Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2024 'Peach Fuzz'
The gentle, pinkish-orange hue was chosen to reflect a collective desire for respite
A soft, pinkish-orange hue called “Peach Fuzz” is Pantone’s pick for the 2024 color of the year, the company announced last week.
Officially called “Pantone 13-1023 Peach Fuzz,” the color is “velvety,” “gentle” and “subtly sensual,” according to the design and color authority.
Pantone is best known for its color-matching system, created in the 1960s, that numbers and organizes hues with a distinct chip format. The company also runs the Pantone Color Institute, which selects the color of the year and conducts color trend forecasting research.
This year’s choice “echoes our innate yearning for closeness and connection,” says Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, in a statement.
“We chose a color radiant with warmth and modern elegance,” she adds. “A shade that resonates with compassion, offers a tactile embrace and effortlessly bridges the youthful with the timeless.”
Peach Fuzz is Pantone’s 25th color of the year. The annual announcements began in 1999 to “engage the design community and color enthusiasts around the world in a conversation around color,” per a statement from Laurie Pressman, the Pantone Color Institute’s vice president.
Every year, a team of color experts examines movies, art, fashion, design, travel destinations, technologies and more to figure out which colors are influencing the world in the current moment. They also use forecasting tools, color psychology research and other sources to predict upcoming trends. From all that research, they narrow down the options to just one color that they feel sets the tone for the year ahead.
Peach Fuzz is less bold than last year’s choice, a bright, pink-red shade called “Viva Magenta.” But the world felt different in 2023, when Pantone “celebrated coming out of the malaise of the last year,” as Eiseman tells CNN’s Leah Dolan. Viva Magenta was intended to evoke verve, power and grace as the world emerged from the pandemic and continued to grapple with social unrest, as NPR’s Rachel Treisman wrote last year.
Heading into 2024, however, Peach Fuzz “arrives at a dark time amid a tumultuous war and a tense election year,” as Angelica Villa writes for ARTnews. The more muted hue is meant to reflect the “need for some quiet, some peace, some respite,” Eiseman tells CNN.
Where will Peach Fuzz show up in 2024? Rugs, wallpaper, fabric, makeup, tea and more—which are all examples of products released in conjunction with Pantone’s announcement. The color is already showing up in fashion, with celebrities like Taylor Swift and the Rock wearing Peach Fuzz to various events, notes USA Today’s Emily DeLetter.
“It feels like another rediscovered neutral that’s meant to seep its way into every surface of our lives,” said Jeremy Allen, the art director for the New York Times Styles Desk, in a conversation with colleagues.

La chanteuse a interprété son premier single "Somewhere Over the Rainbow/My Destiny" le 27 juin 2006.

Eric Gale – Forecast
One of the most successful albums ever from guitarist Eric Gale – a laidback understated player whose mellow sound had a tremendous influence on mainstream jazz funk in the 70s! The album takes off from the late 60s CTI and Verve sessions by Wes Montgomery – and features Gale riffing out chromatically over tightly woven arrangements by Bob James, who also plays keyboards on the set. There’s no standout funky numbers on the record, but it’s got a great conception overall – with lots of dreamy grooves that sound very nice! (Dusty Groove).
Eric Gale - guitar Bob James - keyboards Pepper Adams - baritone saxophone Bill Salter - bass George Ricci, Seymour Barab - cello Idris Muhammad - drums Hubert Laws - flute Ralph MacDonald - percussion Jerry Dodgion – tenor & alto saxophones George Marge – tenor saxophone, flute Alan Ralph, Garnett Brown, Tony Studd – trombone

Feature LP / John Fogerty - The Blue Ridge Rangers Rides Again (2009) / August 27, 2024 / 6pm ET
The Blue Ridge Rangers Rides Again is the eighth solo studio album by American roots rock singer-songwriter and guitarist John Fogerty, first released on September 1, 2009, on Fogerty’s own label, Fortunate Son Records and distributed by Verve Forecast Records. The apparent grammatical error in the title of the album (the verb should be conjugated ‘ride,’ not ‘rides’) is a play on the fact that…

Arthur Lee Porter Jr. (August 3, 1961 – November 23, 1996) was a jazz saxophonist. He was the son of jazz musician Art Porter Sr. and the namesake of “The Art Porter Bill”.
He was born in Little Rock. He joined his father’s band (The Art Porter Trio) as a drummer at the age of 9 and played with them into his teen years. He was drawn to the saxophone, after noticing its melodic abilities, and began to play it during shows with his father’s group. He is a graduate of Parkview Arts and Science Magnet High School in Little Rock, where he played in the marching and jazz bands. When he turned 16, he began to be barred from clubs because he was under 21. He was arrested and charged with working underage in a nightclub serving alcoholic beverages. Then Arkansas Attorney General, and future President of the United States Bill Clinton, who was a saxophonist, intervened to get the charges dropped and pushed for the law to be changed to allow underage musicians to appear in adult facilities as long as their legal guardians accompanied them. This law became known as “The Art Porter Bill”.
He attended Berklee College of Music and Northeastern Illinois University where he studied music, earning a BA in Arts in the latter. He attended Roosevelt University, where he would earn his MA. He studied piano under Ellis Marsalis, a former saxophonist himself.
He moved to Chicago and studied tenor saxophone with Von Freeman and performed with Pharoah Sanders and Jack McDuff. He developed an interest in R&B and hip-hop and merged elements of these into his performances. He signed with Verve Forecast Records and PolyGram and produced several albums, beginning in the summer of 1992 with Pocket City, followed by Straight to the Point, Undercover, and finally Lay Your Hands on Me. He and his father performed for President Clinton during his 1993 inauguration, playing Amazing Grace at a prayer breakfast. #africanhistory365 #africanexcellence
