Victor's lower eyelid twitched in annoyance. Clearly he took it as an insult despite Jekyll stating otherwise.

"For your information good doctor... you do not know what I am capable of-! I request that you do not look down on me for my youth... for I promise I can be capable of much more." Ah yes the bruised ego of a student.

"I am... well aware of your capabilities. But need I remind you that you have not even graduated. Without a degree you will be unable to perform in the field. Please do not hold yourself back over such a trivial matter!" Jekyll retorted as a concerned parent would to a child, frustrating the other man all the more.

"Very well..." Victor backed down all too easily at Jekyll's reasonable explanation. Couldn't argue with that logic.

WHAT COUNTS?

I don't really care! as long as the character is sort of sciency I'll take it. if we rock with them and they rock with unethical experiments and / or dangerous chemicals, I'll post them. not sure whether to submit a character or not? see if they have a picture of them in a lab coat. if yes, send, if no, question further. OCS are okay as long as you can provide 3 images of them (with appropriate art credit attached) and AU's are also cool.

in addition, while I'll probably not double post I'm okay with multiple variants of characters, especially classlit stuff. for example, i'd count tgs henry jekyll as a different character to the 1931 version, the mazm victor frankenstein as a different character to the frankenweenie one, etc etc.

Had a dream about fighting aliens and ryuk from death note LXG style with fucking Mazm Hyde(jekyll was there but hes an old man lmao),.LXG Jekyll, one of thanos's underlings, Frankensteins monster and Victor Frankenstein, TGS Jekyll (just jekyll) The invisible man but it was unclear if he was actually there or if it eas someone just moivng shit with their mind. At the end before i woke up Victor was like "I need you to fetch these letters for me" and they were receipts with "played by (actor name) oh Tom Bateman was there too but he was just tom bateman, but I had to read the letters to them and I started with mazm Hyde and lxg jekyll who had rooms across from eachother, Hyde had a solid door while everyone else had a little viewing window for some reason, jekyll was like "Oh he's sleeping don't bother him" and I went in (by this point I've realised I'm executive director???) And jumped on the bed until he started saying something?? But he had an American accent and a whiny high ptiched voice??? Everyone ended up in his room and so I read their receipts off to them but TGS jekyll was like "is there one from mister dombleton" (or something, it was a ton name though) and there was and he asked me to see him in his office, I agreed to it once I was done but in the meantime I talked to them all about their letters. I should note that Hyde's room was very dark because he didn't have windows and that LXG Jekyll was in a state of undress?? Also Tom Bateman showed up at the beginning om a boat and he ended up in my house and he started screaming because it was funny to him and so I screamed back and that's what summoned my gothlit marvel LXG etc etc fighting team. Also the aliens were generic greys and frankensteins monster had a weird monkey tail and was covered in wet concrete for some reason and TGS Jekyll was in sunglasses and was played by a generic white American man with the body of a twink. It was unclear why he was in sunglasses. He just was. MAZM Jekyll was played by Alfred Molina if that helps but he showed up once in a photograph.

MazM week Day 2 entry for Life! SORRY if this is both bad i just. don't care for victor lolol. 890 words below the cut.

Victor was starting to lose track of his memories these days. Every waking moment of his newfound recluse life was dedicated to making another life.

Health, love, happiness, sanitation, all discarded to the floor alongside the dirty mat he slept on. 

He was only 19, and his hair had already started greying. Victor wasn't a shallow man but... it bothered him nonetheless.

When he bothered to read the letters accumulated on his floor— courtesy of Hanna being kind enough to slip them underneath— he found that he couldn’t recognize the names addressing him at all.

Elizabeth and Henry…

As he attempted to recall the names, he felt his head throb heavy with a feeling he could only describe as a void.

A void that threatened to suck up the rest of his life whole until nothing of worth could be found.

He was fortunate Hanna had found him passed out in front of his door. With her aid he was eventually able to stand back on his own two feet.

But now he knew he was missing something. Memories that carved their way into his heart now slipped through his fingers. 

It didn’t bother him much, considering he expected it to happen eventually. Working with the Nepis he had, butchering them on a frequent basis. They were bound to have eaten a memory of two as he sewed them back to life. He only hoped they wouldn’t eat his tuition right out his skull.

What he wished he could have forgotten was the day he was caught red handed stealing cadavers right from the morgue. Embarrassing of course, but utterly mortifying as the owner of said corpses pinned him against the morgue door with his mere presence. 

Noah was well known as a scathingly calculating businessman by the residents of the tower. Prior to that night, Noah had always greeted him kindly with a good morning and a hello. Victor had underestimated the man’s wrath, and went for the steal.

How foolish he was.

He could never forget the low growl that purred in his ear. The growl that told him to never step foot in his store again lest he’d break Victor’s thieving hands. The man certainly seemed to have the strength to do so compared to Victor’s own lanky limbs.

