Verb echo answers and ellipsis operations: A reply to Sato and Hayashi.
Recent research suggests that verb echo answers (VEAs) to a polar question in Japanese are derived by sluicing: the V head moves to C, and the complement of C, TP, undergoes deletion, stranding the verbal complex in C. Two pieces of evidence are provided for the view: adjunct inclusive interpretation and voice mismatch, neither of which is conclusive, as shown here. One consequence of the sluicing analysis is that VEAs reverse scope. We show that the semantic shift has nothing to do with the scope reversal. Our conclusion is that VEAs are unambiguously derived by multiple applications of argument ellipsis. We also advance an alternative explanation of the obligatory wide scope for focus phrases.

Thank you guys for reading this story and enjoying it! I was very excited when I wrote this chapter and I hope you'd like it too. For some reason Electric love by Børns was playing in my head the whole time as I wrote the reunion part. And the last lines are reference to the Sleepover by Hayley Kiyoko.
-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-
Abby spent her Sunday thinking and thinking and thinking. Even if she wanted to stop she just couldn't, spiralling into the rabbit hole of "does she like me? Do I like her? No, she doesn't like me. I do like her." on repeat. It was still hard to wrap her head around it - in two days her whole perception of herself just turned upside down. And it was good - it always feels good to get rid of this amount of guilt and shame - but it also left Abby in front of metaphorical crossroads and the obvious “what’s next?”.
Abby jumped from being so sure in her feelings to backtracking into “I just figured out my sexuality I need more time”, which was well, true - she did need more time to just..let the knowledge settle.
But you still weren’t home, and her thoughts were too focused on you. Yes, Abby just figured everything out, but the dam that kept her feelings unnoticed broke and now Abby felt everything. The itch she had in her hands before because she wanted to touch you? It was constant now. The desire to call you and just talk? Relentless. She never felt this way about anyone - which was understandable, it’s hard to fall in love with people you’d better be friends with - and the intensity of her feelings was scaring her at times.
Abby spent the first half of Sunday moping around while Ellie provided her silent emotional support and just played games with Abby to keep her occupied. But now and then she’d drift back into her spiralling.
“Abs, until you talk to her all your thoughts have some probability of happening. And it means you’re wasting time, okay? You need to chill.”
“Ellie. Two days ago I learned I’m gay and yesterday I realised I like my roommate. What chill are you talking about?”
“Okay, yeah, my bad. But this spin cycle won’t give any kind of results. Reflect all you want or whatever, but until you talk to her you won’t have an answer.”
“I’m not even sure I want one.”
“You want one, dude. Believe me.” Ellie said somehow menacingly, and Abby didn’t argue.
After Ellie left Abby tried to pick her thoughts apart again, but there was nothing new in her poor brain. Abby felt tired and not lost, but definitely in a dead end. So she decided to use one of her favourite coping mechanisms and hit the gym. The gym always helped, especially with emotions - Abby could box if she was angry or do compounds to concentrate on her form instead of her thoughts, she could stretch just to torture herself and concentrate on physical pain.
Abby packed her bag and went to the gym, hoping for some kind of relief and honestly? A fucking break. She was extremely tired of constant anxiety that changed to sweet memories of you and then changed back to anxiety. Abby wasn’t used to this, so it was taking a huge toll on her - a toll big enough to gain courage to tell you everything. Ellie was right - she needed an answer if she preferred to stay fucking sane.
And the gym helped. Abby did her safest routine, worried she’d get stuck in her head and hurt herself if she did something different, and while Abby was counting reps and measuring time for the rest period, she didn’t think of you. Her only concern was her form and the mental maths of how much weights she needed to place, how to breathe properly and how to place her feet correctly for the squats.
But the moment Abby left the gym, her thoughts were back. Maybe you already came back home? All your books for tomorrow were at home, you needed them, right? Did you have spare clothes at Cait’s? (where else you’d be? At Vi’s? Abby didn’t even want to entertain the idea, and really, it didn’t seem like you) Abby wasn’t sure if texting you would be a right move right now - she needed space and you probably needed it too. But fuck she missed you.
Abby checked her phone in case there are any messages from you, any messages, even if you'd call her a bitch or something. Just. Any indication you were still in her life.
But no. There was nothing, and the apartment was silent and empty when Abby came back.
Monday went over Abby's head, she couldn't concentrate on her classes which was very surprising: she could go with no sleep and still be present during lessons, but today all she could think about was you. The guilt and shame mixed with excitement and hope and it was driving her insane, being pulled apart by polar emotions like that. Now all these stupid stories from how painful it was to be in love finally made sense to Abby - before you she was never really in love with anybody, but now? Now all these tears and desperation and grand gestures made sense. Coming back to exes? Made sense, because she’d crawl back to you without a question. Forgiving anything? Made sense too.
