This rendition of the traditional Christmas tune, sung by Lisa Vischer (wife of Phil Vischer and voice of Junior Asparagus) in the absence of Rebecca St. James, was used at the end of The Star of Christmas. It has never had an official release (as far as I'm aware), so the dialogue and sound effects at the beginning would have to be cleaned up and removed in order for this to be on CD-level.

Honestly one of the best parts about Minding Q's is when the characters all start quoting and referencing random pieces of media and then I get to see which readers have a similar sense of humor

I'm sorry but after getting a good look at Aaron and Miles G's Prowler suits, I can't help burst out laughing. You got Miles G coming out with the popped collar bomber jacket, spray-painted icon and wearing air jordan 1 utility nikes and some kind of LED mask with respirators that closes back over his neck idk? But then you got Aaron wearing the most party city ass ghost costume with the veggietales larry-boy's mask and the Papyrus cape and I just can't-

I used to wonder if any Jews had ever seen Veggietales then I found this article and that's how I found out the Esther episode of Veggietales also counts as a Purim special

Which do you prefer: Avenger or Rockstar?
I know this is a bogus answer, but I would really say it depends! Avenger has really nice covers, but pretty basic show content. I love the avenger tapes, but the banter is super bare bones and the footage is more often than not just more of the cyberstar "walkarounds running around a public place" hijinks. Rockstar has avenger beat in that regard. the puppets! The more fleshed out cast! Chuck has his ptt temper back! There are original stories going on, and themed seasonal shows that entice you to keep coming back. Even with the reused content, I love it being a little tradition of mine to come back and see the summer of fun/bootacular/holiday show with my pals. In terms of core memories, over all presentation, and iconicness though? Avenger is my absolute favorite for sure. It's the default character lineup in my brain. Early 2000s are my favorite showtapes to sit down and watch, mostly based on vibes, I do this all the damn time. I miss the goofy walkarounds and Duncan Brannan and veggietales and monkey ninjas when I go too long without watching an avenger tape. I've asked for avenger merchandise for, like, the past three birthdays. Overall- I think Rockstar probably has the better content. I LOVE rockstar shows. But Avenger feels like home!

The catholics are seething over an anime girl. She's not an official mascot or icon she's like the characters from veggietales.
For what I have seen it’s not the Catholics who are mad, but the evangelists/fundamentalists who are.
Tumblr media
I honestly like her very much, and am hoping for figurines to arrive here in December so I can have one in my room to annoy my fiance, for who, in her words, represents “more idolatry for the Catholic Church”
She’s an evangelist btw hehe.

Welcome to the BEAN BRACKET
Hello!
Inspired by other irl-thing brackets, like @mosticonicbirdcallbracket, @ultimateinstrumentpoll, @best-appliance-tournament, @bestvegetablepoll, @jewishfoodshowdown and @object-tournament, I've decided to launch a bracket for an all time worldwide favourite- the bean! She does so much for us- without her here, we wouldn't have coffee, hummus, enfrijoladas, or miso soup! Can you imagine such an awful world?
RULES:
cullinary and coloqial beans are both allowed! So kidney beans are allowed, but so are jumping beans (not actually beans)
Fictional beans are allowed, but real beans will take priority unless they're super iconic. Ditto bean-themed toys and confections.
No characters, human or otherwise, UNLESS they are literally a bean. Like an actual legume.
Complex foods/dishes prepared with beans won't be included. If you love tofu, submit the soybean, and use the preparation as propaganda instead!
Foods that are simply new states of bean (hah) like refried beans or Heinz baked beans may be considered.
Propaganda allowed and encouraged, please tag this blog in propaganda/bean recipie posts!
Askbox submissions won't be counted, please use the google form.
Bracket:
Tumblr media
Matchups under the cut:
Coffee beans vs black beans
chickpeas/garbanzo beans vs Edamame shiba (Mameshiba)
Jellybeans vs the bean from VeggieTales : Lord of the Beans
Human Beans (us) vs Orca beans
toebeans vs soybeans
Scarlet Runner Beans vs Flickin' the bean
kidney beans vs Adzuki/red beans
Cocoa beans vs Vanilla beans

Since One Piece will be slow for a bit anyways, how about a somewhat holiday themed detour? There are a few other big fantasy worlds that have left a mark on me, but one that stuck with me for so long is The Chronicles of Narnia. One I'm sad to see seems to be fading into memory. Always feels like the known fact it draws a lot from CS Lewis's devout Christianity turns people off without giving it a fair shake. It's definitely Christian-inspired but as much drawing from European folklore and honestly...it's a disservice to act like Narnia's pulling the same preachy tone as Veggietales.
Order of the books is always a fun talking point. The reality Lewis did not release them in chronological order. First time revisiting this in a while and I forgot how fun his narration style is. We're doing this chronologically, so that'd mean starting with The Magician's Nephew. A prologue that only makes sense if you know what comes after. Imagine if One Piece opened with the Oden flashback.
The story is a nice origin point for the land of Narnia and the iconic lion Aslan's song of creation is a beautiful passage. So many fun little seeds for things you'd recognize if you read this at the "proper" point of just before the finale. A good reflection point before The Last Battle. But for me? This one sticks with me because holy shit CS Lewis would be able to write some amazing RPG sourcebooks. Flexing the worldbuilding a bit and having fun with it. The Wood Between the Worlds (something I use in my TTRPG multiverse) and the intoxicating tranquility of it all, the dead world of Charn and the unsettling Hall of Images. The feel of the totally not Garden of Eden and it's a great example of one thing I admire about Lewis's writing here. I like how he plays coy with the narration, like admitting he can't quite capture a translated poem's beauty. It's a cool effect, letting your mind wander and leaving a little mystery to things mortals aren't supposed to understand.

I'm so sorry it's taken me so long to upload the drawing tutorial thing- I haven't had spoons to finish the captions.
I will be updating the icon to Summer so we can cap off the season in style, and as for the daily facts (which I haven't updated in a long time either... 😰) I'm planning to do those on my own time and own pace, starting soon. They may be random or they may still be in original episode order, I'm trying to decide.
Thank you for being so patient! I'm glad you've been enjoying the miscellaneous uploads, especially Shakespearian Larry (1000+ notes?!?!). Let's keep keeping VeggieTales alive.