And fortunately Noah could listen to money as Victor paid him for his silence. What Victor couldn’t pay for though was Noah’s courtesy, as the man’s cold blue eyes pierced right through his head.

It was terrifying how well Noah had kept his composure in the face of robbery, all the while Victor trembled like a mere mouse.

He shivered into the cup of tea he was drinking. 

Why did the Nepis not take that memory instead? He bemoaned to himself. His self-allotted break of 5 minutes was nearly over, and he wasted it all on recalling memories he didn’t want to.

With a pat of his pants that would never quite rid himself of the filth that caked them, Victor finally stood back up.

There was no point looking back at the past anymore. Not when he was sure his future would be oh-so-very bright with prospects.

He would create a new race of humans, all thankful to him for their feeble existence. A god-! A god. That’s what he would be.

Noah was a faithful devotee of his God, and the first thing Victor would do with his creation would be to show him his place.

Victor laughed to himself in the dead air. A maddened gleam clouded his eyes with his ambition.

No. He wouldn’t have done something as shallow as that with his magnum opus. But the idea was certainly tempting. To strike an equal amount of terror into the man exactly as he had done to him.

He approached the table hosting the torso he cultivated for his project. The patchwork of different skin tones had at first upset his sense of aesthetics. Yet now that he had a limited supply to work from, he couldn’t complain any longer. As long as his creation was functional, that was all he could ask for really.

Failure after failure, loss after loss: none had chipped his pride yet. His patience however had lost a bit of gallantry, no longer pushing him to wait for something better. 

His coal black eyes scanned over his journal, ensuring he still remembered where he last stopped.

Ah yes. Imbuing the body with vitality.

He had extracted a useless memory— courtesy of a Nepi— for that exact purpose. He held the small darkened crystal in his hand. It almost looked to be a shimmering black pearl in the dim candlelight. And the torso would be the oyster it found its home in.

With a practice hand, Victor inserted it right into the abdomen. Not a trace of blood was found on his calloused hands as he drained the body of it all prior. 

Nothing would happen as of then. After all, the body had no blood to pump through its cardiovascular system. But he held utmost faith that his method would be well-rewarded soon.

Soon it would all be worth it. His miserably empty life would find meaning in becoming a god in the barest of terms. 

He just hoped he could live long enough to see his dream fulfilled…

so in anticipation i will share my thoughts and my speculations on thy creature and some little things i noticed in the trailer and other materials mazm released. note: i havent played mazm much but however i am just so stoked about a frankenstein game sooooo

My Dumbass Thoughts on Thy Creature I Will Regret Posting (as of March 2021)

(SIDE NOTE: I will use he/him pronouns for the creature as the book uses this pronoun for him and in the MazM caption of the post, the pronouns were not explicitly stated or implied)

THE DESIGN OF CREATURE

Honestly? Very good and yet somewhat accurate to the book. As I, vaguely, recollect his description includes “yellowish skin; scars, stitches, long, dark hair; yellowish eyes, 8ft.”

In the MazM ver,

he has lots of scars and stitches

no yellow skin but his current skin is very becoming of the overall aesthetic

long hair but not dark

has a yellow eye

i am not so sure about his height but i conjecture it would be similar to the book

has some cool looking horns!! there is a mysterious, alluded, character whose presence is set up as this big mystery that is continuously hinted at. maybe symbolic of his past or his conflict with himself?

imo, the creature looks very innocent and not as horrid as he was described in the book :> (such a cutie!)

holding a white flower. symbolizing innocence, maybe?

GAME MECHANICS

A very fun impression though I might feel very frustrated because of the maze lol (im bad at mazes, i just panic). Not much to comment on

So as we can see, it plays out like a typical mazm game with the whole “approaching other people, seeing their well-designed sprites and reading their dialogue”.

but it introduces unique gameplay

other than what i previously mentioned, we can dodge certain attacks as we travel through a maze

and in some instances (the non maze part), we a little logo of sorts with “x75” beside to it.

maybe that is the number of lives we have

75 is quite the large number, exceedingly odd!

the game might be very difficult or something like that or maybe we only have to complete the game in a single attempt before retrying. idk much about game design lol

its on pc so maybe we will use wasd or the arrow keys to move

TRAILERS, TEASERS AND DETAILS

This is the part where I point out small details and seeing what they could mean and stuff.

Teaser:

at the start of a teaser posted on MazM’s instagram two days ago (Mar. 22), the narrator says “many unbelievable things happen in the world” and we see a fluffy white creature with horns similar to the creature’s and that one mysterious character. as what i have mentioned in the design portion, the creature has a white flower which could mean innocence. the small animal (?) seems to resemble a lamb, a known symbol of innocence. It seems like the theme of innocence will be a recurring theme.

we then see the creature and start the gameplay.

slides of text reads “struggle all you want before i am fair to everyone”... does it mean that the creature will treat everyone else poorly because of his mistreatment by the humans? i am not sure

In the gameplay segment, two black figures, whose silhouettes remind me of a wedding dress, express their concerns over someone (likely male because of the “he/him” pronouns). They say “Poor thing.” and “He needs his mother’s care”. hmmm mother’s care?

also the figures seem to be identical to eachother

after the segment, we see an old man with a scarred eye (maybe de lacey???) and a woman beside him (if the old man is de lacey, maybe agatha is the one beside him).

