I ACTUALLY WORKED AT WEBNOVEL ONCE SO I CAN SHED SOME LIGHT ON THEM
I was more of an intern and even though I signed on as an editorial intern, I think the entire "internship" was disguised as a way to train authors on popular works on the site so they'd be primed to make stuff that appeals to their existing demographic. Either way, I am sadly very familiar with this site and some of the behind-the-scenes.
As far as I understand/remember (I was an intern in 2021):
No, fanfic authors cannot earn money off their works. Copyright and such prevents you from earning that money.
HOWEVER, original authors do earn money off their work. The caveat is that you have to create a very specific type of story for it to be monetisable. This is why there are editors hired at Webnovel for these paid authors. Contracted authors will get a base amount of money plus (a small portion of) how ever much their stories have earned from the on-site currency. As interns, we even met authors that do earn a sizeable income from what they write on the site. Idk if it earns them a living, though. So yes, you can earn money from Webnovel.
That's not to say it isn't predatory btw. I'm sure the company is earning wayyyyy more from their non-contracted authors bc they don't get anything from the on-site currency spent on their stories. Fuck webnovel fr.
I got this comment on a story from my Other AO3 Account this morning.
(Info redacted because I prefer keeping these accounts separate but no one follows me on the side blog I have for that account.)
The story was posted almost a year ago and is relatively âpopularâ by my average statistics even though it has tropes and themes that are big turnoffs for a lot of people (hence separate accounts). This popularity is undoubtedly because itâs a Marvel Loki story and that fandom is massive.
So there is obviously an algorithm or a bot scrubbing ao3 statistics and leaving this comment on fics that meet a certain metric with the main character of the fic inserted into the comment.
I had a little time to kill this morning so I decided to investigate further. And yâall this is so predatory. Come on this journey with me. It made me mad. It may make you mad.
First, if you go to Webnovelâs website, you HAVE to choose between male lead or female lead stories before you can go any further. WTF?
And thatâs weird, but this gets so much worse. This is basically a pay-to-read site that has different subscription models. Which⌠okay BUT! The authors donât get paid! Look at that comment again. Theyâre promising a supportive and nurturing community, but zero monetary compensation. Itâs basically, âpost your stuff here so we can get paid and you can get⌠nice vibes?â I mean look at this Orwellian writing:
Using the phrase âpay-to-read modelâ in the same sentence as âqualitative changes in lifestyles for authorsâ deliberately makes you think that you can get paid and maybe even make a living on this website. But thatâs not actually what it says and authors will not receive one red cent.
Oh but wait, the worst is still to come. In case this breaks containment (which I kind of hope it does) this is where I mention that Iâm a lawyer in the US.
I donât do intellectual property or copyright law but I do read and write contracts for a living. So I went to look at their terms of service. It was fun!
Highlights the first, in which Webnovel gets a license to do basically whatever they want with content you post on their site. This is how they get to be paid for people reading authorsâ writing without paying them anything.
Highlights the second, in which Webnovel takes no responsibility for illegally profiting off of fan fic. This all says that the writer is 100% responsible for everything the writer posts (even though only Webnovel is making money from it).
Highlights the third which say that by posting, the author is representing that they have the legal right to use and to let Webnovel use the content according to these terms. So if a writer posts fan fiction and Webnovel makes money from people reading the fan fiction, and the House of the Mouse catches wise, these sections say that thatâs ALL on the writer.
So thatâs a little skeevy to start off with but the thing that is seriously shitty and made me make this post was that these assholes are coming to ao3. They are actively recruiting people in comments on their fan fiction. And they are saying they are big fans of the character youâre writing about and that they share your interests.
They are recruiting fan fiction writers and giving every impression that you can make money from posting fan fiction on their site and hiding the fact that you absolutely cannot but they can make money off of you while you try, deep in their terms of service which no one but a lawyer who writes fan fic and has some time to kill will read.
I see posts on here regularly from people who donât understand how this stuff works, donât understand that they (and others) can not legally make a financial profit from fan fiction. And there are tons of people who will not take the time to dig into the details.
Donât deal with these bastards. Fuck Webnovel.
#if ppl wanna hear about my exp being trained on webnovel top 25 content#i can go on all day. it was.... awful#very weird that i was hired for content support but i was just made to read and write????#webnovel was a fever dream#sorry op if i derailed the og post#just wanted to say yes u can actually earn money#im assuming they want to get more fanfic authors bc they can earn money off of them#alternatively they want fanfic authors to jumpship and write original work so they can monetise it and or own the copyright

On the topic of the previous post, I've been having some Thoughts about Varric and my (pro-mage, Andersmancing) Hawke lately, let me see if I can get them down into words.
Like... okay, let's start at the beginning. Varric meets this refugee who he's heard a lot about, hires him onto an expedition. They start working together and Varric realizes this guy is pretty funny, always down for a laugh and a drink at the Hanged Man. They have very compatible personalities and quickly become good friends.
Varric is settled in deep in Kirkwall, and over the years Hawke gets settled in pretty well too. His family retakes their estate, he starts doing jobs for and around the Viscount, and he seems to be the only one the Arishok will talk to which is pretty important for the overall wellbeing of the city. This culminates in Hawke becoming the literal Champion of Kirkwall, the savior of their city. That's about as entrenched as you can get.
Alongside all of this is Anders, who is also friends with Varric and generally down for a joke and a good time, but who can get a bit too serious about mage rights for Varric's tastes. It's not that Varric has a huge difference of opinion on the matter, it's just that he'd rather not have to think about difficult things like that. He's happy and content in his life, and he has everything he needs right where he is. What happens in the Circle stays in the Circle, it doesn't affect Varric.
When Hawke begins his relationship with Anders, Varric jokes about it. "Are you sure about the possessed mage?" It's taken lightheartedly, because Hawke is his best friend and he supports whatever weird relationship choices he makes. "You do you, Hawke, but that's probably gonna end badly."
And then The Last Straw happens. And then the Chantry is destroyed, and fire rains down over the city, his city, and Varric watches his best friend side with the man who did it, his lover and partner who he has supported all of these years, and for the first time Varric is forced to actually recognize that Hawke and Anders share the same values. "I'm not sure we should be doing this" he says, in some vain hope that, I dunno, maybe Hawke will turn around and say, "You know what you're right bestie, let me just put the lid back on this stewing mage rebellion and then everything will be normal again and we can forget this ever happened".
Instead he watches Hawke put a different cause above the wellbeing of his city--their city, the one he thought they both cared just as deeply for--for the first time, and then he watches Hawke and Anders and all the newly freed mages leave.
Years later when the Inquisitor asks Varric about all of this and he reminisces about Hawke and scoffs about Anders, it's in this almost longing, mournful way of someone who lost a friend and blames their significant other for it. There's a part of Varric that, even then, is still thinking, "if only Hawke had never gotten in bed with Blondie, then maybe he'd have made the 'right' choice and we'd all still be together having drinks at the Hanged Man." But he knows that will never happen again, because he knows even when Hawke comes to Skyhold that when he leaves he's going back to Anders.
When he tells stories of Hawke's adventures and leaves out the parts about Anders, or actively talks shit about him, it's because it's easier to blame everything that happened solely on Anders rather than admit Hawke was a different person than Varric thought he was.
#been having a lot of feelings lately about the immediate post-da2 events#because hawke and anders and bethany get the fuck out of town#does varric go with them?#does he stay behind?#how bitter is he if he goes vs if he stays?#if he goes how long does he stay with them before he can't do it anymore?#lego talks da#avery hawke#anders#varric tethras#dragon age

5/30 The pseudohistory of Prometheus
(Previous) | (Index) | (Next)
âŹ
We return to a movie I wish to send on a journey down the Kola Superdeep Borehole, Prometheus.
And my insanity truly begins in this segment. We are only 1/10th of the way through the movie so far. Content warnings for discussion of racism in pseudoscience and historical anthropology, Spider getting hung up on logistics and space nerd stuff, and pictures of Yuri Knorozov, the most sour-faced man to ever live.
The cast sits down for a briefing. This is a scene with an easily identifiable narrative function: providing exposition to the theater audience. The act of doing a briefing makes sense. It is the last thing here that will.
We are introduced to a hologram of Peter Weyland, the financier of the expedition. The name means all sorts of Lore to the series, but whatâs intensely distracting is that we seem to have caught Weyland halfway through applying his zombie makeup.
Weyland is played by Guy Pierce. As of the filming of this movie, he was somewhere around 45 years old. Yes, they smothered this Australian in old man drag so that he could play this character. This is a baffling decision, that only gets slightly less baffling if you know the production history of the movie, which I did not at the time.
youtube
Guy Pierce was hired to play a younger Peter Weyland. Thereâs a promo video out there of him giving a fictional TED Talk in the not-to-distant future of next Sunday AD 2023, there were various plans for him to appear in the movie proper. None of those scenes are actually in the movie. They refused to double-cast the role for some reason. While the practical effects in the movie are generally excellent and it does make the tiniest smidge of sense that a hypercapitalist asshole would be portrayed as a literal rubber-faced movie monster, this, like many things in Prometheus, made the movie a very weird sit. One where I was increasingly less open to going along with the movieâs fiction. You are telling me that this is an actual human man. I am not buying it. He looks far less human than David, the only non-human there.
Speaking of David, Weyland calls him âthe closest thing to a son I will ever haveâ, and then immediately says David is an inhuman lesser being, who does not appreciate the specialness of his existence because he does not have a soul.
Which is funny, because I think you can see Davidâs soul leaving his body at this exact moment.
Weyland then tries to mash in some existential weight to the movie: they might finally get an answer for âwhy are we here?â and all that jazz! He also tries to explain why naming a ship Prometheus is totally not like calling it Titanic II: Donât think about the part of the myth where Prometheus is chained to a rock and has his ever-regenerating liver eaten by an eagle every day! Think about the bit where he brought fire to mankind! Weâre gonna bring back that bit!
And then the archaeologists take over the briefing, and this, THIS, is the bit where they entirely lost me. My suspension of disbelief had already been strained by multiple oddities up to this point. My skepticism about these characters in particular was already a bit elevated by their implied invocation of the ancient astronauts concept.
Turns out, only Vickers, Shaw, and Holloway know why theyâre here.Â
Two years away from Earth. On a massively expensive expedition that intends to make first contact with an alien culture, the first alien culture that humankind has ever found evidence of. Nobody has been briefed up until this point.
This is lunacy.
Explanations have been figured out by fans since then: this is a passion project by Weyland, an annoyance to the rest of the corporate structure that nobody else believes in. The movie eventually intimates this, through Vickers.Â
Fans have thus speculated that Weyland was just quarantined off to do his little alien hunt, with no logistical support that would make it actually functional. He believed a crazy theory put forward by Shaw and Holloway, and everyone else wasnât actually best-of-the-best, they were just whoever would take a big paycheck to do fuck-all for nearly five years of sleeping their way to and from their destination.
I am willing to consider that this was intentional. The movie possibly tries to confirm this with Mr. âIâm here for the moneyâ Fifield, but none of the other characters have enough characterization to determine if this is the general trend.
How could we make a story that more clearly spells this out? Maybe Millburn the biologist could encounter more of the crew talking about the payout from taking the job, or reveal that he himself has some project he needs money for. It would also chip away at the dearth of character-building dialog for most of the cast.
As a result of those deficiencies in characterization, a lot of my discussion of plot points is going to be focused around what they do, rather than why. âŚExcept when it is about the why, at which point the main commentary will be âWHY.â
In any case: while it makes sense, I'm still not certain the film meant for this character motivation. Prometheus is just so loudly explicit with so many of its plot points that it doesnât seem like this is the case. The movie certainly believes in the sincerity and correctness of the archaeologists, though.
Unfortunately, it also immediately tells me that theyâre a couple of wingnuts. Iâm not sure if it intends to, for reasons Iâll get into after I foam at the mouth for a little while.
They present a series of artifacts to the crew: Egyptian, Mayan, Akkadian, Sumerian, Hittite, Hawaiian, and their Scottish cave painting. All of them feature âmen worshiping giant beingsâ, who are pointing to what stargazer nerds call an asterism: a pattern of stars. Shaw and Holloway believe that these are aliens that engineered humans into their current state. Shaw literally says âitâs what I choose to believeâ as the entirety of their justification for this.
Again: I knew the movie wanted me to take this as truth, within its universe. Thatâs the implicit deal the movie has made with the audience, this is truth. You are supposed to be contemplating the "whys" of it all. But the movie had also smacked me in the brain so many times in the past five minutes, that I, like Millburn the Biologist, was ready to call bullshit.
I appreciate him for doing so, and it shows he could have been a smart character, but sadly, he is in Prometheus.
Because he is a fictional biologist and I am an actual biologist, I will expand on his argument, as I descend into ranting for the rest of the post.
Millburn objects on the basis of evolutionary history, which the movie only partially succeeds in papering over: the implication is that evolution on Earth was directed with the deterministic outcome of creating something like humans.
This opens up a whole new can of worms that the movie doesnât get intoâwhen exactly did this engineering start? When great apes evolved? When mammals did? Tetrapods? Skeletons? DNA itself? After all, we know the aliens, now dubbed Engineers by the archaeologists, have DNA. Did they seed all life on Earth? How did they evolve? Our last universal common ancestor is believed to have already been using DNA 3-4 billion years ago, evolving out of a likely RNA-based genetic standard. Hominins diverged from other apes around 15-25 million years ago. What sort of culture would undertake a project that required at least 15 million years on the extreme low end?
All excellent questions! The movie is not concerned with them. I am, and that is part of why this movie still lives in a special, awful place in my head.
This isnât actually what made me become actively hostile toward the archaeologists, though. What managed that, well! It was their archaeology. Anybody who had an Ancient Egypt Phase in their childhood should be able to articulate multiple reasons why the academic community wouldâve laughed these guys out of the building.
Bigness in ancient egyptian art does not indicate literal size. It indicates importance. In fact, the artifacts the movie uses exclusively come from artistic traditions which feature hierarchical or non-literal scale. Do the Engineers turn out to actually be eight feet tall? Yes! Am I still annoyed by this? ABSOLUTELY.
You know what else is a big problem? Many of the cultures they reference here had written language! A LOT of written language! They include Egyptian, Sumerian, Babylonian, and Mayan art in their evidence, all of which not only wrote a LOT of things down, but had a habit of annotating a lot of their art with labels to tell you what was going on! You can actually see some on the props they used in this scene!
Beyond that, they had very prescribed formal styles, where you can follow the action entirely through gestures, held objects, attendant symbols, and clothing! If all these cultures, as implied, had actual, direct contact with aliens, recorded in the art presented here, we would know what they were told.
Skipping ahead of the movie for a minute: the Engineers were apparently not telling humans âweâre here in these stars, come find usâ, they were telling humans âsettle the fuck down or this is where the hurtâs going to come fromâ.Â
Here's the thing. Ancient peoples weren't stupid. They wouldn't just not talk about this. If giant aliens came down from the sky and gave them a stern talking-to that contradicted their religion, that would be a big deal. And these characters specifically say the Engineers are being "worshiped" in these images! They're apparently taking onboard what's being said!
It is certainly possible for information to be lost. Over long time scales, that's unfortunately the rule, rather than the exception. But again: half the artifacts have writing on them!
I chose to believe that Shaw and Holloway simply did not attempt to read any available translations of attendant texts, and they were thus cursed for their foolishness by the ghosts of Mayan Studies pioneer Yuri Knorozov and Egyptologist Jean-François Champollion, and the still-extant spirit of Assyriologist Irving Finkel.
Knorozov knows your sins against Mayan Studies. Knorozov is a vengeful god. Chapollion and Finkel are likewise very cross.
Two last things stood out to me in the theater. One of them was extremely petty but tied into some very serious issues with pseudoscience, and the other one was not.
Pettiness first: the asterism shown in the artifacts is a pattern of six stars. The movie wants you to believe that it is very spooky that the only asterism that precisely matches this pattern are six stars that are too faint to see with the naked eye. This is laughable, both because the asterism is so generic-looking that I can think of several very visible asterisms that are good matches for the pattern, but it also recapitulates a bunch of really fucking annoying stuff from pseudoscientific bullshit.Â
First: Pseudoscience and pseudohistory likes to make a big deal out of the fact that every culture has stories about the stars. Why?Â
The sky is very important to every cultureâs mythology, because every culture can see the sky. Like, thatâs literally it. People can see the sky. They tell stories about it. Thereâs not much to do at night except look at the sky, when even keeping a fire lit can be an expensive prospect. It is not even the least bit weird when multiple culturesâall of them in the northern hemisphere in this case!âhave stories about the same stars.
Second: Cultures varied in their ability to faithfully reproduce celestial landmarks in art and align their architecture, and were not as exact as modern techniques can manage. Pseudoscience will claim that they are exact, when it fits their pre-existing theory, or fudge the difference if they want something to fit their claims.
(This is a photoshopped image, by the way.)
Were the stone age temples of Malta secretly aligned with a particular star that foretold the doom of Atlantis, precisely tracking its location through the sky over thousands of years of Earthâs axial wobbling? No! They were roughly aligned with the sun. Sunlight is important when you donât have electric lights. Were the Great Pyramids of Giza laid out ten thousand years ago to match the layout of the stars in Orionâs Belt, according to the designs of a legendary lost race of highly advanced non-African people? Were they tapping into the Earthâs magnetic field to generate energy? No! They were aligned with the cardinal directions, and they got them a bit wrong!Â
Hell, if we want to play at that game, I found a decent match for the asterism in Stellarium's Egyptian constellation set. Just flip this 90 degrees clockwise and you'll see I'm totally right. Aliens confirmed.
I know the movie is trying to tell me that all the asterisms in the art are precise matches for each other and are thus impossible to explain without intercultural contact (or aliens!!), but it is also showing me that they are not that precise. So, itâs just showing me stars. At least in some of them. Their little charcoal lad from the Isle of Skye may be throwing fruit at his audience.
In fact, there's a further, probably unintentional link to pseudohistorical claims in the artifacts presented: the Maya artifact shown does not actually depict a "giant figure" being worshiped, in fact, it shows one instantly recognizable, known figure in Classical Maya history: It is an altered version of the ornately carved coffin lid of KĘźinich Janaab Pakal I (24 March 603 - 29 August 683), with the top quarter of the carving replaced with a star pattern that looks nothing like the ones on the other artifacts.
The carving shows Pakal in the pose of an infant, entering into death and being reborn. It is packed full of so many symbolic elements that can be easily recognized by those more familiar with the Classical Maya than I am.
Conspiracy theorist Erich von Däniken thought that it showed Pakal rocketing away on a spaceship. Däniken proposed this because he didn't understand the cultural symbolism, but he had seen pictures of astronauts before.
And on that note, 2,400 words into this rant, we get to the actually bad shit. Unfortunately, it ties into the issue I had with the premise to begin with: the real-world context of pseudoscientific claims of ancient alien contact. Specifically, the racism.
Weâre going to unspool this more near the end of the movie, because there was further behind the scenes I was not aware of when I first saw Prometheus, and it just compounds this stuff.Â
So, when I went on my first tangent on how unpleasant ancient alien theories are, one thing I highlighted is that the further from Western Civilization you get, the more these theories presuppose that fellow humans are incapable of building great works or imagining interesting things. No, they had to be guided, and explicitly shown things that they copied down to the best of their limited capability.
