The Best Vidding Safe Haven?
Forgive the "read bait" meme above but if you are reading these words right now that means it worked. If you are a vidding fan then it was worth it. Vidders.net was born July 19, 2010. It is a Vidder-friendly AO3 Embed Certified Vid hosting & streaming site with over 18K vids. Its growth benefited from You Tube's increased use of content ID and the closing of Imeem. It was mentioned in the "Vidding: A History" book by Francesca Coppa. Its members (most who host some great vids there) include:
Luminosity
Lim
Laura Shapiro
Lithiumdoll
Obsessive24
Clucking Bells
Charmax
Bradcpu
thedothatgirl
kiki miserychic
Milly
Hollywoodgrrl
bop radar
Loki (secretlytodream)
Condsdmlk
newkidfan
NCISMelanie
Shoopdancer
Absolute Destiny
SD Wolfpup
Arefadedaway
camelia1986
adfproductions
Astarte
Such Heights
Mithoborien
mresundance
Just to name a few. You may not recognize these names but if you do you know these vidders literally made a name for themselves with the quality of their work during that time. At least in my opinion. The site is a time capsule of awesome vids even if some of the vidders listed are no longer active. Additionally, it hosts vids no longer available on You Tube like "Boom Boom Ba" by Charmax (a classic Xena vid). And yet it can still host new content without the issues faced on some other vid hosting options.
How much does it cost to host and stream all those vids? Well, that is one of the reasons for this post. The assumption I'm making is that if there is a Vidding "community" it's more likely than not that members of it would see a post like this and/or share it with fellow members of the community. Is it worth it to keep a site like this around? It's mostly been a solo operation for these past 13 years but now I am starting to wonder after such a long time.
I'll spare you the obligation of filling out a poll or survey. I'll make it simple. We have a Patreon account at patreon.com/vidding. If you don't feel it's worth keeping up. Nothing to do. Thank you for reading this far. If you feel there is some value based on what was mentioned earlier, then a minimum level of support at the Patreon is $1 a month. You'll not only be supporting the Vidders.net but other projects like the recent purchase of the Vidding.com domain name and more. The OTW October fundraiser drive begins in October and is on track to raise about 250k. Rasing even 1 percent of that amount would be more than adequate. After all Vids on AO3 make up less than 1 percent of the content on there anyway. I've been told by a fellow fan that I should keep it running but if it's not even supported by a community, it's a personal expense at my expense I am on the hook for. Again, there is no survey or poll to take but if you have questions that may help you determine your willingness to support just contact me. If you find value in preserving the site just visit Patreon.com/vidding or get your questions answered. This form of funding is more sustainable than occasional stop and start donation efforts we've done in the past. If you prefer another form of funding let us know.
I will check in by the end of October to see where things are. I am not going to do anything drastic. It's just that it's been 13 years and I started to wonder especially with my current financial situation but didn't want to do anything without communicating the situation. The site costs about $720 a year to run. At about $60 a month to run so it should be doable.

