“you know why you’re here, don’t you?” horror’s voice rings through the air, rumbling and venomous. “it’s because this is all you’ll ever deserve. me. killer. this. you think someone like you gets a happy ending? wake up already – you’re a fucking terrible person.”

murder’s breath hitches, his jaw tightening as his fists balled at his sides. “that’s not true,” he mutters under his breath.

“isn’t it?” horror laughs. “look at you. you’re a walking disaster. everything you touch, you ruin. you’re a monster pretending to be something better, but no one’s buying it.”

“i’m not!” murder snaps, his voice cracking. “i’m not like you, or him. i am better. i can be better.”

horror steps forward, his grin widening as he sees murder flinches. “oh, you’re better, aren’t you? then why haven’t you left yet? is it because no one else has taken you in except for us? face it, murder. you belong here because no one else wants you. you’re a broken, dangerous freak, and this is as good as it gets for you.”

“shut up.” murder’s voice drops, low and dangerous. his entire body is trembling with magic crackling around him like a brewing lightning storm. his eyes are wild, and horror has a feeling they’re not fully focused on him.

“or what?” horror presses, his voice rising, his words dripping with cruel delight. “what are you gonna do? prove me right? show me exactly how unhinged you are? go ahead, babe. take a swing. let’s see if you can succeed in finishing something for once in your goddamn life.”

murder takes a step forward, his breathing ragged, his eyes so blown out horror wonders why they haven’t popped yet. for a moment, murder’s hand twitches, lifting just enough that horror tenses.

but then, the hooded skeleton stares at a spot next to horror’s head, his hand unsure whether it wants to close or open. murder grits his teeth then suddenly jumps away from horror.

“i’m not-” murder stammers, his voice cracking. he stumbles back, clutching his head. “i’m not like this. i’m not!”

“pathetic,” horror says, his voice cutting through murder’s spiraling thoughts. “you can’t even stand your ground. what – thinking of running away again?”

murder’s breath comes in shuddering gasps. he turns on his heel and bolts, shoving the door open so hard it slams against the wall.

horror calls after him. “yeah, run! that’s all you’re good for, isn’t it? running away when you can’t take it anymore!”

the sound of murder’s footsteps echoes down the hall, frantic and uneven.

horror stands there, his chest heaving, the room too quiet now. the cruel smile on his face falls as he stands in the silence. he clenches his teeth and grips the crack in his head, muttering to himself.

just outside the door, killer leans lazily against the wall, one hand idly toying with his knife. “good show,” he comments dryly, his voice almost bored. “think you’ll break him next time, or is this your limit?”

horror shoots him a glare but doesn’t respond. he turns away, shoving his hands into his pockets. no matter how hard he tries, he can’t seem to block out the sting of regret that lingers, faint and unwelcome.

Stumbled across your page and the non-human au, the designs are super cute, I love them so much!!! I had a question about Vil though, so was his mom an angel? Would that make him half-human like Trey and Sebek, (and any others).

Hehe thank you! I'm glad you like the au! Yes, Vil's mother was indeed an angel! A high ranking one (which just means she was very powerful and also tall as shit, like, imagine Lady Dimitrescu basically. Eric was a very lucky man). Though Vil is only PARTLY human, not half, they are almost a full angel but just slightly weaker than the average high ranking one.

That's because due to Vil's mother being a powerful angel, it meant that her genes were stronger than Eric's, which basically means chances of a child being born either full angel or partly human were very high, and a full human baby would be impossible. (Vil is basically their moms mini me)

Reason why characters like Trey and Sebek are half-human is because their non-human parents aren't like whole powerful mythical beasts (Dragon, Angel, Demon, etc), they might be physically stronger and bigger but they aren't like magic-wise super powerful to where their genes are even stronger (like if a harpy/birdfolk and a human have a child it isn't impossible for them to have a fully human baby, unlike an angel or a demons which is impossible).

I will say, because Vil is partly human, it means they have some small differences compared to their mother/a normal high ranking angel:

They take more energy when flying/shape-shifting/using magic, which exhausts them more (and often gives them headaches or makes them dizzy). And of course their magic is weaker compared to a normal high ranking angel.

They have less "extra eyes". Vil's mother had at least 8 floating eyes around her, and four of the same size eyes on her face directly (she was able to see through all of them perfectly). While Vil has only 4 floating eyes around them, and 4 eyes on their face directly, though one of the pair on their face is way smaller and blind, they cannot see through them (they're basically just decorations, they can see through their other eyes just fine tho)

They are able to catch the average human sicknesses like a common cold, the flu, or even have allergies, while full angels are immune to them. But fortunately despite being partly human, they can never die from old age which means they're still considered "immortal" just like any angel, with only some minor inconveniences!

These are only like some examples of what makes Vil different from the average angel, but you get the gist. I hope some of it made sense and it isn't just random gibberish lmao

Chapter Seven: A Pirate and his Bonnie

Ignoring the phones was easy enough, especially when Luka scooped her up and carted her into the bedroom.

“More room,” he breathed against her lips as he followed her onto the bed, “and easier to clean.”

She had been laughing too hard to make his attempts to divest her of her clothes very easy, so he had pulled back and lost his own instead.

That had shut her up.

But the phones had been left in the living room, on the crates by the couch, and it had been too easy to ignore any calls that might have come in while he came in, when they were out of sight and out of mind and Marinette was singing too sweetly for either of them to hear a ringer.

It was harder to ignore the knocking on his door…some indeterminate amount of time later.