The only european example of alien contact they show is from the Upper Paleolithic, 37,000 years ago. All the examples around the Mediterranean and Mesopotamia range from 5,500-3,700 years ago. The examples from the Classical Maya and HawaiĘťi are from 620 and 680 CE.Â
During this period, Tang Dynasty merchants were creating the first paper money as the famous female emperor Wu Zetian was on her way to the throne. The Prophet Muhammad went to al-Aqsa mosque, and weâre only eight years before the birth of Charlemagneâs grandfather. Weâre no longer talking ancient, itâs just old.
I want to emphasize that the movie is presenting these not as depictions of myths that have been passed downâthough there are more problems with that Iâll get into shortlyâthese are implied to be contemporary depictions of events witnessed by the artists, who were quite possibly instructed by the Engineers to record a precise pattern of stars. An equivalency is being drawn between stone age Europe, bronze age Africa and the Middle East, and a couple of startlingly recent Mesoamerican and Polynesian cultures.Â
But letâs be generous. Maybe these arenât supposed to be contemporary accounts in these two outlier cases: the movieâs script will certainly indicate later that they have no idea what theyâve implied here. Perhaps these are story traditions that were handed down from the Olmecs and Melanesian precursors of the first to sail to HawaiĘťi.Â
Unfortunately, this just recapitulates a different racist trope: that European and more âdevelopedâ civilizations invented so much cool and comfortable material culture and philosophy that they forgot the Mystical Religious Truths of the old ways, which were preserved only in Primitive Lands and among Uneducated Peoples, where they never found anything better to do with their time. Oh, if only we had heeded the warnings from those spiritually attuned non-white people!
youtube
(Look, I only remember Devil (2010), which has 50% on Rotten Tomatoes, because M Night Shyamalan wrote and produced it, and this was two years after The Happening came out, so I watched it out of morbid curiosity. It's not as unbelievably bad as The Happening, but as shown in the clip above, the spiritually attuned latino security guard Ramirez attributes toast landing jelly side down to Satan. That is an actual thing that happens in the movie. He is proven right.)
But let's be even more generous: someone probably realized that they'd focused near-exclusively on Middle Eastern cultures, and wanted to throw in a couple from elsewhere. Sitting here, having seen the movie in full, this is the most likely option: their inclusion creates a contradiction with a later scene, and was thus probably not checked for consistency. These cultures were thrown in as a bit of background flavor. I list this last, because in the theater, there was no way to know this at the time.
That answer's still not great. Still leaves us in the same position, where Europeans are pretty much given their own agency, while other cultures need to be led.
Oh, and to anyone else whoâs made it this far and knows the production history of Prometheus: donât worry! I know what Ridley Scott told that one interviewer, about a contact between a less-ancient European power and the Engineers. Iâm saving that one. I like to save that one, because strategic deployment of that quote made some of my IRL friends scream.
Next time: the Prometheus descends to an alien world, and I descend further into madness. I am going to drag you all down with me.
(Pictured: Yuri Knorozov, and my present mood.)

What do you think about the Leicester Alliance? Despite the instability regarding the Riegan house and their heir it seems to me like it's the least fucked up of the three countries
Oh!
I wanted to make a more detailed reply but I don't think I'll have the time before forgetting it lol
But in general, the Alliance suffers from the FE franchise's lack of interest in what I previously called "merchant republics". Let it be Jugdral's Miletos or Magvel's Carcino, they just exist to be rolled over, sometimes they have "corrupt Nobles (tm)" and that's it.
Leicester seems to be in a similar position, even if, by virtue of being Claude's homeland it would be more developed, right?
Well, no, Claude talks more about Almyra and has stronger ties to that country, so whatever Leicester development or lore we could have is just, three supports here and there about "Corrupt Nobles (tm)", a land where wealth gains more and more importance (Marianne's dad became a member of the council bcs of this iirc?) and where old Houses keep on having an ancestral feud even if it dooms the Republic/Alliance (Gloucester wants to get rid of Riegan, and sacrifices Raph's parents in the process?).
So with the minimum world building we have about the Alliance, I wouldn't say it's the least fucked up, rather it's the less developed, so by extension they feel like they're in a better state than the Kingdom - heavily developed - and Adrestia - which is kind of in a similar boat as the Alliance, but since the content focuses on Enbarr and the War afterwards, it's swept up.
But for what we know,
The Roundtable, before Nopes, was made up of 5 great families and minor nobles, while not sitting, could have their voices heard or at least taken into consideration (as opposed to Clout's Federation).
The Alliance apparently heavily dislike having a central authority or a powerful person ruling over them all... But only 3 minor lords riot when "we bow to no Emperor and to no King" is farted upon by King Clout of the Federation...
Lorenz tells us faith is performative in the Alliance, but some people are devout believers, which leads to no one giving a fuck, in Nopes, about their country going for the kill against the Archbishop.
And more importantly...
In the Alliance, through Raphael and Ignatz, we learn there is a "bourgeoisie" class, people who aren't born nobles or anobled and yet who manage to thrive and, if not for Gloucester Sr's gambit, live quite well, despite the "Crust system!!!!" the scripts hammer.
Leonie is a commoner and is in debt (tfw rl catches up to you in a vg!). Her village pays taxes to their Lord (Gloucester) and in exchange this Lord offers them protection (by hiring Jerry) against poachers - which is both textbook Noblesse Oblige hardbaked in Lorenz's character, but also, some kind of weird example of a system based on feodality - vassal offers an "hommage" to his Lord (here taxes) and in return the Lord protects his vassal - with the twist that Leonie's dad isn't a knight or a feudal vassal (afaik?).
Also, from the unused trading post data, Riegan should have been famous for its factories?
In a way, it feels like Leicester's organisation could have been something very interesting to explore - it's completely at odds with the Empire and the Kingdom and much more fragmented - but as usual, the FE series don't really develop those "kingless" factions...
And of course, they couldn't develop the "merchant nation" more else the "Church BaD bcs IsOlAtIoNiSm" falls apart or the "Crust SyStEm" argument as to why Supreme Leader has to change the world falls too, Edmund sr is at the roundtable despite having no crest, the Ordelias never were at this roundtable despite having a crest (iirc?), Judith is a Hero of Leicester and has no Crust, Holst is beloved by the world and has no Crust, despite having no Crust Ignatz's parents are implied to be rich as fuck and living the best life, crustless!Leonie and her entire village are helped by the "nobility system" Supreme Leader vowed to erase, etc etc.
Acknowledging Leicester's existence as something more than "that place Clout and some people hail from" blows so many holes in the leitmotiv of the war - thus the twist "you should feel bad for fighting your former student" - that the writers, imo, prefered not to shed any light no it (+ the context with merchant republics!) that it's no surprising the few crumbs we have aren't developped.
And before Nopes, the Alliance was the only slither free place, so all the "bad stuff" that happened, like Raph's parents, can be blamed on regular people and not "they were brainwashed!!". Ordelia's a different situation, I know a lot of people support the "Lys got her present because crust system", but I always have doubts - Lys got her "present" because Adrestia (Ionius) believed they could infringe on Leicester's territory, and the Agarthans needed to test their "present making" before gifting one to the Hresvelgs.
With Nopes, the Alliance disappears under a King with no fanfare, some people follow Clout, they dgaf about the Church, and that's it. It's just a blank cardbox, removed of the few crumbs that made it different from the other cardboxes.
#zevfern#replies#the fact no Leicester character especially Lysithea has any salt about Adrestia waltzing in Ordelia is astonishing#apparently in Nopes the Kingdom and the Church welcoming deserters is very sus and infriges on the Federation's sovereignty or something?#But when Ionius did so no one gave a fuck??#Leicester made me think of the opposition between bourgeoisie and aristocracy that used to exist#and the ânouveau richesâ concept#of course the game doesn't do anything about it because it wouldn't benefit the story of Supreme Leader's war#Edmund earns his seat at the roundtable because of his clout as a merchant?#despite not being from a famous family descended from the Dudes#where's your crust system?#and Nopes massacred Leicester#everyone loves king Clout who pisses on everything the Alliance has been since inception#too bad#Imagine if the Fodlan games were interesting and Ingrid's dad accepted a match from Ignatz's dad to Ignatz bcs they're rich#despite having no crust#it'd make a fun AU

Hello all you happy union supporters and welcome to a very special event for this labor day weekend in honor of those brave souls in the WGA and SAG who are striking right now to create a better future for media: The SEPTEMBER STRIKETACULAR!
For those of you somehow out of the loop, Back in May the WGA went on strike for the understandable asks of better wages, better residuals for their work in the streaming era, and limits on AI to prevent Studios from using them as half assed replacements. Naturally this being Hollywood, the CEOS all bellowed no from their stygian towers and it was strike o clock.
Things esclated in July when SAG-AFTRA, already fully supporting the strike since it started and having similar needs, went on strike. Since then it's been mostly a stalemate. AMPTP has gone to the bargining tables a few times, but mostly with offers that don't even attempt compromise and attempted to shame them into accepting said offers. They've also flat out said they want to drag it out till "People start loosing their apartments and houses"
Thankfully unlike the previous writers strike, this one.. is working. While AMPTP is digging their heels in like the spoiled chlidren they are, support seems to be pretty much unanimously in favor of the striking workers. Not only that SAG has gone out of it's way to encourage it's wealthier members to donate to the strike fund to allow the members living on a more paycheck to paycheck basis to not "loose their houses and apartments" with The Rock giving a 7 figure statment. The AMPTP tried a counter narrative of it being wealthy elites.. and it seems to have utterly failed. All the blame on any delays in production and any possible content droughts.. is on the AMPTP.
So with AMPTP not seeming to give up the ghost any time soon, Kev had the brillliant idea to look at a bunch of episodes centering around strikes, letting me do most of the choosing while he made with the money. So I choose ones that fit the themes of this strike. So join me as I go thorugh some classic episodes of Simpsons, Ducktales, and Daria and a classic-ish episode of South Park to disect this strike, why i'ts important while also spotlighting some good episodes. And honestly while october is mostly full and november is getting that way, if this goes on i'll defintley be doing this again. Probably not as well made but frankly if AMPTP drags this shit out past halloween as they plan, they deserve the mockery. Four fresh and full reviews under the cut!
Last Exit to Springfield (The Simpsons) Last Exit To Springfield is an episode that for the longest time.. I never wanted to rewatch. See as a kid my little brain focused mostly on the braces part of it, and thus Lisa being forced into clunky awful braces, tormented by her doctor and told by a camera man "there is no god" and was likely a depressing slog. I foollishly assumed for YEARS chlid me was right and avoided it when possible.
So what changed? Simple, another critic. A few months ago I got introduced to simpsons youtuber TheRealJims via one of fellow youtuber ToonrificTariqs videos. Once I checked him out I was hooked on the guys positve nature, great takes and deep dives into simpsons, from showing the history of characters, to digging into weird questions like "who REALLY shot mr burns" and "what's up with Kearny's age?", to just reviewing episodes.
I mostly either agreed with his takes or could at least respect them... until we got to season 4 with one that puzzled me due to my childhood biases: he ranked Last Exit #1, citing it's rapid fire humor..a nd also revealing da lot of simpsons bits I truly loved, including one of my all time faviorites:
youtube
Just this two minute scene alone from HOmer's confused tone, to him repeating it despite it being pretty clear from context what a hired goon is, the guy straightining his tie and of course burn's justification of "I prefer the hands on touch you only get with hired goons". So with this new info I decided to at least give it one more try. And as you can probably guess by the fact it's in this collection, I did a full 180, crazy, thinkin bout the way I was.. and more importantly the years I wasted not watching this episode multiple times a year. Last Exit went from one of my most hated episodes to one of my personal faviorites.
Does this mean the dentist stuff played better to a 30 year old me versus baby boy me?
I got a few laughs this time: I love how all the dentists tools are horribly named and how casual he was about it, the laughting gas thing is fun and the book of british smiles is stupid enough to wrap around to being funny. I also absolutely loved the refrence to the burton batman film. So great.
But the stuff with LIsa herself.. still didn't work for the most part. Or marge, as the guy shouting LIAR to the nicest character in the show because she.. lied about her baby using a pacifier, isn't QUITE funny enough to make the bit work. Likewise his projection of lisa's teeth if she dosen't wear braces is needlessly mean. One of the co writers REALLY hated his orthdontist and it finally made all of this make sense. It's just not very good.
I will share some fun trivia I got from this episodes oral history though: they approached two diffrent guest stars for it: the first was Clint eastwood whose exact response was "Hell No". I half assume they brought up Paint Your Wagon years later out of spite. Or because they love gay polyamorus cowboy icons, Whose to say?
The other is more intresting and was more game, Psycho's Anthony Perkins. He was totally on board, but his failing health sadly meant he died before they could get it all worked out.
The thing is though while Lisa needing braces sets off the plot and gives homer a reason to get involved at all, it's not a huge part of the episode. We get a photographer responding to her smile with "There is no god" later, which I gotta admit has grown on me for the deliver and lisa joining in the protest sans braces, but it's mostly there for setup and to give the episode some emotoinal weight: We care about the strike because we care about lisa. It's why the episode needs it's weakest part: because nothing else would work as well without geninely weight behind homer's fight.
The real meat is the core conflict: the head of the union has mysteriously been buried in a football field somewhere, so Burns, being what your standard greedy ceo acts like when no one's looking, wants to gut their benifits starting with the dental plan.... just as homer needs it. So Homer, after taking a bit to put "Dental plan!" "Lisa needs braces' "dental plan" "Lisa needs braces' "Dental Plan" "Lisan needs braces" together into the right conclusion, ends up becoming head of the union despite it paying nothing.. unless your crooked (Woo-hoo!)
Really from the moment Burns enters musing on a childhood where his grandfather could have a boy taken away for stealing "atoms", and with said boy having warned him about uninons ("If only we'd listend to that boy instead of walling him up in the abandoned coke oven") , this episode pivots from depressing story of lisa getting braces, to one of the series finest farces. It's really a looney tune if bugs bunny was too stupid to notice anything happening to him.
As a result the episode is DENSELY packed with jokes. We have classics such as "Now do classical gas!" , "first thing tomorrow I'm gonna punch lenny in the back of the head!", "The blurst of times?!", "Where's my Burrito?!" (A personal faviorite), "it was the style at the time", along with less noted gems like Homer's weird Godfather fantasy sequence ("Mmmm organized crime"), Marge's hair getting chopped off by burns hellicotper, burns really needing to stop ending with the basement, homer being so clueless he assumes Burns trying to butter him up is Burns hitting on him, and what' sbecome my faviorite joke of the episode...
youtube
Every second of this is gold and it's hard to decide if homer screaming and then cheering or burns getting an "opneing tirade" nad his casual response of "yes thank you kent.
And this bit also underlines how well the episode gets labor disputes. It has some rough edges, the frequent mob allusions, the idea that most uninons are crooked, a lot of that is horribly out dated. But the core of it works: Burns isn't cutting benefits for any practical reason, he's cutting them to save them an extra penny; this whole strike, the money lost, burns various backfiring attempts to stop it, is simply because, like the current strike, someone wants to greedily horde money and the workers simply want want's fair. Burns tries most common strike tactics: breaking it up, sending goons to break it up, trying to make threats to the public at large. And while this being the social media age the former two aren't really in the AMPTP's book , Paramount at least trimmed a tree to take away shade from the strikers, while the "starve them out" tactic is just as petty. It also gives us even MORE great gags from Burns hose mishap, to him and smithers having a dandy time togehter as they run the plant, to the afformentiond abe simpson rant of legend. Burns is potrayed as cartoonishly evil.. but it speaks to the episodes strength that none of it is out of the bounds of reality for a change. Even trying to replace them with "loyal robot workers" is exactly the kind of threat the AMPTP is striking against. So yeah Last Exit is both a fantastic episode in it's own right.. and a great episode on unions that's held up well. Now for one that hasn't exactly held up so good.
Canada on Strike (South Park)
Canada On Strike is an intresting one as it's the only one of today's episodes directly about a previous strike.. and said strike is one that's vitally important to the ongoing one. COS was Matt and Trey's commentary the 07-08 writer's guild strike, the predecessor to the current one. And while South Park has had episodes that's incise takes were AHEAD of their time (the brittnay spears episode), or who despite the direct subject still have plenty of relevance (The bar), Canada on Strike falls into the category of "Has aged aabout as well as hot cheese on a glacier being set adrift because it's not your friend guy". It's not "Reinforcing harmful myths about trans women using a randy savage parody" bad mind but it's a reminder that while Matt and Trey sometimes hit an issue right on the head and do it perfectly like any person they can really, really fuck up. Also not remotely fun fact: i wasn't kidding that really is the episode.
In this case Matt and Trey , while sympathetic to the writers involved.. were not at all on board with the 07-08 writers strike, and outright said their concerns were overblown, particularly wanting residuals for internet content... after having just made a large deal for future streaming residuals for THEMSELVES long before streaming was viable, which still pays off to this day.
Creators were aware the internet wasn't FULLY monitizeable yet, but with itunes and amazon starting the digtial episode market, they could see it was the future. And given we now live in a world with about 80 streaming platforms and where family collectively subscribes to NINE as of this article, not to mention countless free ones and on demand services like Vudu, they were right on the target. As said in a speech by writer Harold Gould.
Soon, when computers and your TV are connected, that's how we're all going to watch. Okay? Those residuals are going to go from what they are towards zero if we don't make a stand now. ...
And you know what THEY DID. I know part of this is hindsight, but the fact remains they knew exactly what they were fighting for... and had to fight for it again. And even then they were also fighting for DVD residuals which were a bigger industry then and still exist enough to have been worth fighting for now. Matt and Trey were talking.. straight out of their ass thinking this was a fight over nothing.
Instead they portray the rest of the strikers (here as candains) as people caught along on the tides who just want to get back to work instead of people fighting so they can get paid fairly for work, and the leadership as a cluless asshat , steve abootman who has no idea who he's fighting for. The ONLY thing they get right is that the amptp, as one scene has the World's Natoins wondering if they can make otowa into an amusement park once everyone's dead from exaustion and hunger. Matt and Trey aren't REMOTELY sympathetic to them.. but their not to the strike itself either, just the people involved.
The other part of the plot.. is just horribly dated. The boys do a viral video based on a real viral video, aforementioned what what in my asshole, to get money only to get nothing. A bunch of dated at the time and even more dated now memes figh tto the death, our heroes get nothing, and matt and trey don't understand that montization from films and shows that were being SOLD online is diffrent from monetization of free content, which didn't exist yet and weirdly lump them together. The more I think about this episode the worse it gets and that's NEVER a good sign. I can only hope that like they've done in the past with Manbearpig, they make an episode that's an apology for this one.. and that transphobia shit. Seriously
This episode is an important cautionary tale though: because I watched it as a teen and didn't know that creators could be *gasp* wrong about things, I assumed they were right and the wga strike failed on it's own merits. It's a dangerous thing to put an idea out there when you know young people are watching and might belivie it. Just saying. IT's worth it if you can do it right.. but you have to or you'll just end up hurting people in the future.
Lucky Strike (Daria) And now we've gone from an episode I used to hate and absolutely love, to an episode I used to like but now hate.. to an episode I loved before and was reminded why I loved it so much.