Hi! So I have a rambling explanation that’s going to lead into a genuine question about making a website somewhat like a03 or finding alternatives to a site I will mention (it’s not a03 don’t worry)
I am a non/disney editor, crossover artist, amv maker and deep faker and any other term for “make videos of characters in canon or au type scenarios to music”. I’m also a fanficcer. And I remember when being wary of Anne Rice and Archie Comics and DC was a thing. A teacher, to cover his ass for an assignment of mine, taught me how to write an apology letter to a company on the offhand my hand written basically Batman fanfiction, made it’s way online or was heard about. I was in the tail end right before A03 but I am extremely grateful that the site exists. Okay. So now I need to talk about the Owl House. In season three episode special one, Luz Noceda makes an amv coming out to her mom.
Editor friends in a private discord were both happy and worried. Luz is one of us….but also Disney knows about us, to some level. Nothings happened I’ve just been stewing and I’m just worried something might hit the fan for the community given many of us use Disney media (hard not to when 80% of things put out is by them) So I’m asking how one would make a platform like A03 but for video media. Or if there’s things you know like that. YouTube is getting more and more difficult for anyone nowadays too.
Again, nothings really happened yet, I just can’t get it out of my head
--
Video is worlds harder than text, but you know that.
There are a couple of approaches here: First, more is more. The more sites you have your stuff on, the smaller the chance that Disney can nuke all of them. Second, if you're not just using youtube and getting good at playing the algorithm, you need some way for people to find you or to keep track of all your alternate hosting.
Vidders of the oldschool sort have taken to using AO3. It doesn't have native hosting, of course, but it provides a stable URL and useful fandom-based tagging without algorithm bullshit. It's also a decent way to get vids out there if you only have download links and no streaming (though, of course, that means fewer views). You can embed a bunch of different copies of the same thing in the same work.
I don't know of a ton of fannish attempts at video hosting that are open to everyone. The only person I can think of who's heavily working on that is the guy behind Vidders.net who has a few different projects going.
For other hosting options, I'd see what AO3 currently has whitelisted for embedding. Two obvious ones are Critical Commons and Archive.org.
--
Broadly, yes, fanvids and AMVs have been subject to even more disastrous mass deletions than fanfic has, and far fewer of them have been saved by other fans because video files are huge.
Oldschool AMVs in the strict sense (i.e. Japanese anime and not Disney) are catalogued and sometimes hosted on animemusicvideos.org. Oldschool Media Fandom has some vidding archivists, and really old stuff was released on tape and then disc, and people still have their copies of those. But online-only fannish video stuff from the 00s and 10s has massive gaps in the historical record already.
Disney is quiescent now, but they haven't always been, and neither have other rights holders. Worse, a bunch of hosts vidders liked just up and deleted their entire sites, wiping out eras of videos and commentary.
Your stuff is in less danger than it would have been 10 years ago, as far as anyone can tell, but video is always in massive danger of disappearing.
--
If you actually succeed at video!AO3, more power to you! I'm just skeptical that you'll be up to the technical and financial challenge if you don't already know more than you currently do, you know?
Hosting video has, among other problems, the issue that people trading actual abuse materials will upload their videos to your service. Hosts often play whackamole with illegal and traumatizing content. I've known people whose jobs exposed them to this shit, and they were... not okay.
I guess you could make things slightly easier on yourself if you restricted video to cartoons only, but then you'd have the same issues amvs.org does where people who start as one kind of editor start working with other footage and keep trying to upload the wrong thing.
It's often not really viable to host unless you make everyone pay and/or you're authorizing a few dozen accounts of people you've vetted, not running a service just anyone can sign up for. Hosting a hundred videos for friends that you have reviewed and know to be fanvids/amvs is a lot easier than hosting enough stuff that you can't personally review it all.
If you or anyone else is interested in trying to start a site, I'd go check out the various writings by Denise (who runs Dreamwidth). She has some twitter threads and posts on enforcement and running a platform. I remember she talked about the tech people use to detect CSAM from known law enforcement databases.
I don't want to be a downer here, but there are serious legal implications to being the actual host as opposed to just running a discord or something on someone else's platform and reporting some fucker if they try to post illegal shit.
--
If I were you, I'd get my buddies together, embed all our works on AO3, and then maybe make a collection or tagging standards so we could find each other's stuff.
For hosting, I'd add the Internet Archive, Vimeo, Dropbox, Google Drive, etc. to Youtube and do a periodic audit of AO3 works to make sure links were still working.
AO3 already has a lot of tags that have been made filterable, like Fanvids, AMV, Video Format: Streaming, etc.

Fanvids are back online.
I had enough space with the free account on Vimeo so all my fanvids are back online on Ao3 and Squidgeworld. If I do make more in the future, I would have no choice but to pay for more space. Because Ao3 and Squidgeworld only "white list" a few websites to host videos. YouTube might block some because of copyright music.
archive.org
bilibili.com
criticalcommons.org
google.com
vidders.net
viddertube.com
vimeo.com

