Alef Aeronautics’ “Model A”

Alef’s electric Model A, priced at around $300,000, will be the only road-certified flying car that can do vertical takeoff and landings like electric-powered eVTOLs.

Besides its retro-futuristic look (thanks to Hirash Razaghi who has designed Jaguars and Bugattis) the Model A is different from other flying cars entering the market because of its ability to takeoff and land vertically, and then drive away.

Porsche & Boeing engagement

In the past we've seen #Porsche #coBrand or #collaborate on diverse products such as #Rimowa for #rugged, #lightweight #luggage, in 2008 for a #BondMovie they did the Fearless 28' with #Donzi, & from 2001 - 07 Porsche made a DOHC water-cooled V-twin for #Harley-Davidson for their iconic #2wheeled #axlefree #mobility. Now, together with #Boeing they're looking at #AirMobility for the #urban aka #verticaltakeoff & #verticallanding or #VTOL for a #premiummarket. While not a new idea - cities are either better prepared now for such transport - or in far greater need of it than ever.  Who hasn't wished for a #flyingcarpet or #flyingTaxi for #downtown use - since #parking is ALWAYS an issue, in addition to #urbanTraffic. Since #drones are now so accessible, a #flyingBathtub was spotted, and years ago, the #Moller #M400 #Skycar seemed promising. Of course the awkward & experimental #XFY #XFV and #Convair made ingress / egress interesting, let alone payload, while the #Harrier #JumpJet or may be informative while the Bell Boeing #V22 #Osprey shows not all VTOL must be fixed wing. One thing's for certain, in age when all the rage is #autonomousVehicles... or #AV (largely for the marketing value of the eyeballs/minds together in transit? - see the "Minority Report" movie with Cruise - AND the replacement of #DeliveryDrivers), we've enough trouble with privately piloted cars on surface streets. So the FAA and insurance co.'s will no doubt require any Boeing-Porsche product be piloted by, at the very least, a recreational pilot license holder. Perhaps #RollsRoyce will be next to partner with #HawkerSiddeley if #Tata deems it appropriate, it'd be a much anticipated proclamation.
