editing this film be like. waits 10 minutes for this 10second secene to export and then doesn't check the exported footage because i know there'll be a glitch of some kind in the rendering and i don't have the time and energy to deal with it

i think we should stop editing films. just release them with raw footage only. look at marvel movies and imagine the special effects. or just appreciate the guys dressed in silly suits
#learning how to edit and do vfx for the short film I'm doing in college#despite my course being meant to include vfx. i have not been taught anything im just throwing spaghetti at the wall#the guy in my group with loads of vfx experience + who promised to do the editing#is caught up with like an internship. so I have to do it#with zero experience#and our footage looks terrible i want to scream no way im including this in any future portfolios#we weren't allowed to build sets so it's a lot of greenscreen and miniatures. going badly.#argentashes#vfx/editposting

final vfx post. we got feedback and my work on stopmotion animation + vfx got praised (i am neither an animator nor into vfx/have vfx knowledge) which is very cool. the colour grading (all done by me (no vfx knowledge prior to this) because again, the one guy in our group whos good at vfx Didn't Do Anything) was criticised but like... oh no the thing i started learning a week ago isnt up to professional standards? sad! anyway.

finally saw the fruit of my suffering (the film I've been doing vfx on (vfx baptism by fire) (awful experience I hate vfx)) and got gifted a succulent and a chocolate orange as thanks from my project partners and then had a shot of vodka and then ran into a former classmate i had a crush on and she was sooo pretty and nice and friendly and I don't normally do shots so I felt tipsy and oh my goddd i should've asked for her goodreads or smth as an excuse to keep in touch. um anyway I'm now headed home to have pizza night with my family and my dog :3

the footage was glitched buuut when I looked back, an earlier take/earlier edit i did actually wasn't glitched and in fact looked Better than later takes so . problem solved .

spent all day today tediously doing a thing bc i couldn't figure out a faster or better solution only for the one vfx teacher to show up an hour before finishing class and finding me a faster solution in five minutes flat. the solution could also be done in five minutes. im boycotting the vfx industry
