@notefinal's a.rthur d.onaldson admits, ❛ i shall miss this, our selfish, private hours. ❜
the english countryside greeted them with fresh air and johanna fell in love at first sight. this is where she was meant to have grown up. among chickens and wild streams. taken from london before she was old enough to remember the city, she was raised in long island. socialites, parties, jewels that are blind---that's the life the judge wanted. but this, where she can taste sweet rain and feel the sun on her shoulders, this is where she is meant to be.
she's dragged art to the riverbank that runs near the estate. dipping her toes in the water and leaning her head against his shoulder. ❝ i will miss them, too. ❞ private hours like these won't be easy to come by once the baby is born. they won't be able to tuck the girls into bed and kiss their foreheads and ask the staff to keep an eye on them as they steal a few moments just for themselves. there isn't that much freedom with infants.
❝ i don't know what it's like to have a baby with someone who actually... wants it. i wasn't even able to tell laura's father before... ❞ why is she dawning on the past? why bring up a late lover when she wears art's ring? ( most birds mate for life. ) ❝ i'll miss them, too. ❞ the fact that art wants to be in their child's life, wants to raise them and hold her hand until he's pushed out of the delivery room, is something she's still getting used to. johanna shouldn't have expected any less from him. art wasn't upset with her nor the fact that between the years, she had anthony. he took laura under his wing. treated her like she was his own. and lily! she was shocked at the sight of a man of his standing so involved in his daughter's life. ( it made her all the more in love with him. )
johanna tucks her legs underneath herself. ❝ laura was a complete surprise. obviously---you don't exactly seek having a child out when you're sleeping with a man who isn't your husband, but i didn't think i could even... ❞ a sigh. she glances up at him. ❝ i was sick. for a long time. ❞ is starvation a sickness? ❝ i didn't think i could even... but here i am again. fat. ❞ gaze falls to her stomach. thank goodness for this decade's trends! before laura was born, it was nearly impossible to keep it hidden. they have a few months yet, but it's noticeable. ❝ i feel like i'm a new mother. despite having done this before and the girls. it's just so different. a very good different. ❞

@soldwrecked's arthur donaldson sent: [ montage ] receiver tries on clothes, and sender either approves or disapproves of each outfit with a nod or a shake of their head - reverse
when her hand trailed over the shirts sitting on his shelf -- the silk and satin and cotton and wool -- she wondered if she even had any clothes that were more expensive than this. johanna has to bite back a smile, all seriousness, as she watches art try them on for her now. she sits on the corner of his bed. dressed only in one of the shirts that fits more like an extremely short dress on her more than a blouse, she sits on the corner of his bed.
❝ hmm, i don't know about this one, mr. donaldson. ❞ a finger taps the corner of her lips. ❝ i think it's a tad too -- how do you say it? -- fantaisie for what we're going for. ❞ she pronounces it in a perfect french accent. the only time her french tutoring has ever come in handy for her. a coy eye gazes over the particular shirt he's trying on now. ❝ you're a bit overdressed, aren't you? i feel quite underdressed at the moment. ❞ she waves a finger in the air. ❝ next one, please! ❞
#look they get to be silly in this verse too okay#*❈ ‣ have you decided it’s safer in cages‚ singing when you’re told? — ( interaction. )#*❈ ‣ only we know what we’ve both been through‚ if i save you will you save me too? — ( v: great gatsby. feat. soldwrecked )#soldwrecked