Fun Fact: This was one of the first episodes of daria I ever saw See I got into the show via finding the first movie and the thing I keep missing the chance ot cover most, Daria: Is it Fall Yet?, which had two bonus episodes that helpfully set up the film and it's sequel Daria: Is it College Yet? that one ALSO had two bonuses, if a bit looser linked. Lucky Strike was one of them.
Why is this important? WHy didn't I just watch the seris in full? Well ti's simple: I couldn't. I didn't know you could find stuff like this online, and the dvds hadn't come out yet. I know because I got the complete series with some of my high school graduation money. I still own it. SO all I had were recaps online and these 4 episodes and 2 films.
And honestly while Lucky Strikes work even better with 4 seasons wroth of build up to it's conclusion.. it was a great early episode to watch on it's own and is one of Daria's best. Hands down. Rewatching it reminded me of so many great jokes.
Loudspeaker: Attention Lawndale Students! Jane: Is that the voice that tells me to kill and kill again? Daria: No. Satan's voice is lower and has a british accent.
The episode itself follows a teachers strike and shows it off really well. IT's probably the best teacher's strike i've seen in a cartoon and most strike episodes are teacher's strikes. It's a high bar. It points out how those in charge can deny a fair proposal.. simply because they don't want to. Ms. Li, the school's principal and money hungry tyrant, tries to bribe the teachers with a new coffee machine instead of a fair 5% raise. What helps the episode is like Mr Burns.. Mrs. Li is portrayred realistically for a company head despite being over the top petty for comedy purposes. If you haven't seen Daria, Mrs. Li is a horribly greedy person whose worried more about avoiding a lawsuit or getting the school, and herself, money than actually FUNDING said school or helping the students. Highlights of her dickery include: Punishing Daria for NOT selling Choclate to a woman who had severe health issues, forcing Mr. DiMartino, lawndales super stressed teacher and as we learn here union rep, to go on a casnio night the school was having despite having a gambling problem and him TELLING her this, selling the school out to a soft drink company, and finally at the top of season 2 censoring Daria and Jane's piece on anorexia then trying to punish them both for breaking in and vandalizing it. I saved that one for last as while ti's one of the earliest.. it also has one of Ms. Li's bigger compuances and one of the series finest moments.
youtube
So the episode both does a good job from context (the coffee machine dosen't even seem that fancY), and from history telling us "yeah she has the money she just won't pay it" just like the AMPTP, and just like them tries to villanize the striking teachers for darring to.. want actual money for having to deal with the kind of students who go to lawndale. It's a fair request. Ms. Li just won't pony up. It also heavily focuses on something the other episodes don't: scabs. South Park has a one off gag about scandivanivans I honestly forgot and simpsons just has smithers and burns do it in an entirely wholesome and hilarous montage. Here we see the scabs effect on the school.. and it isn't really good for the most part. Daria's class gets an elderly woman who calls her Darlene instead because Daria "Sounds like a hippie name" and seems to think she's teaching kindergarten, and is so out of it she FORGETS Darlene isn't daria's actual name when Daria leaves when called on the loud speaker ("I'm going to get daria"). I do love how she calls kevin QB thanks to his catchphrase though. Admitely I was worried this character would grate.. but forgot she's really only in about 2-3 minutes of episode total so she's there JUST long enough to work.
The other teacher... is just plain creepy and pathetic. We have Ken for Quinn's class. Ken is a pedophile. Him trying to groom tiffany is played as a joke. That said.. I do like that it , intetnionally or not, serves as a deconstruction for this kind of character in teen shows like this: in many , as iv'e found out via various retrospectives and watching them with my own eyes in some cases, have the pedophile teacher as a cool guy talking about game stop who woos one of the characters and is treated sympathetically.
Here Ken TRIES to be that.. but the fashion club don't take to it: Sandy is annoyed, Quinn dosen't get what's happening and Tiffany, who he's directly trying to groom.. is Tiffany, so dense no light can get through to her and thankfully no pedophiles. The scene itself is INTENDED to be funny but is just uncomfortable. While ti's mildly played for laughs that just don't work anymore, I can still respect that they throughly treat ken as a creep, treating his pedophila as
The next scene however is comedy gold. The Morgendorfers have dinner and Daria's Mom helen is doing what she tends to do when Quinn talks about her day unless i'ts plot relevant: Just kinda goes mhmmm. What makes the scene work though is as Daria hears the story she gets up... so that by the time we get to "Ken" stroking Tiffany's hair and Helen FINALLY getting the memo that "OH SHIT MY DAUGHTER'S BEING TAUGHT BY A PEDOPHILE AND HER FRIEND COULD BE GROOMED AND ASSAULTED" she ask sfor the phone.. and daria has it at the ready. It's just such a nice visual gag I tried to do it justice but can't. It also just works because Helen.. takes it super seriously and it shows how all too easily a parent can miss the signs of grooming. It also shows how this shit should be handled: the fucker needs to be sacked and Ms. Li does.. then goes further down the moral sewer as she not only clearly only did it for a lawsuit.. but tries to BLAME helen for doing it. "We wouldn't be in this fix if it wern't for your mother" "Yeah. Hire one pedophile and she gets all bent out of shape"
This leads to what the episodes REALLY about and what the strike was really for: Ms. Li asks daria to be a scab teacher for Quinn's class. She refuses at first, as anyone should.. but eventually buckles because it'd make Quinn miserable. She's still sympathetic though: she gives the class her best despite having every reason not to and she's 17 at this point. OF course she'd priortize bugging her sister over striking and it's nice that none of her teachers really seem to hold it against daria. Plus frankly if Daria refused Mrs. Li woul dlikely of found some way to try and railroad her into it anyway. As you heard when Helen evicerated her Daria undeerstandably wanting to withdraw her work was met with a hell no.
The result is pure comedy gold. Helen and Jake don't really object: Helen is happy Quinn now has access to her teacher 24/7 and Jake, my boy and sharer of the name and the stress and anger issues, is happy to have model train time. God bless this trainwreck of a human being. We also get Daria adressing her as "Class" at breakfast just to piss quinn off and threanting to fail her for funsies.
That said Daria DOES take the job seriously.. or as seriously as Daria can at this point in her life. THat is to say we still get even more comic gold with my faviorite being who she refers to Jamie, Joey and Jeffy, three meatheaded jocks who take turns dating quinn and fighting over quinn, as "Jamie, Joey or Jeffy" no matter which one she speaks to. Which
I can't either. I could look it up but they only LOOK diffrent. They don't act diffrent. We also get some nice bits here and there like one of the j's actually impressing her with his interpretation mercutio was into romeo ("Even if your thoguhts on keeping him out of the shower were a little close minded) and figuring out their talking romeo and juliet in the first place because he describes Romeo as a stalker. The real meat character wise though is with Quinn, daria's sister. For those less familiar with the show, from the first episdoe to this point, Quinn has always come up with some excuse for who daria is: her cousin, foreign exchange student, etc. Sandy, her main rival and head of the fashion club, thehir shared clique, saw through it pretty quickly, and tends to hold it over her head when possible without spilling the tea.
Here's where that reaches a breaking point: Sandy wants Quinn to tell Daria to give them all good grades, and as usual implies she'll drop the hammer if she dosen't. Daria naturally. has no intention of doing this when Quinn asks that night. Also Tom her boyfriend is here for a scene. Hi tom. I'll get to you again someday. What's telling though in how far both characters have come.. is how Daria responds "Why are you defendign the stupid quinn, your not one of them?" Quinn assumes she's going to do bad too.. but when talking to Jake, finds she actually knows this stuff.. and the confidence to just try her hardest herself , come what may. While she didn't get the message at first... she realizes Daria ACTAULLY belivies in her. She wouldn't say it directly.. but the setiment is there and it shows how far both have come: Daria can actually compliment her sister easily, if roundaboutly and Quinn has the confidence to try being smart without doing so just for attention.
So naturally Sandy fails, and Quinn finally admits Daria is her sister. And what happens with her other friends, the aformentioned Tiffany and Stacey, who gets a LOT of development this season but is weridly out of focus this episode and I should probably do a special on at some point in herself.. take it fine. They also saw though it and were just being polite to Quinn, who clearly didn't WANT to admit Daria was her sister and Sandy, who they assumed didn't know. It's a perfect payoff to the series biggest running gag and a nice moment of character growth.
As for the actual strike stuff we're here for what's neat is that it isn't just.. thrown away. It becomes the b-plot once Daria becomes a teacher, halfway in no less... but it's not forgotten: We get some fun bits with Jane and Trent, jane's slacker brother as Trent gets asked by cheery sunshiny mr. o'neil to help make a protest song, while Jane gets roped by the art teacher (and the only teacher she reallly likes and who supports her) int ohelping with signs (And has "the scab) sign her a note to get out of class. ).
The main attraction here though is Mr. Demartino. I mean it usually is, he's the best, but after apparently botching the last time they struck, he refuses to give up when the teachers get worn down a bit and spends an ENTIRE NIGHT negotating and not backing down. The best bit is easily:
Ms. Li: Don't think you can intimiateâintermolateâdon't think you can scare me with your threat to picket naked!
Mr. DeMartino: You think I'm bluffing?! This is Goodwill polyester I've been sweating in all night. I want to picket naked!
Ms. Li:Â All right! A two percent raise and a space heater for the teacher's lounge.
Mr. DeMartino: (tugs on collar) Boy! It's getting hot in here!
That last line lives rent free in my head. The delivery is so good. And... Mr. D gets a RARE victory. I mean he still has his shitty job but he actually WINS the strike and gets ms li to sign in her delrium. Granted his confidence boost dies the moment he has to teach kevin again but still it's a nice little victory for a guy who life is determined to kick in the crotch till he has an ulcer and dies.
Lucky Strike is excellent: if you haven't watched daria it's a good episode to try it out and if you have it' sworth a rewatch. It's hilarious, gets striking down well, and has a lot of great character stuff. As I said one of the series best.
Blue Collar Scrooge (Ducktales0 This one came late in the process as we WERE going to do Squid on Strike.. but remembering this existed, it fit the themes of this strike better and was another half hour show so we went with it. It's also the only episode in this special I hadn't seen before.. and while I'm the one who brought it up.. I was also dreading it
See this episode centers around amnesia and i'm not a fan of amnesia episodes most of the time: they usually go thorugh the same beats of the person acting diffrent, being diffrent and ocsasionaly being tricked into thinknig their completely diffrent. It just gets old after a while. There are exceptions, such as bloom county's take on it
Usually though I hate these kinds of episodes.. so it was an utterly plesant suprise to see Ducktales 87, a show I've mostly thoguht of as "okay"... do a REALLY intresting take on it that also handles the plight of the working person with tact for the most part.
What makes it truly work.. is rooting it in character: Scrooge is doing his usual thing making a suprise interaction on his skateboard factory
And I love the joke of his employees just.. humoring him as they alwasy know when it's happening. This episode is REALLY funny and it's something that suprised me as outside of .. a certain moment
youtube
I never think of DuckTales 87 of being a paticuarlly funny show but this episode man. Lots of nice gags. The owner gives the boys one on the house which they sneak back after Scrooge says "they have enough toys". And somehow he's STILL the better guardian than donald
God I missed these ducks. Anyways Scrooge gets conked on the head with it a ways from home and ends up with Amensia. And weirdly.. it's not even as much of a stretch as it should be that no one finds him and he goes unoticed. Scrooge dosen't have his top hat, cane, pocket full of miracles or nifty specs. He just has his coat, and thus looks like any other old man and thanks to his amensia defaults to alan young's regular voice. Also alan young is southeren apparently
Yup. And we get some actually good amnesia gags: Scrooge calling his usual accent silly, having no luck with money and in a bit that's both kind of funny but also sad looking for himeslf on milk cartons.. and getting thrown out because the guy thinks he's teling a joke despite having been dead serious.
Anyways he finds his way to fenton's mom's garbage. Fenton.. dosen't go home because he's looking for scrooge. Okay that one's a bit more of a leap in logic as you think he'd at least go home to tell his mom he wont' be or call, but hey everything else checks out: scrooge is lost in a big city without anything ot idefnity him other than his neat sideburns. It stands to reason that unless the nephews, mrs. b, Fenton or Webby if she was in this episode saw him face to face, it woudln't be that easy for someone else to and as Fenton later poitns out they can't exactly tell the police or anyone who'd wrap this up as it could sink his buisnesses till he's found. And given how this episode ephasies he owns most of Duckburg that's a LOT of people who end up out of a job.
Anyways she's worried at first because EWWWW HOMELESS.. god the 90's were shitty to homeless people. and the 2000's. and the 2010's and present day. At least media is nicer? A little? Anyways, he compliments her dinner and we get another great bit as she makes sure he's single and asks if he has a pulse.. and him checking it is just great. It'd be the best pulse checking joke of all time if this didn't exist
And is it mildly creepy Fenton's mom is hitting on any avaliable man? Yes. Is Fenton's mom the best character here? No. Is it mildly classit to use tv dinners as a symbol of the working class. A little.
But weirdly.. their romance works fo rme. Scrooge with his amnesia is sweet to her and Mrs. C , while clearly into him because again he has a pulse, geninley tries to help, is touched when he later uses his days wages to take her out for dinner as thanks, and helps him when he has a hard day working at the skate board factory as he can only remember skateboards and his boss just.. takes the guy in because why not. It shows how some workplaces will just take every body they can get..a nd then abuse them as lunch break is literally just a minute. Which if employers coudl do that they would. It's why we need strikes and unions.. as this special has shown if an employer CAN get away with something they will. Scrooge plans to sell his factory, putting everyone in it out of work for a profit before his skateboard to the head. and to Mr. Trumpcard. I mean if you can sell your workplace to trump you truly are without a soul.
Scrooge's does show as this scrooge. .is an intresting what if: He's Scrooge if he never got his big break with the goose egg nugget. He has all the work ethic, gumption and desire for money as the regular scrooge but without the greed, cynisim and selfishness he picked up along the way. He's a kinder gentler scrooge whose happy to splurge on a pizza to make someone who was nice to him happy and who ends up leading a strike at work after Scrooge's own secretary leaks the sale to the one at the skateboard plant. He's got the fire, as he ironically grows to hate himself even before the strike, it's just better directed without any prodding or a loved one in danger.
This gets the attention of ... Fenton who dresses up as scrooge to keep the deal going and then has to go attend to the factory and get sso lost in the role he thinks he IS scrooge leading to a hilarious and engaging showdown.. and Scrooge getting his momeroy back and stealing his clothes off fenton
What I like though is the symbolism here> It's about as subtle as a brick, but it works: Scrooge literallys ees himself an dhow he was acting... and through his amensia learned what it was like. They never overly focus on that last part and that's why it works: thorugh his time not knowing who he was, Scrooge got in touch with his routes and stopped being AS corrupt an asshole. It's a true problem in labor disputes: the people at the top lack emptathy and just want money, and it was easy to put scrooge and someone who thought he was scrooge breifly in the villian roll as those are two of his biggest flaws. Even once he snaps out of it he has to be glarred into giving them a dollar an hour raise.
He dosen't even abandon Mrs. Crackshell which is nice. She assumes he will.. but he still has his soaps and the two walk off together. Does this go anywhere? No. But should it if the show comes back. And do I want to think about this relationship beyond how cute it is because it'll lead me to some very dark and horrifying places? NOPE.
Bluecollar Scrooge restored my faith in 87 ducktales after the mini series burned me out on it. It's funny, has a good message, is well animated and while a bit of a stretch, it's just far enough to work without being frustrating. So all in all a good crop of episodes and one dud. Not bad at all. Support the strikers, fuck the AMPTP and thanks for reading.
PS: I almost didn't metnion the greatest scene in comedy history. Behold.

(From the ask game I reblogged in lieu of an actual TMI Tuesday post)
đ Is there anything you straight-up wonât write?
Anything that bores me, basically. I think of fanfiction as me asking a question and writing the fic to find the answer. If I'm pretty sure I already know the answer, I probably won't write the thing. Also any kind of relationship drama with American high school students. (Of course, I've dismissed that prospect so much in my head that now I'm trying to think about that setting could be made interesting--that's how the ideas get you.)
And it's probably better for my mental health to avoid any angst with no happy ending.
đ In your opinion, whatâs the funniest joke/reference/pun youâve made in a fic?
Oooooh, this is tough, because I loooove writing jokes in my fics. I'm gonna go with an underappreciated one from Begging On His Bended Knees. At one point I have Belle loudly blurt out that she and Gold absolutely cannot have sex as a part of him hiring her as a dominatrix. And Gold is just like, "Yeah? I thought that was obvious?" because he has no idea just how much Belle wants to jump his bones. I imagine this moment is funnier in my head than it is on page. I can hear the noise I want Belle to make--something like Amy Adams doing a Cher impression--and it is very, very funny to me.
đŤ Whatâs your favorite underrated thing in your fandom? (A ship that only you seem to write for, a character thereâs almost no fics about, a trope that criminally hasnât been written yet, etc.)
Man, there is so much Rumbelle content, I struggle to think of anything that's under-done.
I suppose I'm a little disappointed that they're aren't more people making up family members for Belle. It's something that bugs me in canon too. Part of her deal with Rumple is "My friends? My family? They will all live?" and we never see her with ANYONE besides Maurice. It creates this weird disconnect where a character who is friendly and full of love and willing to do anything for her loved ones... is only ever seen with her husband.
I get that the show just doesn't care about Belle. Fic writers usually pair her up with Ruby or Ariel or Mulan, which is all great. I'm just surprised that (as far as I know) I'm the only writer who gives her OC friends and family in the Enchanted Forest or Storybrooke. It would have been great for canon too! Belle doesn't hang out with the Charming-Mills family because she has her own loving support structure just over there, off screen. She's with them a lot of the time, and not just in a perpetual sex coma, we promise.

Doc Watch: Call Me Miss Cleo (2022)
except, literally everyone knew she was a fraud and the network a scam?
Watched:Â 12/28/2022
Format:Â HBOmax
Viewing:Â First
Director:  Celia Aniskovich, Jennifer Brea
I dunno. Â
This doc is weirdly under-developed and under-researched for something that's getting a fairly well-promoted release on HBOmax. If I was Perry White to this team's Lois Lane, I'd say "you have a lot of facts. You haven't proven anything and there's no story. Get back out there." The doc feels like it's something handed in at a deadline, not something actually something complete, and the final bit that tries to give Miss Cleo absolution feels like the last great con a successful con-artist pulled from beyond the grave.
Maybe the spirits DO talk to us!
But you'll get more facts without any of the tediously dramatic build up out of the anemic Miss Cleo Wikipedia article. Somehow the doc misses that she had a child? Â
Look, I was not a youth when Miss Cleo first appeared - I was a 20-something guy winding up college. She was part of the weirdness that was 1990's television, right there alongside all the other charlatans and hucksters from Jerry Springer to those twin little people guys who made you watch a 45 minute informercial. It was a wild, trashy time of insta-celebs like Susan Powter and the Government Money Riddler-guy. And you had to be a certain age or a certain kind of poor or a certain kind of insomniac (or, in my case, all three) to know the full cast of TV's Legion of Doom.