Fuck, people were really right when they said how powerful love was and what things it made them do for it. And even if it was painful and confusing, Abby felt happy about it, as if her unbearable feelings were a proof of her own humanity. A lot of people before told her she was cold and heartless - Ellie joked about it a lot when Abby didn’t hesitate to tell someone who liked her to fuck off - and sometimes it got to her. Now though? Feeling the sharpest needle going through her heart when she thought of you telling her to fuck off? This pain made Abby feel alive.
Later at practice Abby saw Vi - they didn’t train with each other, different weights, but the days were the same - and Abby expected Vi to be angry at her, but not only Vi wasn’t angry, she actually looked at her sympathetically, as if she knew what was happening in Abby's soul. The guilt and shame were back - yes, Abby was still jealous and yes she still wanted to break every knuckle on Vi’s hands for touching you - but she was self-aware enough to understand that Vi wasn’t a part of this. It wasn’t Vi’s fault that Abby had issues.
And the thing was - Vi was actually fucking nice. Abby didn’t talk to her a lot, but she knew Vi’s story and she admired how hard-working she was and how she stayed herself after all the shit she’s been through. Ellie called her cool, and Ellie didn’t call anyone cool, so Abby felt like she fucked up here too.
But the stakes weren't that high - it wasn't like they were friends in the first place - so Abby decided to make amends. She braced herself for the uncomfortable conversation and went over to Vi's locker when they were changing.
"Hey." Vi looked at her, surprised, but she didn't seem hostile, so Abby continued. "I wanted to say sorry for the other day. I was an asshole for no reason."
"Don't stress." Vi smiled. "I wasn't offended."
"Yeah well. I still said some shit. Sorry again."
"It's okay." Vi seemed to hesitate before speaking next. "(Y/n) was really upset."
"Yeah. I know." Abby nodded, trying to conceal her hurt.
"Do you plan on talking to her?" Vi asked carefully again as she put her shirt on.
"Yes."
"Cool."
It seemed like the conversation was over and Abby went back to her locker, taking her bag out and putting her sweaty uniform inside. She felt relieved after that - if this went well, maybe it will go well with you too. Vi put her things in her bag and walked to the exit while Abby was still changing, deep in her thoughts.
"Have you figured it out yet? Why you got so angry?" Vi asked cautiously, stopping right before leaving.
Abby froze, surprised, as she stared at her t-shirt.
"Was it really that obvious?"
Vi shrugged.
"Kinda. You know, the spidey sense. It's not about your looks, it's just… you can tell."
"Gay aura." Abby smirked, remembering Ellie’s words.
"Gay aura." Vi chuckled. "Good luck, Abby."
"Thanks."
And her words were genuine.
You were still pretty shaken up after the fight - not because of the fight itself or Abby’s words, but because it felt like you were hit with reality in a way that broke your stupid rose coloured glasses. And for some reason it was hard to come to terms with the fact that you overestimated yourself: how you acted based on your emotions instead of using your fucking brain - which is understandable, people lose their brains when they’re in love - and the result was the same. You weren’t planning on confessing at all, instead trying to get over Abby, and it led to the same outcome - you two weren’t talking.
You kept thinking about if you made the right choice by never bringing up the “maybe you’re not so straight” topic with Abby - maybe you should have? Just very carefully? Just nudge her in the right direction? Was it too late to do that now?
Huh, what a fun conversation it could be “hey, maybe you were so angry at me not because I made you uncomfortable in your own home but because you’re gay and jealous?” (which was in fact Cait's entire point about this fight). Even if this would go well, Abby being gay didn’t equal Abby being gay for you.
God, what if Abby would start bringing girls over once she would be out? “Thanks (y/n) for helping me figure out my sexuality, now I’m going to fuck every gay girl on campus because I’m hot as fuck and they all drool over me”. Fuck.
At this point it was hard to differentiate between your rational thoughts and irrational thoughts: where did your concerns end and overthinking started? You felt confused and all over the place, and even though you knew the only way to fix it was to come home and face Abby, you were too much of a coward to do it.
Obviously you'd say you were sorry. And you would stop bringing girls over because she was uncomfortable with it and you weren't an asshole. But you felt like this talk would be only the cover of the real problem - this situation happened not because you were selfish (not entirely), but because you wanted to get over Abby as fast as possible. For some reason you felt like you had to tell Abby you were in love with her - otherwise you had a feeling you were taking advantage of her with the amount of touch and care that was between you. For you these hugs and cuddles and small kisses on your cheeks weren't platonic or friendly, and now when you finally admitted your defeat, you couldn't pretend it was something else.
So you had two choices: tell Abby you were in love with her and let her decide how to change her boundaries or distance yourself from her as far as possible. And if you were younger you'd probably choose the second option - it was way easier than being honest and getting rejected. But this way you'd lose her as a friend and leave both of you with hurt and anger towards each other. And Abby would probably call you out on this and you'd have to tell her what was wrong with you anyway.
