Verity’s Rework. Bit of a long one. I felt like she needed more character, so I rebuilt her from the ground up and I really like how this turned out. So, Enjoy! @ebevkisk
CW: mild horror elements, sexual content
Spark of Power
Cor Varias was the Battleground for Divinity. To believe that the world was only surface deep would be a massive underestimation. Dark and dangerous creatures lay buried, chained, and lost beneath the war-torn shell of its crust. The world knew very little about what lived in the depths of its caves. It knew even less about what lurked in the deep sea.
Lying at the bottom of Kariga’s Trench was a city. Merfolk resided in a state of protection. Zigguridan had been locked inside a prison plane deep within the catacombs of the trench and as the population wandered about their various tasks, unaware of the power that slept below their fins. As Zigguridan slept, he continued to search. His restraints shook as he combed the minds of the people that watched over his cage, searching for a receptive mind worthy of being his acolyte.
“None of these minds suit me. Such lack of potential. Lack of substance. Such wasted population.”
As he continued to scour their minds, the restrains continued to tighten and bind him in place in his prison plane.
“Too much emotion. The world has grown soft. I need a clean slate. These cattle only know apprehension and stress.”
Suddenly, the restraints tied the massive eldritch being in place, causing its rage to subside.
“One day, I will drag myself from this place. The world shall know fear. If only there was a vessel worthy to be my harbinger.”
As several centuries passed, generations of merfolk cycled throughout the city. Governments rose and fell. People began to lose the knowledge of the old lore as the catacombs fell silent.
A few blocks away, a young mergirl was born in complete silence. Not a cry or a sound was uttered. As the nurses checked the baby, concern rose as the silence continued. As they continued to speculate, the decided the best course of action was to bring the baby to the clerics.
“Priest, there is only so many things we can do. What do you suggest?”
“Allow me to assess the child.”
The priest did his usual checks. What he found was startling. Not only did she not cry, but her heartbeat was near stagnant. The best was twice as slow as most merfolk. He cast detect thoughts and the child’s brain was the ideal of serenity. Perfectly functioning, but no fear existed. Only curiosity.
“Unsettling.”
As the child opened their eyes for the first time, the priest recoiled in horror. There were no pupils, there were no irises. All he could see was darkness in those eyes. She could follow his finger, but her eyes were an empty void.
As years past, her parents deserted her and drove her out. She remained an urchin at the age of 4, wandering the streets, calm as she ever was. She could still feel, but fear was absent. Every day presented new terror but she was never phased.
In the deep, a power stirred.
“Finally.”
As decades went by, that same merfolk girl slipped past the guards and into the catacombs. Dark teal hair, void black eyes, and teeth as sharp as razors slid into the deep darkness. This creature for the 25 years of her life had named herself Verity. As she cast Light, a crooked smile crawled across her face. Ever since her birth, she felt a growing sense of attachment to whatever lived in the catacombs and, finally, she was here.
“Well, hello. What a treasure trove of wonderful things.” She had become a trickster and a greedy one at that. Money was a hard commodity to find and the city treated her like an outcast. It didn’t bother her, but it did make it more fun to attempt to seduce the people who tried to harass her. No one fucks with Sorrow’s Succubus.
As she swam and dived deeper and deeper, she felt a presence beckoning further. A warm feeling in her chest was pulling her downward. Her mind was buzzing with not only anticipation, but a violent wave of psychic energy that radiated from just being in the space of this entity.
As she pressed on, she entered a giant ritual chamber. Torches lit the walls despite her being leagues under the water. The psychic waves were now so powerful that Verity’s nose had started to bleed, but the warm feeling was stronger than ever.
A deep bellowing voice seared into her brain. “Who disturbs my rest? Why come you here?”
Verity’s excitement was peaking. “My name is Verity. I felt called here by a higher power. I can only assume you are tied to this.”
She felt a deep abyssal magic dig into her mind, rifling through the shelves and digging into the cabinets. “Ah, the mermaid with the pitch black eyes. I was wondering when you would seek out the source of my gifts.”
Her serrated smile grew. “Your gifts have been well used. May I ask the name of my benefactor?”
Zigguridan scanned once more. “All in good time, Verity. I only ask that you trust in my words and all will be revealed in due time.”
Verity swam to the floor to see a sigil carved into the floor. “What would you ask of me?”
Zigguridan shifted in his restraints. He was tired of his prison, but this act of escape would require a delicate touch. Being the master manipulator that he was and how far his influence could stretch, a high-value target had arisen within the last couple decades that could be of use.
“You are my chosen. Your power is that of the mind and to dig and search and play with the emotions of others is a gift we share. I have a task for you.”
Verity finally had a purpose. These visions, this power, all for a reason. No more hiding, no more stealing. She could finally make something of herself. All she had to do was find the blood cleric. As she swam to the surface, a heartbeat entered her brain and she knew it was who she was looking for.
