So late to this train, but...

During Vegas Con 2016, the boys are asked how they knew their partners were the one. Watch how uncomfortable they get!

Jared: “Jared and Jensen, when did you first meet your future ex-wives?” He’s jesting, obviously, but I would never joke about something like that. The thought of my boyfriend being my future ex is just too horrid.

Jared thinks long and hard for what to say, eventually finding the words. He speaks of a she while Jensen sits next to him with a stony expression on his face. He talks of how he didn’t want to see anyone else after their first date, about how he feels loved even when he can’t love himself and how (s)he makes him a better person. He can’t look at Jensen while he speaks, but once he’s done, he pats Jensen’s knee as if to say “You know you’re the one for me, don’t be fooled by the pronoun.”

Meanwhile, Jensen has had time to think. Watch how different his response is! He holds eye contact with Jared, carefully keeping any gender pronouns out of his reply. He speaks of how his partner was somewhere in between destiny and a leap of faith (makes sense, as Jensen is said to be a little reserved), but he does not regret choosing to take a chance with the partner of his choice.

Phew. I’m getting some serious chills down my spine from watching this. I get the feeling they’re not really talking about their wives here. Jared is just too careful not to look at Jensen, as if he fears losing composure. Jensen, on the other hand, is solid as a rock, as if standing in support of his man. It feels like he’s convincing Jared, “You’re my one, too. We’ve been through so much, but I don’t regret choosing you.”

FLASHBACK TO JULY 19TH 1982; JARED TRISTAN PADALECKI CAME INTO THIS EARTH. Let me tell you something about this man, just listen to me here. PSA: The date I'm typing this is 5/14/16, 34 days before His birthday. Today i had one of those days where I suddenly doubt everything about our perception of J2 and their lives, like - who are we to assume their WIVES are fake, how preposterous is that - i get like that sometimes. And then I recalled Jensen's unbelievably elaborate and well-crafted and COMPLETELY gender-neutral, pronoun-less answer to a question about his wife, and I have no doubts. None. I'm good at the no-pronouns game but that was masterful. Any chance you could help me find which con that was?

Hello, dear anon!

I used to get those days as well, but over time they’ve become more and more irregular and now it seems the days no longer come at all. Whenever I did have those days, the other part of my brain would attack me with “explain this, this, this and that and tell me again how straight they are.” I never could. 

The con you mentioned is Vegas 2016, the main panel. As it happens, one of my very first posts here was about that exact response. Here’s the link, if you’re interested! This was definitely one of the moments that polished my newly acquired headgear and encouraged me to keep looking deeper into their relationship. And hoo boy, there’s so much to see! 

Darling anon, it’s totally normal to have doubts. It only shows that you’re actively thinking and challenging your brain. We live in a world with very few absolutes and the only way to unravel the truth is weighing the evidence from all sides. Keep doing that in all aspects of life and I’m sure you’ll thrive! My Misha photo op,

In reality my photo op was nothing special, but to me it was anything but. I walked up to Misha and said “Just a hug” he shrugged, smiled and said “Okay” then wrapped me in a nice hug. I’ll admit I look awkward in the first photo, but only because I was so nervous. I thanked him and walked off, was grabbed by a staff member and was told that I blinked. So I got to hug Misha again?! No question here. I walked up all awkward and said “I blinked” he chuckled and wrapped me in a squishy hug, it was the best. He said “Thank you” and I ran to my mom and tried to hold back excitement tears. (I later on got both of the photos to my amazement, both of which I love.) 

For my Autograph op I walked up and Misha said, “Hello again” (I had asked him a question during the panel so maybe he remembered me from that, I hope my question wasn’t insulting...anyways) I handed Misha my photo upside down to which he looked at me questionably, I asked if he could draw some hearts, that I was going to get them tattooed for the You Are Not Alone campaign. He smiled, said, “That’s so great” (Or something to that aspect TBH I don’t remember) and continued to draw some hearts and sign his name (which he didn’t have to do) I thanked him and as he handed me the photo he said “I like your hair!” Then I died; I’m not really sure how long the whole interaction went on but it was the best and Misha is the sweetest. I thanked him and left the table..well ran across the convention room to be exact.

The tattoo wasn’t just for the YANA campaign or even Misha himself, it was mostly for the fandom. I have never felt more at home than when surrounded by all the people who love supernatural. The show is so deep and the family bond that is instilled in this fandom amazes me. I wanted a reminder that I’m not alone in depression and that I’m not alone in loving Supernatural. I will treasure this tattoo and fandom always.
