This girl's beauty is one that Klaus has not seen since he traveled south to Dorne in years past. But she does not seem Dornish, nor does she speak in the same manner as them. Not to mention the fact that his sister would never have a Dornish handmaiden. Klaus thinks every last one of the seven hells would freeze over before Cersei would ever do something like that.

"Ah, yes -- of course the Queen would know," he comments, finally letting go of her and giving a small shrug. "She keeps a very close eye on our brother, doesn't she?" Not that Klaus expects the girl to know much of Cersei's true nature; she seems far too naive from what he can tell. That will change in time, he's sure.

"Do me a favor, love." Hand comes to the gold lion around her neck...a gift from Cersei, he's certain. He uses the pendant as leverage to jerk her closer to him as he lowers his voice a bit. "Don't tell Cersei I've arrived. My sister and I don't exactly get along, and I'm sure you wouldn't want to upset her, would you?"

Katerina is not sure how she feels about this entire interaction that's happening her. He is clearly a nobleman, and he's telling her... she doesn't need to apologize for running into him carelessly? The way he has her shoulders is also sending mixed feelings through her. She isn't entirely sure why- but all she can think about while he's got her in his grasp is would the Queen approve of this?

The man's question doesn't quite sink in until he mentions Tyrion, it's then that all of his words finally sink in and pull her out of her head.

"Lord Tyrion?" Katerina blinked a few times and repeated the words 'little brother' seemingly to herself. Embarrassed now that she realized she's been staring and mumbling like a fool, Katerina's cheeks lit UP with a blush and she bit her lip before clearing her throat.

"Forgive me, my Lord," She bowed her head politely. "I am not aware of Lord Tyrions direct whereabouts, all I know is a few hours ago he was heading into town with his friend- I know not if he has returned or when he would. I am sure that the Queen would know better than I?" The queen knows everything in Katerina's little world.

I can't be the only one who's fallen in love with fanfics more than they've ever fallen in love with the original works. I don't know what it is about them, but there are certain fics, certain fan versions of characters, that just speak to me far more than their canon versions ever do.

The two prime examples for me are Arya Stark from A Wolf Amongst Lions and Luke Lars and Darth Vader from the Guides Verse. I really don't care that much for Arya Stark in canon, either book canon of show canon. They just feel too "i'm not like other girls" for me, and show Arya especially feels like she becomes way too r/iamverybadass. But Kallypso's version of Arya Stark . . . it just does something for me. I think she is probably my favorite character in any piece of fiction I've read, original or otherwise. And similarly, I've never been that invested in the character of Luke Skywalker in Star Wars, but Luke Lars in the Guides Verse just hits different.

So yeah. Couldn't tell you why, but where Martin and Lucas failed to really capture my attention, Kallypso and Jackdaw Kraai succeeded. I'm betting I'm not the only one with a story like this.

The moment Klaus senses the tension in Kai's body, his smile grows. There's something about having someone at the end of a blade that brings Klaus a rather troubling amount of joy and satisfaction. Perhaps he can attribute it to holding their life in his hands, or having complete control over them in that moment, but now is not the time to put too much thought into it.

Tyrion is attempting to push them apart, but he's drunk and short and it does barely anything when he shoves Klaus back. "You two need to be put in a ruddy cage to keep you separated," Tyrion says, and even though it makes Klaus laugh just a bit, he keeps his eyes on Kai.

"Or perhaps the Lord of Pinefort should remember that he is no longer in the North, and what he learned there just might put him in a grave." Despite his words, Klaus retracts his dagger and returns it to the back of his belt, finally looking at Tyrion, who is giving him an incredibly pointed look. Klaus sighs, and sits, sipping his wine again. "My dear little brother, always looking out for me."

"I do enjoy your company, though, Lord Anderson," Klaus adds. His voice is completely void of the warning and intimidation it held only moments ago. "And your spirit. I can see how you rose so quickly from nothing."

Before Kai's hand could reach the handle of his own blade tucked away at his side, he felt the COLD steel of Klaus's dig into his chin, freezing him in place. He hears the drag of Tyrion's chair as he stands up and the sound of wine spilling and dribbling onto the floor, but his gaze doesn't dare to leave Klaus. Kai is fairly intoxicated as well, but unfortunately it doesn't do much to dampen his tendency for anger.