As Verity closed in on the surface, her speed slowed and she hid behind a rock, searching for her target. Panning her view down the coastline, as she searched, she finally found who she was looking for and her heart stopped. Bright red hair, amazing figure, heterochromic eyes, and a gorgeous singing voice.
What was this? What the fuck? Her heart was thudding in her chest. No, don’t get attached. We needed her.
Verity slowly swam up and poked half her head out of the water.
The cleric looked startled. “Hello.”
Verity raised her eyebrow and the rest of her head exited the water. “Only a hello, mildly jumpy human?” Verity subtly cast Detect Thoughts.
The cleric got down on her knees at the edge of the water. She wasn’t wearing much. Her leather armor was strapped on with skin tight pants, a combat skirt, and a crop top that showed off a fantastic bust. Her mind was winning with very gay thoughts. This would be so easy.
The cleric was trying to search her eyes. “Not jumpy, just wary. Merpeople have a sordid reputation for dragging people into the deep and eating them alive.”
Verity snarled. “I only did that a few times! Gods, I was hungry, ok?”
The cleric reached out and pulled her hand away shortly after. “That’s not my business. Your hair is gorgeous. And so are your eyes.”
Verity’s heart had never beat so fast in her life. And no one liked her eyes. What was with this girl? No, keep your cool, Verity. Just seduce her and drag her under.
Verity gave a sultry look and started to rise from the water, as the cleric slowly backed up. “Well, that’s not the only thing that’s gorgeous.” As she rose from the water, her tail shifted into legs. Now, mermaids never wore clothes. So when Verity walked onto shore, nude butt shaped like a perfect peach, boobs perky yet round, and hips sloped in a healthy manner, the Detect thoughts on the cleric was a wash of flattery and declarations about how absolutely gay she was.
Mermaids could spend a week at most on land before their skin started to dry out and Verity’s grayish skin was no different, but humans touching their skin was a no-no. However, Verity’s heart was craving this girl’s touch. She’d never wanted this before. What was wrong? Who was this girl?
The cleric stood and, with a stutter, spoke. “I-I’m Petra. Nice to see yo-…MEET. Meet you.”
Verity gave a small chuckle and slowly reached for Petra’s hand. “Don’t be scared. It’s ok. I won’t hurt you.” WHAT? Of COURSE you’re going to hurt her. That’s the entire purpose!
Petra stood and guided Verity’s hands to her buttons to undo her top. Verity gave a cute giggle. “Wow, you move fast.” Verity, you need to focus. What are you doing?! You should be tricking her, not the other way around.
As Petra’s shirt came off, Verity’s entire train of thought derailed only to be replaced with the word “boobs” as she was entranced by this girl who, without a second thought, exercised complete trust in Verity, a mermaid who’s plan was to drag her into the deep.
Verity’s entire facade dropped the second Petra pulled her in close with her hands on Verity’s butt. Verity was a couple inches taller, but this girl had a radiance and an energy that couldn’t be explained. At that exact moment, the Detect Thoughts went silent except for one persevering thought.
“Kiss me please.”
All plans Verity had went out the window as this cleric had shown her a trust and a desire and a respect no one else had shown her in her life. And, despite the razor sharp teeth, Verity found herself completely at the mercy of a girl that she had just met.
After several minutes, Petra pulled away. “I-I know we just met, but I feel like I know you. If I created a chamber just for you, water and everything, would you come live with me and allow me to get to know you properly?”
Verity could feel tears welling in her eyes as the years of feeling unwanted and scorned washed over her. Verity pulled Petra down on top of her, laying down on the rocks in the tide pools where they were and kissed her once more, pulling her in tight to feel her heartbeat against her’s and, without even thinking, Verity gave in with the words. “Wherever you go, I will follow.”
In her brain, she heard her patron whisper.
“Goddammit…”
Verity smiled and thought to him. “Don’t worry. I have an idea.”

Fury of the Druid-Petra and Emily
@the-one-and-only-mebh-llewell
Petra had never seen Lyria so rattled before. She had also never seen her more afraid than when Aerin mentioned the people in the location they were going. It was a fear she wasn’t used to seeing on her face. Petra had seen this girl stand up to a 10-foot tall Amazon vampire woman, but she’d never seen her turn as pale as she did before they separated.
“She’s gonna be ok, Petra.” Emily said as she jogged her back to reality. They were sprinting across the facility, reaching the back of this coliseum-type building that harbored a very unpleasant aura that felt like death was part of a continued history of this place. It was unsettling to say the very least.
“I know, but I’ve never seen Lyria scared like this. It’s like she’d seen a ghost.” Petra responded. “Almost to a point where I feel like we need to listen to her.” Her red tattoo started glowing and she grabbed Emily and all of a sudden, they appeared inside the room directly inside.
“Thank god this place has windows.” Petra continued. “Take the lead here. You’re better at stealth than I am and I’m sure Olive wouldn’t mind helping.”