He paused briefly, subtly darting over her delicate and fair features with a sense of fondness. In his eyes, Odette was much more than another princess; she was benevolent, bewitching, and poised — traits which Loki couldn't help but find himself drawn to, something that he silently vowed to protect. She was his opposite down to the most minute ways, so pristine and pure — something that, up until this moment, he had been certain he was never meant for. This time, something had shifted internally, an inexplicable whirlwind of emotions simmering beneath his pacified demeanor.
A steady rhythm filled his ears and hammered against his ribs, enveloping him in the tension of the moment. Loki found himself with one finger delicately hooked under her chin as he held her gaze, his other arm gently slipping around her waist to hold her flush against his form. The God had been struck, visions of moments he could only long for dancing just out of reach. And then, it rang clearly — a tuning fork upon a star.
Had the Norns bestowed a gift upon him? Plucking up his courage, he acted upon it before he could think better of it. "Minn ástir er æ," he murmured, audible just above the soft pops and snaps of the fireplace. Loki's eyes flickered toward her lips before he leaned in, closing the remaining distance between them with a slow, supple kiss.
Eyes followed her actions then up to even the smallest blemish on his face committing every bit of him to long-term memory. Such a memory she never wanted to lose. From fear of being touched to easing another, the princess cherished every second. A silence enveloped her and only the chips of the fireplace’s flame carried a sound in the room.
His hand felt natural over her caress. She contemplated if his movements gave her agency to continue, so she took the initiative placing both hands on his face. With as much sincerity as she could convey, Odette spoke softly, “Oh, Loki.” She stepped forward, leaning closely, faces barely inches away, and spoke once more in a tender whisper, “You will always have me.”

After party report from the New York Times:
Just past 3 a.m., Jonathan Groff, who won his first Tony for best leading actor in a musical for “Merrily We Roll Along,” headed to the bar and led a rendition of a Sondheim standard from the show, “Old Friends.”
His co-star Daniel Radcliffe and Mr. Radcliffe’s longtime girlfriend, the actress Erin Darke, watched from their perch on a banquette as they greeted well-wishers. (Mr. Radcliffe had also just won his first Tony Award for “Merrily,” for his performance as the composer Charley Kringas.)
Then the pianist Billy Stritch started in on the rousing chords of “New York, New York,” the John Kander and Fred Ebb tune made famous by Frank Sinatra. Soon the whole room, which included Eva Noblezada (“The Great Gatsby”) and Andrew R. Butler (“Stereophonic”), was belting along to the anthem for city dreamers.
“Start spreadin’ the news, I’m leavin’ today …”
Mr. Groff danced alongside the piano, growing progressively louder with each verse, until it was time for the finale.
“If I can make it there, I’ll make it anywhere/ It’s up to you, New York, Neeeeeeew York.”
Video of part of the singalong is at the New York Post