Miss Cleo was an obvious fraud and crank who was also the face of one of many psychic networks. It would be post-9/11 that I would figure out how many people totally and completely believe in any fraud or crank who speaks with conviction thanks to the weirdly lucrative 9/11 Conspiracy movement. But I did figure *someone* was calling Miss Cleo, and those people were kidding or hopelessly guileless.
What's weird about this doc is that it's about Miss Cleo but somehow the filmmakers can't seem to do more than Google some facts but don't include even the basics of Wikipedia. There's nothing particularly revelatory about the contents, and it leaves all but a narrow window of Miss Cleo's life a Miss Cleo shaped blank spot. Â
Do they uncover who she really was and how she spent her life aside from a stint in Seattle? Nope! There's some speculation, but they don't bother to find out where she was born, where she lived, who knew her, etc... She appears in Seattle as a grown adult pre-Cleo using a different name, does some theater, maybe steals some money? And then vanishes again until those people spot her a while later using one of her characters developed in Seattle as Miss Cleo.
The doc is... bad? Lazy? I don't even know. For chrissake, if you can't find the info yourself, hire a private investigator. Someone has her SSN and can trace it back. But they literally choose not to do the basics - instead speculating and cobbling together a few scant details, saying "she probably had trauma that was never healed" and then use that as the supporting argument for why Miss Cleo was an a-ok person. But there's no evidence of trauma - no smoking gun. Not even any anecdotal evidence presented. Just the filmmakers cutting in pieces of people speculating.
The very weird collection of interviews includes the ragtag collection of folks Cleo hung out with after the collapse of the Psychic Network (a patchwork of Floridians who have varying degrees of skepticism about her still assumed psychic abilities), theater colleagues from Seattle who cannot believe this shit 25 years later, Raven Symone for some reason?, and Debra Wilson for other reasons. Folks who worked as psychics are also interviewed.
If you also thought psychic hotlines existed to separate fools from their money, you weren't alone. If you want to feel better, one of those fools may be Miss Cleo as it's not clear she actually profited very well from the scam she was the face-man for for years. Â
You do get a picture of how she went from paying the bills as a psychic for the network to becoming the face of the network, and there's plenty there about how the scam worked, and a reminder that we're all secretly very alone in this cold and unforgiving universe and sometimes it's so bad, we call obviously fake magic-wielders so someone will tell us it'll be okay (spoiler: it won't! But you'll get used to it or get on twitter.).Â
Maybe the most interesting part isn't Miss Cleo herself, but the mechanics of a call-in Psychic Network, that works not at all unlike a phone-sex-line (we were all about landline-based stuff in the 1990's), who worked there, what the job was, etc... Â
Ideas are thrown at us with minimal follow up. Miss Cleo was Jamaican and handed off to not-her-parents as an infant. Only - no. Never happened. She was a student at USC. No, she was not. She had multiple personalities (only mentioned by one person). She was maybe actually psychic and believed it. Or not. Â
This person did not live 100 or even 50 years ago. She just died like 6 years ago. She has a footprint. Someone knew her as a kid - but good luck seeing that here.
Once the network collapsed due to basically being a gigantic scam that was easily sue-able, Miss Cleo retreats. And where this could be interesting, and kind of is - the doc really leans into the "maybe she was really Miss Cleo all along, inside, and not someone with a completely different name using a fake accent every day of her life for years". One of her Seattle theatre-company colleagues basically says it outright "you White people buy any old bullshit", and it sure seems to be true. And yet, the filmmakers go right along with it and work to torture reality into shape so they can have an uplifting ending about "yeah, she helped to scam people out of a billion dollars, but she was nice to people after that collapsed so... Everyone remember her fondly." Wait. What? Why?
I'm not saying you can't make that movie or it's not a story that could be told. What I am saying is that this doc doesn't seem to be able to grasp what it has in its hands and do anything with it. It can't seem to grapple with the idea that possibly Cleo or whatever her name was was the same kind of toxic narcissist we see in politicians and CEO's everyday and you can't find her footprint because she wasn't good enough at what she was doing or rich enough to stay in one place for very long. It feels like they wrote an outline and then just went and made that doc. It's very strange. Unless you're the type of person who believes in psychics and magic, and then... then I can see how all of this feels magical and mysterious.

You Are In Love
Robin Buckley x Fem!Reader
summary:Â pauses, then says. you're my best friend. and you knew what it was. she is in love
content/warnings:Â angst, fluff, homophobia, anxiety
word count:Â 1.5k
note / request:Â my first robin fic. this is terrifying. i love it because it reminds me of me. i hope you all love it too <3
masterlist
Robin was looking at you. Again. She couldn't help it. Honestly, who could blame her? You were perfect in every way. You were kind, beautiful, extremely smart, and just overall the ideal girl. What was there not to love?
Robin had had a crush on you since you were in elementary school. She didn't realize it at first, she didn't even realize she was a lesbian at that time. The opinions regarding the LGBTQ community that are held by the large amount of Hawkins' residents pushed the thoughts deeper and deeper into her brain, willing her to ignore them, to be just like everyone else.
But in high school, she couldn't contain the thoughts anymore. She could feel her eyes drifting to you in every room. She could feel herself light up whenever your name was mentioned, automatically inserting herself into the conversation if she wasn't a part of it already. She was a little obsessed.
The problem was, she was positive you were straight. You had never really dated anyone throughout the years she's know you but she just thought you wanted to focus more on academics. You never even really looked in her direction. Why would you? She was the weird band kid that everyone tried not to look at, the one that just happened to be head over heels in love with you. You were the head of the student council, the straight A's student, the girl ever other girl wanted to be. The girl that couldn't be gay. Hawkins' pride and joy.
That made things all that much harder when you started working at Scoops Ahoy. You started about two weeks after her and Steve, flying through ever stage of the hiring process with no difficulty. You met every qualification, even exceeded some of them. She was in awe that one person could be so perfect. The more the learned about you, the deeper she fell.
You started to notice her little tells not even a week after you started. You had noticed them in school, but you had kept your suspicions to yourself in order to protect her from the ignorant assholes in this town.
You had come out to your parents when you were in middle school. They were extremely accepting, which you had had no doubt about. They were extreme activists and campaigned for all types of views that were looked down on in a town such as Hawkins in the 80s. That's why your parents had always preached the idea that people are people, opinions are opinions, and none are ever wrong or lesser than the others unless they are driven by hate. They had been your main supporters most of your life.
Yet, no matter how hard you tried to tune out the words, it wasn't always that easy. Words hurt. And, as far as you could tell, Robin's family didn't seem like a very accepting bunch. They had never been outright disrespectful towards the LGBTQ community, but you don't have to be blatantly rude to be offensive.
That's why you had continued to pretend you never noticed. Maybe Robin was just confused. Or you had the completely wrong idea altogether. Either way, it's too risky for you to pursue anything. So, you kept it platonic with a capital P. No matter how much you wish it could be different, things were better this way. Safer. Maybe, this way, you can shield her from the ugliness of the world. The ugliness you have consistently fallen victim to.
------------
Everything changed a few months after you started working at Scoops Ahoy. You, Robin, and Steve had all went out to celebrate the college acceptance letter you had just recently gotten in the mail. You had all gotten a little deeper in the celebration than you planned, staying out until nearly five o'clock in the morning when you all had a shift at eight.
You all started heading towards the car, extremely exhausted from a long work day and a very long night. Robin called shotgun, running to beat Steve to the door because he thought calling shotgun was stupid. She beat him, as always, and Steve reluctantly settled into the back seat as you took your spot as driver.
"Hey Y/N, do you mind if I stay with you tonight? My parents would kill me if they thought I was out this late. If they think I was with you, I'm covered. It's completely okay if not I totally understand...."
"Robin, it's cool. My parents love you. And, I don't really want my best friend to die." You sent her a reassuring smile, hoping to settle the nerves she obviously had. Strict parents and late nights can do that to a person.
"Hey, can I stay too?"
"In your dreams, Harrington." Steve slumped back into his seat, faking disappointment. He tried that bit every time.
The ride to Steve's only took about five minutes. You and Robin both quickly told him goodnight, hoping to leave before his parents came out. You rushed out of there as soon as he got into his window, content that the coast was clear.
------------
You and Robin rode about five minutes down the road in complete silence. Usually, silence between you two is pretty comfortable since you both aren't huge talkers. However, this silence felt tense and awkward. It felt like something was different somehow.
"Hey Y/N, I have to ask you something."
"Shoot." You didn't even take your eyes of the road, therefore missing the anxiety in Robin's expression.
"Are you really gonna go to that school?" This time you faced her the slightest bit, attempting to figure out where this was coming from.
"Um... I don't know yet. It's a great school, but it's really far from my parents. And, I don't know if I can just leave you and Steve to run Scoops Ahoy. The place might burn down!." Your attempt at alight-hearted joke in no way lightened the mood. The tension in the car was persistent to say the least.
"What's up Rob? You've seemed off all night. Now you're asking if I really want to take one of the best offers I could've ever received. The offer you have been insisting could be life-changing for me. Are you feeling okay?" Something in Robin snapped right then, sending a whole bunch of words out over the span of a few seconds.
"I don't want you to go to that stupid school, okay? You're my best friend. Well, actually more than that if I'm honest but that's besides the point. You can't leave me all alone with Steve. What am I supposed to do without..."
"Wait wait wait. What do you mean by more than that?" You cut her off. You didn't mean to. You knew that she hated when people did that to her, but you couldn't gloss over what she had just said.
"God, this is not how I imagined this. Not how I imagined this at all. I had it all planned out! A calm movie night, late night talks about that future..."
"Robin..."
"I like you, okay! I like you a lot. God, I might even love you. But you don't see it. I don't know if it's because you don't feel the same way or if it's just plain obliviousness, but I really like you Y/N. Like a lot a lot."
You had to take a moment to catch your breath. You had always liked Robin, ever since you first saw her in Ms. McKinney's class in the first grade. Sure those feelings didn't really develop into anything more than friendship until high school, but they've always been there.
"Oh my god, I've ruined everything! You probably hate me now. Oh my god. I blew it." You're quickly brought back down to earth by Robin's words, grateful for the opening she gave in order to breathe.
"Robin, you didn't ruin anything. I've liked you forever. I've liked you since I first laid eyes on you." Robin's eyes widen to such an extent that you're sure they're going to pop out of her head.
"Really?" You hate that her face looks so doubtful yet longing. You hate that a part of her thinks you would lie about something this big.
"Yes Robin, really. I think I might even love you too."
For the second time during this conversation, something in Robin snaps. She pulls you to her by your neck and connects your lips. Your body goes into shock, forgetting how to respond in this situation.
Robin pulls back, sensing your hesitation. She starts to formulate an apology, but it's then you that pulls her towards you and connects your lips, this time in full control. Your lips move together seamlessly, almost as if they were destined to be together. Almost as if you and Robin were destined to be together.
You both pull away for air, gasping from the intensity of the kiss. Robin looks towards you with her swollen lips and wide eyes, blushing fiercely. You send her a sly smirk, intent on making that look never leave her face.
You start the car without another word, rushing to your house as quickly as your car could go. You're probably speeding, but you honestly couldn't care less.
"You can feel it on the way home"

âWedding Crashersâ - Katsuki Bakugou
A/N: Sorry for my inactivity but hereâs a little sorry and thank you present for me hitting 1k! I love you all sm <3
Pairings: Pro Hero!Bakugou x F!Reader
Warnings: 18+, ooc deku; but itâs more of a headcanon, semi-public sex
Summary: Your ex-boyfriend Izuku Midoriya inviting you to his wedding is a definite stab in yours and Katsuki Bakugouâs backs. But youâll show him.
Word Count: 5k
masterlist
You had considered your morning to be relatively normal, breakfast not burnt, coffee just that right amount of bitter to stir you awake. But those happy moments of peaceful bliss were soon to be fleeting as your mail arrived. Sifting through the pile to what you assumed would be bank statements and bills; your fingers landed on a cream white envelope. Your name printed neatly in a cursive font that when you followed it with your eyes for too long it almost made you want to puke. Tearing it open haphazardly, you read the perfumed content inside.
âDear Y/N Y/LN,
We are very proud to invite you to the blah blah blah wedding of pro hero blah blah Izuku Midoriya and blah blah blah.
RSVP blah-â
Wait what? The taste in your mouth was pitiful. Yes, you and Izuku had dated years prior and after being childhood friends, yet it didnât end⌠swimmingly. But this didnât feel like inviting a childhood friend to your happiest day, no, this felt like a backhanded swipe at your ex-girlfriend who was well known to the media to be single. Pro-Hero gossip magazines made sure of that.
Throwing the invitation onto your countertop, your eyebrows furrowed with spite. You felt weak almost, watching your ex-best friend grow up to be this bountiful hero with merch in every store that you went to. Though you had triumphed well in the hero charts yourself, nothing ever seemed to compare to him. The golden boy. You never really got over the fact that he ended things because being a single hero was more postable than one who was tied down. Until now. Mr. Big shot getting married. It really made you question your integrity,
Recuperating your thoughts, you realised your phone was buzzing on the couch next to you. Checking to see the influx of text messages, you saw Katsuki Bakugouâs name fill up your lockscreen with notifications.
Bakugou: tell me you got the stupid fuckin invite too
Bakugou: the nerve that nerd still fuckin has
Bakugou: inviting his childhood âfriendsâ after all this time
Bakugou: tch, one big publicity stunt if you ask me
You chuckle as you scroll through the messages, gladly knowing that you werenât the only one feeling this way.
Y/N: so whatâre we going to do about it?
Bakugou: what do you mean?
Y/N: well we canât show him up at his own wedding but we can sure stir something of our own
Bakugou: well that idiot is marrying some nobody extra
Bakugou: probably to show how âgreatâ he is
Bakugou: so how about if two top pro heroes rsvpâd together?
Y/N: you mean us?
Bakugou: no, midnight and grape juice. of course us you idiot
The idea brewed in your head for a moment. Izuku had always been nice when he was younger, and Katsuki hadnât exactly been the nicest towards him in return. You were always the mediator in those situations. However when Deku grew and grew in the hero charts he started to lose touch with reality. Not really remembering what being a hero was about besides having his face stuck on a lunch box and raking in the dough for it. It was sad. You didnât know who he was anymore.
Y/N: fuck it, iâm in
-
âYou know, donât think Iâve ever seen you in a tux before.â You chuckle, arm linked around Bakugouâs as you stepped out of the chauffeured car together. You were here to make a scene. Paparazzi glistened everywhere like a moth to a candle flame. You couldnât wait for the tabloids in all honesty.
âShut up.â Bakugou grumbled, almost in embarrassment. But his smile didnât show a hint of it. âNot looking too bad yourself.â
You had coordinated well. Your maroon dress flowed in the gentle summer breeze and matched perfectly to Bakugouâs equally coloured tux. You two were such a pair it was nigh impossible to not think that you two were together today. And the paparazzi made sure of that indefinitely.
You couldnât lie about how the service was beautiful, because it was. However you didnât need to hear the shutter clicks of a camera go off every few words they spoke. It was distracting, and you and Bakugou shared a glance each time it occurred. Stifling a giggle, you hoped no camera would pick that up. Even if they did, theyâd probably pin it to âlook at these other heroes wishing that they were the next to get married!â theyâd eat that shit uplike ambrosia.
âCanât wait to see the reception.â You mumbled towards Bakugou, your plastic smiles never fading for the cameras. Izuku making a show of himself and his new bride.
Watching him was almost bittersweet. The happy memories of you three as children flashing behind your eyes. Now replaced with a fame hungry number one hero. Where had all the time gone?
âWhatâs got you so perplexed?â Katsuki asked, filtering your way through the crowd, making your way to the cars that would deliver you all to the reception.
âJust-â You sigh, allowing the cover of other heroes to hide you from the all seeing eyes of the paparazzi. âI miss him, yâknow? Miss how we used to be.â
âTch.â Bakugou didnât care about the scowl present on his face, your words ate him up like some sort of bacteria. âThought you said that he was the most selfish guy youâd ever dated?â
âHe was but like-â You watched Izukuâs back as he held his new partnerâs hand. Waving to the cameras and not watching her, as lovely as she looked in her wedding gown. âAs weird as it sounds, I sometimes miss high school.â
Bakugouâs eyes scanned your face, following your eyesight to Midoriya. Fucking extra. The thoughts swam around his head, polluting his mind. He knew Izukuâs break up with you had been a massive toll on your mental health and your ego. He made you think that you werenât good enough for him, and Bakugou never got over that fact. How could he pass up on you for anything else?
Breaking apart from the conglomerative of wedding-goers, Bakugou lead you to one of the specially hired cars to take the guests to the reception. Despite Bakugouâs abrasive and rough nature, you couldnât help but notice how delicately he held your hand. Not tugging you along or haphazardly grabbing you by your wrist, making you follow him. No, his fingers interlaced with yours and you felt the coarseness of his palms due to the explosive nature of his quirk.
âKatsu?â
âHm?â
âYou can let go of my hand now, weâre in the car.â
âYeah- whatever.â
Catching up in the car, you both realise how little time you have to actually spend with each other. Though you and Bakugou communicate 1000 times more than you do with Midoriya, heroing keeps you both busy. No times like these to goof off and be with each other. You missed it, you missed your hot-headed idiot friend.
âHope thereâs less fuckinâ paparazzi here. Think Iâm gonna go blind with those extras pointing them in my face.â Bakugou rolled down the tinted window a smidge to watch as the car drove into an old looking manor hall where guests had already begun to arrive.
Flowers decorated the ground and just as you two got your hopes up, you saw a line of paparazzi at each side of the staircase leading to the double-doored entrance.
âWell, it was worth a try.â You remark to him, patting his back as you chuckled to him.
Bakugou was the first to exit, standing beside the door so he could reach for your hand to help you out while you fixed your dress. Just as the two of you began to reach for each other's arms to walk into the reception together; there was a brusque tug to your dress. Upon further inspection, a member of the shutterbugs had stood on a long section of your dress. Allowing himself to get pictures of it stretched out and flowy.
âHey!â Bakugou didnât waste time on pushing him off the tail end of the dress. âTry anything funny like that again with my girl and say goodbye to that shitty camera of yours!â
The man nodded, slowly letting his camera hang loose on his neck. The rest of the cameramen easily caught the scene but you both couldnât care less. Whatâs a wedding without a little drama?
âThanks Katsuki.â You note with a soft smile.
Bakugouâs hand tenderly makes its way around the small of your back until his arm is holding you close to him as you walk inside. His hand sitting in a caring way at your hip to assure that nothing could come between you both. You could not wait for the media to plaster this fake-ness on every outlet that they could! However, you liked the thought of relishing in the attention right now.
Once the dining festivities had come and gone. It was time for their first dance. Watching as he held her under the blue lighting had your heart hurting slightly. The thought that that couldâve been you. But Bakugou was right. Heâs probably marrying some quirkless nobody not only to make himself look better, but being with another hero is messy. You both had media eyes on you; but⌠you couldnât help but wonder how different your life would be like if Midoriya was how he used to be.
You didnât even notice Bakugouâs eyes on you the whole time. Not wanting to waste a second of his eyesight on the show Izuku was putting on. You were a sight of your own. How could you not see that you deserved someone better? Someone like him. You always spoke about how everyone was under a facade when supporting Deku, but you never correlated that to yourself.
After a short while, others began to join in on the large dance floor. Perfectly spacious for all the famous faces and their egos. Bakugouâs hand traced down your arm until his hand clasped with yours, gently leading you to the floor yourselves.