Olive was riveted by the urgency and had crawled out to Emily’s shoulder. As they made their way through the dimly lit corridors of this testing facility, it almost seemed like the guards and surveillance were focused in one area. Almost as if whatever they were guarding was far too valuable to lose.
Olive soared high over what looked like the entry into the main arena. This hallway almost looked like a antechamber to a gladiator coliseum and Petra was reminded of several places in Wildemount where fight clubs and battle arenas resided, purely to see public executions. This room was also guarded by almost 20-30 almost military-looking individuals.
“Ok, here’s what we’re going to do. Does Olive see any other entry ways to that room?” Petra asked as Emily continued to survey the area.
No response. Oh right. Whenever Emily used her familiar’s senses, it repurposed her sight and hearing and fitted it on Olive. Usually, it was ok because she’s nearby, but this time, Olive was out and about.
As Emily zoned back in, Olive landed on her shoulder. “Ok so from what I’ve seen, there is a vent system a couple meters back that could serve as a good entry point. However, if we’re not perfectly quiet, they are immediately going to know what’s going on. Also, that main room was empty outside of several cameras and a girl with bright pink hair tied to a table.”
Petra recoiled. “Odd coincidence. Wait, no, it can’t be. She can’t jump dimensions. Alright, let’s do it. I can silence our movements four about a minute, but that’s it, so once we’re in there, we need to book it.”
Both girls snuck back to the vent and worked it open just enough to slide inside. Petra waved her hand and muttered a few words under her breath and immediately they rushed through the system and out the other end without so much as a squeak from the ventilation shaft.
As they dropped to the ground on the outside ring of what looked like a massive Roman gladiator stadium, Emily started to talk. “So I know this isn’t a great time, but I was wondering whether we’re gonna get into bed anytime soon.”
Petra, focused on the task at hand, felt autopilot kick in. “I wouldn’t expect so. I mean, we are in the middle of enemy territory and we still have to get home after this as well as shower because I feel gross, so I don’t think we’ll be sleeping soon at all.”
Emily growled. “Hun, you know that’s not what I mean. It’s been six months.”
Petra stepped into the lights that were focused on the human in the middle. “Look, I don’t know what you’re going on about, but we kind of have a situation here. First things first, love.”
Emily fell silent. She also seemed angry, but priorities were important. As they stepped up to the table, Petra’s attention was drawn to the hot pink hair and the sleeveless garb that was accented with burns and worn out leather. As she looked closer, the person stirred and Petra saw bruises and cuts all over her arms and legs, which had skintight Capri pants. As the reached the table, the only words that came to her mind were “Oh fuck…”
Emily turned towards her. “Hun, they have to have noticed us by now. What’s up?”
Petra had this thousand-yard stare as she opened the restraints. As she did, the girl started to wake from her sleep. As she opened her eyes, a serene yet clearly rebellious voice came out of her tiny frame. “Oh you have GOT to be kidding me.”
Petra felt her entire body convulse as she reacted to the clearly disgusted tone of voice that she hadn’t heard for literal years. “How the hell did you get here? This plane isn't even close to Exandria.”
The girl sat up and mused her wrists. “I could ask you the same question, Ray-Ray. And what kind of audacity would present you with the ability to rescue me here?”
Emily’s head snap almost broke her neck. “Wait, you two know each other?!” Petra face felt the shame activate all the way to her toes. The girl responded for her. “You never told them about me. Cool. Glad I was so important to you.”
Petra helped her stand up. “It wasn’t like that and you know it. You knew what my life was at the time. You knew I was hunting the priest-“
The girl cut her off. “So leaving me behind, broken and miserable after months of distrust and putting up walls is supposed to comfort me?”
Emily cut in. “Uh, ladies, we have company.”
As if on cue, out of the shadows walked a man. Bald, covered in scar tissue and tattoos, and with an unsettling grin on his face, he stepped out to face Petra and Emily. The girl was leaning on Petra’s shoulder because she didn’t have the strength to stand.
The man spoke. “I thought I smelled a cockroach. Here, I find two of them trying to waltz out with my dear prisoner here. I’m impressed. It takes a lot to sneak past me and yet here you are. You’ve clearly done this before.”
His voice was deep yet imposing, sprinkling ice into her veins. Petra scanned through the endless shelves in her brain trying to pull out files on the little she knew about Lyria’s past. Her trauma was extensive and she didn’t want to talk about it, but Petra had picked up bits and pieces here and there.
The man continued. “I also figured the little rat would try something eventually considering Aerin hadn’t returned with her report. Boss was always really good about provoking the lion.”
Emily responded. “We couldn’t ignore an invitation now, could we? So here we are. I doubt you’ll be able to stop our escape. There are three of us and only one of you.”
The man cackled with a malevolent energy that Petra had only ever felt once. The man continued to step closer. “Please. Me and the rest of the Rusted Blade have made an entire reputation on dispatching entire armies, so what could a small group of girls do to me.”