So your only option was to confess and face whatever would come out of it. And it was scary.
That was the reason why instead of going home on Monday you still came back to Cait - you couldn't lie to Abby but you couldn't tell her the truth either, so, as one of the cartoon characters said, there was a third option: doing nothing. And you chose it.
Caitlyn wasn't happy with your choice, staring you down as you took your shoes off.
"You're running away from your problems."
"I'm doing nothing about my problems. There's a difference." You sighed tiredly and put your coat on the clothing rack.
Cait stared you down, frowning, but you didn’t have energy to argue with her, so you went straight for the shower. It didn’t help much with your thoughts, but the weight of your anxiety got smaller.
from: Vi
Abby just apologised to me
You stared at your phone as your feelings flooded your chest - Abby was stubborn but she was good. She was doing what was right, she fucking apologised to Vi, and here you were, too scared to face her. If Abby said sorry she felt guilty, and it meant she was hurting while you were hiding from her. You could wallow in misery all you wanted, but the thought that you were dragging Abby down with you made you feel sick. You loved her too much to let your fears hurt her.
to: Vi
How is she?
from: Vi
She got hit in the face
Three times
so
shitty
The guilt washed over you. For Abby to be this unfocused? It meant she was really worried and upset, and you needed to stop it. Fuck it if you couldn’t confess yet, but you needed to resolve this situation and stop indirectly torturing Abby.
to: Vi
Can we reschedule our lesson tomorrow?
from: Vi
Yeah no problem
You locked your phone and went over to Caitlyn, who was reading.
“I’m going home tomorrow.”
“Thank god.” Caitlyn rolled her eyes.
“She apologised to Vi.”
“Amazing.”
“By the way, can I give Vi your number?”
Caitlyn stopped reading and you noticed her pink blush. It was faint, but after years of friendship you knew what it was - you weren’t surprised, Vi was hot and Caitlyn thought she was smart, so of course your question got a reaction out of her.
“Aren’t you two involved?”
“We’re friends. If it’s a no it’s okay. I can totally see why it’d bother you.”
“It doesn’t bother me. I’m not an idiot, I’ve noticed how she looked at me.” Caitlyn was creepily observant and awfully honest. Thank god she didn’t embarrass Vi right then and there, because Cait was unhinged like that. “Give me her number, I’ll text her myself.”
“Cait, you’re terrifying.” You said honestly. “She is sweet, don’t hurt her.”
Caitlyn stared at you like you were an idiot and you just silently showed her Vi’s number so she could copy it.
Three days. It’s been three days since the fight and Abby was exhausted. She couldn’t even sleep, creeped out by the silence in your apartment, twisting and turning the whole night, and if she fell asleep she dreamt of you - either the fight played out differently (you didn’t leave and Abby confessed) or it was 100 and 1 scenario of your reunion.
But then Abby woke up and you weren’t there. She hated how quiet the place was.
At least Abby could concentrate during her classes, even though she opened her dms every 10 minutes trying to gain courage to text you. Why was it this hard? By the end of the day she chickened out and decided to text you if you wouldn’t be home today too. And for some reason Abby was sure you wouldn’t be home when she’d come from classes today. It seemed like you were still pretty mad at her - oh, that was why she was too afraid to text you. Abby - now calmed down, guilty Abby - was not prepared for your wrath if it was still there. And she’d prefer to have it fall on her in person than over a stupid text.
Abby opened the door to your apartment and froze right in the doorway. She could hear the TV from the living room, she saw the lights faintly lightning the hallway and fuck, there were your shoes.
You were home.
Abby took her shoes and her coat off in record time and stormed to the living room. You were sitting on the couch, your legs under you, and you smiled at her sheepishly, as if you weren’t sure that Abby’d be happy to see you. Abby took a deep breath as her heartbeat went absolutely crazy.
“You’re home.” Abby sighed, still so shocked she thought she was dreaming again, her bag falling from her shoulder to the floor with a thud.
“Hi.” You said in a small voice and Abby couldn’t take anymore - you were there and you were smiling at her and she missed you so fucking much.
Abby almost ran to you, scooping you in her arms as you yelped in surprise - fucking hell Abby was strong to pull you up like that.
“You’re home.” Abby murmured into your neck, breathing you in, the same spice and mint as always. You hugged her shoulders and breathed her in too - you missed her crazy. Abby was solid against you and her hand on the small of your back kept you pressed into her as if she was afraid you’d disappear. You clung to her, as you became aware how much you missed her warmth - how did you survive these three days without Abby?
“I’m sorry, I was so selfish.” You told Abby while she pressed you flush against her.
“God, I’m so sorry too, I didn’t mean a word of what I’ve said to you.” Abby said into your hair, her voice soft and quiet and full of remorse. You hummed, comforted by her arms around you, her blonde hair tickling your nose. Abby smelt like home, like someone who would protect you from anything and whatever she said to you on Saturday didn’t matter anymore.