âWhatâre you doing?â
âCome on, whoâs to say we canât have some fun too huh?â
Smiling at him, you followed his lead. His hand occupying your waist before pulling you in closer to his chest. Flowing with the music, you couldnât help the cheesy smile on your face; nor the one that spread to Bakugouâs.
âWhyâs no one ever tied down Mr. Ground Zero then?â Your question takes Bakugou by surprise, showing a small blip in your combined graceful swaying to the music.
âNo ones good enough.â Such a Bakugou answer.
âYouâre sounding like Izuku, but he probably got that from the old you.â You jested, earning an eye roll from Bakugou. âIâm being serious! Come on you can tell me.â
It takes him a moment to figure out an answer, so much so that he doesnât focus on dancing anymore. He just stands there holding you before locking eyes again.
âJust havenât found the right person to deal with my bullshit I guess.â
Thereâs a beat of silence and your eyes search his face for answers. You didnât even realise how close you were to him. His breath fanning your face, the smell of oak and fire and burning sweetness engulfed your senses. You also didnât realise how the two of you sank closer and closer into one another.
âHey Kacchan, mind if I steal her from you?â
Izukuâs voice almost sends you two flying away from each other like same sides of a magnet.
âAsk her yourself sheâs not mine.â You turn from Bakugou to give a friendly smile to Midoriya, allowing your hand to rest in his. âIâll be at the bar. Free drinks and all.â
His answers are short, curt. Yet before you can ask him if heâs alright Deku spins you and begins to dance with you in his arms at the tempo of the new music track thatâs playing.
âLong time no see Y/N!â His manner has always been so chipper, despite the facade of it all. Though Bakugou and you went there to purposefully to cause discourse; you donât think you have it in you to be mean to Izukuâs face.
âYeah, look at you! Married man now, must be scary.â You chuckle, almost nervously. It was like speaking to a stranger.
âWell I guess Iâll find out! But come on thatâs been the subject of the whole day! I wanna know about you and Kacchan.â You felt like Bakugou right now, the old nickname boiling your blood as it did his. There was no doubt Izuku took influence from Bakugou and his fiery personality; but he took it in all the wrong ways. Using confidence to become cold, uncaring.
âOh- haha, Katsuki and I arenât-â
âY/N. Donât lie to me! I can see the way heâs burning holes in my tux from over here.â
Turning you to the music so you could face where Katsuki was standing, you peaked behind Midoriyaâs arm to see Bakugou with an all too familiar scowl on his face. Chasing down a beverage in a crystalline glass in one easy gulp.
âIf you ask me Midoriya heâs always looked at you that way.â You laugh your statement off but you meant it with malice.
âMidoriya? Feeling formal today are we Y/N?â He had completely lost touch of who he used to be. âI used to look at you like that when I saw you with other guys, I know what that look is.â
His comment stops you dead in your tracks, not allowing for him to swing you to and fro to the music.
âActually Midoriya I donât even remember you looking me with jealous intent other than when I was higher than you on the hero charts.â Shaking yourself free from his towering position on you, you stormed off to the patio doors, letting yourself be eaten by the oncoming darkness of night.
Crying at your exâs wedding. Not something youâd think youâd ever do in your lifetime but here you were. Thankfully you couldnât see any reporters or such outside so for now, it was just you and your tears. Maybe you were too harsh on him? You used to be friends right? What happened to that kid who wanted to be a hero who you looked up to? What happened to the boyfriend you had who kissed you goodnight and ignored you when your face was on the TV more than him or snapped at you when he was announced lower than you and broke up with you because âheroes dating are messy!â No. Bakugou was right. He was a self-righteous bastard now.
âY/N?â
You half expected Midoriya to come out after you but he was probably entertaining other guests. Luckily, as you turned you saw Bakugou standing outside with you, signature hands in his pockets with a dumb, sympathetic smirk on his face.
âHey.â
âI promise I didnât punch that asshole at his own wedding but I can tell you he got a fuckinâ earful from me. Hope the paps got a good pic.â His tone was joking but it hadnât cracked a smile from you yet.
âSâalright. Wouldnât give two shits if you did.â You sniffled, collecting mascara tears on your fingers and wiping them on the decorative concrete bannisters of the balcony. âShouldnâtâve fucking come. This was stupid I have too much baggage for this shit.â
You turned away from him, allowing yourself to lean out on the barrier, looking into the distance on the warm night. You could hear Bakugou give a small sigh before his arms snuck around your waist, pulling your back into his chest before placing a chaste kiss on the top of your head.
âThat fuckinâ idiot didnât know what he lost and itâs my fault for influencinâ him.â The pain in his voice was evident. Did Bakugou blame himself for the hurt Midoriya caused you?
âKatsu-â
âNo. That extra is so blinded by the shit everyone has to say that heâs forgotten what real life is. Doesnât care about his stupid fans or his friends or the best most understanding girl in the whole fucking world. A girl I know does the best for everyone no matter what her own situation is.â You turn around to face him, not wanting to leave his embrace. âY/N. No matter how much Iâve always wanted to fuckinâ win Iâve just wanted the best for you. And when that bastard did what he did to you- I- fuck. You look at him, like youâre waiting for him to just notice you; but every time I see you itâs like Iâm seeing you set the stars in the sky every fuckin night. You just- youâre fuckinâ everything to me Y/N.â
It was completely silent on the balcony besides the low thump of the music from indoors, but it was deafening. But it all faded when his lips attached to yours. It was so clear. All that pining over Midoriya when he was just copying the one who actually saw you for who you were. He even copied Bakugouâs crush on you, most likely to make him jealous. But your mind had no time to think of that when all you could feel was Bakugou.
It was like you had never been kissed before, never felt the love and sensuality behind it. Soft and moist but breathy and warm. For once Bakugou didnât wish to win a battle, he wanted unity and to be together with you. His hands danced over the delicate curves of you in your dress; taking in every inch of your perfect body. The gasp that fell from your mouth was perfect entrance for Bakugouâs tongue to mingle with yours. The sparks hot and electric between you both was like liquid lightning.
Just as your hands found home in his hair, you heard the all too familiar sound of today of a photo being taken. Bakugou is the first to break the kiss to find the intruder of your special moment. Your lips already feel blushed and bruised but your heart was nearly pounding out your chest.
âFuckinâ print that in your gossip magazine you extra!â Bakugou couldnât help but heartily laugh at the man as he shook with worry after catching the intimate moment. He wanted to show you off. He wasnât ashamed that his lips had captured you to be his.
âLetâs go somewhere more private.â He whispers into your ear and you eagerly nod, grasping his one hand with your two as the both of you manouvered your way through the wedding guests until you finally found a small closet down a hallway where no one from the party had entered.
Slamming the door shut behind you, your eyes drank in Bakugouâs frame. How had you missed that small boy you once knew had now become this beefy, beautiful man? Who was looking at you with the same awe and intent? Bakugou cornered you against the door of the supply closet, latching his lips together with yours once again as if he was scared heâd never be able to taste you again.
âYouâre fuckinâ perfect.â Katsukiâs lips mashed with yours as his hands slid up your dress, the coarseness of his fingers against your soft skin sending shivers down your spine.
All those years of being a hero really showed on Bakugou, he lifted you with ease as your fingers traced scars on the back of his neck; holding on for support. His hips pin you against the door and you feel his cock hardening between the fabric of your underwear and his suit pants, you canât help the whimper escaping your lips at the friction of him.
Bakugouâs hands slip under the straps of your dress, letting them fall delicately to your sides as his lips ensnare yours. His grunts and your whimpers enough to make any passerby know what was going on in the confined space of the closet. His fingers glide beneath the dress which allowed it to fall further as Bakugou felt the weight of your breasts in his palms.
âGod youâre fucking everything princess.â His fingers slide beneath the lacy fabric to thumb your nipples, perking and tugging it with his forefinger.
Breaking the kiss, his head lowers to encapsulate the bud in his mouth. Gently suckling it before rolling it feverishly between his teeth. Your hands snaking through his hair only spurring the assault on your supple flesh. Biting your lip to stop the obvious moans that were threatening to spill out of your mouth. You swore you could see stars as his tongue flicked against the pointed nub- sending your nerves wild.
âBet that fucking extra never treated you like this baby.â He matched your height, his gaze never leaving your own as he took both of your tits out of your bra; kneading the flesh and buds of your nipples as he spoke. âJust wanted to get himself off, I know how to fuckinâ treat you right.â
âThen do it⌠Kacchan.â You spoke with such gusto in your breathy state, knowing that the old nickname would make him see red. And god did it send him feral.
His body pressed you further into the door, even if it felt like he couldnât. The aching feel of his cock rubbing against your clothed core made you mewl in want of him. His fingers slid beneath the hem of your dress and made little pricking motions into your inner thighs until he traced a slit over your panties.
âShit youâre fucking wet.â The pads of his fingers kneading against where you wanted him most, a chuckle falling his lips as your hips did their best to try and get any sort of relief.
âKatsuki please- please fuck oh my god-â Your neck craned back as you felt your body take control. The low growl in Bakugouâs throat at the sight of you barely touched and already begging for him.
Tracing his fingers along your dĂŠcolletage he stopped when he met your parted lips before roughly shoving his fingers in your mouth, pressing down the body of your tongue.
âPlease please please-â Katsuki mocked. âPlease what princess? Better use your fuckinâ words or else.â
An insufferable smirk played upon his lips as he felt your cunt clench around nothing at his dirty words. Pulling his fingers from your mouth, he wiped the remnants of your spit across your tits; awaiting for your response.
âFuck me Katsuki- please youâre all I want. God youâre all I need.â Although said in your aroused state. You meant it- and he knew that.
Not wasting any more of the precious time you two had before you were inevitably found out considering your blatant disregard for being quiet; Bakugou used his hand to tug off his belt. Nearly setting his suit pants on fire as his quirk crackled in anticipation for you.
Your body clung to Bakugouâs for support, his whole body easily keeping your pinned high between himself and the door. Once his lower half was sufficiently stripped, it was easy enough for him to rip the sides of your underwear off.
âKatsu-â
âShut up.â
Not wanting to disagree; you did. Hips bucking against nothing as the cool air prickled at your hot cunt. Bakugou held his manhood in his hand, rubbing the head of it in your slick and providing stimulation to your clit. Your thighs tightening around his waist like a vice grip at the well needed attention.
âYouâre fuckinâ soaking baby. So needy.â Bakugou mumbled against your neck, allowing himself and you to get off momentarily at the friction. You could only nod to his words which were making you more and more wet for him. He was such a tease.
âCome on princess. Tell me you want my cock. Tell me.â His voice growled as he repeated himself, leaving marks upon your nape that would surely bruise because of his harsh bites and sucklings.
âKatsuki I need you- only you. Only you.â Your repetition is barely a whisper but he heard it, and despite his rough nature Bakugou confines your lips in a kiss as he sheaths himself inside of you.
Taking a few slow thrusts to allow yourself to adapt to his size, itâs only a moment before Bakugou completely bottoms out inside of you. He watches your face shiver in pleasure which he mirrors. He clasps your hips so firmly his knuckles turn white; it didnât even hurt as all you could focus on was him inside you. Your hands find their way to his biceps, gripping on for some tension relief and you could still feel his muscles flex even beneath his suede blazer and the shirt.
âWhat a good fuckinâ girl, taking my cock like this.â Bakugouâs voice is a low growl as he thrusts into you, the sounds of your clothes brushing against one another and the slaps of your skin interacting was like a sinful symphony.
The smell of caramel danced in your brain as Bakugou worked up a sweat absolutely pummeling himself into your sex. You grasped onto him as if your life depended on it, moaning into his neck as his cock slid in and out of you. You didnât even know how much time was passing as he rutted himself into you relentlessly- yet as you both came to your highs, you could both barely move from the thrill of it all.
Steadying your breaths back to a regular pace; Bakugou slid you down from where he had pinned you against the door and let you fix yourself as he then did himself. You sorted your dress and pulled any tugs from your hair when he had pulled it before slapping Bakugouâs arm.
âYou dick! You ripped my underwear!â
âHot.â He chuckled, fixing his belt loops and stuffing the ripped panties into his pocket.
âNot funny! Iâm not parading about with no underwear on!â
âWeâre getting the fuck out of this extras stupid wedding. You can wear my clothes at my place.â Suitably sorted and not looking like you had just had the brains fucked out of you in a closet (despite the reddening bites and bruises that were now appearing on your neck), Bakugou held you close. Yet instead of taking the corridor to the exit, he was leading you back to the main dance hall.
âWhereâre we going?â You hashly whispered to Bakugou, your thighs still wet from your slick and the cool air against your unclothed pussy making you heat up from embarrassment.
âGots to do one thing before we go.â Thereâs a shit eating grin on his face, you couldn't help but wonder what on earth he was planning now.
Midoriya stood talking to other heroes all dressed in their formal attire and Bakugou (with no consideration of their conversation) roughly tapped his shoulder to get his immediate attention. His arm around your waist was so tight but being see with Bakugou like this made you feel almost proud.
âWeâre just heading off.â Bakugou had replaced his smile for his usual scowl, something he had always looked at Izuku with.
âGoing so soon? Itâll be a shame you guys!â Izukuâs voice was plastered in falsehood. He probably regretted trying to gloat over you two. Bakugou held out his hand for Midoriya to shake it, your brows furrowed on what was obviously a stepping stone to Bakugouâs plan.
âI know I might not be better at you right now in the hero charts.â
Uh oh.
âIâm glad youâve finally come to recognise that Kaccha-â
âBut I am better at you at something for sure.â
Bakugou used Midoriyaâs hand in his to pull him closer, readying himself to whisper in his ear.
âCause I just fucked the shit out of your ex-girlfriend and I know you never made her come as hard as I did.â
Your face burned with the heat of a million suns, but the glower on Izukuâs face was priceless. And you couldnât help but see the flash of a camera capture the moment as Bakugouâs hand fell from his and slipped once again around your waist.

Dating the famous mangaka Kishibe Rohan would be an honor to most people. He's a man of power and fame, who wouldn't want to be with him? The moms who hang out at the park always tell you that you should feel like the luckiest person in the world. They'd tell you that a million girls would kill to be in your shoes.
Although you love Rohan with all your heart (and you should feel deserving of his love), you sometimes start to wonder if dating the great Kishibe Rohan is worth it.
You met Rohan at an art exhibit in France. You had been a model for several pieces in that said exhibit, so obviously you had to come along for the event. Meeting Rohan was a love at first sight. He had asked if you would want to model for him sometime, and you had agreed. Soon after one visit and project, came after another, and then another, until you were working mainly with the mangaka. You can't say you didn't like it though, you enjoyed being in Rohan's presence. He was chivalrous when he wanted to be, and you found his sarcastic nature be quite humorous in fact. You spent so much time with Rohan in fact, you would have considered him a friend. Your relationship with the mangaka was no longer just work related, the both of you had become good friends.
However, the real problem in your friendship with Rohan began to show when your parents were involved. Your parents tolerated Rohan (or at least you thought they did), but they were getting annoyed with the fact the mangaka kept hogging your time. You should be modeling with professional photographers, or modeling for famous designers. But instead you're being used as reference from some manga artist in Japan.
You understood your parent's point of view in the subject, but you enjoyed working with Rohan more than you did any other project you had worked on. You continued to visit Rohan, despite your parent's protests (and Rohan couldn't have been happier).
The more visits that happened, the closer you got to the mangaka. It wasn't long before Rohan had asked you on a date. Eventually multiple dates leaded to the both of you starting a relationship. You knew your parents would hate Rohan even more now, but he didn't seem to mind. He'd always tell you that he didn't care what your parents thought about him, he was content with having you as a partner. Even if your parents did find out about your secret relationship, you highly doubt they would react dramatically. Sure, they'd really, really dislike it, but they wouldn't disown you for it. After all you were a grown adult, you should be able to make your own decisions right?
At least that's what you thought. One day, Rohan made an unexpected visit on your front door step. You didn't expect for him to be there, nor did you know how he got your address (considering the fact you lived in a completely different continent), but you didn't think much of it since you thought this could be your chance to properly introduce Rohan to your parents.
The introduction went by smoothly, Rohan was getting along with your parents, and your parents seemed to accept that Rohan was your partner. However, it did seem a bit suspicious that your parent's dislike of Rohan turned into an approval almost in a span of a few minutes. They had even agreed to let you move out with Rohan. While you could admit that you and Rohan had been planning to live in Morioh-Cho together, you didn't think it'd happen instantly. And that your parents would agree nonetheless. Regardless, you and Rohan accepted your parent's blessing's and left France.
You vividly remembered on your plane flight to Morioh-Cho, Rohan had whispered in your ear while stroking your hair softly, "You must be lucky to have me right [first]? I'm all you have left now.."
-
Life in Morioh-Cho was sweet to say the least. It was a drastic change from living in a fashion capital of the world, to a small quiet place where there was much to do. Nevertheless, you truly enjoyed your new life, it was better than going to photoshoots every week. Speaking of which, you never do photoshoots anymore. Rohan convinced you to quit your job as a model (since he is wealthy enough to provide for the both of you anyway), and you had agreed. Though, every time you mentioned getting a job to Rohan, he'd simply call you an idiot for wanting to work. He'd ask you if he needed step up his game for you, and you'd only close your mouth in the conversation.
Your relationship with Rohan was a drastic change too. From what was sweet, humble dates every weekend, went to being locked in a home for what was everyday. Rohan would spend hours in his art studio, drawing multiple pages for his manga. He'd tell you to not go out while he was working. But even then, that's most of the time.
You'd be lying if you didn't find this type of behavior weird.
-
"I'm leaving to go visit Italy for a couple of days [first]. Do you remember the rules?"
You nodded and kissed Rohan's cheek before handing him his suitcase. "Don't go outside unless we run out of groceries, don't let people inside-" Rohan cut you off "Especially those idiots Josuke and Okuyasu" he said scoffing at his distaste for the boys. You only sighed in response, "Especially Josuke and Okuyasu. Hope you have a good trip love" you smiled holding his hands close to your chest. Rohan kissed your lips softly and mumbled a quick 'goodbye' before leaving your shared home. You sighed and walked into the kitchen, before sitting down on a chair. You respected his rules, and you didn't want to lie to him, but you were bored out of your mind. You wanted to go out and have fun. Not to mention, although you know that Rohan could buy you whatever you wanted; but you wanted to have some money of your own. You can't rely on Rohan forever. You had decided that tomorrow you'd start looking for a job (any job, part-time even, you just wanted some type of job to keep you entertained for a while). Rohan would get mad sure, but you promised you'd discuss when he'd come back. You were sure he'd support you
You were sure of it.
-
Looking for a job was harder than you thought. It seemed that nobody wanted to hire somebody who only had 'model' on their resume. Sometimes you'd wish you had taken on other jobs other than modeling, maybe then people would hire you. Regardless, you kept looking, desperate to find a job somewhere.