#ao3#my question is how do ppl become like beta readers and editors?? is it usually a matter of 'author asks a friend'?#like.. is there a way to get into that 🧍🏽♀️#idk if that makes sense its 6am here n im still got sleep brain
A very good question! I've seen two ways folks typically get involved as a beta-reader or fan editor. A friend asking a friend is indeed option one, and extremely common. It often develops from being a vocal part of the community, leaving comments that pull out favorite turns of phrase or analytically admire the way a work was constructed. Note that these sorts of introductions do not explicitly offer criticism or editing advice! Often established authors have beta-readers they already are comfortable working with, and unless they are explicitly putting out a public-all-call, offering to beta-read will just seem callous and forward.
If you're comfortable looking for a shortcut and just want to get involved in editing for a particular fandom, then the second technique is to get involved in a more active fandom space, like a forum or discord. Sometimes those will have a designated thread set aside for writers looking for beta-readers to step up.
A last note on this topic: beta-reading, like any sort of editing has a variety of levels from 'whole plot therapy' to 'sensitivity reader' to 'grammarian patrol.' Recognizing what you're best at, or conversely what you're not qualified for will help you make yourself a safer gamble for an author to invite in to beta-read.
P.S. While OP (paganinpurple) was correct in many ways, I'm afraid I must contest their last point. In fact, A03 hosts fanworks in general without the distinction they have made in the last point. A03 can host fanfiction, fanpoetry, and does in fact host fan-not-fiction. Just remember to tag appropriately. Some options to warn readers they aren't in for fanfic might include: meta-analysis, not!fic, fanvid. Technically you can post audio, video, and image files as well, but it seems that for now the infrastructure of A03 requires the files be hosted on another site (archive.org, bilibili.com, vidders.net, etc)
AO3 Etiquette
It would seem a whole new kind of AO3 reader/writer is emerging and it is becoming clear not everyone quite understands how the website community works. Here is some basic guidance on how most people expect you to go about using AO3 to keep this a fun community archive that funtions correctly:
Kudos is for when the story was interesting enough to make you finish reading. If it sucked or was badly written, you probably left. If you finished - you kudos.
If you liked it, you should comment. It can be long and detailed or a literal keysmash. Writers don't care, we just love comments.
No critisism unless the author has specifically asked or agreed to hear it. Even constructive critisism is a no-no unless an author note tells you it's okay. Many people write as a fun hobby or a way to cope with, among other things, insecurity. Don't ruin that for them.
Do not comment to ask the author to write/update something else. It's tacky and off-putting and will probably have the opposite effect than the one you want.
There is no algorithm, it's an archive. Use the search and filter function to add/remove the pairings/characters/tropes etc. you want to read about and it will find you the fics that fit the bill.
For this to work, writers must tag and rate stories. This avoids readers finding the wrong things and missing the stuff they want. I don't care how cringy that trope is in your eyes - it gets tagged.
Character A/Character B means a ROMANTIC or SEXUAL relationship of some kind. Character A&Character B is PLANTONIC, like friendship or family.
Nothing is banned. This is an implicit rule because banning one thing is a slipperly slope to banning another and another, until nothing is allowed anymore. Do not expect anyone to censor for you. Because of the tags system, you are responsible for your own reading experience.
People can create new chapters and sequels/fic series any time after they "complete" a story. So it's considered perfectly normal to subscribe, even to a finished story. You can even subscribe to the author instead just to cover your bases.
Do not repost stories or change the publishing date without an extremely good reason (like a complete top to bottom rewrite). It's an archive, not social media. No one cares what's the most recent, only what fits their tag needs.
Avoid deleting a story you wrote if you hate it - orphan it so others can still enjoy it, without it being connected to you anymore.
This is a creative fanfiction archive. No essays on your insights or theories please. There are other places for that.
I KNOW there's plenty more I missed but I'm trying to cover most of the basics that people seem to be struggling with.
I invite anyone to add to this, but please explain, don't berate.

Vidders.Net and VidderTube: Fan Run and Fan Funded Streaming Video Platforms
Currently, there are few fan-run streaming video sites that offer hosting for fanvids.
Vidders.net, which is run off the Ning platform, offers members uploads at 15 fps.
VidderTube, which is also run by the moderator of Vidders.net, offers members HD/30fps uploads for a modest annual fee.
Both Vidders.net and VidderTube are the only fan run alternatives to YouTube that are white listed for embedding at AO3. Because they're low profile, they are able to offer YouTube vidders a haven for streaming fanvids that are blocked on YouTube. Both networks are set up to archive and back up any content hosted on their network.
Projects that Vidders.net/VidderTube have worked on this year:
1. Set up alternative streaming for a vidder whose vids had recently been blocked on YouTube.
2. Set up a code to backup and/or import a vidder's entire YouTube channel to their network.
3. Offer YouTube vidders the ability to backup their channel video comments. 4. An intuitive cataloging system to filter vids by numerous criteria 5. The ability to distribute & view vids through smart TVs using Kodi/XMBC
Vidders.net current operating expenses is around $650 a year and is funded in most part by member donations. Annual costs vary depending on the Ning service plan that is selected. VidderTube is funded by memberships and the current annual cost is $250 (this cost increases with more streaming/downloads).
If you are interested in supporting Vidders.net's efforts by making a donation go here vidders.net/main/authorization/signUp (you can sign up using Google, Facebook, Twitter, or You Tube Social Logins as well as creating a Vidders.net account) If you'd like to become a member of VidderTube to gain access to HD uploads, you can sign up for membership at Vidders.net as well by using the same link above.

