and Russia (Kola Peninsula), whence came the 3.3 x 1.6 x 1.5 cm facet grade specimen in the photos. It was first discovered in Guinea in 1908 and named after a French explorer who collected rocks while serving as an artillery officer in Madagascar and Guinea whose collection provided the type specimen.