With nostrils FLARED, he boldly wraps his hand around the hilt of the dagger as well as Klaus's hand. " Now...where I come from it's not wise to slay a guest in your home. Wrath of the gods and all that. " Kai's lips DANCE into a smirk as well, finally attempting to push the other's hand and the weapon away from his face. Not that he personally believed in any gods anymore. He left all and any faith of that sort behind a long time ago.

Have you heard of the term "patterns mills"? These are shopfronts that quickly produce a pattern without any sort of testing or vetting, and then put it on the market with an AI-generated or stolen image for a very tempting price. Patterns produced this way are rampant in the cross-stitching world. However, I've recently noticed an uptick in these types of storefronts in the quilting and foundation paper piecing world. Since I'm well versed in FPP patterns, I would like to describe what an AI-generated quilt pattern looks like as well as provide other suspicious giveaways. AI will only get better, so while these mistakes are dead giveaways now, they might be fixed in the future. FPP patterns seem to be easier to replicate in AI than traditionally pieced patterns, which is why I will focus on FPP in this blogpost. However, you can apply the same clues to any sort of craft pattern (or really anything) you can buy online. Important: AI-generated images are not prohibited on Etsy. However, within their policies they state that you must disclose if you used AI within your listing, and these shops do not have that disclosure.

Below is a listing for a wolf face FPP pattern. When you first look at it, does anything seem suspicious?

First, I would like to draw your attention to the scissors in the bottom left of the photo. These scissors are physically impossible to use and are literally melting into the yellow cutting mat. The lines of this cutting mat are unresolved, as are the lines on the green cutting mat in the bottom right corner. These are your first giveaways. However, not all images have background sewing items that look a little funny. Let's take a look at the actual "completed quilt."

The first thing I notice is that the only background seam line (from this apparently foundation paper pieced quilt) is the one in the top left corner. The seam is merely hinted at and does not go all the way to the edge. Additionally, I notice that the eye is too round. One could argue that the cover photo is merely an enhanced version of the completed quilt, but there are no completed quilt photos in the listing. Another clue for identifying AI generated quilt images is that there are a ton of colors/prints used. The prints in this image seem nebulous and the prints around the eye whiskers (?) lose a lot of fidelity. The individual fabrics themselves do not have consistency.

In the image above, the things I notice are that there are curved seams within the gray and white colors. A typical FPP pattern would not have curved piecing interspersed between regular straight seam piecing. Also, piecing lines that are useless, especially visible in the bluish-gray piece on the left. The amount of piecing within that patch does not make sense. Below you will see another listing from a different Etsy seller.

From afar, it looks really good. Plus, the seller has great reviews! And it's a Bestseller! But let us take a closer look…

The first thing that sticks out to me is how the whiskers of the lion are resolved. You can see where they fade into the muzzle of the lion without a realistic piecing line. Some of the patches are straight up "smeary" and wrinkly, a telltale sign of AI. The program does not know how to accurately render the design so it creates an approximation. These are things that are hard to see unless you zoom in. Below is a listing for a legitimate lion FPP pattern from designer Pride and Joy Quilting so you can see the difference. It is clear that the first image is an actual completed quilt top.

Beyond the AI-generated cover quilts, I'd also like to cover other signs of a pattern generated from a pattern mill.

For the lion pattern, the cost is only $8.63. This is very cheap for what is supposed to be a full sized quilt pattern with a multitude of templates.

Both of these sellers have very generic names. While not an immediate cause for concern, I recommend being skeptical.

There are no actual completed quilt images within the listing.

Both of them are considered "Bestsellers" on Etsy, but the shop with the wolf pattern only has 10 reviews. It makes me wonder about the disparity between "buyers" and reviewers.

The 5 star reviews for the lion pattern are extremely generic and talk only about "how much their friend Lisa will enjoy the pattern" or "how easy it was to download." These are not helpful for understanding the quality of the actual product. The 1 star reviews are way more descriptive about the issues the pattern has. This makes me wonder about fake reviews.

Both of these patterns include a full layout of the FPP diagram within the listing. I personally would never do this and I don't know many designers who would.

The lion pattern says this within its description: "Before making a purchase, we'd like to inform you about some important aspects. The product stands out for its template, design, and print quality, serving as a valuable tool for sewing projects. The instructions include two techniques: direct fabric marking (with visible stitches) and invisible stitches. Both are general guidelines and not step-by-step instructions. You can choose these techniques or any other that you consider suitable based on your experience and preference. There are no refunds for the digital file. We appreciate your understanding and are available for any questions." This demonstrates to me that the pictures are not accurate because they are clearly attempting to depict FPP and are hoping that you won't read the description until it is too late.

