so @evakant and i are doing an origins playthrough ratatouille-style where she's remy and i'm linguini (all the decisions are hers, i'm just there to do all the combat and movement). our new child is an f!mahariel and we've JUST arrived at ostagar. i hope none of you will spoil the game for her!!!!!!!! but i wanted to share some of my fav commentary from her today, because it's so CUTE <3

[on saying 'i wanted to be with you, of course'] well i don't want him to give him an ego, let's be mean to him

[on tamlen touching the mirror] TAMLEN youre gonna get in TROUBLE

[on talking to marethari] i guess we have to get tamlen back. he's like our little dog

[on talking to paivel] oh my god i dont know anything about the dales?! can i make it up?!

[on talking to master ilen] i love how we've looted everything from our own camp to sell it back to him

[on bringing fenarel with us when merrill tells us off for not asking marethari first] i dont wanna lie to her.... [3 seconds later] do we actually HAVE to ask the keeper [3 seconds after getting permission] HAH take THAT merrill

[on seeing duncan] he's so beautiful i can't look at the screen 😳

[on getting conscripted] like i wanna live so thanks but they're FORCING me to join the wardens and i dont like that!!!!

[on cailan] i DONT like that he's called us friend

[on cailan again] aw he's an airhead <3

[on hearing loghain's name] [bc im always loghainposting] IT'S MY FRIEND!!! MY BEST FRIEND, LOGHAIN!!!

my fav bits:

we (francesca as the remy to my linguini) decided to be polite to cailan & immediately picked a fight with the chantry mother and cackled when she called us a heathen

francesca said the ash warriors were weird and full of themselves, and she's so right. we're going to sell kaddis to the first darkspawn who will barter with us

she was Extremely Worried about the genlock they had in the middle of camp because it was unclear whether it was dead or unconscious. we tried to tell duncan about it but there were no options to do so :/ we looked for rope to at least tie the darkspawn up but nope.

my ellise mods and my lydia mods clashed for loghain so her commentary was "he's ugly but that's so valid. he has a nice voice". i WILL convince her. she also said it was clear cailan and loghain were close, so she wouldn't insult cailan to his face.

we wanted to join the mage camp party bc they looked like they were having a good time but the icky templars wouldn't let us. no one would explain what the fuck the fade was until we read the codex. we finally met a mage - wynne. francesca, after picking the "don't you have any proper advice" option and wynne gets annoyed with us: we literally asked her for proper advice and she got mad. we're asking her BECAUSE she's older than us, that's the point. [after reading wynne's codex entry] she has APPRENTICES but she can't answer our questions?!

we met the tranquil and francesca is horrified by the rite of tranquility. "it's like when people get lobotomised" & "but that makes no sense - he's tranquil because he "has no talent to become a mage" but the right of tranquility takes away his "talents" so there must have been talents already there? so did he have mage talents or not?" and then she was like "i need to stop talking to you now this is so depressing"

we tried 4 times to go to the korcari wilds before duncan told us to because, i repeat, we HAVE to save the dog!!!!!! and when we GOT to the wilds she was like ok i know we have to find the darkspawn blood and those treaties but FIRST. the FLOWER. for the DOG.

alistair slipped up and said "if you surv-" and francesca SHRIEKED in pure outrage like "SURVIVE?!?! DID HE SAY IF I SURVIVE?!?!? oh my god we're dead"

duncan was talking about how we need to get darkspawn blood and there's a small pause before fran goes "i'm in love with duncan" which is very valid and fair

francesca: "you've killed SO many wolves" me: "i am a THREAT to the ECOSYSTEM"

francesca: "i love it when the dead bodies drop coins. it makes me so happy."

we met morrigan and she was immediately like OH MY GOD WHO IS THAT!!! WHO IS THAT!!!!!! and she was staring so long that it took about 15 seconds before she noticed the first set of response options to morrigan

daveth: "she's a witch of the wilds! she'll turn us into toads!" me & francesca: "i can be her toad!!!!"

alistair: [complaining about morrigan] francesca: alistair dont talk like that to morrigan she's my new best friend

alistair: you stole them [the warden treaties]! francesca: alistair what do you think WE'VE been doing this entire time

alistair: be careful, first it's i like you... then zap! frog time. francesca: i WANT the frog time, what's not clicking here

on meeting da2-modded flemeth: [spends 30 seconds ignoring the response options to stammer]

on jory: he's a wimp but he has a right to be upset, since has a wife and kids. it's not fair he didn't get a choice

after the joining: we're going to confront duncan on what he did to jory!!!!! [after duncan explains] ur lucky ur hot....

THE TENSION IN THIS SCENE IS JUST IMMACULATE there’s like SUCH a different vibe between this version and the donghua. In the donghua lwj is very worried he almost has this soft edge to when he pleads for wwx to come back with him however wwx misunderstands him as wanting to punish him for his new found cultivation

As for this version, lwj is still worried yes but he’s much more forceful and almost aggressive in his concern which causes wwx to become defensive in a way that he NEVER gets with lwj which is just so fucking upsetting to watch good lord

im gonna be honest. my canon was an exiled alistair but king alistair content is really getting to me. the tragedy. the longing. the betrayal. the inevitability of it all. they were so in love and they were doomed from the start. there was no way this could've gone any other way because of who they are except it could have been different, if they were different. refusing to forgive the other person but never thinking they themselves should be sorry. they were in love and now they're not and they have to live with that.

im going to THROW UP. this is actually WORSE than if i got him exiled because they have to live with this now. i am in MOURNING

thinkin abt kal's origin pt where she talks to those kids playing in the alienage and they ask her if she knows abt any elven heroes and the only option she has is to make one up because she doesn't know any. thinkin abt how she can ask duncan if he knows any elven grey wardens, how she doesnt know about garahel (bc where would she have learned this? who would she have learned it from?) - but also how i skipped asking duncan questions after that initial conversation with valendrian so actually she doesnt even know about garahel bc she never even got to ask duncan. thinkin about how she asks alistair if he knows any elven grey wardens and he answers her question but she doesnt get the answer she really wants. how she grew up in denerim, told her entire life that she's nothing, her people were something once and it doesn't matter because they're nothing now. how she grew up in denerim, under the shadow and memory of maric the saviour and the hero of river dane -- a no one, a nothing, just like her, but nothing like her, but just like her -- and his night elves, and how he freed ferelden from the tyranny of orlais against impossible odds. her desperation for some kind of connection to the world she lives in, but she's fucking invisible, until the only hero she's ever known tells her at ostagar not to let anyone make her feel like she doesn't belong

btw i brought this stupid man along to soldier's peak bc i wanted to hear his thoughts on sophia dryden and he didn't say ANYTHING right up to the end where he told kal "you've done well" for securing the keep as a base for the wardens w the most unnecessary and frankly inappropriate amount of warmth and pride so obviously kal died on the spot

ok im gonna stop my pt for now because my RSI is acting up but! i was hoping for more banter when i brought loghain along to soldier's peak but as i was playing it just now. so many delicious parallels between loghain and sophia dryden, funnily enough. it's so fucking good.