Abby inhaled your scent and closed her eyes, basking in you. She physically couldn't let you go now when she's got you, knowing now why it felt so good to hold you and not being ashamed or anxious about it. Fuck. To hell with it, Abby's never been a coward.
"I figured my shit out." Abby's voice was steady, but her heart sounded like drums in her ears.
"What do you mean?" And your heart was not any better.
"You told me to figure my shit out. I did. I wasn't angry because you were disturbing me or something." Abby pressed you even closer, grounding herself in your presence. "I was jealous."
It was suddenly hard to breathe and you froze in Abby's arms. Did she mean what you thought she meant? God, please, let it be what you so desperately wanted it to be.
Abby moved away a little so she could look at you, because if Abby would get her heart broken now she at least could get it broken looking into your eyes.
"I like you." Abby breathed out and the wave of painful relief hit her. It was good to let it out, as if someone cut open an aching injury and yeah, she was bleeding, but it felt better.
Your brain fully shut down as your ears rang from her words - was it even real? Was it your Abby or another dream? But it was real, and Abby was looking at you, she was waiting for an answer and your own confession ripped out from your chest before you could stop yourself.
"I like you too." You felt your face heat up for some reason, but the way Abby’s eyes lit up made it all worth it.
Abby's eyes grew wide with surprise just before all her restraints crumbled. She took your face in her hands and did what she was literally dreaming about the past few nights - she kissed you. And everything exploded.
Your hands flew to Abby's face and you kissed her back desperately, pressing into her with all you had. Abby locked her arms around your waist so hard your back arched, she needed you close as badly as you needed her.
Abby never felt like this, like every move of your lips on hers set her alight and the hunger she never had before was suddenly making her greedy and desperate to touch you. As if under a spell, Abby pushed you to the couch until you hit it with the back of your knees and sat down so Abby could press you into the seat as you opened your mouth and let her tongue slip inside, making you both groan. Abby felt high from kissing you, the way you were all soft and gentle under her, but not delicate at all, she wasn’t afraid to hurt you because you were real and solid and your fingers on her neck were warm.
And it wasn't enough for Abby, she needed more, she needed to touch your bare skin - so she pushed her hand under your hoodie, kneading your side. You were warm and soft and your scent was all around her, and it was still not enough. She wanted to hear you make the same noise that you made that night for someone else - she wanted you to sigh and whimper and moan for her, she wanted to-
You pressed on her shoulders and Abby backed off, confused.
"We need to slow down." You panted, looking into Abby’s shiny eyes. She was blushing and panting as well, her hand was still on your naked waist, riding up your hoodie enough for her to see your lower stomach. Abby’s eyes went dark as she flicked her eyes from your face to your stomach and back.
"Yeah."
You both didn't move, staring at each other. Abby didn’t want to stop, she wanted to kiss you and touch you and if someone would move away first it would definitely not be her. And then you kissed Abby again, bringing her as close as possible, giving up on any rational thought in your head. You were weak, so when Abby pushed you down on the couch you happily spread your legs for her, getting wet in your pants from how delicious it felt to be opened like that. Abby’s hands roamed across your sides and your hips, groping and kneading your body as if she couldn’t get enough - and she truly couldn’t, appreciating every soft fold she made, every hard ridge digging into her palm. You sighed into her mouth and Abby just needed to press you down into this couch, moving one of her hands to caress your thigh and pull you closer. You felt dizzy, high on Abby's confident, hungry touch, the perfect balance of gentle and rough, so deliciously Abby. No one could touch you like that, like you were hers, your body and your soul, without a hesitation. Abby took what she wanted and you drank it all up.
Abby kissed your jaw and moved down to your neck, leaving an open mouthed kiss just below your ear and you let out a surprised sigh - and Abby’s brain fucking melted. She left more kisses, all shamelessly open, her hot tongue brushing over your skin just to hear you sigh like that. Abby pushed your thighs up so you could close them around her waist and slipped her hand back under your hoodie, getting dangerously close to your tits. That broke the spell on you, bringing you back to reality.
“Abby, wait.” You asked, not comfortable with how fast it was going. Abby looked up to you, waiting for what you wanted to tell her. “We really need to chill.” You caressed her cheek, taking a deep breath to calm yourself down.
Abby wanted to protest, but the horny fog started leaving her head and she understood how overboard she went just now, jumping you like this the moment you reciprocated her feelings. It was too fast.
“Yeah, you’re right.” Abby chuckled and tried to move away, but you didn’t let her, pressing her back to you.
“Just.. lie down.”
Abby listened to you, her hands still under your hoodie, but now she was just caressing your sides gently with her thumbs, sending goosebumps.