In the end, you ended up finding an Italian restaurant after hours of searching. You stepped in and was greeted a tall, blonde Italian man. "Hello good afternoon my name is Tonio, welcome to my restuarant" he greeted you while smiling at you sweetly. You smiled awkwardly and muttered a quick 'thank you', "Um Tonio san, I'm not here to eat..but I'd like to ask you if you are hiring. I can't cook, but I can be a waitress!-" you exclaimed, leaving Tonio in a small shock. He looked at you up and down before smiling at you once again, "Well I don't usually hire people since I'm doing good on my own, but I guess a little help wouldn't hurt.." he told you. You smiled back and hugged him, "Oh thank you so much! You don't know how much I struggled finding a job today-" you let him go, "Uhm, sorry.." you mumbled. He chuckled and led you to a table.
The two of you talked a bit for a while, you told hima bout your modeling career and your relationships, while he told you about his journey to Japan and Italian cuisine. You both shared laughs and stories together, you had a good time. Your time with Tonio became even better when he officially had hired you as a waitress! You were happy, and you couldn't wait to tell Rohan when he got home!
"Well I'll see you next week Tonio!" you shouted as you left the door, carrying the bouquet of daisies Tonio had gifted you. Tonio smiled, "I'll see you then bambina!".
-
You arrive a little later than planned (guess you spent too much time talking to Tonio), but you finally made it home safe and sound. You might as well start cleaning, since you weren't going to sleep any time soon. As you opened the door, you were met face to face with Rohan. You dropped your daises on the floor, and began to think of all the apologies and excuses you could think of. But it was no use, excuses would only make Rohan's anger boil even more.
Why was he even here in the first place? Wasn't he supposed to be in Italy by now?!
"Rohan I-"
"Save it, I don't want to hear a word from you" Rohan growled angrily before walking towards you. He had pulled out a pen and you felt as if you passed out.
Rohan had used Heaven's Door to read the pages of your life. He looked for the information of today, and when he did, he was fuming. He read his newly learned information out loud, gripping onto your hair in the process, "This man named Tonio is so handsome, and he cooks too.. I feel like this skirt is a bit risquĂŠ, but oh well.." with that last sentence Rohan had the last straw. He removed his stand's effect on you, but not before writing a few things.
Once the effects of Heaven's Door were gone, you began to feel a heat between your legs. Noticing you were on your knees, you crawled your way to Rohan, "Rohann, feel so hot need you.." you mewled out. Rohan was furious with your previous behavior, but maybe this would help you learn a few things. "So you were tempted to cheat on me right? I bet you wouldâve enjoyed if that Tonio flipped your skirt right?" he said slapping your face in the process. You whimpered, "No no no no, that's not true..please need you. Need you so bad" you were starting to tear up just by him insinuating you were going to cheat on him. Rohan looked down at you, gods you looked so pathetic, just like he wanted you to look like.
"Such a fucking slut" he said unbuckling his pants, eager to have your warm and needy mouth all around his cock. Once he finished doing that he looked at you dead in the eye, "Suck. Suck like the whore you are. Aren't you ashamed [first]? I bet you also sucked Tonioâs cock in that job interview right?â He said watching you as you sloppily sucked his cock. You probably arenât even thinking right now, your just hungry for his cock right? Such a little slut. âAnd to think your parents didnât like me. They just didnât know you belonged to me. But thatâs fine I had to get rid of them regardless..â he chuckled before he bucked his hips into your mouth repeatedly.
Rohan grabs you by the hair and begins to push your head down his member, sinking your mouth down to his pubes; much to your displeasure. At the moment however he didnât care what you felt, sluts like you donât mind right? He continued to do so for a few more seconds before he came in your mouth, groaning loudly. He came inside your mouth, and there was so much of it you couldnât help but to cough some out.
You laid your head on his lap and breathed out softly, before Rohan lifted your chin up and grinned,
âWho said we were done?â
-
Dating the great Kishibe Rohan would be an honor to most people. Who wouldnât want to be by his side. Unfortunately for you, dating Kishibe Rohan was not a glitter and sparkles.
Being Kishibe Rohanâs personal cum dump isnât much better either.

Seungcheol takes it as a blessing that he doesnât work on the weekends.
You do your camshow on Friday and upload prerecorded content on Saturday which leaves two whole days of relaxation that the two of you enjoy.
But Monday comes quicker than you anticipate and Seungcheol drops you off to work before he heads back to the roller rink; ignoring the multitudes of texts it seems Jeongguk is sending.
Iâll be at work in 30 minutes, he thinks.
âIâll be back to pick you up after work, baby!â
You nod back, blowing Seungcheol a kiss through the window before you turn to leave.
Seungcheolâs phone rings 3 more times, brows furrowed.
âIt can wait.â
âHyung, weâre in trouble⌠Maybe?â
Jeonggukâs big puppy eyes stare back at the older male and he can already feel the blood draining from his face at the potential reasons that the younger male would even say that. âUm⌠is---is this pertaining to why you tried calling like 14 times?â Jeongguk nods, tugging on Seungcheolâs shirt and pulling him in closer.
âBefore you say anything⌠Namjoon-hyung didnât find out, did he?â
âFind out about what?â
âThat I⌠cam⌠I donât want to get fired because I--â
Jeongguk rolls his eyes, âListen, Iâm gonna be real, I donât think he cares. The problem is⌠remember that dude that came in? A couple weeks ago. Lookinâ for a job.â
Seungcheol nods slowly; trying to remember the maleâs name. âSeok--something, right?â Jeongguk nods.
âApparently, he came back, and at the right time too. Namjoon hired his ass on the spot and he starts tomorrow. I heard from Seokjin.â Confusion crosses Seungcheolâs features as he stares and waits for Jeongguk to continue. â... And? How is that trouble for us?â
Jeongguk lets out an over dramatic sigh, hands on Seungcheolâs shoulders. âNevermind, I forgot youâre making bank on those videos. I was gonna say, we might get a pay cut! Or maybe Joon-hyungâs trying to replace us but I guess thatâs not a âyouâ problem.â
Seungcheol laughs under his breath, shaking his head before patting Jeonggukâs hands.
âYouâll be okay. I donât think anyone is coming for your concession stand job.â
The next day when Seungcheol makes it to work, he canât help but have a weird feeling in his gut.
Much like the time when he first met Jun, thereâs an indescribable feeling bubbling up in his body that he canât seem to shake off once he arrives at the roller rink and the sight of Jeongguk with the new employee doesnât help to settle the feeling at all.
Just before he can make his escape, the younger male waves him over; a cheery smile plastered on his face when Seungcheol starts walking over.
âHyung! Itâs the new employee!â
So much for panicking about being replaced, Jeongguk.
Seungcheol smiles at the other male, introducing himself swiftly before extending a hand to shake. âAh! I remember you! Iâm Seokmin! Iâm the same age as Jeongguk!â Seungcheolâs lips part as he nods in understanding; that had been why Jeongguk seemed so okay with it all of a sudden.
Seokminâs eyes form crescents when he smiles and Seungcheol takes a second to do a once over of the other male; noting the pins tacked to his denim jacket. His eyes hone in on a specific one, narrowing once he realized what it was.
Itâd been a while ago now, but when youâd hit 5k subscribers to your camming channel, you had made only three of the same pin, which you had raffled and only gave to three winners.
By nature, Seungcheol was one of them, and the other two were âxcaliburDKâ and âgentleman_josh95â. Seungcheol could deduce from usernames alone that this wasnât âJoshâ so it only left one option left; albeit Seokmin didnât add up to the username either.
âHyung? Hyung, are you okay? Youâre spacing out.â Jeongguk waves a hand in the elderâs face as Seungcheol shakes himself from his thoughts.
Heâd just have to figure it out later.
Although, he can already feel the groan spilling from his lips.
Why was everyone popping up now?
When he picks you up from work, later that afternoon, he can already tell something is off about you too.
You slink into the passengerâs seat of his car, quiet and a little jittery. âYou okay? You look like youâve seen a ghost.â He comments, watching as you fumble with the seatbelt.
âYeah itâs just⌠Can we talk about it when we get home? I think Iâm still recovering from the weird experience I had earlier.â
Nodding, Seungcheol reaches over, placing his palm in yours in a means of comforting you; even just a little.
âGuess we both have had weird days, huh?â
You canât thank Seungcheol enough for how patient he is.
He doesnât say a word in the car and lets you have your quiet, cool down time before you get home.
But when the lock slides into place and you finally plop down onto the bed, you know itâs finally time to have the talk that you knew was brewing.
âI met another one of my regulars at the diner today.â You mumble; beating Seungcheol to the punch of him asking.
âWeird, I think I ran into one of your regulars at the roller rink today too. He works there now, by the way.â
The two of you share an awkward laugh as Seungcheol lays down next to you; neither of you bothering to change out of your outside clothes as you bask in the oddly similar occurrences. âWouldnât happen to be âuniverse_WZâ would it? He came by the diner earlier, âjust passing through townâ he said. It was so weird though, yâknow? Him and Jun kinda got along âcause apparently theyâre born in the same year.â You smile at the memory, despite how odd it was at first. âHe was quiet and Jun is very much not. I think he bailed earlier than he wanted âcause his ear was getting talked off. But he asked me for an autograph on the way out and some old lady stared at me. It was just⌠a little weird.â
Seungcheol laughs; somewhat glad that your experience hadnât been as bad as he was expecting.
âHow âbout you, âCheol? What was that about him working with you?â
The male groans, sliding a hand down his features. âIt was⌠somethinâ else.â You turn on your side to face him, raising a brow.
âCouldnât be that bad, could it?â
Seungcheol laughs, but only in the way he knows that the next words out of his mouth will sound ridiculous, even to you.
âIâm not going to say who it is because I donât want you to be extra weirded out. Heâs an okay guy, very diligent about his work. But letâs just say I caught a glimpse of his wallpaper, which was you by the way. And when I asked him, âhey, is that your girlfriend?â, the fucker lied and said yes!â
It takes a second before youâre letting out a boisterous laugh; tears springing to your eyes at the hilarious encounter Seungcheol had experienced.
âYouâre not mad!?â He comments, eyes wide as saucers as he watches you curl up in laughter. âI thought youâd be mad!â You wipe a tear from your eye, catching your breath before you turn back to Seungcheol who watches you in confusion.
âNo way, thatâs fuckinâ hilarious! And letâs be real, probably not the first time someoneâs lied about me being their girlfriend, right? But I--he doesnât know, does he? That youâre⌠yâknow, âdom.cheolâ?â Seungcheol blushes, cheeks blooming a pale pink when he thinks about it.
Would his voice be enough to give it away?
âI donât⌠know? He didnât say anything but neither did I, honestly. It was just⌠weird. And now I work with him so thatâll be fun. Canât wait for him to tell me how cute his girlfriend is.â He grumbles.
âAwww, is widdol Swungcheol jealous?â You blink cutely back at him; a teasing smirk on your lips when you see him narrowing his eyes back at you.
âWatch it, brat. You know I can punish you at any time, right?â
âTry me, then~â
Seungcheol mentally logs into his brain and waits until your Wednesday show before he makes a move.
He brings his favorite silk ties from his closet and places them on the bed while you get changed; a sly smirk on his face.
ââOkay, âCheol Iâm--whoa.â You bite your lip when you step out and see the array of ties and the vibrator already sitting on the bed. âUm⌠I take it that these are part of the show tonight?â You end with a shy giggle; body already warm at the way Seungcheol looks at you.
âMmhmm. For the âlil jealous comment you made. What was it that you said? âTry me, thenâ?â He grins in a way that you know youâre screwed and you saunter up to him in hopes of maybe pacifying him a little.
âToo late to say that I take it back?â
âWaaaay too late, baby. Now, letâs get started.â
chwenon has donated $50
sleepy_wonu has donated $100
artist8hao has donated $75
artist8hao: sheâs so pretty with her hands tied behind her back like that
angelhan: shibari next time???
universe_WZ: sheâd be so pretty all tied up
universe_WZ: rly nice seeing u btw ;)
therealchan99: where tf are all of u seeing her!?!?? I need to go out more im lackin bro
alphagyu97: its the way u walk into every set up for me
Seungcheol chuckles under his breath, reading the comments with his hand tangled in your hair and your arms tied behind your back as you work your mouth up and down on his cock.
Before the show had even started, he had quickly rearranged the setup so that the camera was angled down towards the space in front of the bed instead of where it usually faced which was on top of the bed. You were a little confused at first when he had nodded and told you to start your camshow from the rug placed underneath you but it soon made sense when he had tied your arms behind your back and made you suck him off with your knees digging into the rug and a silk tie tied into a bow around your eyes to prevent you from seeing.
âShibari, huh? Ooh, wouldnât it be a treat for your viewers if you did a show where you were all tied up? Iâd have to start it for you, or maybe theyâd like to watch the process and see how quickly I can get you to fall apart.â Seungcheol pauses; hips canting up slightly into your mouth as you swallow and gag around him. âWe can make it an extra long camshow⌠Maybe a pay-per-view situation. They can watch you squirm and cum all night long while I keep a vibrator pressed against your clit until your cute body is trembling.â
Your eyes roll to the back of your head even if Seungcheol canât see it and you moan around his cock when you feel him throbbing in your mouth.
The sound of donations and comments is all you can go off of with your back towards the camera and your vision taken away; noting that the viewers mustâve liked the idea.
j__min has donated $150
j__min: popping in to say if u need help buying ropes, i know a guy ;)
alphagyu97: wait is this rly happening
alphagyu97: iâll clear my schedule gentleman_josh95: yea same
xcaliburDK: i just started a new job i cant have any sick days plz⌠at least reupload it for me đđ
Seungcheol smirks when he reads that particular comment; fingertips massaging your skull when he hears you whining. âI know, baby. You wanna be fucked, huh? It isnât nice being teased, right? So now you know how I feel~â In a blink of an eye, âxcaliburDKâs comment is buried and Seungcheol is thankful that you didnât see it. Heâd just have to keep it a secret for now while he played along and listened to what else Seokmin had to say about his so-called âgirlfriendâ.
You rub your thighs together; already feeling the slickness on them from how wet you already were and how long youâd been teasing and sucking his cock.
âFuck, I could cum down your pretty âlil throat and then make you work for my cock. Drag your punishment out even longer than your viewers would see.â You moan around his cock in response and Seungcheol can only take it as a whiny ânoâ before heâs pulling you off of him by the hair; soft sputters and coughs spilling from your wet lips as you catch your breath.
âBut I think youâve earned your orgasm, hmm? What do you say, princess?â
Your throat feels hoarse and your body feel obscenely hot at the way Seungcheol doesnât seem to want to take off your restraints just yet. âY-yes, daddy I--I want to c-cum⌠pl--please.â
tangerine_kwan: ahhh shes so cute
tangerine_kwan: petition for baby pink ties next time i think they suit her
sleepy_wonu: if that shibari show is happening, yes
âWeâll talk about it later, although I donât think sheâll be opposed to it~â You furrow your brows; wondering what Seungcheok was referring to.Â
Youâd ask later.
âD-daddyâŚ?â
Seungcheol tugs you slightly by your hair, urging you up as you slowly stand on shaky legs. You let him take the reins as he unties your arms and repositions you until youâre bent over the edge of the bed; left leg folded atop the bedsheets while your right leg keeps you upright. He keeps your blindfold on but lets you keep your arms loose; which you find out fairly quickly, is for good reason.
The buzzing of the vibrator makes you bite your bottom lip and soon enough, Seungcheol places the toy in your clammy hand.
âYouâre gonna slide your hand under your body and keep that vibrator pressed against your clit while I fuck you. And youâre not allowed to cum unless I say so. Am I understood, baby?â You feel Seungcheol teasing you as he slides his cock through your soaking folds before circling the tip around your entrance.
âI expect a response when I ask you a question, sweetheart.â
âY--yes, daddy, I--ah!â
Seungcheol grins as he slides his cock into your tight cunt; watching as you slowly sandwich your arm between your body and the bed sheets to place the vibrator against your clit. You cry out, a mess of sharp whines and jumbled words spilling off your lips with the combination of Seungcheolâs thrusts and the vibrations on your clit.
âNgh, d--daddy! Fuck me m-more!â
Your other hand digs into the sheets, fingers tight around the fabric as Seungcheol fucks you from behind. He knows your body like the back of his hand and he quickly already has you on the verge of an orgasm despite only having started fucking you, moments prior.
âDonât cum, princess~â Teasingly, he alternates from quick snaps of his hips that have his cock slamming into your g-spot to slow thrusts that have you remembering every groove and vein of his cock when he pulls out. And when he fucks you like this, itâs easy to forget the camera was even on and that people were watching; if not for the constant pinging of comments and donations that mix in with your moans, Seungcheolâs harsh breaths and the sound of the vibrator against your clit.
hoshi_tiger_xx: hmm but shes obv being punished and we all kno good girls dont get creampies
therealchan99: ur right,,, where should he cum then?
kitty_junjun: my votes on her tits
kitty_junjun has donated $75
sleepy_wonu: maybe all over her back and then post the pics in the private room
xcaliburDK: or raffle them!! I want them
chwenon: ooo cum in her mouth but dont let her swallow
chwenon: then u can raffle those pics or sth
Neither you nor Seungcheol are even paying attention to the comments that fly past on the screen and the only thing Seungcheol even turns slightly for, is to check to make sure heâs still properly out of frame.
He can already feel you tightening up around him and with the vibrator on your clit, he knows for a fact you wonât last much longer before youâre cumming.
âHmm, princess, I can feel you getting so tight around me. Bet you wanna cum already, huh?â
âD-daddy, I dunno, ah, how--how much longer I can h-hold offâŚâ You mumble; already feeling the tension in your body ready to snap at any second.
âBe a good girl. I said you earned your orgasm but you need to be patient.â You nod to the best of your ability; head feeling heavy and fuzzy as you try to stave off your orgasm for a little longer. âY--yes, daddyâŚâ He slows down his thrusts in order to help you a little and the soft praises that fall from his lips have the warmth blooming in your chest.
But it doesnât last long because despite Seungcheolâs valiant efforts, youâre already too close to cumming to stop yourself when you feel the pressure building up too fast.
âOh, d-daddy, I---I canât, I---I canât, I have, ah, to---to c-cum! Fuh--fuck, âm s--sorry!â
Seungcheol canât even manage a word in before he feels his cock being forced out of your pussy and the wetness that squirts all over his cock and lower half. Loud cries and whines are all you can manage in the thrums of pleasure and the grip you have on the vibrator only tightens as you grind against the toy to ride out your high.
Seungcheol takes the time to wrap a hand around his cock as he strokes himself; body turned halfway towards the laptop to see what everyone was saying.
hoshi_tiger_xx: uh ohhh pretty baby came without permission
hoshi_tiger_xx has donated $50
hoshi_tiger_xx: donation for squirting tho
alphagyu97: ugh look at her cute lil hole begging to be filled up
angelhan: bet sheâs feeling empty rn huh
Your soft mewls have Seungcheol turning back to face you; eyes trained on your twitching body when the pleasure starts to ebb away and the overstimulation from the vibrator starts to bite. âDaddy⌠the---the, mmh, toyâŚâ
âYou can turn it off, sweetheart.â His tone is clipped and you already know youâre in for it once you manage to find the switch on the silicone toy. You turn it off and slide your hand from underneath you; palms flat against the sheets as you sniffle.
âI--Iâm really s-sorry, I--I couldnât--â
âI want you on your knees again, princess.â
Nodding shakily, you ease your bent leg down as you maneuver yourself onto your knees; hands already searching for Seungcheol before you hear his small âah, ah, ahâs. Â âHands behind your back and tongue out, baby.â You follow his orders as you clasp your hands behind your back and diligently open your mouth and stick your tongue out as far as you can.