Why is every lowercase i in the wolf pattern missing its dot? Like, why? I find that strange and off putting.

So, how do you avoid accidentally purchasing a pattern like this?

The first step is gaining experience in recognizing listings that seem a bit fishy. Use the bullet points listed above to see what kind of feeling you get when looking over a listing. I also recommend finding out more about the designer from their website or from their social media. Not all legitimate designers have these necessarily, but it's a great place to start. Try messaging the shop owner on Etsy. Does it sound like they know what they are even talking about? You'll then build a good list of designers and shops you trust. A big and worrisome thing to remember is that AI will only get better and produce better looking images. This will make it harder to identify pattern mills by the image alone. However, the clues that I've listed will help if you put them all together and come to a conclusion. I suggest using them for all your online shopping. I hope this helps!

The Golden Lions of Heaven

S2 has several prominent lion symbols in it, and at first watch they don’t appear to have anything to do with the main story line. But there are lions in both seasons, and they are all connected.

Lions are intrinsically linked with royalty, and are often called King of the Beasts or King of the Jungle. They also symbolize courage, nobility and strength.

Whenever lions appear in GO they are always coloured gold, which is associated with Heaven. Nearly all the angels have some bit of gold on them somewhere - unless they have just discorporated.

In Christian iconography Jesus is represented as a lion upon his return. When he was crucified he was a sacrificial lamb, but the Second Coming is a time when he returns to reign again. As a descendant of the royal house of David, it therefore seems quite logical to assign this symbol to the king of kings.

There is also this paragraph from the Medieval Bestiary:

“In Christian allegory, the three main natures of the lion each have a meaning. The lion erasing its tracks with its tail represents the way Jesus concealed his divinity, only revealing himself to his followers. The lion sleeping with its eyes open represents Jesus, physically dead after crucifixion, but still spiritually alive in his divine nature. The lion roaring over his dead cubs to bring them to life represents how God the father woke Jesus after three days in his tomb.”

There is also an often misquoted line “when the lion shall lie down with the lamb,” but it��s not that at all. The full verse is:

“The wolf shall live with the lamb, the leopard shall lie down with the kid, the calf and the lion and the fatling together, and a little child shall lead them.” [Isiah 11:6]

It is referring to a time of peace that should come once Jesus returns. Somehow I don't think we are going to get that in S3.

The Two Lions in the Dirty Donkey

There are two large golden lions sitting on the ends of the bar in the Dirty Donkey. Because one of the underlying themes in S2 is about the Second Coming, even if its not obvious until the end, its fairly easy then to interpret these two as being connected to this event. The Dirty Donkey itself can be seen in several ways: a simple donkey that needs a wash, or a black horse. Both are relevant to referencing Jesus. In the former, Jesus rode a donkey into Jerusalem the first time to signify he came in peace, but the second time he arrives will be like on the back of the black horse of a conqueror come to rule. One lion for each occurrence.

While there is some argument for Jim’s character in S2 re-creating parts of the life of Jesus from two thousand years ago, such as the cleansing of the temple and facing temptation from demons. I think we shouldn’t also forget that this is also Gabriel the Herald, and he was doing some ominous heralding of doom at various points in S2 that in hindsight we can see were warning us about the Second Coming. So this lion at the base of the lamp Jimbriel is playing with has to alert us to Jimbriel’s connection with Jesus. (I will probably revisit and add/rewrite this one in the future, I think there is a bit more to it)

The Lion Rampant on Aziraphale’s Ring

At the end of S2 we learn that Aziraphale has been manipulated into going back to Heaven to run the Second Coming by the Metatron. In hindsight, its hard to see how he wouldn't be involved, somehow. What is surprising, however, is that this expert in prophecy didn't see it coming - but then he didn't expect to see Jimbriel arriving either!

Usually the first thing we notice about Aziraphale's ring is the stylized lion rampant on the shield. We know it's definitely a lion because it upright - if it was down on all four paws it would be referred to as a leopard. The upright tail tells us its on guard.

There are more elements to the ring that also add to the story here, it's a much more complex ring than Michael's. The crown on the top is a symbol of victory and sovereignty, and also a connection to God, who considered the "King of all." On either side of the shield are two stylized sprigs of laurel, reinforcing a picture of triumph and fame.

Then there are a fringe of feathers, banded in sharp triangular spikes. Feathers signify willing obedience and serenity of mind in heraldry, so I would tend to lean towards the former. The triangles represent celestial rays, so they reinforce his obedience to the will of Heaven.

