have you watched fma 03 or are you watching it bc while it has its issues (transmisogyny in ep 8 in particular, some rushed/low budget stuff) i think if you're mad about the manga/brotherhood and particularly the treatment of scar and ishbal it feels healing in comparison

I’ve been deeply disappointed by things I’ve learned about people whose creative work I loved before (MZB, Johnny Depp, Vic Mignona, Sophie from Mars, plus a long list of writers and artists and actors who went off the MAGA deep end or who revealed themselves as homophobes or transphobes or racists or abusers), but the information that’s come put over the past month about Neil Gaiman has been especially distressing because Neil has been present in so many different internal social circles I’ve been on the edges of. It feels more personal than previous discoveries because his creative work and that of people adjacent to him or inspired by him has shaped so much of my adult fannish life. I’m a “death of the author”/“separate the artist from the art” type when it comes to fiction, so unlike many this doesn’t ruin Sandman or American Gods or Good Omens for me, just as MZB’s Sword and Sorceress anthologies and Darkover books remain beloved teenage memories of mine, but I’ll never be able to look at Gaiman’s interactions with fandom in the same way again. No more reblogging his tumblr posts or following his blog or any other parasocial interaction. Not now that I know how he’s treated people in his personal life.

Everyone talking about their experiences meeting Neil Gaiman got me remembering when I met the voice actor Vic Mignona, who was canceled a few years ago for SA and so many other similarly gross behaviours. I met Vic when I was around 16 at Fanexpo. I was a huge Ouran/FMA fan. I approached him at his table with my male friend, same age, and we all chatted for a while and I got my manga signed. Things turned weird when Vic whispered something in my ear using his Tamaki voice, a dub quote or something, and then after saying goodbye he kissed me on my cheek. Without asking. My friend got a hug although I can't remember if he was asked first. Anyway I was on cloud nine for the rest of that day, but over a decade later... knowing now about the nasty allegations and charges against him... its just so obvious to me how wrong that was. He was a grown ass adult man kissing a 16 year old girl without consent.

Back to Gaiman— I see a lot of folks struggling to reprocess their fan encounters with him and I just want to say I totally get it. It's okay if at the time your interaction with him made you the happiest nerd in the world. It's hard to deal with memories like that tarnishing, so don't beat yourself up over your own ignorance and innocence. These predators are getting what they deserve.

(look at bros merch shop. and the name of his fan club. and the art for it.) spends basically the entire series both times shitting on God relentlessly. his fav character to voice literally tells God to fuck himself irl. like edward elric is the most Un-Christian character EVER out of like, his WHOLE lineup

also vic mignona: a DEVOUT christian. posts a sermon LITERALLY DAILY. besides some music promotion, his tiktok is ENTIRELY him talking about God

Just saw a TikTok of vic mignona being a scab, saying hes "not interested in the politics of the sag-aftra strike", and being a trumper. But since he's been blacklisted from voice acting for years because he harasses teenage girls and women and he's homophobic, half the comments were teens saying "who is this" and personally I love that he's irrelevant now.