If my guesses are correct and they are the De Laceys, could they be allies of TC (the creature)?

After the scene w the duo, we see creature and the quote of “Why does she hate me?” Who is she? An OC? heck, maybe fem!Victor? that could be linked with “he needs his mother’s care” (if the quote is referring to tc) but the fem!Victor thing seems QUITE farfetched imo because i am just shooting in the dark w no braincells recovered from school. some of these are just probably from the mazm ver of the creature’s past

also ooo a book at the right-bottom portion and the screen and a counter for how many of those lamb-like creatures (chimeras? parallels to creature? idk)

after they show us a bit of the maze gameplay again, a book which is similar to the book i mentioned, is on the floor.

Maybe the book is actually Victor’s journal which you can collect to know some of the lore

TC approaches the old man and says “I came to help you, why are you frowning at me like that?” It is likely that the old man isnt de lacy because the old man is probably not (fully) blind upon perceiving him. if he is de lacey, theyre taking some “creative liberties” by not rendering him fully blind. grrr i wish i had more context >:((((

then after TC interacts with a book which contains a letter from Ingolstadt. Most likely written to Victor and it speaks of overdue books on human anatomy, etc.

Then some speedy text!! I am not able to procure all of them but I got “I am” and “everyone”.

By 1:01, we see the same mysterious entity with horns similar to the creature (except the horns are even).

There is a family portrait of (possibly) the Frankensteins to the right. I conjecture the woman is Caroline and the boy beside her is victor himself! :D

Anyway, my eyes feel a bit droopy and there is still a trailer but yknow i gtg. so see ya and thank you for enduring my dumb thoughts for this long. youre pretty cool <333

On that topic anyways. Thy creature propaganda time except i lovingly tear into it. Spoilers below teehee

I still have no idea why MazM completely removed the subplot between justine and the creature when its canonical in this edition of Frankenstein that william is dead and justine was framed for it. The murder the creature carried out. ????? They just never bring that up???? And it almost feels like they have justine there for like. Name recognition. Someone at team MazM felt rlly bad for her ig.

Her boss "Not Guilty" has red strings around her neck which i feel is a really interesting nod to how Justine was executed in the original book. Like mazm reads the books before making the games they say so in a qna. So its not as if they dont know. So like. wahts going on . even the early access acknowledged the creature killed william when justine runs off and cries at the end. Did they not have enough time to write it out???? Were they like shit we cant fix thjs shes gonna hate creature forever oh lawd oh gawd. Also like wouldnt creature recognize justine??? The woman it framed by putting a locket in her pocket????

Like i honestly think thy creature couldve avoided this problem (they would unfortunately have to get rid of the moral dilemma surroundinh the creature killing a child) would be to set the story before it even killed anyone. But iirc mazm said thy creature is like a midquel to Frankenstein, answering the question of what the creature did in between the time of it chasing victor. It honestly looked like in the demo traliers and shit that it was chasing the actual victor and not his nepesona. But then in the final version the payoff is just so...

Im not against a nepe victor, if done right. I think we as an audienve did suspect "victor" to be a nepe instead. But theres no payoff because the creature doesnt find any catharsis or any real answers. Victor the nepe brings up an interesting moral dilemma about what makes a human, but considering theres other plotlines that hadnt been touched, it feels a bit weak. The real Victor is there as a shadow of a character. Which yeah can be done right but it just isnt here BECAUSE, the victor in this version is a far nicer victor than book vic. He helps justine escape he took action. Even if he didnt hold himself fully accountable, the existence of his nepe being the concept of regret??? Hes lost so much of his memories had been spiraling downwards. Hes far far more sympathetic. This makes creature look way fucking worse.

In the first traliers from early 2021, the creature says something like "even after all this, youve shown to me you arent worthy of my humility", implying it met irl victor and realized he was a piece of shit. I think the only thing that makes final version victor look worse os the fact all his diff test subjects wanted to die after he made them and he had no second thoughts about it. But like. Thats kinda it. I still want noah to beat the shit outta him though lollll

THEY ALSO DROPPED THE BRIDE PLOTLINE???? WHICH SUCKS. they rlly said the real bride was the friends we made along the way. BOOOOOO

Jekyll: He's not bad, but I have some excuses. One, he didn't seem to care for his creation all that much, though I know how that feels, but he's the reason why the creation started killing everyone! And two, he dropped out of college, so I don't think he can consider himself a scientist unless he actually got his degree like me!