ok so. boston gatsby musical. overall? i enjoyed it, had a great time watching it, etc.... HOWEVER. cons first then pros. and then stuff i had mixed feelings on.
a) they took gatsby's teeth out. he was wayyy too nice. also not charismatic enough. like i feel like a gatsby should suck the air out of a room bc you're too busy staring at him. like those gayass vampires from the vampire show. anyway he was dorky and like sweet and shit and im like that is NOT jay gatsby!!!! that is a musical theater mfa.
b) daisy was also a yass queen white feminist instead of like. the ideal that gatsby obsesses over which like ok, fleshing out female characters, wtver, but daisy SUCKS SO HARD like she killed that girl. did daisy buchanan successfully utilize girl power when she vehicular manslaughtered her husband's mistress. also they were leaning so hard into the class thing that it might've been better to like uh idk TALK ABOUT CLASS??? BC DAISY IS ALL ABOUT CLASS SHE IS LITERALLY THE REPRESENTATION OF THE UPPER CLASS?????
b part 2) they also changed it so that daisy actually totally did want to marry gatsby and her mom forced her to marry tom which imo removes a lot of nuance from the story like??? its not a fucking love story????!!! daisy was NOT about to marry gatsby when he was poor like. let's not try to make daisy something she isn't.
c) ok so they basically made it so gatsby was Native American and like pretending to be white and that in and of itself is NOT a con, i think that's an interesting way to deal with the whole new money/reinvention thing. HOWEVER it felt very shoehorned in bc it was literally only mentioned in the last song when gatsby's dad came to bury him. and then the finale was like #landback which is all well and good but again let's maybe try and have one cohesive theme (class tensions) before we try to add things into the final two songs. because that is not the place to add themes.
d) this isn't so much a con as a ???? but jordan??? what the fuck was she doing there. she like was an exposition drop for nick like twice and then she just stood there and had a verse in like two songs and made out with people. the actress was very hot so it was okay but like. what was she doingggggg.
e) i LOVE florence + the machine however. the music was GOOD, objectively speaking but i would have appreciated a little more variety. the tap number was great tho, 10/10. also loved the damage that you do, that was a good one. "what of love and what of god" felt like, a good florence + the machine song but a heavy handed musical theater song like. giving dust and ashes. great song, but jesus christ josh groban calm the fuck down.
PROS:
a) ok i know i said gatsby wasn't charismatic enough BUT. in the meyer wolfsheim number, he was tap dancing and it was INCREDIBLE. so what i think is that they just should have had him dance more, bc the actor was an INCREDIBLE dancer and that would've given him the gatsby charisma and magnetism. so that's a directing/staging issue not an actor issue. like as far as i remember he only properly danced in that one song.
b) i did appreciate how they fleshed out myrtle and her husband, it was very well done and added significantly to the class tension themes of the original novel
b part 2) HOLY SHIT SOLEA PFEIFFER THE WOMAN THAT YOU ARE. also the husband ATE. the two of them were really extraordinary, standout performances.
c) nick was very charming, they did fourth wall break/monologue type things and it worked quite well i thought. he had a great voice, would've loved it if they gave him more to do but...
d) i mentioned this before but GOOD LORD the meyer wolfsheim tap number was fantastic. best part of the whole show imo
e) honestly the tom was very good. like detestable and i wanted to punch him in his face the whole time but. he was quite good. and i said it before but the damage that you do ATE.
f) very sexy. lots of hot people dancing and making out with each other.
ok now things im unsure about.
a) look. nick carraway is a homosexual. you know this; i know this, however, i don't think he's aware enough to be like "yeah i'm fucking gay and in love with gatsby" like he is gay, he is in love with gatsby but like i do not think he knows that. he idolizes gatsby because he doesn't have the vocabulary or the self knowledge to know that he's in love with him. also babe if you know you're gay and you know you'r ein love with gatsby and gatsby is trying to get with you for his first song and a half, WHY ARE YOU HELPING HIM GET WITH THE LOVE OF HIS LIFE WHO HAPPENS TO BE YOUR COUSIN???? make it make sense. but yea i think making nick gay is the right choice and even having him make out with dudes is the right choice and yea maybe he even knows he's gay but i really don't think he knows he's in love with gatsby. and also nick didn't narrate quite enough and when he did he wasn't quite unreliable enough.
basically i just LOVe the great gatsby and while i did enjoy this musical i just didn't like it as much as the book. so i guess my expectations were too high. also i found it ironic and depressing that in a musical where the adapters added so much about modern politics and tried so hard to modernize the politics of the original novel, the ushers STILL managed to be racist to my mother. yay a.r.t!!!!!

Helloo!!
I was just wondering if you knew any fics where Remus is a photographer? The plot doesn't necessarily matter, just as long as Remus is a photographer, and that it plays a not necessarily central role, but at least so that it gets mentioned often throughout the story.
Thanks!!
A picture of my dog because she's adorable🫶
Well since you sent a picture of your ADORABLE dog, clearly this request must be filled.
Photographer Remus 📸
Exposed by @remuslives23 (Part 3 of the Muse Verse series) Sirius helps Remus overcome his insecurities.
Ink & Parchment by @prettyremus A cache of letters between Remus Lupin and Sirius Black has recently been uncovered. Join us as they are released, and read the story of their love through their own words.
Walking in a Wizard Wonderland by @yumenouveau It's minutes till Christmas and Sirius has just finished bar-tending for the a Victorian-style wedding. He'd been watching the cute photographer all night, but little did he know the other man was looking back at him too. With how hard it's started to snow, Sirius wonders whether the other man will be able to get home or if he'll be staying over for Christmas
Rule of Thirds by bluepeony Modern AU: Sirius Black, star of the university's football team, only wants one thing: a teensy-weensy, harmless little kiss.
Pictures of You by @cacchieressa He stretched out his hand desperately as if to snatch only a wisp of air, to save a fragment of the spot that [he] had made lovely for him. But it was all going by too fast now for his blurred eyes and he knew that he had lost that part of it, the freshest and the best, forever. ~F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby

