for this tutorial im going to be using a screenshot from my liam WIP because i know you bitches foam at the mouth at the prospect of seeing a spoiler I'VE SEEN YOUR COMMENTS

here is the raw, unedited, naked version of the screenshot. i have the app's color settings to black for the pov character and gray for the chat person

here's where the pain begins: photoshop.

first i take care of the time and "delivered" text. i only leave the delivered text if it's important to the plot, otherwise i paint right over it. the time stays ONLY if the conversation just started. since the example screenshot is the continuation of a conversation, i paint over that too.

next comes everyone's burning question: what sorcery am i using to have the texts be colored in my blog theme color

screen mode, my friends.

first stop: the app UI. i've set a new blank photoshop layer with the "color" mode over the original photo; as you can see, you can do any color you want:

now comes the important part: when doing the texts, we switch from color mode to screen mode

and boom! now you have to repeat that for another 20 screenshots! yay!

if you're wondering, twitter screenshots are a little easier because i generally tend to color only the checkmarks and reply usernames. for example, here's the unedited vs edited screenshot from one of my charles smaus, once again using a color layer for the checkmarks/usernames and a screen layer for the tweet and arrow above:

so yeah that's how the magic happens, i hope this helped you understand why it takes 38478 years for me to put out anything 😭😭😭😭
