In Umbrum Luna est.

--------‐----------‐---------‐---
The Moon is a beacon in the dark, a soft light guiding the beings of the world. She is the one who guards and creates dreams, so the denizens of Equus may slumber peacefully. She gracefully paints the sky with stars, giving rise to wonder in many hearts.
But the Moon, as we all know, has a dark side.
Once upon a time, in the magical land of Equestria, there were two regal sisters who ruled the land. They ascended beyond mortality and grew in power and size.
The elder, the Sun Sister, was loved and regaled as lifebringer and the lucky star. Her voice was seen as a boon of luck, indicating that you would live long. If your foal was born at sunrise on a Sun's Day, your foal would only know happiness. The mortals of Equus sang of Her, whispering prayers and bestowing love and devotion upon Her.
The younger, the Moon Sister, wasn't so lucky.
In times long past, nights were seen as something to be feared. Creatures dangerous to mortals were awake by night, stealing away precious lives in the dark. What stars She danced with were regarded as ill omens, giving rise to foul prophecies. The dreams She crafted were said to be bad luck, a sign of your life ending. It was said that if the Moon spoke to you, you were cursed, and your legacy would be that of a heretic.
Thus, the Moon was shunned, reviled, and hated. But legends give rise to power.
As the Sun had life and luck woven into Her magic, the Moon had curses, death and ill fate piled onto Herself, and those legends began to change Her. Her Voice went unheard, Her patterned sky unseen and Her dreams unloved. Isolated from the mortals She loved so much, the Moon grew resentful.
We created our own self-fulfilling prophecy.
The Fall of the Moon was a tragedy of our own making. Now that our nights are filled with warm, restful sleep once more, heed this warning, filles and colts of the future.
We must never pile fear and hate onto our Goddesses. For fear begets fear, and hate begets hate.