VCR - Vidding Culture Rescuers
Each word you read you leads you to the next and hopefully they are compelling enough to have you read this all the way through if you care about preserving Vidding Fandom History. It may be the case there are only 2 people primarily doing the work. Again, if this is a topic that interests you we would lovet to speak with you about how you can participate.
"Oh no, I am not a technical person! I don't think I could help with that and besides isn't that kind of work menial and boring?" I don't blame you for having those thoughts. Again, if this is a topic that interests you it would be worth having a conversation because you would be surprised. If this is a topic that does not interest then I thank you for reading thus far and you can scroll on.
Ok, good. if you are still reading (well of course you are or else you wouldn't being hearing these words in your head) I will tell you why your participation is so, so important. Vids that are rescued depend on those doing the rescuing. Even in physics the results are influenced by the observer. I and my partner do not want to be the sole arbiters of what is rescued and what is not. We need more eyes. You may be able to think of some work that only you know about that is worthy of being preserved.
Our job based on our experience is to show you how easy & fun it is for you to participate.
Join our Patreon! (very simple, financial support counts as support and maybe that's all you need to do to help. Servers cost money.)
Rec vids at VidRecs.com This will put vids on our radar to rescue and you can also check out some awesome vids others have recced.
Join Vidders.net and upload vids You Tube or Vimeo rejects. We already host more vids than AO3 embeds and we will archive them.
Reblogged and/or Like this post to raise awareness for others who might want to participate.
If you are tech savvy, we would love your help and/or feedback. We are too and we have some really cool archive scripts.
Have content you'd like backed up? Contact us so we can collaborate on saving a back up copy. We can be your redundancy.
Have a conversation with us about how you can help. There may be some other small way you can assist we haven't thought of yet.
In all of vidding fandom there are only 2 people preserving Vidding Fandom History that we know of and we don't want to do it alone. We will do it anyway (we've archived thousands of vids no longer available), but your contribution is a force multiplier. We can help you help us and you can help us help you. If this topic interests you, we'd love your help.
Thank you.
How do you contact me? I'll make it super simple. [email protected]. We own the domain. In fact, as a Patreon member you can get your own email forwarder at that domain.

A lot of fanvids have been recced on the Fancake community, many of them are Star Trek vids.
You can browse the Fanvid tag on AO3, and filter for whichever Trek series you prefer.
Vidders.net has a ton of vids, including Star Trek vids.
Many vidders hang out at https://vidding.dreamwidth.org/
Some of my personal favorite Star Trek vids:
Human Winner (Julian Bashir character study)
King and Lionheart (Janeway and Tuvok)
Grapevine Fires (Reboot + other Treks)
Dedicated Follower of Fashion (Garak)
Brighter Than The Sun (Reboot + other Treks)
Long Live (TOS + other Treks)
we came to learn the sea (Captains)
If You're The Captain (Janeway)
Machine (Seven of Nine)
White Rabit (TOS)
Dante's Prayer (K/S, Wrath of Khan and Search for Spock)
Where do you watch these star trek amvs
youtube........ where all the amvs live....................... i fear we are losing our way forgetting the noble art form of the amv.. this is so sad.. shall reblog with recommendations to spread the art to the amvless

