Lex raised a brow. "You weren't on watch? You can do whatever you want." In fact, Lex himself was busy figuring out how to whittle with aethersight. Jacke mentioned before he departed it would be good for him to pick up a hobby. That, and it would keep his mind busy on the long journey.

He turned back to his current challenge - an approximation of what should be a mushroom. "Go back to sleep. I'll keep watch, if that makes you more comfortable."

Getting word back to Eorzea of his adventure was something he actively tried to suppress. He didn't need the governments of Eorzea knowing he was meddling in succession rites of another continent. At best, he made sure they thought he was on vacation to Tural.

"I am doing my best." Lex sat down in an open chair and idly began massaging his thigh. "In truth, a bit of both. I enjoy spending time with you, but I have been noticing some issues with my legs again."

He sighed.

"I have a feeling it is from the immense amount of hiking I had to do while I was away. My nouliths could only assist so much." Truthfully, he felt horrid that they frequently had to slow down for him. "I'm hoping to avoid ingesting anything this time. Do you know of some bath additives that could assist this time? I was able to obtain a private hot spring for my home in Ishgard."

"Ah-- look who's walked into my clinic-" Stood, Naosont turns - lab coat draped 'pon his slender figure - eyes noting both company and their condition with immediate affect. It had been some time since he had seen Lex, plenty keeping the two busy, but he could not deny his relief at seeing him once more.

"Keeping yourself healthy on your grand adventures, I do hope-?" He did worry, that he wouldn't deny, and he took note of every printed newspaper to see if there was any mention of the great warrior. "Though I'm curious - are you here on a social visit or medical-?"

Lex shook as he guided his hands above Alisaie's skin, carefully watching for any anomalies in her aether. She was fine. She was fine! She was here, she was fine.

"Shut up and let me do this." The wavering in his voice undercut any threat he could have made. This hero, who could stare down even the darkest of gods with no fear, was but a newborn kit when it came to the safety of his family.

His ribs creaked with the effort of breathing deep. It didn't work. He needed her to be safe. He needed her to be okay. Pulling her into a hug, Lex pressed her face into his shoulder.

"Thank the Twelve you're safe."

Lex waved off the concern with a carefree smile. "The only way it is beyond my abilities is that I fear I may be a tad too strong. I used to hunt these when I was younger and practicing my magic. These days, though?" He shrugged. "I believe not even one actual shot would turn them into dust."

Actually, he wondered if even looking at them would scare them off.

"So, I am here merely to provide backup for you." With a snap of his fingers, a magic barrier erected itself around Erenville. "Nothing they can throw at you will break that. It's even powerful enough to stand up to a hit from a primal. You are safe. Of this I swear."

"Is that not what you are here for?" Lex laughs as he pops a cookie in his mouth. It wasn't just himself - Raha also had a habit of forgetting to eat when engrossed in tasks. Thus, the ever helpful Erenville kept his two errant scholars in line. "Thank you, truly. Did you make these yourself?"

Erenville slides a basket of treats to Lex. No words, but it seems he bought him several treats.

Lex gives a smile. "I am. To be honest, I usually attempt to pay but the barkeeps will not let me."

Few people knew about his past, but Erenville would be lucky in this instance. "Limsa Lominsa is my home. When I was..."

How old was he again?

"I was... fourteen summers or so when I saved the Victory. It was my first real 'heroic' act. Let me tell you, the alehouses were very excited when I came of age to drink. Including my father's. To this day, near every inn and restaurant refuses to accept my gil and it only gets worse the more famous I become." He laughs. "So, neither of our gil will be spent."

"I would have thought they'd be quite well documented already." Lex tilted his head as he munched on his sugary orange slice. "They're quite common and their legs do not sell for much at the market. I used to try selling them after practice but I'd get hardly anything for them. Maybe a single gil, five if I was particularly pitied."

Odd that now of all times Labrynthos wanted to study such a common creature.

"Well, I suppose work is work, yes?" He shrugged and popped another slice into his mouth. "The wisdom of eccentric researchers is beyond me."

Lex's situation was less payment and more they simply liked him a bit too much. Also, it's likely that if word got back that they made the Warrior of Light pay for a meal, they'd be out of work.

"Then let us be off!" Lex reaches out his hand to take. "The work day is done for now, and it is time to rest."

Lex offers even more orange slices. "Only five minutes? Surely you are given longer." Perhaps he should discuss the working conditions with someone in Sharylan...

"Come, let's go to the Drydocks. Drinks are on me."

Ah, megalocrabs. So nostalgic. He used to be terrified of these things. They were so big and loud and he only had a carbuncle to protect him. To think that now he had to stand back or they'd turn to evaporate with merely a look.

Lex sent out his nouliths to wrap shields around the other gleaners, just in case.

"You did well." From his endless pack, he fished out a small bag of candied oranges. "How far are we taking them?" he asked as he offered Erenville some.