That’s when it clicked. Petra immediately recognized the name. The Rusted Blade was a group of eight mercenaries that served as Lyria’s father’s special forces team as well as the teachers of the next generation of brutal executioners. They also were the ones…
“Emily, hold on to Verity for me. Make sure she is safe.” Petra said as Emily helped Verity, the girl with the pink hair onto her shoulders as Petra drew the sword from her side as the navy blue armored combat skirt rippled with her movement. Petra stepped forward. “You. You were the ones who violated Lyria. You scarred her for life, took advantage of her, drove her into a depression, and disregarded her consent.” Petra lashed out with her whip, entangling the bald merc that stood before her.
The merc seemed unphased. “I had my orders. My orders were to turn her into a compliant, unfeeling killing machine. But that’s not to say I didn’t enjoy it.” Activating his semblance, three claws on each hand big enough to be battle axes extended, shattering the chain all the way down to the hilt and breaking the whip irreparably.
Petra set the hilt in her side satchel and continued her approach. “What is your name?”
The man answered. “The Tiger. That’s all you need to know.”
Petra unveiled her purple wings and, with an unnatural glow even Emily had never seen, rose into the air. “Then that is how you will die. Feel the wrath of gods.” With that, she charged.
Wild slashes grazed off of each blade. Petra rarely ever fought angry, but she saw only red as she fought with a fury the world had never known.
Petra parried each blow as the Tiger relentlessly attempted to tear into her flesh with each swing of his massive claws. Petra tore into the air with her wings and attempted to launch a torrent of ice shards toward him as she advanced on his opposition as he knocked away the ice with each swing. Tiger continued to attempt to ravage her with blades the size of claymores as she continued to slowly make several cuts on his body. Blood seeped from his wounds and slowly, Petra began to gain an advantage.
Petra slid under a deadly punch and, using her wings maneuverability, spun to take advantage only to be met with him blocking her attack. She used her foot to shove him away while casting Sunburst. Immediately, a ring of radiant light appeared above him. Unphased, he charged her, dragging a massive claw across her chest, causing both Emily and Verity to yell out in fear and three gaping wounds opened in her chest and her fabric tore almost asunder..
It was then that the primal power that laid dormant for so long awoke and, with a raised hand, the Tiger immediately stopped in his tracks. Petra stood, arm still up and fury coursing through her veins. The Tiger, unable to control his actions, walked forward with his arms at his sides, true fear creeping into his countenance as he realized what was going on. “What? What are you doing to me, bitch?!”
Petra walked him closer. “What? You don’t like being forced to do something you don’t want? Maybe next time you’ll think before forcing yourself upon someone. Oh wait.” And with a violent twist of her wrist, the Tiger’s head turned completely around with a gruesome *crack*. Petra immediately dropped his lifeless body to the floor and strode back towards her friends. Emily looked terrified.
“What the hell was that?” She said with a nervous energy in her voice. Petra put her wings away and sheathed her sword. “I’ll explain everything once we get back to the castle, I promise. Verity, we also have some catching up to do especially given your recent endeavors. I promise, in due time, but right now, we need to get the other two. I fear they might be in danger.”

THEY ARE MINE
The world of Cor Varias had known its fair share of hardships. The gods, caring for the people they watched over, stepped back from the world to watch from afar. As civilization grew around the scars of the Disparity, the world and its inhabitants began to progress the world due to their own cooperation and ingenuity rather than leaning on divine powers too much. And the gods wouldn’t have had it any other way.
The prime heads of the deities had issued the Law of Direction. Divine beings could not directly interfere with mortal progress. They could appoint clerics and paladins and influence many other heroes, but even with them, they could not directly intercede in any way that would dramatically alter mortality’s development. Any choices or efforts or any discoveries could only be influenced by divine help if directly called on by mortality and, even then, the deities could only offer minor aid unless it was to intercept any malevolent divine force.
Mortality grew and, eventually, a lot of the gods faded into obscurity, though still watching from afar. The world grew its own conflicts and mortality continued to rise and fall with each decade. No one new the threats that lay within chains or deep within the abyss were stirring.
In a tower beyond space and time, a cloak battered against the pace of her walking as she entered the meeting chamber where several demigods like herself stood around a table. Her eyes red and lavender as she took her seat.
“Feels weird to call us a council, so I won’t. Especially since we’re all married. In any case, Cor Varias is in trouble as you all know and as much as we want to do this for ourselves, the Law of Direction limits our ability, even as demigods.” Petra spoke.
Haley smiled. “I’ve been doing some research and I think I found us some candidates for eyes on the ground. We obviously can’t bless them like gods, but we can help steer them in the right direction.”
Marasenna, in her intimidating glory, nodded. “We also aren’t as bound by the law so we can actively fight these threats. But these three will have to take the lead.”