books are cool

Modern books are typically in codex format, composed of many pages that are bound together and protected by a cover.
The book above was one of the first ever books printed with a printing press. Modern books are usually in codex format, composed of many pages. They are connected together by a cover. One of my favorites was The Great Gatsby, a classic book by American writer F. Scott Fitzgerald. The Great Gatsby is widely considered to be a literary masterpiece and a contender for the title of the Great American Novel. As a conceptual object, a book refers to a written work of substantial length, which may be distributed either physically or in digital forms like eBooks. These can be fiction or non-fiction. A physical book may not contain such a work: for example, it may contain only drawings, engravings, photographs, puzzles, or removable content like paper dolls. It may also be left empty for personal use, as in the case of account books, appointment books, autograph books, notebooks, diaries and sketchbooks.
The picture above is a notebook, not all books contain stories in them, they can be used to write stories. Writing stories such as diary entries are so relaxing. Who knows, your diary might become a famous story in the future. Books are sold at different stores, online for delivery, and can be borrowed from libraries.

I love every bit of your writing that I've read, but I've only read a little due to sharing a whole one (1) Fandom with you. If I wanted to read more of your work without knowing the source material, would you make any recommendations? Thank you!
Good morning, anon! If I knew which single fandom we shared, I’d make the assumption that you’ve read most of my work in that one. However, because I’m not sure where you started with my work, I can’t promise I won’t accidentally rec you something you’ve already read. I apologize in advance if that happens.
The fandom most people share with me these days is either Good Omens, Gotham, or Pacific Rim, just by sheer volume of the fic I’ve written for each of those. I wrote a lot of BBC Sherlock at the time that was first popular, too.
I’m going to rely on feedback over time, as far as what to rec you that readers have told me can be approached without much familiarity of the source material. In most cases, this means some of my longer series, because there’s enough material in them to be self enclosed (i.e. most move forward from where canon stops and become their own little universe).
For stand alones that nonetheless have enough substance to be worth the effort, I’d say try these stories first:
The City of Towers (American Gods)
What You Don’t See / At this Chance (Hamlet)
Our Breath Will Still / A Short Distance Ahead (Pacific Rim 1950s AU ft. cryptids, paleontology, and the fallout from WWII)
The Space Between Love and the End of the World (Everything Is Illuminated)
For longer series that will be enough for you to get lost in for a while, I point most people to these above all else:
Anthology (Pacific Rim)
Delicate, Dangerous, Obsessed (Gotham)
Playing for Keeps (Gotham)
Crown of Thorns [The Walls, the Wainscot, and the Mouse] ’Verse (Good Omens)
The latter is my life’s proudest work, as far as fandom goes. And if you’d like to try some of my published-outside-of-fandom work in poetry and prose, it’s these:
The Sting of It (poetry collection)
The Pursued and the Pursuing (Great Gatsby sequel that actually started its life as a novella on AO3)
Finally, I have a new novel that’s almost finished now that’s (mostly) unrelated to the above. I don’t know just yet where my agent will manage to sell it. I’ll give updates here as and when that occurs.

Art doesn’t want to think about her waiting for him. “I know. But l didn’t want you to. I didn’t want you to be tied to me forever. It wouldn’t have been fair to you.” He would have wanted her to live her life. And she did, a little bit. She had Anthony. Art wishes he could’ve met Anthony. He knows how much he meant to Johanna and he wishes he could thank him. She’s right. There’s no point in thinking about that reality. It’s too painful.
He shakes his head. “I don’t.” He doesn’t want to think about a life where he’s happy. He doesn’t want to think about a life where he and Johanna could have been together since the beginning. It would make him even more miserable than he already is, and he doesn’t want that. “I really don’t.”
at seventeen, she felt so mature, so eager to drink from every ocean. at eighteen, she would look at art and tell herself that she would marry that boy. how is she so much less confident in herself at twenty-three? where did all of those girlish dreams escape to? johanna cups her hand in the pool water, dapping it across her forehead. ❝ i would have waited for you. i would have written to you and set an extra place at the table. ❞ and everything. now here she is: playing mistress.
in the brick mansion across the bay, she feels more hurt. but what did they know at eighteen years old? the slightest shrug. ❝ i suppose... sorry, there's no point in thinking about that reality either. " as much as she wishes she could scream at him, " you're still here! you're still here and i should have married you! " ❝ you don't even want to imagine getting married? ❞

Then the pianist Billy Stritch started in on the rousing chords of Frank Sinatra’s “New York, New York.” Soon the whole room, which included Eva Noblezada (“The Great Gatsby”) and Andrew R.