BuffyTube rescued by Open Windows😉
Buffytube was a Vidding Social Network for Buffy Fans that hosted original uploaded content as well as You Tube & Vimeo embeds. All of a sudden it was gone with no notice to members and no time for them to archive their uploaded fanvids and fanart. A big loss to the community. Running an independent fan network along with healthcare (it seems) is hard. This sounds like the traditional frustration of fans about disappearing fan spaces but there is a twist ending.
I ran a similar network called Vidders.net which ran on the same platform and a passionate advocate for archiving. A few months before the site went down, I had an impromptu conversation with the admin of BuffyTube. I offered to help archive the site using archive tools they were not familiar with that actually already existed on the platform. So, I helped them like Juvenile to "back that thang up."
There are 457 BuffyTube vids transferred to Vidders.net using the Open Windows* 😉 project. They are there now - hosted and streaming. If you were a member of BuffyTube and uploaded content that you thought was gone for good join Vidders.net to get access to your vids. What's the process? Simply request to be a friend of the "BuffyTube" profile and once approved you will be able to view all the vids. You'll be able to view all the content that was originally uploaded to BuffyTube. I also have a meta-archive of comments for each video. The archive tools I used were very detailed when it came to what was able to be archived. Again, Join Vidders.net and friend request the BuffyTube Profile (image below). Here is the link to the profile. https://vidders.net/profile/buffytube
We also have all fanart originally uploaded as well. I am surprised at what was rescued. I found comic con type pictures of fans with Buffy the Vampire Slayer actors in addition to artwork. That has not been uploaded yet, but I can take requests to email you specific images if required.
If you want to support the work of Open Windows 😉 please consider the following which I can be remembered with the acronym FLIPS:
Follow our tumblr for vidding and archive related topics.
Like this post and help raise awareness about stuff like this.
Invest some time to assist in any projects you find interesting.
Patron - Become a patron for as low as $1, $2, $3, or $5 a month to support this kind of work. We not only archived vids and photos but also discussions, blogs and pages. Patreon.com/vidding
Share - You don't have to share this publicly but you can share this post privately with anyone who follows you that may be interested in work like this who would like to volunteer or become a patron.
If you have any questions, contact us.
Thank You! Update 10/9/2023:
There is now an inventory of the vids available online that can easily be filtered by vidder with one click access to view any vid based on title and description if you have the appropriate permissions on Vidders.net/BuffyTube Profile

BuffyTube is coming to Vidders.net
Back in the day there was this Vidding Social Network dedicated to fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and its universe. It was called BuffyTube. Just as soon as it arrived on the scene it disappeared without notice. Vidders and members didn’t have time to back up their content. It was dead & gone.
If you were a member and this post makes it way to you then there is good news. The entire site was archived shortly before its disappearance and is ready to be resurrected on Vidders.net There were about 460 fanvids on the site that were archived. However, there was also artwork, discussions, blogs, groups, etc. What about those? Those were archived as well.
If you were a member we’d love to hear from you. If you want to know if we were able to back up your content let us know. We are also having a tagging project to retag fanvids on Vidders.net. Contact us at the following link https://forms.gle/qNnNBTRdURdnQkFv9

Vidding Patron of the Arts
Post on Bluesky Here is the Link to the post If you are on Bluesky follow us there.
Not the perfect gif above but the best I could find to illustrate this point. Just as easy as it is to forget that life is short, it can also be easy to forget that when it comes to vids the internet is not forever. There is a lot of time & passion that goes into these occasionally virtuoso works of art. Unfortunately, not so much passion goes into preserving them and in some cases not even from the original artists themselves. If a vid no longer plays on YouTube did it ever really exist?
AO3 added 6,113 members from 74 countries for a total of $192,743.11 in 3 days which is great for fanfiction. Is there an equivalent for fanvids? Well, that depends on you. Yes, the person reading these words. Do you want to be a member of more than just a fanfiction site? Our Patreon for Vidding has 38 members & raised about $44 in the last 30 days approximately. You'll be in good company. 😀
74 donor countries are quite an ambitious goal at this stage for us. It would be great to start with the 50 states. Right now, we have about 10 patrons from 10 out of 50 states. You could help us with this puzzle and help fill in the missing pieces. Are you in one of the unrepresented 40 states and can afford to support our Patreon at a minimum of $1/month? if the answer is yes. Join our Patreon (https://patreon.com/vidding) Help us complete the US puzzle and then we can take on the world or not. The choice is yours. Who are we? We are primarily 2 people who are passionate about preserving fandom history when it comes to vidding and we are in search of the same. Combined years amongst us in fandom amount up to 45 years. We've been around for a while and here are some of our credentials.
Vidders.net vidding.tumblr.com Facebook.com/Vidding Twitter.com/Vidding YouTube.com/Vidding bsky.app/profile/vidding.com and most importantly Vidding.com Even on a shoestring budget we are working on some major projects we plan to reveal to our members by the end of the year. Become a member and experience it with our current members.