Lyria restrung her bow. “Well, then I guess we have our work cut out for us. Who do we have?”
Verity placed out three dossiers on the table. “One is a sorcerer. A diplomat of the Tabaxi Order. Incredibly powerful. Nearly impossible to kill and has a twinge of dark in them.”
Emily, eyes still closed in meditation, agreed and continued. “There is also a tiefling. Deep hemocraft is woven into her blood, but something stole her memory. She knows nothing of her past, but she has a fight in her you can’t match.”
Aerin continued. “And finally, a cleric like you, Petra, but this one harbors an aura of death. The Mistress, Malathriel, has taken a special interest in her. Loving family, but she also houses something ancient. Malathriel loves, cherishes, and cares deeply for her clerics and has always honored the Law, but this young aasimar also harbors power from the deep. We suspect Zigguridan and his cult had a hand in it.”
Petra drifted her hands over the dossiers. “Well, they all fit the part. They have a long journey ahead of them. Especially if the hope to catch us and our thousands of years of experience. Nonetheless, we can’t let our foes know we are making moves. Senna, Em, and Haley, I think you should go wake them up. Cor Varias is about to get very interesting indeed.”
@ebevkisk, I spite wrote this. Also, an introduction to my new world I’m building and I think you’ll love who protects this world. Consider this a reminder of my darling lovelies as well as my D&D characters written as the SHOULD have been written.

Cool Things My OC’s Can Do That May Surprise You
Petra Naverrian
She’s a very talented singer and dancer. She’s a performer (artistic or otherwise) and kind of loves being in the spotlight. Her team is very supportive of this (mostly because they’re all gay as hell and love when she’s in a spicy mood.)
Lyria Peregrine
She’s an archer by trade and is a VERY good one. Legend has it that she once pinned three flies to a tree by their wings. At the same time. Without killing any of them.
Emily Cordalith
No one can ever get away with anything around her. It’s gone from impressive to downright scary. Her luck is insane and her perception stat is so high, she literally caught Haley attempting to build a prank before Haley had even thought about it.
Aerin Curridan
Her photographic memory is the best in the team. Yes, even better than Petra’s and Ascella’s. Aerin can name all of the ingredients in any draught, potion, or recipe Lyria has ever made after half-looking at a page for less than a second. Lyria loves this because she is scatterbrained as hell.
Haley
People think Lyria is the only cook in Olvara’s Pocket, but Haley can cook just as well if not better. They can actively pick apart a dish, tell you all of the ingredients, how old the food is, and the flavor profiles of the dish after one bite.
Marasenna
Senna would NEVER say this out loud, but Senna is a fashionista. She likes her tomboy style and if word ever got out she would be furious, but she knows how to make and rock an outfit like nobody’s business. The funny thing is that everyone else knows and asks for advice, but Senna hasn’t picked up on it yet.
Verity Xanderia
Lyria and Verity bond over their love for nature and what’s crazy is that Verity knows exactly what every creature is and where it lives. Lyria thinks it’s cute.
Ascella Ylteryn
No one has ever beaten Ascella at chess. Ever. Haley came close once, but then Ascella got serious. Ascella also knows better than to cheat because there are too many bright minds in the hold. Petra’s still mad about this.
Teyra Fellspark
Teyra was a VERY active child and had a very supportive uncle, so they are a very talented gymnast and parkour junkie. She spends a lot of time in the rafters, out on the walls, and in all of the unique areas of the castle, so he loves to exhaust all of his creative avenues. They also have a surprising green dragon parentage, so Teyra is not only immune to poison and acid, but can identify them based on taste and smell.

Needed a breather from full length stories. Also, kinda blocked on how I wanna write Ascella’s arc. So imma do this instead. Keep in mind: at this point in their stories, they are all teammates, not exactly lovers or partners so for all intents and purposes, all of these people are single. @ebevkisk
How Marasenna feels about her teammates:
Petra Naverrian
Senna and Petra have a respect for each other. They have lived long lives despite still being so young, so they trust each other implicitly. Petra is also the only non-dragon to beat Senna in a straight-up fight, so Senna feels close to her in that regard.
Lyria Peregrine
They have a symbiotic relationship. Senna LOVES food and Lyria loves making food. Lyria is also kinda the group mom, so Senna vents a lot to her about things. Senna also is very good at bringing Lyria out of her shell, so it works out.
Emily Cordalith
An example of opposites attract. Senna is a wild child and Emily is a very centered and focused individual. Somehow, this makes them a very unique pairing that works well together.
Aerin Curridan
Senna admires Aerin’s peaceful and stoic energy. She knows Aerin follows a war patron, but Senna has never met anyone who was literally like a warm cup of chai tea on a snowy snowy evening like Aerin is.
Verity Xanderia
Something unsettles Senna about Verity. Verity carries an aura of confusion and power that Senna does not understand, but it feels very old and very dangerous and as such, Senna keeps her distance.