“I’ve missed you so much.” You told her as you stroke her hair.
“I’ve missed you too. The worst three days of my life.”
You laughed quietly.
“How did you figure it out?” You asked, curious. Abby sighed, but you waited.
“Oh man, this is embarrassing. I thought I was homophobic, because I hated that you were bringing girls over. Talked to Ellie, figured out I was homophobic to myself.” Abby laughed, and even though you could see the comedy in her words, you couldn't imagine what she had to go through.
“This is such a mind-fuckery.” You said sympathetically. “It must’ve felt so good to realise that.”
“It was. And then I saw you with Vi and what happened happened.”
“Oh god this is fast. Like, did you even have the time to properly process that?”
“Three days with myself would do.” Abby chuckled and you felt the guilt poking your heart.
“Sorry. I felt like I couldn’t just say sorry and move on without telling you about my feelings. But I was scared.” You admitted and Abby hummed, seeing your point. It must've been more scary for you as you knew what was happening in your head and the time turned your fear into full blown terror.
"How long have you known?"
"That I like you? Pretty much from the beginning, but I tried really hard to stop it."
Abby laughed and you tilted your head to look at her, not understanding what was so funny.
"Remember when we hung out for the first time? When we watched that horror movie that offended you so much?"
"Yeah?"
"I was very confused why you were so far away from me. I was already into you by that point."
"I can't imagine what kind of mental somersaults you had to do to keep it hidden from yourself." You sighed and hugged her harder. “I’m very happy you’re free of the straight curse.”
Abby snorted and looked up to you, just staring, unashamed - everything about you was perfect.
“You’re so pretty.” God it felt good to say it freely, say it without shame, without broken syllables and mumbling.
You smiled and looked away, flustered, and Abby watched you with fascination - she’s never seen you like this.
“Thanks.” You tried to stop smiling but you couldn’t, and Abby’s curious and teasing gaze just made you smile more. “No, stop it.” You said, playfully stern.
“Nah, I’ll do it even more now. Seeing you crumble like this is even better than kicking your ass in Mortal Kombat.”
“Oh yeah? I still cook your food.” You threatened.
Before Abby could answer her stomach rumbled and you laughed.
“Let’s go eat.”
And everything was back to normal, but it also wasn’t. You chatted, catching up on these days you spent apart, telling each other the last gossip and complaining about classes - that was normal. But now Abby could hug you from behind and steal a kiss, her high making her bold, and you could abandon whatever you had on the stove and wrap your arms around her neck, kissing her back. Because now you didn’t have to hide from each other, second-guessing motives and actions. Now when you ate and talked you could hold hands and smile bashfully at each other, and the teasing could end in millions of short kisses. You finally let yourself hug Abby from behind while she washed the dishes and tell her what was happening with Caitlyn and Vi.
Later you did your usual cuddle time, and Abby held you in her arms exactly like she wanted to. A few months ago you both sat on that couch - awkward and distant, too afraid of each other - to watch a movie, and now you were lying on it, kissing and cuddling, basking in each other as you gently and innocently explored what was an unattainable dream before, caressing sides and hips and ribs without heat but with a desire to get to know.
Abby swore she started to believe in magic when you touched her.

FUCK YEAH
you lucky bitch
You laughed when Abby showed you Ellie's texts and nuzzled into Abby's chest.
"Let's do a sleepover today." Abby said as she kissed your temple.
"Where?"
"In my bed."

Just kiss me
Felipe x fem! Reader
Warnings: Jealousy & fluff
Note: first time writing for pipe and idk why, I should’ve written for him before cause he is the cutest fifa ever 😭
-And cut!- the director screams and you smile looking at your co- star- And that’s a wrap on that scene, take 20 people.
You sigh at the thought of finally getting off the heels you’ve been wearing, it’s not that you didn’t enjoy wearing heels but after a few scenes, they become more of a torture, so you just start to walk towards the trailer until your co star, stops you.
-Hey, (yn)!- Smiling you turn back to see him and he is smiling - Good work today- he says- I’m glad you’re my co star.
You can’t help but smile at his comment, it’s the first big and important role you get in Hollywood, so receiving that kind of feedback, really makes you smile and trust in your talent a little more.
-Thanks Mark, it means so much coming from you.- A smile is forming on him as he gets closer.
-It’s the truth- he says lifting his shoulders- you are a wonderful actress.
The chat continues for a while until your assistant comes practically running to see you.
-Hey (yn), I need to tell you something- she says while smiling so hard.
-That’s my cue- Mark says and leaves you with Susanne, your assistant, who is excited to tell her boss, whatever she has to.
-Yes Sussy? What’s the big deal?- you ask her as you scan her body language- you seem really excited.
-Oh- she calms down a bit- You received something, it’s in your trailer. -She says once again getting really hyped up.
