what is that thing and why did it come out of me: my experience as a first-time parent

i was thinking a bit about manticores being soo solitary that they barely even raise their kids. baby gets born tiny and premature, immediately goes into the pouch (they are marsupial), and emerges when its more or less ready to take on the world, oftentimes without the parent even noticing. but i think u would be pretty freaked out if you did notice