Haley
Madness incarnate. Senna is Haley’s enabler. Senna encourages so much creativity and chaos out of them that it’s insane what shenanigans they can get up to when they spend too much time together.
Ascella Ylteryn
Surprisingly, these two are very close friends. Ascella finds herself around Senna more often than not. Even if they aren’t talking, they find comfort in each other’s presence.
Teyra Fellspark
If anyone in the hold could give Senna butterflies, its 100% Teyra. These two have the most wholesome relationship. Teyra is the soft spoken and loving softie to Marasenna’s wild instigator and Teyra has an ability to calm Senna down that no one else has mastered. Also, both tend to turn beet red when around each other, but they haven’t figured that out yet.

Part two. Doing one for each character. Plus this helps me iron out how my OCs feel about one another. @ebevkisk
How Emily feels about her teammates:
Petra Naverrian
Best friends. Emily usually is a fairly calm and collected individual. All of that goes away when it’s just her and Petra. She becomes a bit of a snuggle bug when Petra is around. Petra also taught Emily how to conjure a seeing eye familiar, a bat named Olive, so they are uniquely bonded.
Lyria Peregrine
Lyria is usually the mom friend when everyone else is around. Emily and Lyria together? Recipe for disaster. Neither of them can hold their liquor and both are very bubbly drunks. Very fun for everyone involved.
Aerin Curridan
They really don’t talk much. That’s not to say they don’t know each other EXTREMELY well, but Emily can read Aerin’s emotions and Aerin has worked with more than enough people to know how to read Emily’s thoughts and subtle facial expressions. They don’t talk, but they DO say a lot to each other.
Verity Xanderia
The most polarizing friendship in the hold. Emily loves being in the water. It helps her get out of her head for a few minutes. Verity also knows better than to hide things from Emily. Verity’s emotions are on full display for ONLY Emily and they have a weird flavor of trust.
Marasenna
Emily keeps Senna calm. Emily senses so much in Senna that she struggles to keep a lid on her emotions when Senna’s around. It doesn’t mean they aren’t friends, but it does limit Emily’s exposure to Senna.
Haley
Two very different, clashing world perspectives. Haley’s life is logic, science, and analysis. Emily is very much emotion, conjecture, and sympathy. This puts them at odds a lot of the time and makes it hard for them to get along.
Ascella Ylteryn
Death is their bread and butter. These two are a deadly combo. Think Emily Kaldwin and Corvo Attano. Two very focused and intelligent beings that could dismantle governments. The best liars in the business. They also communicate very well and have similar thought patterns, which makes them very good friends.
Teyra Fellspark
Sparring partners. They also are the cool heads of the group, so they often have the most relaxing conversations. They also are the most centered and attentive, so they usually pick up on the most smallest details. Put Aerin with them and there is NO way anybody is getting away with anything.

Part three. This is too fun and it’s giving me some stories to explore. It also helps me know where their relationship is gonna start so that I can build from there. @ebevkisk
How Ascella feels about her teammates:
Petra Naverrian
Ascella sees Petra as a hypocrite. Both hemocraft and necromancy are taboo in Cor Varias and the fact that they both abuse these and Petra continues to dismiss Ascella as beyond help despite needing hers fills her with a deep annoyance that stops them from even considering friendship. Both are unaware how similar they are.
Lyria Peregrine
Lyria is naturally curious (pun intended). Ascella and Lyria are an interesting pairing because they both come from the fringes of society and they are both interested in where the other person came from. Ascella also shows her softer sides to Lyria unintentionally.
Emily Cordalith
The person that Ascella usually finds herself standing next to in meetings. Emily is surrounded by a very unique aura of death that excites her. Ascella also can’t hide anything from Emily and she knows it, so she feels herself relax around her.
Aerin Curridan
Study buddies. Ascella once was reading in the lounge and accidentally speaking out loud and Aerin overheard and offered her opinion. Not only did it help, but Ascella started coming to Aerin when she needed to brainstorm. Aerin thinks it’s sweet.
Verity Xanderia
Nightmare combo in a good way. Verity, being a master of the mind and Ascella, a master of the soul? This spells trouble. These two get along famously and can be surprisingly wholesome despite their grim specialties. Ascella also sees Verity in a very honest light and it’s endearing to Ascella.
Marasenna
Ascella knows Senna’s reputation as well as circumstances. They make for very good friends and Ascella feels like she can be vulnerable around her. Weird because of how much of a chaos gremlin Senna is, but she does a surprisingly good job.
Haley
Evil geniuses. They spend a lot of time together. A lot of it is in a lab and it’s like two kids in a playhouse. Bouncing ideas off of each other and talking about how the world works. If Ascella had a brain twin, it would be Haley.
Teyra Fellspark
Ascella sees Teyra as her silence friend. You ever have those moments where you and a friend just sit in dead quiet and just be in each other’s space? That’s how these to are. Teyra doesn’t seem to mind and even enjoys it to some degree.