You might think, "well this makes sense, Aziraphale is a Principality, he's a protector, that's why there is a lion," but I think it more complicated than that. It tells us something about both the past and the future at the same time. The purpose of the rings remain a mystery to us at the moment, in that we don't know why some angels have them and others don't, or if they have any function. Aziraphale has a tendency to touch his when he is feeling troubled or worried (its easy to miss if you aren't paying attention,) so perhaps it helps to strengthen his connection to Heaven somehow, or is a reminder of his duties.

There is another connection Aziraphale has to a lion, and that is through his past status as a cherubim in the Job minisode in S2E2.

As pointed out in this post, the pattern is stylized to represent the four wings that Cherubim are said to have, with a pearl in the center for an eye. These Cherubim also have four faces: an ox, an eagle, a lion and a man. Well, we sort of get all of those with Aziraphale at some point in the wider story. And the angel set at the eastern gate of Eden with the flaming sword was supposed to be a Cherubim, too. Yes, Aziraphale changed rank from Cherubim to Principality, we just don't technically know whether it was a step up or down...

The Honolulu Roast Lion

There is a lion you don’t see in S2 – the lion logo for the Honolulu roast coffee, mentioned briefly on a blackboard in the background of a shot inside the coffee shop.

The islands of Hawaii were a kingdom up until 1893, when a commercial coup took them over and allowed them to be annexed by the US. You can read more about it here. While the op in that post relates it the Eldritch Ball in S2E5, it still connects a lion to royalty.

The lion at the beginning of S1E1

Right at the beginning we have a lion as well – a real live lion! After Adam and Eve leave the Garden of Eden they meet a big lion out on the dunes. As Aziraphale and Crowley watch and talk atop the walls of the Garden, Adam confronts the lion with the flaming sword Aziraphale gave him and eventually kills the lion before he walks away with Eve.

What are we to think of this? I've see one op suggest that it was Aziraphale "throwing them to the lions" as his first act. To me it seems more like Adam has just slain God instead to gain their freedom.

The Lions on Crowley’s “throne”

There are two lion heads on the arm rest of Crowley’s “throne” (I don’t know what else to call it, really) in his Mayfair flat in S1. If I understand correctly, this should first be viewed as a homage to the US show Supernatural, as this chair is the exact copy of the one the demon Crowley in that show sits in, only his one is black. But if I’m to look at it in terms of GO symbology, my brain keeps going [error 503: Server cannot process the request due to a system overload; should be a temporary condition...] because I can’t quite believe what its telling me. And I should, because I’m the one running around touting a list that is now 22 items long for why Crowley was once a very powerful archangel and written a batshit-crazy meta on King Arthur themes presenting in GO. So I’ll just present my quandary this way: There are lions, they are golden, of course, so they are connected to Heaven, and a symbol of royalty – but they are being used by a demon in a residence paid for by Hell…(too.much.gold...! what were they thinking?)

Well,   she   had   finally   done   it,   she   guesses.   Her   father   had   spoken   with   Willas   Tyrell   and   by   him,   to   Lady   Olenna,   who   had   been   watching   Elinor   with   a   watchful   stare.   The   young   rose   had   been   all   too   wild   and   her   betrothal   to   Alyn   Ambrose   seemed   to   have   come   to   an   end.   And   while   yes,   she   often   found   herself   in   courtly   flirtatious   activities   with   Lannister   guards,   she   never   dare   to   think   her   father   would   send   her   up   as   high   as   he   could   be.   "This   does   not   have   to   be   a   burden,   surely,   my   lord.   I   been   taught   by   Lady   Olenna,   after   all.   I   am   a   lady   born   and   bred."

After I’ve been inspired by the dog shifters! Au by @tame-the-lion-writes.I could imagine an underverse Au where all the sanses are animals, Cino would care for them for the most part in like a zoo cafe, or a rescue shelter that takes in all types of animals, I would call it ZOO!VERSE, (if you have any other ideas for the name tell me please I really want to name this cooler.)

Like Nightmare and the bad sanses are canines, like a wolf pack, like rescues that meant they couldn’t live in the wild like injuries or lack of pack when they are dependent on having one.