I’d like to add on that one of ao3′s officially “approved” sites, vidders.net, is similar to ao3 (html supported, entirely fan-funraised, noncommercial/no ads) and while it’s not as known and used as ao3, it’s looking for fundraising right now in order to continue hosting the server for fanvids! it would be very cool to see a new generation of fans and vidders support the site, one of the last remaining places where you can stream videos without ads :)

TRUE FANDOM HISTORY - VIDDERS.NET
What did Barak Obama, The Star Trek Reboot and a You Tube Vid have to do with rescuing 14,000 fanvids? What really happened? The following slide presentation tells the whole story including the events that formed the context for the Rise & Fall & Rise of the largest fanvid archive on the internet that we know of (14 years running). Hear it directly from those involved. Actual screenshots from Livejournal & You Tube Comments. If you never heard this story you'll be surprised how easy it for Fandom Works to disappear forever for trivial reasons. Get the popcorn. Documented Fandom History Stuff.

Fanvids: Time To Build Them A Home
There are over 4 million fanworks listed on AO3. But fanvids have gained little traction....and very little attention or support from AO3. Vids (like fan art) are lost in the fanworks crowd, stuck on the back shelf, and not easily filtered or located. Fans must upload their vids to increasingly hostile streaming sites and run a constant risk of DMCA strikes, takedown notices and channel deletions. In many ways, fanvids are still stuck in the same nomadic environment that fanfiction inhabited before AO3 was founded in 2009.
A few vidders are using AO3 to create a "home base" for their streaming vids. By embedding a fanvid on your AO3 page, you can keep all your comments and kudos even if your vid is yanked from Youtube or Vimeo or your account is wholesale deleted. You can hand out a single link to people (a link to the AO3 vid "home page") and you will only need to update the embedded vid if and when as needed.
Currently here are some of the video hosting sites that are "whitelisted" for embedding on AO3
YouTubeVimeo
Vidders.net
VidderTube
Internet Archive (yes you can upload your fanvids to the Internet Archive)
So...... as of Feb 2019, how many vids are on AO3?
8,760 (plus or minus).*
How many vidders have uploaded their fanvids?
1514 (plus or minus)*
There are over 4 million fanworks on AO3.
Fanvids consist is .2% (.002).
What can we do to improve AO3 to make it a better home for vidders and their fanvids?
1. Let your favorite vidders know about AO3 and that they can create a stable home base for their vids (we have a tool...let's use it)
2. If you are a vidder, create a page for each of your vids (those who do not participate are often never counted)
3. If a streaming site that you use (or would like to use) is not supported on AO3, contact AO3 and put in a request (as more fans move to federated fandom sites running PeerTube and Hubzilla, will AO3 be able to speed up site whitelisting? The Critical Commons website is no longer functionally whitelisted because they have not turned on HTTPS. Is anyone from OTW working with them? Looking for workarounds?)
4. Push AO3 to offer more support for locating and showcasing vids on AO3.(ex: Make the Video tag canonical so we can set up feeds. Are there other improvements we can ask for?)
5. Push the OTW to revitalize the Vidding committee (This will require that vidders and/or fans of fanvids volunteer)
6. Other ideas?
*Thanks to Garfield for doing the hard work of locating and categorizing the fanvids currently on AO3 and where they are stored. He points out that some vid pages on AO3 may have vids embedded or hosted in multiple locations.

lim posted about her success in disputing a YouTube takedown notice here
You might also want to consider uploading to alternate video sites such as vidders.net, the vimeo under password protection and the internet archive which has a community video section. All 3 streaming sites are whitelisted and can be embedded on AO3
Hello! Question for you regarding your ATLA Children's Work video: they have killed it on YouTube and I am desperately sad about it. Do you happen to have to posted anywhere else? It is legitimately one of my very favorite fanvids and I would dearly love to see it again, if possible.
(if no, please know it was absolutely beautiful and I will still think of it regularly. Thanks for having made it. 💜)
Thank you for reminding me about this! Your interest in seeing the AtLA vid again is very flattering and sweet, thank you. Children's Work is one of my favourite videos that I've made.
ngl I'm a little confused, because when they notified me of the partial region block, I'm pretty sure they said it was only blocked in Canada, but apparently that's backwards, I checked just now and it's blocked everywhere but Canada. So I can watch my own vid, fantastic.
Anyway, about getting it back, unfortunately I don't think I have the original video to re-upload somewhere else. Worst case scenario, I can always download it off youtube and re-upload it to vimeo, but I'd like to try to get it back on youtube if I can.
So I'm publishing this ask to poll the vidding community -- have y'all had any success disputing region blocks by Viacom? If it were anyone else I wouldn't hesitate to track down a copypaste fair use spiel, but Viacom is... very intense about copyright claiming on YT.