-Ok, and whats that?- Now you are really curious, what they could’ve sent you that Susanne couldn’t carry with her.- Is it big or why you don’t have it with you?
-Yes it’s big and in Spanish- she answers smiling as hard as before, she really wants to spoil what you had received but she can’t.- Come on, you’ve got to see it!
She grabs your hand and both sprint as quickly as the heels allows you, while wondering what could be, what is big and in Spanish?
A plushie that talks?, your dog?, you have really no clue what could be, but a lot of ideas, and as that you got in into the trailer.
-It is my dog?- you ask opening the door and entering, but Susanne doesn’t enters.
-Eh, me han dicho muchos insultos pero, perro pasa el límite- You hear a familiar voice, and before you could even see him, you know exactly who is.
-¡Pipe!- Both run to hug each other, and in the excitement, he lifts and spins you-¡Eh, no hagas eso!
He puts you down quickly, scans you and smiles, before hugging you more.
-Pero que hermosa que te ves- And you just give him a little smack on his shoulder- ¿Por qué me pegás?
You shake your head- ¿Cuando llegaste?, ¿por qué no me avistaste nada?
-Era una sorpresa, por eso no dije nada, y llegué hace unas horas.- you just can’t believe he is here, with you, and hug him quickly one more time.

franromerofran: Que viva el amor! ❤️
-Sos el mejor amigo del mundo, la falta que me hacías.- You tell him and he smiles a little, but in his interior he feels sad that you couldn’t see him the way he does, how could you not notice that he likes you since forever, and after all the flirting everything was still the same.- ¿Y, que querés hacer?
He just smiles still seeing you smiling and excited.
You smile at the thought of spending time with him, your best friend, but a little worried of what he could tell you, probably that he has a girlfriend or he was leaving for a movie, still, you wanted to be with him.
-Dale, haremos lo que vos quieras, pero después me toca a mí escoger.- he nods and hugs you again.
-Te extrañé mucho (yn).
-Y yo a vos, en verdad.- the hug continues until someone knocks at the trailer door and you go to open it. -Oh, Mark!
-Hey!- he greets you- so, Greta said we can go have lunch and return until 5-6 pm, so, would you like to have lunch with me? Or are you busy?
-She is busy, with me.- Another men voice says as he gets from behind you- Sorry.
-Oh, I didn’t knew you had a visitor, is he your brother?- Mark asks teasing Felipe.
-No, no, he is Felipe, my best friend, I have talked about him, right?- your co star nods.
-Yeah, your best friend, I heard everything about you.- he smiles again, but never taking the look off Felipe.
-On the other hand, I’ve never heard about you- Pipe says and puts one of his hand around your waist.
-¡Pipe, no seas grosero!- you scold him and turn to see him, and getting out of his grip, making Felipe to just lift his hands innocently.
-¿Que? Pero él empezó, y es la verdad, yo no he escuchado nada sobre él.- you just roll your eyes and turn to see Mark.
-Sorry about that, but, I had plans with him first, maybe next time?- he nods and looks again at your friend.
-Well, see you later, we have our kiss scene this night, so, don’t eat onion. -Mark says and you hear Felipe sigh.
-That wouldn’t bother me, anyway she is a good kisser.- Felipe says before getting a punch in his stomach, but that doesn’t erase the smile on his face.- Bye.
Mark just leaves a little mad, and you turn madly to Felipe, closing the door, you still couldn’t believing what he just said.
-¿Que te pasá, por que decís eso?- you push him angrily but he still has a stupid smile in his face- ¡En serio Felipe!
He laughs- Es la verdad, ¿o no?- you feel a lot of butterflies on your stomach as he gets closer to you, the proximity makes your lips touch a bit, making you walk away some centimeters.
-No lo sé, nunca me he besado a mi misma- you say laughing but Felipe isn’t laughing.
And with that he starts to walk towards the door.
-Felipe- you stop him holding onto his sweater- ¿Por qué decís todo esto? ¿Estás celoso?
He turns finally but still not making eye contact with you, and reaches for one of your hands, his eyes looking down.
-Felipe- you interrupted him- solo bésame y ya.
He just stares at you, still couldn’t believing of what you just said, after everything he said, you felt the same way for him after all that time.
-En serio, ¿eso querés?- you nod at his question.
-Si, eso quiero…¿y, vas a besarme?- you ask him getting closer again and slowly putting your arms around his neck, and like a reflect, his hands went into your waist, fitting perfectly, and just like, your lips meet for a moment, making you both smile.

I love Vea from ch7 of The Dispossessed. I always fall in love with her along with Shevek, and then over the course of the chapter, you realize she’s like… a bad person? Or there’s something very perverse about her. It’s disturbing. Not only the way she lives her life, but the conclusions she has come to about it. I both respect her and feel disgust for her. It’s probably bc of characters like Vea that Le Guin’s early work got criticized on feminist grounds, but I only really agree w that for her earliest writing, and it was never that bad. When she started to examine gender, she was transgressive. Her later career is more “feministly correct” but it’s often not as interesting on those grounds. I’m making broad generalizations but this is what I feel to some degree.