Nightmare being the alpha or leader, a mix between a black British Columbia and dire wolf and he would be very wild, having a missing eye and would be a blackish color with few scars here and there. Dust would be a Northern Rocky Mountain and Red wolf, along with Horror and Killer. The difference is that Dust has whiter fur on his head, and a dustier fur in total. Horror is very big, and has visible injuries on his skull, so he’s missing his left ear and his right eye is fully blind, just a white eye. Lastly I would just cannon that killer got sick or something or ate some type of drug that caused his eyes to be permanently dilated to the point where you can’t see his eye whites.

They all seem to stick together and trust each other deeply, from the forms it seems each of them were all found with Nightmare at some point. Which is how the pack formed, Cino taking in Nightmare and Dream and finding the wolf walking around with a new visitor that seemed to climb the fences every week. Soon came Dust when Cino spotted him lurking around the sanctuary’s fences and saw how Nightmare occasionally brings him food to eat from the others bowls.

And Horror was taken in after being found with a jagged pile impaled onto his head. After surgery he still never managed to grow his fur back on the left side of his head, but during the healing process Cino decided to take him in after he showed signs of improvement and social development with the bad sanses.

Error of all people would be a tuxedo cat, two blue hue like marks on his cheeks as he pawed at anyone who dared get close to him. He doesn’t seem to enjoy being there and chooses to stay due to the food and bed.

Hi! I have a question

In the mary and reginald aquarium scene, how are there pinguin, fish, etc? I mean aren't those noisrevians that transformed into their animal forms? Sorry I am just so confused right now

I know it's a bit confusing!! And people have asked me similar questions in the past, but I think now that I have at least one game each as an example I can explain it more clearly--so I will try to explain it as best I can. (Apologies in advanced for the long read!)

"Noisrev" is the name of the planet my characters exist on, and characters from Noisrev are called "Noisrevians" similar to how we would be called "Earthlings". However, Noisrev takes various different forms with slightly differing lore across all my games, hence why I call my works part of the "noisrev-verse".

The majority of Noisrevians are animals with human forms, who can shapeshift in and out of these forms. However, this changes depending on the game/work they're used in. I will put the 3 main types of "Noisrev" I use in my work in a numbered list below, but know that the order they appear in doesn't signify importance.

This version of Noisrev is one where, even though the people are still anthropomorphized versions of animals, many of the people don't seem to realize this and many of their abilities are latent(like fish people not being able to breathe underwater). These abilities may very well still exist, but it is as if the people have unconsciously forgotten what they really are. This is the version of Noisrev that exists in games like Cemetery Mary, where Mary describes herself as feeling a connection to manta rays while not acknowledging that she is one. They may acknowledge the presence of animal features on some characters like Zapara's ears or Theo's horns, but they'd only describe these characters as being "a wolf-like girl" and "a bull-like guy" and not acknowledge them as actually BEING a wolf or a bull. This is also the kind of Noisrev that exists in a game like Here For Sweethearts, where the protag describes characters as being "like" things like turtles and dogs, but not saying that they are one. "Normal" animals still exist and are regarded the same way they are in our world, which is why Mary and Reggie were able to go to an aquarium or why Mary had a pet tarantula in the past. ===

This version of Noisrev is one where Noisrevians know exactly what kind of animals they are, and can even shapeshift in-and-out of human form, but "normal" animals also still exist. I describe this version of Noisrev as being very similar to a Disney Cartoon, where Goofy is a dog and can walk and talk, but Pluto is also a dog and is only a pet. It's like that! This version of Noisrev is one where games like Crowscare and Blackout Hospital take place. In Crowscare, when Ryo talks to Ingram for the first time, Ryo acknowledges that Ingram being a talking bird is a bit surprising to him--but that he's also met plenty of people like Ingram before. In Blackout Hospital, Mary flat out calls Vasilis a deer instead of just saying they are like one. However, there are also references to "normal" animals such as therapy dogs that function the exact same way they do in the real world. ===

This version of Noisrev is one where Noisrevians know exactly what kind of animals they are, and can shapeshift in-and-out of human form, but "normal" animals do not exist. Noisrevian animals are the ONLY types of animals to exist, meaning that every single animal is also a person that can shapeshift. The role of real-world "normal" animals is taken over by "monsters/beasts" in their world. This is the version that exists in Semiaquatic Circus(and to an extent, Sweet No Death). Savannah is not a lion-tamer. She IS a lion who is a beast-tamer. This is the version of Noisrev that Noisrev was originally conceptualized as (and also my favorite). For this reason, you might occasionally hear me refer to this version of Noisrev as "Noisrev Proper". It's the way that Noisrev is technically "supposed" to be. === I hope this helps clear things up a little bit and that it's not too confusing!! ^^"