@ebevkisk
The Pocket Queers’ Worst Weaknesses
Petra Naverrian
She’s a perfectionist. No one left behind, no task undone, no trace of evidence. Often, she wears herself out because her brain won’t allow her to do anything halfway. This regularly conflicts with her inability to find motivation.
Lyria Peregrine
The most trusting of the bunch. This can often be a boon, but it functions just as well as a fault as it does a strength. She sees the good in people and, as good as her insight is, she wants more than anything to believe that people aren’t as bad as they act.
Emily Cordalith
She can be a very cold individual. Her ability to sense emotion as well as her trauma earlier in life made it hard to really feel much of anything, so it’s hard for her to open up about what she’s feeling. Often, it comes off as a lack of care or apathy.
Aerin Curridan
Introverted to a fault. Kind of a lone wolf to some degree and has a little bit of social anxiety thrown in there, so interacting with people is kinda hard.
Haley
Does not like asking for or accepting help. The rest of their crew can attest. They are a very independent creature and doesn’t like people touching their projects or problems, so they get bogged down by their own struggles frequently.
Marasenna
Bullheaded and reckless. She may be a dragon, but her stubbornness and reckless behavior can really cause rifts between her and her teammates as well as put her in mortal danger.
Verity Xanderia
She doesn’t think much of herself. She can be fairly self-deprecating and sees herself as more of a tool other people can use as opposed to a person with hopes and dreams. Everyone else tries to help, but it’s a long process.
Ascella Ylteryn
HUBRIS. One of the few in the hold that actually struggles with this. Her ego is hard to work around and she holds a very high opinion of herself. However, this also puts her at odds with a lot of people and makes it very hard to get along with people.
Teyra Fellspark
A creature that can’t say no. It’s so hard for them to not help people as much as they can. It becomes a severe burden the more they say yes and it’s hard for them to stand up to themselves.

Little bit of an anxiety kind of a day, so hopefully this can help calm me down a little. @ebevkisk
What Aerin thinks of her teammates:
Petra Naverrian
The most siblingesque relationship here. Aerin thinks of Petra as a younger sister (despite being younger than her). She’s very protective and will often feel her protective instinct kick in when she’s being threatened.
Lyria Peregrine
Schoolgirl crush. Aerin rarely gets nervous, but Lyria has something about her that makes her all anxious and bashful. Aerin also wishes she knew how to cook, so Lyria gives her lessons.
Emily Cordalith
Emily makes Aerin nervous, but for the opposite reason. Aerin knows the kind of effect Multanith had on her and also knows that Emily can sense emotions. It’s less a dislike and more of a “I really don’t want this getting out until I can learn to control it” type of deal, so it takes all of Aerin’s charisma to hold it together in front of Emily.
Verity Xanderia
Gossip partners. Aerin can’t help it. Verity is really good at dishing and reading people like Aerin, so it only stands to reason that tea is indeed spilt when these two are together. Nothing mean (usually) but they definitely have a close bond because of it.
Marasenna
Aerin is protective of Petra and knows that Marasenna is a force of nature. She also knows that Senna can have a bit of a temper especially when she doesn’t like what she’s told to do. Aerin also knows what happened to Senna and, if Senna is anything like her, both of them are in deep trouble if they go off at the same time.
Haley
These two butt heads. A lot. Which is funny for a couple reasons. Haley somehow brings out the little bit of non-zen energy that runs counter to everything everyone knows about Aerin and you’d think they’d get along with how intelligent they both are. Haley is the only one that’s ever gotten Aerin to raise her voice. They don’t know it, but it’s because they are practically the opposite of each other.
Ascella Ylteryn
Aerin likes how Ascella helps her feel included. Aerin is a Paladin/Barbarian, so it’s rare when someone comes to her for help with magic, but Aerin knows more than enough about magic and strategy to help Ascella jog more ideas loose and it makes her feel special.
Teyra Fellspark
The dynamic duo. Senna and Teyra get along because they complement each other. Aerin and Teyra get along because they literally clicked day one. Aerin and Teyra spend a lot of time together and have become good drinking buddies.

18+ Blog!!!
(I block people for not having an age in their bio! Doesn’t have to be your exact age, but I need at least an honest indication you’re not a minor)
My array of characters is slowly growing, but I love them dearly. I write about them a lot (and post them on @petra-naverrians-diary), but I’m always ready to answer questions and do asks about them, so please do so I can practice my writing them and explore more of their development.
Character List:
-Petra Naverrian (she/they): A 529-year-old transfem bisexual blood cleric nephalem who doesn’t look a day over 25. She dabbles in magic and fighting while navigating the life she never had as she rids the world of despots and people who seek to destroy free will.
-Lyria Peregrine (she/her): A 26-year-old lesbian Druid Huntress. She was scratched as a teenager and became a werestag. She became a disciple of Veloria, goddess of nature and spiders, and has been a protector of the wilds ever since.