Vea is sorta an anti-Shevek. He’s a revolutionary among revolutionaries, and she’s the queen of resignation. And not in a Himemiya Anthy way—more like, she’s on top of the heap and damn pleased with that state of affairs. She’s decadence, I suppose. Even more, she becomes an object to Shevek, his Woman in the Table.
Vea is ultimately written out of the story. She embodies Shevek’s disgust with Urras. After he forces himself on her and cums all over her dress, he wakes up, feels ashamed of himself, and resolves to join the Urrasti anarchists, sparing only a condescending thought for Vea. It’s basically inevitable that people have called the book out. I personally don’t have an issue w it, but that’s only because I have the wider context of Le Guin’s career in mind. And also because, the chapter is damn good. You know. It’s not like she didn’t spend 20,000+ words building that shit up. And it changes the course of Shevek’s life on Urras.
It’s due to the subtlety of Le Guin’s writing that Vea’s character doesn’t feel like a violently misogynistic character. She’s so alive and real, like every character in the book is. And she becomes the focal point for Shevek’s breakdown into darker emotions, but it’s not as if she actually is the embodiment of lust and temptation and ill-gotten gains. And when it comes to how she’s written out of the book, well, reading it from her perspective makes a difference. She was trying to fuck Shevek the entire time she knew him lol, and she only cared that he’d gotten her dress dirty and forced her to change it. That could have damaged her reputation but—it’s Vea. You know. She comes across in the book as incredibly socially powerful, and she’s gonna move on from his ass in two seconds flat.
The seventh chapter is one of the best in the book tbh, because Vea represents one of the greatest challenges to Shevek. She asks him questions, and I don’t know if he had great answers. Perhaps Le Guin wrote Vea out because she wanted Shevek and his POV to reign supreme (it basically does by the end). But in the ambiguous utopia, I think Vea is the most ambiguous of all. On the one hand, if I didn’t have other Le Guin books to answer it, the way Vea is written would bother me more. But I also get a lot out of chapter 7, by itself. At the end of the day, I also recoil from Vea. I recoil from her amorality. Yet I also love her, on a human level. That’s why she sticks with me, and why the writing isn’t unbearably one-sided. Shevek would certainly be more boring if he didn’t have limitations or failings.

No one killed the King.
It’s been three days, seven hours, nine minutes and exactly sixty nine seconds since Vea Amaris broke into our ballroom, collapsed on the floor and cried. In the past three days, seven hours, nine minutes, and exactly sixty nine, well seventy seconds since then, a lot has happened. My mother has decided to acknowledge herself as the queen until I breach eighteen. After that, I will be the ruler, and she an advisor.
Vea Amaris is now well enough to sit up straight, well partially. Their ministers have already received a letter, explaining where their acting ruler is, as their father’s whereabouts are unknown. Eren left early yesterday morning, determined to find King Amom.
There’s so much to do. Father’s funeral has already been held. We had no body to bury so we buried his falchion, even though he never used it. He stuck to his daggers until the very end, but they were lost at sea along with his beloved bow and arrow, if only we had them.
Grief weighs down every move in the castle, Zuri can no longer be seen sketching the horizon or taking one of her long walks on the beach, she’s shut herself in her wing and has allowed no one to see her. She’s even stopped taking her meals with mother and I!
I wish I could fault her, blame her, but it would be hypocritical of me. If I could, I would hide away in my room as well, but I have duties. I am expected to rule while my mother recovers from the shock, she is still queen but I am still the heir. I still have to lead my people, I still have to look after Vea, soothe our agitated allies before they turn on us, defend my kingdom and most importantly, find my father’s killer.
There aren’t any leads to follow, I haven’t been allowed near Vea, therefore I cannot question them about his death. There’s no ship to inspect, no bodies, no witnesses, nothing. Nothing. NOTHING.
Nothing’s such a horrible word, there’s no point to it. It’s the only lie we accept. Every question in the world could be answered with those seven letters, but it’s never nothing, is it? There’s always something, or someone.
This is basically a long winded way of saying, I’m sneaking into Vea’s hospital room to ask them questions about my father’s brutal murder. Yay! This will definitely not backfire, Amaris is… reasonable, for the lack of a better word.
My shoes are off, and all that could give away my identity is hidden away in my room, where I’ve arranged a few cushions to pretend that I’m asleep in my room. The borrowed (read: stolen) servant’s gown is slightly uncomfortable but nondescript enough that no one will pay attention to me.
Now. I have a royal to harass.