He brings his cock towards your face, tapping his cock head against your tongue before he starts to jerk himself off over your mouth and face. âI gotta hand it to you, princess. At least you apologized.â Seungcheol laughs under his breath, âBut next time though? I wonât even let you have my cock.â
You whimper in return, brows furrowed under the silk tie.
âFuck, âm gonna cum all over this pretty face.â His grip on his cock tightens and he thrusts into his palm quicker as he chases his high. âDonât worry. Iâll take pretty pictures of your cum stained face.â
Seungcheol groans as he feels the coil in his body snapping and not a second later do you feel warm rivulets of cum hitting your cheeks and your tongue. Some of it manages to catch on the silk tie as you moan. The donations and comments pour in like water as Seungcheol continues to cover your face in cum and for the umpteeth time, youâre reassured that this was a path that worked out for you.
It was so silly that youâd thought of quitting camming earlier.Â
Although, you never brought it up to Seungcheol.
In actuality, there were quite a few things that youâd never brought up to Seungcheol.
âFuckâŚâ He mutters from above you and itâs enough to bring you out of your thoughts as you hold still. Seungcheol takes the hint, using a sticky cum covered hand to reach for his phone to snap pictures of you; heâd just clean it up later.
âSay cheese~â He laughs, taking a couple photos before tossing his phone onto the bed as you draw your tongue back into your mouth and swallow down the warm salty substance that managed to hit your tongue.
Seungcheol helps you up from the floor, pouting when he sees how red your knees have gotten. âHmm, think I need to take care of my princess after this.â He helps take your blindfold off and youâre quick to blink the fogginess away as  you try to focus on Seungcheolâs face before peering over to the laptopâs screen.
Your cheeks burn hot at the cum that still stains your cheeks when you see  yourself but the comments that flood in calling you pretty make you giggle.
âOoookay. I think daddy is gonna get all cleaned up and Iâll wrap up here?â You check in with Seungcheol, who shoots you a nod and a small thumbs up before slinking completely out of the cameraâs view.
âOkay guys, now what were you all talking about while I was on my knees?â
You get out of the shower feeling refreshed; tossing on a loose shirt before skipping out of the bathroom.
Seungcheol is cozied up on the sofa, waiting on the food that the two of you had ordered right after you ended your show. ââCheollie~â He turns to you as you plop down next to him and heâs quick to wrap an arm around your shoulders as he tugs you into his side.
âFeeling better?â
âMmhmm~ A âlil sleepy but I can go for that food and then sleep.â
The two of you share a laugh, eyes focused on the movie that plays on the TV. âSayâŚâ You start, âSomeone asked a good question in the comments after you stepped out.â You gulp; palms a little clammy.
You just had to know.
âYeah? Was it about the shibari camshow again?â
âNo, actuallyâŚâ You take a deep breath, telling yourself itâd be okay regardless of what he said.
âSeungcheol, am I your girlfriend?â

Books, Boba, Bosom Buddies|Kim Namjoon x Reader
Summary: Kim Namjoon is the new hire at the library you work at. After the first clumsy run in you had with him your feelings for him develop over the months and you two painfully pine for each other.
Clumsiness is a trait that can usually be very hard to be considered an endearing trait, but somehow Kim Namjoon can change that. He doesnât have a careful bone in his large, muscular body (he has such a nice body, how can we ignore that?). You got a first hand experience of his clumsiness on the first day when he was hired at the library. Somehow he decided to fill the circulation cart with more books than it can handle by placing books on top of the already properly placed books. As you turned the corner, both of you guys were unexpecting to each otherâs presence. Namjoon was able to not only lose control of the cart to narrowly avoid hitting you, but also managed to dump the books all at your feet.Â
After getting over the initial scare of being almost run over by the cart, annoyance came over you. You started to collect all the books that were scattered on the floor and you tried your best not to let your scowl show. You knew he was new, but how can somebody be this reckless with shelving books. Working at a library should be peaceful and Kim Namjoon is uprooting any semblance of peace that should be there. He stooped down and started to help you organize the books while profusely spewing out apologies. You looked up at him and your frown softened when you saw his dimpled cheeks and honeyed skin. Your annoyance disappeared because how can anybody hold any form of negative emotion to someone that looks this alluring? He was eye candy on thick long legs that caught your eye when he squatted down. Once you were done ogling him you got around to accepting his apology.
âItâs okay, just try to not hit any of our patrons because they will not be nearly as helpful or as nice as I was in this situation.â You gave him a cheeky grin and made your way to the audio section to find a DVD that a customer placed an order for pickup. Little did you know that the effect Namjoon had on you was the same case for Namjoon. The smile you gave him left him flustered in his spot, almost in a daze. He knew he was going to think of your smile for the rest of his shift and he didnât need any distractions if he wanted to keep his job.Â
//////
A couple months later you and Namjoon have become bosom buddies. You could call him for anything and he could do the same. You guys had created a friendship that blossomed into mutual pining that neither of you were aware of. The not so subtle flirting (it was painfully obvious to your coworkers, but of course the both of you were undeniably blind to each otherâs advances) had ramped up as the weeks went on, but you still questioned if it could go any further. Jin, your other coworker at the library, was just as tired as you were from the blind romaticisizing. He always pushed you to ask Namjoon out, but you always disagreed by saying things like Namjoon was never interested in you and just thought of you as his best friend and nothing else. Jin always showed you evidence on how that wasnât the case, but you were too in denial that someone as attractive as Kim Namjoon would want to be more than just friends.
As your shift came to a close and you were done doing your last walk around to make sure everything was in order, Namjoon was there waiting for you at the front with flushed cheeks. He was rocking back and forth on the sides of your feet and you wanted to just pinch his cheeks at how cute he looked at this very moment. You turned off the lights and walked out with Namjoon by your side. The library closes at 7 pm, but Namjoon still insists on walking you to your car even though there is still enough sun out to not pose any threat to your safety. The chilvarous action makes your heart flutter regardless. Tonight he seemed to linger around a little longer before saying goodbye. You gave him a hug and as you stepped off the curb he gently grabbed your shoulder. You turned to face him and he was avoiding eye contact while anxiously scratching the back of his neck.
âY/N, there's a new boba shop that opened on the corner by my house. Would you like to go?â You now understood why he was acting so nervous and your heart was doing somersaults in your chest while Namjoonâs was probably beating like a hummingbirdâs wings.Â
âLike a date?â The words tumbled out of your mouth and you felt like an idiot. Of course this wasnât a date, he just is your best and thatâs all youâll ever be to him.â
âY-yeah it can be a date. Or not if you donât want it to be!â Oh. You werenât expecting that at all. You gave him a coy nod and opened the passenger side door for him to get in. The car ride was filled with tension that youâve never experienced before. This is what youâve been longing for and now that the time was here you didnât know how to react. Namjoon put the directions into the GPS on his phone and you made your way to the boba shop. The drive couldnât have been longer than 5 minutes, but it felt agonizingly slow from the awkward atmosphere.
Once you got to the store, Namjoon held the door open for you and the cashier gave the both of you a warm greeting. You decided on getting taro milk tea and Namjoon decided to get a hibiscus lemonade with fruity flavored popping boba. As you waited for your drink you made small chat with each other and started to make yourself more comfortable with each other. Itâs crazy that you guys go from being best friends that could tell each other anything to acting like awkward high school freshmen that have no idea how to deal with feelings.
You and Namjoon enjoyed your drinks outside to bask in the warm summer air while watching the last of the sunset. Namjoon was going on about his love for nature and it made you feel so endeared that someone could feel so passionate about the beauty of earth. You couldnât help yourself and cut him off mid sentence with a kiss. The boldness surprised not only him but you too. You pulled away and instantly regretted your decision when you saw his wide eyes.
âNamjoon, Iâm so sorry I donât know what came over me. If itâs weird we can totally forget this even happened and move on-â Namjoon gave you a warm smile and pecked your cheek with a gentle kiss. âI literally spent nights thinking about you kissing me. That was everything I dreamed of and more Y/N. I want us to be more and Iâve always wanted to be more.â Hearing his confession made you grin and you felt all your emotions come to the forefront, including your insecurities.
âIâm glad Namjoon, I want us to be more too, but before we go there. I just want you to know that I havenât dated anyone since my freshman year of college so Iâm probably a little rusty in the romance department.â You tried to brush off your embarrassment with a chuckle, but it didnât make you feel any better. Namjoon took your hands in his for comfort and scooted closer to you where your knees were touching. âY/N my first kiss was in my sophomore year and college and that was the last bit of romance Iâve ever experienced. We can teach and learn from each other since thatâs what love is all about.â Namjoon wrapped you up in his long arms and everything felt right and you were content that the pining between you two was finally done. The days you spent daydreaming about him has become reality.
Notes: It is 2 am and I wanted to write this grossly self indulgent drabble. This is unedted and Iâm so tired so please excuse any typos or grammatical errors I was inspired by me getting boba for three days straight. As always I appreciate any likes and reblogs. If you would like to support me further you donate to my Kofi

đFri 4 Dec â20 đ
Cooking competitions were fought, flower shops were opened, petitions were signed, and today was all in all a lovely, gentle sort of day!Â
Before last nightâs Variety show, real!Harry popped back on instagram to tell Kid Harpoon that the producer award he got was âFake Newsâ and to âStop the Countâ. Look if Harry wants to keep showing more personality on Instagram I WANT TO SEE IT! Then Varietyâs show aired, and Niall and Harry were âthereâ: Niall presented Lewis Capaldiâs âsongwriter of the yearâ award (in response to it, Lewis thanked the other songwriters for âbeing a worse songwriter than meâ), and Harry, of course, was the Hitmaker of the year! He was introduced by a lot of Big Industry People who all decided to say that they were, uh, so proud of him for leaving a boyband and becoming a rock star? Ah, good, that means itâs the âelitist music takesâ segment of the hour. When are people gonna realize that shitting on a really successful, record breaking band in order to say nice things about Harry (one of its members!) is not the compliment they think it is. Nick Kroll's longer intro was at least more interesting, sharing some DWD set moments, confirmed that Harry is a âmanly manâ, and jokingly said that he and his wife and Harry have become a throuple (ANOTHER threesome? Really Harry?). Harry then showed up, looking pretty tired (heâs been doing very long hours, guys!) and wearing his dick banana necklace, and said, âThanks to [my team] and everyone who supported me through it...thanks to the label for leaving me alone..this is...cool. Cool. Iâm gonna get back in the studioâ. Cool!Â
Anyways, that discourse was quickly overtaken by the revelation that Harry DID pay his touring crew back in the spring when his tour was postponed: it came from a local Belgian publication in Ghent, where a man named Yves Van Acker has opened a flower shop (yes I DO think that this sounds like the beginning of a fairy tale!). Anyways, Yves has toured with a number of famous bands over the years, Harry being most recent. âThe entire crew was suddenly out of work,â Yves said of Love On Tourâs crew, âBut Harry Styles did not want to leave us. Each member was therefore paid an amount. A nice gesture, on which I decided to do something positive with this latest incomeâ. A few things about this 1.) it was not just a nice gesture, itâs the Right Thing to DO! Heâs paying people for work he hired them to do! 2.) It's wonderful enough to see, in fact, that it really isn't actually necessary to inflate: the employee told us that he received an amount, clearly a decent amount (enough to open a business), but we do not know if he was given his full wages. It sure is amazing though! And 3.) he named bouquets of flowers after Harry songs! He has âAdore Youâ, âGoldenâ, âCanyon Moonâ, and âEver Since New Yorkâ, but not, shockingly enough, âSunflower Vol 6â - COME ON! Itâs RIGHT THERE! Anyways, I adore Harry and I want everyone to know that - he does always do his best to be kind.Â
Liam has a new COVER out, and one of my favorite songs: âWaiting on the World to Changeâ by John Mayer! The cover is for UNICEF Changemaker, and Liam says that heâs âproud to support them in any way I canâ. Okay Iâm a NERD so Iâm about to rant about how this was the PERFECT song for Liam. The first is his RANGE: he gave the song a really gravelly, soulful sound that it deserves, and his falsettos are SO GOOD that he hits the high notes EASILY. The second are the LYRICS of the song! Literally: âIt's hard to beat the system when we're standing at a distanceâ and âand when you trust your television, what you get is what you got; âcause when they own the information, they can bend it all they wantâ. UGH CHILLS! But that was NOT ALL for Liam, who made a guest appearance on Abby Robertâs YouTube channel in a cook off competition! They made roasted potatoes and Yule Logs (weird combo but okay), and chatted about Christmas traditions a bit. Liam said that he actually DOES do quite a bit of cooking on Christmas because he liked to watch the âteaâ go down but not be a part of it (Liam do you read this blog? Was that a hint??). Anyways, he also said that he spends every Christmas with his son, because âChristmas is about kidsâ (Abby Roberts did a HARD eye roll it was very funny), he put out a fire (firefighter!Liam), and he dropped a boiled potato and lots of powdered sugar. Liam won for his potatoes and Abby won for the Yule Log, and *I* got really hungry. âDonât set your kitchens on fire,â Liam warns cheerily at the end of the video. Yeahhhh, thanks for that! And now for Liamâs short but lovely content: his alarm this morning said, âItâs that Friday feelingâ and then he and Roman talked about their holiday plans - Liam with his fam, Roman with his booze and Karaoke (âIâll be doing strip that down in front of my mumâ. Yeah, cuz thatâs not weird at all), and they FINALLY released their bedtime story - Itâs twenty minutes long and itâs called âBedtime Bromanceâ (canât wait to hear it!). He also posted an Instagram story of himself in a recording studio in Stockholm singing âLast First Kissâ. âBack to Where it All Started,â the caption read. :{)Â
And now for Niall and Louis, both of whom are taking up some social issues! Sam Fender (who got into a bit of hot water yesterday for, uh, a joke about Louisâ fans and our key smashing tendencies alkdjfladj) called on the UK-based âTomlinatorsâ (lmao no <3) to sign a petition which requires local governments to have free helplines for the homeless and vulnerable. And, of course, fans got right on that and helped Sam reach his goal! Oh, wait, no, that DIDNâT happen - instead, fans jumped down his throat for, uh, clout chasing?? And they told him that he couldnât get away with mocking us and expect us to HELP him!! YEAH GUYS! How DARE he try to use his influence to make a difference?? Anyways, Louis was clearly super mad, you could tell by how he liked the tweet, retweeted the petition, and then said, âVery important cause. If youâre a UK resident please sign!â. As of right now, the petition sits at 10,000 out of 100,000 signatures needed, so. Letâs get it done! Niall is also going to do some community work: he will be at Comhairle Na Nogâs meeting ( itâs an Irish child and youth councils in Ireland) on Saturday giving a shout out to the kids who have been working on projects and in their community despite lockdown. Awww, best of luck to both of them in their very worthy causes.
#harry styles#liam payne#louis tomlinson#niall horan#wow#busy day no thots empty head#anyways!#song of the day!#Waiting on the World to Change by John Mayer but make it Liam's cover!!#guys it REALLY was gorgeous!!

Lover - Willex
Pairing: Alex Mercer/Willie Word Count: 2412 Based on Taylor Swiftâs song âLover.â Read on AO3
We could leave the Christmas lights up 'til January
And this is our place, we make the rules
And there's a dazzling haze, a mysterious way about you dear
Have I known you 20 seconds or 20 years?
It all happened so fast. One minute, Alex was walking down Sunset Boulevard, clearing his head, and the next minute he was getting run over by a gorgeous boy on a skateboard. He wanted to be mad, he really did, but when the boy started talking, all anger dissolved. The skater was charming and dorky and was able to convince Alex to follow him after exchanging only a few words.Â
Willie guided Alex to his favorite spot on Sunset Boulevard -- a simple bench that was âthe best place to people-watchâ as the skater had said. People in weird furry costumes and outfits of dead celebrities walked by, but Alex only had eyes for Willie. The brunette talked about everything that popped into his head, and none of it seemed to have a coherent flow. He mentioned his favorite places to skate, random facts about the ocean, and weird ways different famous people died. The blonde talked about his friends, the band, and the one time they ate street dogs that were so bad, they had food poisoning for three days.
âReggie was convinced we were going to die,â Alex had told Willie, causing the other boy to burst into a fit of giggles that sounded like music to Alexâs ears.Â
The drummer didnât say much after that; he was content with listening to Willieâs voice and all of the stories that fell from his lips. He loved watching the way Willieâs eyes sparkled when something he was talking about reminded him of another topic, and it amazed Alex that the boy knew so much about everything. Â
There was a lull in the conversation as the sun started to set, painting the sky in beautiful shades of purples and pinks and oranges. Willie was watching the sky but Alex was watching Willie. There was a dazzling glow around the boy that made him look ethereal. A small gust of wind blew through the street, causing Willieâs long hair to float gracefully around him. Alexâs breath caught in his throat and he tried to take it all in. He wanted to replay this moment in his mind over and over again for as long as he could remember it.Â
There was suddenly a small, sharp pain in his chest; a sign of his anxiety taking over. He tried to push it down, push it away. His instincts told him to run, this is happening too fast, but his heart told him to keep his feet planted firmly to the ground. He had never felt so smitten about someone so quickly before and it was the most exciting yet terrifying thing he had ever felt.Â
Even though they had been talking for only a few hours, Alex felt like he had known the skater his entire life. It felt like they were childhood friends, talking about everything and nothing at the same time. But Alex knew there was still so much to learn, and his heart ached for so much more.Â
As the sky grew dark, Willieâs gaze floated back to him. Alex quickly looked away, focusing his attention on the fairylights on building awnings and edging that had created an intimate glow around them. If Willie had caught him staring, he didnât say anything, and Alex appreciated that.Â
âI love leaving the Christmas lights up until January,â Willie said suddenly, causing Alexâs eyes to snap back to the boy that was beautifully sculpted under the soft light.
âHmm?â Alex hummed, hoping Willie would continue.
Willie gestured to the fairylights above them. âI didnât get to experience a lot of proper Christmases growing up,â Willie said quietly, as if talking too loudly would shatter the tension that had grown around them. âI want to experience Christmas for as long as possible. So I try to leave the lights and decorations up for as long as Caleb will let me, which is usually in January.âÂ
The question was on the tip of Alexâs tongue -- Whoâs this mysterious Caleb?Â
But he stayed silent, nodding to acknowledge Willieâs words. He knew Willie would tell him if he asked, but he needed something to look forward to when they talked again. If they talked again.
Willie opened his mouth to speak again but the sound of smooth jazz interrupted him. The brunette pulled his phone out of his pocket and sighed. He ignored the call but stood up from the bench, slipping the phone back into his pocket and placing the helmet back on his head.Â
âIt was really nice to meet you, but unfortunately I have to go. Iâll catch ya later, Hotdog,â Willie smirked, letting his board drop to the ground.
Can I go where you go?
Can we always be this close forever and ever?
And ah, take me out, and take me home
You're my, my, my, my
Lover
Alex wanted to run after him, wanted to follow him home. He immediately missed Willieâs warmth and light and yearned to be by his side again. He rewatched the entire afternoon in his mind like a movie, and by the time he made it back to the studio, his cheeks hurt from smiling so much. Julie and Flynn begged him to tell them everything, while Luke, Reggie, and Bobby teased him mercilessly. But he didnât tell him any details and ignored the overdramatic swooning and kissy faces, refusing to let them ruin one of the best days of his life.
