What was the defining moment in your OC/WoL's life that changed them for better or worse?
We'll go with Vikesh for this one since I haven't talked about my pretty pirate bun in a while.
For Vikesh, his defining moment was the sinking of his first ship. When the pirates had all but left him in a wreck, it was his joining the crew that kicked off every event after that.
Had he never joined, he'd never have organized the mutiny, become captain, or seen the world.
But most importantly to him, he would have never met his soulmate.
Had he not been in Limsa on that exact day, they would have passed each other by.
Tumblr media
Ymir is very special to him, and he will mention him with every other breath until he takes his last (Thus why I rarely am able to go a post about Vik without mentioning Ymir). He never thought he'd be one for love until it pierced clean through his heart, and now he will protect his beloved with his life.

A Wonderful Reason
Ao3
Words: 607
Summary:
And they meet, somewhere in the middle of the bustling, and they laugh, and they're just another couple in the crowd. and it's so, so very wonderful. And he finds it a wonderful reason for a festival.
(me going ham because I love festivals and the idea of the festival of lights seems so fun)
Contents and Warnings: festivals, just some light fic,
______
The evening lights here were beautiful.
A wonderful collection of paper lamps, homemade and brought, filled with joy and memories as they were crafted. As well as mass-made, filling booths alongside small prizes. So that as the night ends they can be released into the river.
The street lamps, usually lit brightly, were instead turned off in favor of fairy lights hung between, dipping and going, leaving a halo on those walking below.
  It was all so pretty.
And it was so incredibly filled with cheer too, Vikesh hovered just above the ground- not enough to be noticed, yet enough to not have to deal with the dirt coating onto their skirt.
He watched people bob and weave, parents barely able to hold their children's hands as they ran with vigor to the next booth. Couples just walking, sometimes with purpose, grins so bright they felt warm, and sometimes aimlessly, more focused on talking and each other than anything else.
Friends just laughing, having fun, teasing.
Fireworks and sparklers, spread about with muted snaps of lights, giggles lacing into the noise.
It felt bright, and warm, despite the chilled fall evening, the bodies of all kinds, overworlders and the couple end and nether folk blended into a mix of happy , of laughter and joy.
  And it was just beautiful
The booths of food, mostly breads and vaguely sweets definitely added to the warmth.
It wasn't usual she actually got to visit towns.
But with big crowds full of people much larger, and of people the smiling folk find of more personal importance, one slightly oddly placed God could go unnoticed.
Maybe not all the nights, Maybe he could only visit it once this festival.
Maybe the tensions would only allow one night of sneaking away.
But it was a festival of the lights and they were the lights.
And so they let themselves go unnoticed, taking in the warmth of the food, the lights, the sparklers, the people.
  Let themselves scan the crowd.
Vikesh loved these festivals, they really did. Beautiful and bright. Chattering. The smell of sweet breads wafting through the crowd.
  Everyone was having fun.
And that's what it was for wasn't it? In these times? It was just an excuse to laugh, to smile.
An excuse to be around those you love.
And as Vikesh finally made eye contact with a stranger across the crowd, a stranger with beautiful brown eyes who sees them and smiles.
Smiles so brightly it makes him wrinkle in those same beautiful eyes, and Vikesh feels light in his chest at the smile, so stunning in its way, so lovely and wonderful. It in of itself disregarding how many times he repeats he's not lovely. And reinforcing how many times Vikesh tells him that he is.
He sees him and he smiles and waves, and Vikesh waves back.
And they meet, somewhere in the middle of the bustling, and they laugh, and they’re just another couple in the crowd.
and it's so, so very wonderful.
And he finds it a wonderful reason for a festival.
Just to be around those you loved, those you cared about.
And it makes everything around just so much more beautiful, and the festival seems so perfect, and it may be entirely possible Vikesh is just soft.
But a chilled evening of warm orange light, sparklers, and the vague smell of wonderful warm foods. It seemed so very beautiful.
For one evening, Vikesh could forget the other gods, the war, and their beloved could too.
  Their beloved stranger and them.
Just another face in the crowd.
And what a wonderful reason for a festival.