-Emily Cordalith (she/they): A 27-year-old blind demisexual monk from the far away realm of Hell’s Kitchen, New York, hunting a tyrant of the Abyss who stole her sight and turned her student. She has a talent for not only sensing but seeing strong emotions through colors that appear on the darkness that is her sight.
-Aerin Curridan (she/her): A 28-year-old asexual daughter of a War Deity who set out to be the world’s protector. Now, she searches for answers after being enchanted with an ancient madness by one of the world’s greatest villains.
-Verity Xanderia (she/her): A deep sea mermaid pansexual sorcerer with powers to distort the mind and perception of those she interacts with. 28 and a vicious manipulator, she fell prey to a lonely cleric who gave her what she wasn’t prepared for: love, attention, and affection.
-Haley the Tiefling (they/them): A non-binary sapiosexual artificer-gunslinger who was betrayed by their hometown’s crime syndicate. They dabble in enchantment, but mostly rely on their own skills and Pegs, their automaton.
-Marasenna, the Purveyor of Nightmares (she/her): An adult lesbian dragon fairly early in her lifespan. 150 years young, but strikes a deep fear into the hearts of her enemies. She hunts, with the help of her best friend (and crush), Teyra, Paraios, the Elder Brain Dragon, who banished her mothers and uncle from the face of her home plane.
-Ascella Ylteryn (they/she): An abrosexual necromancer from the astral plane wanted on several counts of insurrection, assassination of political leaders, resisting arrest, and raising the dead for malicious purpose. Ascella wants nothing more than to perfect her craft and rid the world of those that seek to take advantage of the less-than-lucky.
-Teyra Fellspark (any pronouns): Marasenna’s bisexual best friend and head of the Dissident Veil, leaders of the Draconic population. An intimidating gold dragon and a natural born leader, Teyra leads searches for the betrayer that stole her father from her while struggling with her feelings for Marasenna.

In case the very few people that care about the Sword Baes Universe, I figured I’d kinda explain how their polycule is organized at the moment. This is liable to change if @queencharliesshadow aka @sapphic-alcina-dimitrescu adds anything or wants Némain to formally date and/or marry them, but this is how it’s organized as far as relationships go.
Married:
Petra and Lyria
Petra and Némain
Petra and Alcina
Lyria and Némain
Lyria and Alcina
Dating:
Petra and Emily
Petra and Verity
Verity and Emily (not canon yet)
Lyria and Aerin (not canon yet)
If Mébh has anything to add here that I’m missing, we’ll use this as a thread most likely to flesh out all of the ties here.

Facts about my OC’s while I’m on Vacation:
Petra actually doesn’t wield weapons. 450 years ago, she found the only two crafted creations known as the Lucid Armscubes. They are fidget cube sized artifacts that can shift into the shape of any weapon stored within the user’s mind. She also uses them as actual fidget cubes because she ADHD as Fuuuuuuck.
Lyria is terrified of cockroaches. The Wildmother is confused. Everyone can’t stop laughing about it.
Emily can weaponize necrotic energy. She just doesn’t very often because she doesn’t need to. She may be blind, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t strong as all hell.
Aerin could recite the entirety of Pride and Prejudice by heart. WITH all of the character voices.
Verity got defeated by a cup of water once. Sure, Petra summoned an octopus to break her concentration, but that doesn’t mean she’ll ever let her live it down.
Haley functions in their room as if Tony Stark was an enby tiefling that could do Dr. Strange’s job. They are a super genius that can think faster than the gods themselves and even the world’s greatest arcanists would lose every round of Jeopardy to them.
Marasenna has two personalities living inside her. I know I’ve broached this before, but you need to understand. Her trauma as part of the Recindment crafted a second personality, also known as Marasenna, that took over to do the scarring duties as their Show of Power. Senna’s split is cold and indifferent to the world and has no qualms about doing the dirty work Senna won’t.

Guilty Pleasure OC Facts:
Petra hides her love of stuffed animals from her partners. She has a Bag of Holding full of them. No one has found it. Yet.
Lyria loves hentai art. Everyone knows about it, but for obvious reasons, no one brings it up. She does enjoy it for the art quality. Sometimes.
Emily sneaks away every few weeks to hold her title as the figure skating champion of the region. She is beauty, she is grace.
Aerin loves RomComs. Everyone knows, she’s just not good at hiding it.
Verity would never be caught dead swimming. She also swims 5 days a week.
Haley is known for being the most technologically advanced member of the house, so it continues to elude Emily as to why she has a massive CD collection that she tries to keep hidden.
Marasenna, Third of her line, Purveyor of Nightmares, Queen of the Damned, Shade of the Northern Wastes, and the Root from Which All Fears Stem, watches Miraculous religiously. No one dares call her out on it because they support her interests. And no one dares mess with a full-blooded dragon.