We could let our friends crash in the living room
This is our place, we make the call
And I'm highly suspicious that everyone who sees you wants you
I've loved you three summers now, honey, but I want 'em all
The next three years were the most difficult and exhilarating years in Alexâs life. While his relationship with Willie grew wonderfully, along with the bandâs success, his relationship with his parents fell apart. As soon as he graduated, he packed his bags and found the cheapest apartment he could. He took the first job that would hire him and tried to support himself as best he could. The Molinas offered to take him in but he didnât want to burden them. The band suffered as they tried to find a way to rehearse around everyoneâs work schedule. Alex could feel his life crumbling around him and he found it harder and harder to wake up every day.
But then there was Willie. He was the light in the darkness and the glue that kept him together.Â
And when Willie suggested they move in together, Alex felt his heart stop.Â
âIâve been wanting to move out for awhile now and I already found a place that I can afford and itâs decent and I know this is like, a crazy huge step but --â
âYes.â
The word flew from his lips before he allowed his brain to catch up, over think, and lose his nerve. The large smile that grew on Willieâs face was all the confirmation he needed that he made the right decision.Â
Willie convinced Alex to quit his shitty job and convinced Caleb to let the band play at the Hollywood Ghost Club whenever they werenât playing at other gigs. They were finally living the dream. Rehearsing and writing during the day and playing to large crowds almost every night.Â
After their sets at the club, they would just linger around the building, mingling and making connections with the Hollywood elite that could afford to be there. Alex would watch Willie work, flitting from table to table and chatting up anyone who would look in his direction. It was amazing to watch him go from a dorky skater boy that couldnât even finish a complete story without switching to a new topic, to a super charming and eloquent figure that never failed to convince a guest to give a very generous donation to the club.Â
Alex was also pretty sure that half of the crowd was just as besotted with Willie as he was. But he knew he didnât have to be jealous of anyone in the room. He knew he had Willieâs entire heart, just as Willie had his. And at the end of the night, he would be the one that would be holding Willieâs hand, and kissing Willieâs lips, and laying next to him in bed.
And if their friends got a little too drunk to drive home, he would be the one to help Willie carry them back to their apartment. He would be the one helping Willie rearrange the living room so that their friends had a place to sleep. He would be the one thanking him for being the best boyfriend anyone could ever ask for.Â
Can I go where you go?
Can we always be this close forever and ever?
And ah, take me out, and take me home (forever and ever)
You're my, my, my, my
Lover
Ladies and gentlemen, will you please stand?
With every guitar string scar on my hand
I take this magnetic force of a man to be my lover
My heart's been borrowed and yours has been blue
All's well that ends well to end up with you
Swear to be overdramatic and true to my lover
And you'll save all your dirtiest jokes for me
And at every table, I'll save you a seat, lover
That same night, Alex was lying against Willie on the couch, playing with the skaterâs rough, yet surprisingly soft fingers. Their friends were asleep, sprawled out everywhere on the living room floor, and Alex wished he could just freeze time and just stay in this moment forever. He was surrounded by his love and support and he couldnât imagine anything better than this. Not until Willie whispered those words.
âHave you ever thought about marriage?âÂ
Alex sucked in a breath and his fingers were still against Willieâs. Had Alex thought about marriage?Â
All the time.
Ever since they moved in together two years prior. But he always thought that it was too big of a thought; too obsessive. He didnât want to scare Willie by moving too fast, even if they were just flashing ideas in his mind. He didnât want Willie to leave him because he was too dependent, too attached to their relationship, too--
Alex realized how silent he had been and tried to scrounge up words so that Willie didnât think he was freaked out, even if he kinda was.
But Willie didnât seem to be bothered by Alexâs silence. Because Willie knew Alex so well. He knew exactly how Alex would react if he were to ask that kind of question. Willie continued, âIâve thought about it a lot, recently. Iâve thought about us and this thing weâre doing. I donât know all the details or anything, but I do know one thing for sure,â Willie paused and Alex looked up at him, waiting for the deep sentiment the boy was about to share. âLuke would definitely be the flower girl.â
This threw Alex into a fit of giggles and Willieâs smile was radiant. âI think Ruby would fight Luke for that position,â Alex said through his laughter.
At the mention of his sister, he sobered up. He had no doubt Ruby would absolutely want to be a part of his wedding; she would probably want to plan everything herself. He just hoped his parents would want to be there as well. Even if they didnât agree with it, heâd hope they would at least care enough to see him happy. Thinking about how he would tell his parents and how they would react, his thoughts started to spiral once again.
It was as if Willie could sense his anxiety rising. He laced his fingers with Alexâs and squeezed reassuringly.Â
Alex could feel Willieâs chest rumble as he spoke again. âWeâre not gonna have a traditional wedding though. Those are too boring. Maybe weâll do something crazy like have all the girls be groomsman and all the guys be bridesmaids. Or however itâll work for us.â Alex didnât really know either, but nodded in agreement. âAnd no traditional vows. We gotta get creative. Like, I dunno. âI, Wilhelm Covington the Third,ââ
âWillie, your first name isnât Wilhem and youâre definitely not a âthird,ââ Alex chuckled, grinning up at his boyfriend.
âShush, thatâs what makes it creative. Now where was I? Oh yeah,
âI, Wilhelm Covington the Third, with all the skateboard scars on my hand, take this magnetic force of a man,ââ Willie paused, and Alex could practically see the smoke coming out of his ears as he tried to think of something funny. When that famous smirk crossed his features, Alex was ready to cringe. ââI take this magnetic force of a man, Hotdog, to be my husband. Through cracked helmets and bad street dogs, and even when weâre ghosts.ââ
Alex rolled his eyes but his smile only grew wider. He decided to play along, âand I promise to be super over-dramatic and constantly swooning over you.âÂ
âAnd youâll save all your worst jokes for me. I want your lamest and dirtiest and cringiest jokes,â Willie added.
Alex nodded in agreement, trying to think of other funny vows. But the more he thought about it, the more everything was sinking in. Willie continued to ramble about silly vows and untraditional wedding things they could do. But all Alex could think about was the fact that Willie wanted to marry him.Â
Willie wanted to marry him.Â
He wanted to be Alexâs husband. He wanted to be Alexâs forever. No matter what life threw their way, Willie wanted to be by Alexâs side. He wanted to go everywhere and do everything with Alex. Through sickness, health, and everything in between.Â
Alex looked back up at Willie and pushed himself up to interrupt his boyfriend with a gentle kiss to the lips.Â
âYes,â Alex whispered, his heart pounding and anxiety -- no, excitement -- filling his chest.
âYes?â
âYes, Iâll marry you.â
Can I go where you go?
Can we always be this close forever and ever?
And ah, take me out, and take me home (forever and ever)
You're my, my, my, my
Oh, you're my, my, my, my
Darling, you're my, my, my, my
Lover

Expanding into my other Fandoms (Iâm gonna have to take a stance) Read the whole thing please.
One of my oldest and most beloved anime is Inuyasha. As of late I have been binged watching the hell out of it as I am getting my BFF into different anime shows. We are really close to entering the Yashahime part of the series, and she asked if I planned to write fanfiction involving the one character which made me even watch the show as a 10-year-old.
Sesshomaru
The first episode I ever watched involved this aloof, entitled dog fighting his brother over the sword in their fatherâs grave. Specifically, it was part 3 of that whole episode series were Kagome pulled out the sword. I at the time had 3 dogs of German Sheppard/wolf hybrid, they were MASSIVE dogs, fell in love with the big white fluff that was Sesshomaruâs demon form. I use to sneak staying up and watch the show faithfully to see the goodest boy as it was only on at 11pm EST on adult swim. Which meant it was bad and I was breaking the rules, I felt like a rebel.
Now I hesitated answering that question. She has no idea of what is in Yashahime, she is being careful not to spoil it so I told her I didnât know. Recently, to find out what the feel is for Sesshomaru content, I looked into the tag on tumblrâŚ
OH MY GOD.
Sesshomaruâs tag is FLOODED with hate. Like every four post, there is hate, distain, and attacking happening. As someone who watches Yashahime, I quickly knew why.
Sessrin.
Even now I sigh. And I sigh HARD. I am not for, nor am I against the Sessrin train. Same for the Sesskagu train. I think both sides need to look at things on a logical prospective. I plan to do just that. I know I will get hate from the either side and maybe some support as well. But if I am going to do anything in this fandom (as I like doing ships and reader inserts) it will come up.
So, like my Kaiba post, and my Sebastian Heel post, I will use my research skills as well as my COLLEGE DEGREE WHICH HAS BOTH ART AND MEDIEVAL HISTORY labelled on it to explain why this progression in the story is normal to anti-Sessrin fans and why this isnât a crime by story standards nor should we look at it as a crime.
AS WELL
Explain to Sessrin fans why it is so weird for non-shippers to see it play out and why so much hate formed.
As I let out another sigh, we shall begin. Letâs start at an historical prospective. (Links at the bottom).
PLEASE READ THE WHOLE THING! IâLL BE ABLE TO TELL!
~~
I will start with the information I can access right away.
While finding charts on the life-span of common folk in 1590âs Feudal Japan is rather difficult, Ancient.edu states that the average lifespan was about 50. To put this in perspective, the average lifespan of Europeans at the time was somewhere between 40-45 with the latter being rare. Since most of us reading are not from Japanese descent, I will through Europe in this first.
If we look at the same time frame of 1590, we are looking at most of Western Europe had now entered the age of Renaissance. According to sources from Learning Resources in association with the National Gallery of Art, marriage was not what TV dramaâs from HBO or Hulu depicted. By today standards they would be a crime, as the average age for marriage of an adult female was age 14âŚ
The reasoning behind the young marriage age had multiple factors. First being, females were considered an adult once they were menstruating. Birthing also proved to be fatal, and since the lifespan was at best 40 and 45 if they were lucky, there was really no room to wait. Also Europe at the time had became hugely focused on making sure blood lines were legitimate, meaning to ensure the girl was a virgin, the moment she was able to reproduced she was married off. Those they married were not young teenagers either. Most marriages, a man would be in their thirties, and had probably multiple wives as women died more than men when not counting the battle field.
To make matters worse for the Renaissance Lady, these marriages would leave many young males unable to marry and if their husband died in battle, well, unfortunately they were not seen as desirable. This was due to the idea of a âfree womanâ. Should the girl not have a father, brother or uncle to return to as they too died, a widow had her freedom. But that freedom came at a cost. She would be assumed to have slept around, and in many writings, such as the Canterbury Tales, where Geoffrey Chaucer writes about a Window on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land survived her five husbands and the men in her family. In short, she was made to be a slut and to be looked down upon as no man controlled her.
The point of talking about Europe is because that is something most of us Non-Asian or Japanese people consume and like to paint in large romantic brush strokes of knights and magic. Honestly, reading G.R.R.Martin Song of Ice and Fire, he uses this model as we see the Queen of Dragons, Danny start off at age thirteen shortly after she had her first menstruation. Â
Now letâs look at Feudal Japan.
As stated before, the lifespan was around 50 years. In some populations, this was even shorter. Nagaoka, Hirata, Yokota and Matsuâuraâs on demographic data at the Yuigahama-minami area in Kamakura, Japan and found both male and female remains that suggested life expectancy to have ended around age 24-25. This was largely due to living conditions and public health. In areas like these, it would make the most sense to marry and repopulate quickly as the expectancy of life was half the national average at the time.
To my frustration, I could not find a clear marriage age for Japanese women at the time of the edo period. HOWEVER, where there is a will there is a way. I took a look at famous Lords or Daimyoâs of the time. The average age of marriage of their wives was between 12-14. Much younger than I expected, but it made sense considering this is a time where war ran the show and marriage was strictly about political gain. One of these Daimyoâs was Masamune Date, who was also 13, but then as he got older took concubines who became considerably younger than him as he became older. The goal was to have as many children as possible for hires and for political marriages to gain power.
Now lets look at Inuyasha the MANGA
Lets get the manga timeline proper here. The whole adventure took place in 11 months, a month shy of Kagomeâs 16th birthday. Doing a few estimations, Rin would have travelled with Sesshomaru about 8-9 of those months. But before we get into the relationship, lets look at something the ANIME made a huge mistake with in the beginning and tried to fix as the story went on.
For some reason I could only fine gifs for the Early appearances of Sesshomaru so bear with me.
Early appearances in the manga
^ He was so fickle and a trickster then...
Now early apperances in the anime.
Later appearance in the manga
Laster appearance in the anime
Notice the issue here?Â
Sesshomaru was CONSIDERABLY younger looking in the start of the manga. In the anime, he started off looking like an fully adult male. But as the anime went on, they tried to make Sesshomaru look younger with subtle changes to his jaw line, eye size, and his height. Yeah, his height had changed. They made him shorter.
While in the manga, we see this young-teen looking demon, slowly mature over 11 months to look like he is in his later teens and by series end, closer to being in his late teens or twenty. Yes, art changes over time, but the anime went a reverse route. I can only guess they spoke to the author of Inuyasha about her ships, as they did Drama CDs, and realized the mistake that was made in making him more mature than he was.
You canât tell me he doesnât look closer to his manga self in the final act, because he does.
Since we are on the topic of the anime, lets be clear. The anime timeline and manga timeline are very different. The story in the anime (in the English) suggests that OVER a year has past since Kagome started her journey. They try to fix this in the final act, but it was still so muddled as previous seasons are to be taken as cannon. This could have been due to an translation error in the early production when the anime no longer had anymore manga material to reference. But whatever the case, for English viewers the time the group spent together felt much longer.
So now we come to the heart of the issue.
Because of the mistakes of the anime, a lot of anti-sessrin see the relationship as father daughter. Iâll be honest, watching the anime and solely the anime as a teenager and as an adult (as the manga was on hold for a very long time due to authorâs health. I was in college when it finished.), I too thought it was just a father-daughter relationship and Jaken the nanny who got punched all the time. In fact, the English took hard liberties with Kagura, as the English dubs often do with characters, and made it very clear her feelings for the demon lord and Sesshomaru very much recognized them (though he never responded). Even in her death scene, it felt as if he was saying good bye to a friend more than love interest. But who really knows, as there are things that point otherwise. When another demon mockâs Kaguraâs death, Sesshomaru gets super pissy.
The manga did also play with this fact when it came out in English, idk if the wording or message is different in the Japanese. Translation errors happen a lot even in todays releases, look at Kuroshitsuji. So of course most anti-sessrinâs did not see this coming in Yashahime when Rin was named mother. In fact it felt like a betrayal as we were sure Sesshomaru had no romantic feelings.
Then there was the Kohaku/Rin mashup that was hinted left and right. The English anime, with its overly dramatic and blunt emotions made it appear one way. That in the end the two kids would probably be married. Then the anime as a whole made Sesshomaru older than intended. I can see why and understand how this became a problem.
On the other side of that coin.
If you followed the dub, seen âSwords of an Honorable Rulerâ and read the manga⌠Sesshomaru was not fatherly to Rin at all. In fact, Jaken picked up all of that leg work. Rin worried for Kohaku, but clearly loved Lord Sesshomaru. Sesshomaru cared about Kagura but he almost CRIED when he lost Rin.
We have to remember that Sesshomaru and Rinâs relationship must have been very hard for the demon. While we never see his mental process expect for a few rare times, we have to remember he hated humans. In the movie, he blamed a human for the early death of his father, Sesshomaru killed without mercy. It made sense that he wouldnât be fatherly to Rin as her just being there should have caused countless inner conflicts. Hell, he even says his fatherâs weakness was humans, and look who picked up that trait.
Sesshomaru was designed to, someday, walk in his fatherâs footsteps. So sess/rin, not a surprise. Also when you see it in a historical perspective, Rin having kids around age 15-16, makes sense. In fact you could argue he waited too long for the time period.
We also need to look more at the manga when concerned with Yashahime. 8-9 months is all Rin travelled with him and he was like hold up, and left her at the village because he KNEW she needed to come to her own conclusion. That no matter what she picked he would live with and protect her. Unconditional love on his end. She cannon wise spent YEARS living with humans and MONTHS with Sesshomaru. Again, by manga standards of cannon.
Now I can already hear the screaming about age and what not. Some sources say Sesshomaru is over 900, by the rule of thumb, if we look at anime and movie releases, we have Sesshomaru being over 500 with no define age and Inuyasha around 270 years old being more pinpointed due to the movie. Just by going by ANIME CANNON. Kagome and Inuyasha, you have a 15 year old with a 270 year old man. If you say being pinned to the tree doesnât count, then you have 220.
Also, here is something very interesting. In the episode where Inuyasha meets the unmother, he tells her, thinking it was his mom, she died when he was very small and we have flash backs later in the series of him being small running from demons. Demons clearly age much slower than humans, even half-demons. Inuyasha can be 270 but mentally and physically be 15, the same logic works for Sesshomaru, who in the manga is not much older than Inuyasha.
In the manga, there wasnât any grooming, in the anime, there was a ton of mess-ups but no grooming.
Would this fly in todays world? HELL NO! NO, its gross, sheâs a kid. Stop.
I know any fanfic I write will lean heavily on the side of father/daughter because that is what I grew up seeing on the screen. I canât think of Rin as an adult because years of seeing her as a cheerful little girl. Itâs like seeing G.O.T Arya about to have sex for the first time in season 8⌠I remember when she was a kid on the show. It was way to weird and I had to look away until it ended. But thatâs my 2021 mentality.
But Inuyasha is not taking place in 2021. Feudal Japan is a whole other era with its own beliefs, morals and way of life. Those who understand this have nothing wrong with them. They just understand history.
Also, just to bang some nails inâŚ
Anyone remember Bleach? Remember the MOST accepted couple was Ichigo and RukiaâŚ. Rukia who was hundreds of years old and Ichigo who was 15⌠or Ichigoâs mom who was a teenager and his dad also hundreds of years old.
Most of this also boils down to Sesshomaru being a dude. As in reverse roles in animes its accepted and they donât have the same historical context. Inuyasha is based off of historical context of Feudal Japan.
We need to stop spreading hate. We canât accept some forms of literature because its European fantasy but bash other fantasy based literature for doing the same thing.
Sure, its weird for those who were use to seeing the father/daughter dynamic. Yes, there are extreme sessrin fans who post really questionable illegal content when they decide to leave Rin as an 8-year-oldâŚ
But this wasnât ever meant to be perverted. The story was meant to make sense on a logical and historical base.
I hope everyone takes the time to read this. I love Inuyasha, I love Sesshomaru. I am just sick of seeing so many people fighting over what should be the revival of a beloved series. While yes, there is still room for sess/rin not being a thing, until it is stated otherwise, why hate each other? This fandom will only lose people by doing this. Calling people names or accusing them of illegal endorsement can hurt someone these days over social media.
Tumblr allows you to block tags. You donât have to read anything or watch anything you donât like. We gain nothing from attacking each other but can lose so much by doing so. Fanart, really good fan fiction, friends, ideas, sharing fond memories. Both sides have the right to feel as they feel, but no right in hurting each other.
A fandom is meant to bring people together. Not start a warâŚ
Thank you.