-X-
I quietly make my way around the clinic, careful to stay on my guard, while Ababyomi may be out for now, she’s sure to return soon, and she knows every single nurse that works for her. The second she’s back, I’m screwed. The other nurses mill about restlessly, currently the only patient in the castle is Vea. That makes my work a lot harder. I manage to disappear behind the curtain that separates my mark from me and my questions. Vea looks less pitiful today, the swelling around their eyes has gone down, making them look less racoonish. The blood that clung to their armour and skin that night, has been painstakingly cleaned, the only trace of their injuries are the stitches that line most of their body.
They cock their head to the side, and sit up. Their smile is tired and their hands barely obey them when they lift it in a silent gesture. “You’re welcome here.” It’s small and silent, a mutual understanding. We’ve both lost our fathers and for tonight, there is to be no mention of the war, only a grim compromise.
I’ll tell you what you want to know, and you’ll tell me what I want to know. No ifs, no buts.
“Good evening, Vea.” I drag a chair next to their bed, allowing my body to finally rest. For the past three days, I’ve done nothing but run around, and deal with agitated allies. A few moments of rest and relaxation was much needed. “Daraja. I am truly sorry about your father, I wish I could have done more , helped him, somehow.”
“You still can, help me find who killed him, Vea. Please.” I want to scream and cry but diplomacy helped us before, perhaps it can again.
“I’ll help however I can…. For a price.”
“A price?” “Nothing is ever free Princess.” They smile at me softly, their gaze carries no heat, a simple aura of cool intellect hidden by a weak exterior.
“I’m aware, name your price.” “A walk around the palace?” Well. That was…surprising.
“Uh. Sure.” What could possibly go wrong?
-X-
After a nerve wracking escape from the clinic, we wander around in the gardens, there is not a single soul in sight. Only Vea and I.
For a few moments neither of us speak, the only sound passing between us is that of their cane sounding against the cobblestones.
“So.” A brave attempt at breaking the tension, a failed one but brave nonetheless.
“Right.” “I don’t know how to start.” A beat.
“I’ll tell you exactly what happened and then you can decide what you want to do with me.” Vea offers, their gaze turned away from me. They don’t wait for an answer.
“We set sail almost immediately after the treaty was signed. He didn’t want to wait until dinner, he didn’t want to wait a second longer. All he could talk about were his girls, he talked about Zuri and The queen but mostly, he talked about you and how proud he was of you. He really loved you Daraja.” The weather is exceptionally warm, even my eyes are perspiring.
“ I wish both of us could have made it home Daraja, I really do, but when those monsters took me…”
“Monsters? Took you? Wha-” WHAT MONSTERS? LITERAL? FIGURATIVE? ELABORATE.
“They didn’t tell you, did they?” Of couuuurse they did, I’m just pretending not to know. Read the garden Amaris.
“I’m sorry, um I forgot that Aiga wasn’t aware of the skelons.” Skelons? What?
“Skelons?”
“It’s a long story…” “I’ve got time.”
A/N: Has this been beta read? Absolutely not no. Has this been posted after a billion years? Absolutely yes.
I apologise for the incredibly long hiatus, I really didn't mean to do that. I’m really hoping y’all haven’t lost interest yet.

Bed Friend - episode 3
I continue to love King and Uea and the way they look at each other. The show is darker than I was expecting from the, trailer, with Uea's abusive childhood and PTSD a big part of the story. Uea and King (and James' and Net's portrayals of them) are by far the best part of the show. Although Cheewin's stylizations seemed toned down this episode–or perhaps I am just getting used to them, but overall they bothered me less.
Oh Cheewin, Cheewin, Cheewin. I have such love-hate feelings for his work. There are some moments where his shows are absolutely amazing, and I feel like he's always reaching for something interesting, trying to say something meaningful or new. But all too often the results fall short (for me at least). His directing is so full of contradictions. Two things he seems to be pretty consistently bad at are staging group scenes and villains. Which is unfortunate, because he has these ensembles full of interesting characters, and he seems interested in the kind of conflict and drama that would be enhanced by goo bad guys. Both Uea's mother and Pock are un-nuanced in a way that make them seem like cardboard cut-out bad guys rather than real people. I don't want them to be more sympathetic, sometimes the villains are irredeemable pieces of shit and that what the story needs. But they do need to seem like human beings with motivations of their own, rather than plot devices to cause conflict for the main characters. Because otherwise it cheapens Uea's suffering at their hands, makes it seem also not real. And for Pock, if he's just straightforwardly awful, with no charm or other appealing qualities to offset it, then it makes no sense why Uea dated him in the first place, making the character seem even more self-hating than I think he's supposed to be.
(I'm also confused by the passage of time in many of the montages, but I think I figured it out. I do feel like Cheewin is going for fanciness over clarity in many of his editing choices, though.)
One thing I think Cheewin does do very well is conveying how these two are already in their own world together. I loved the apology scene at the office, with Gun and Jade bustling and chattering, while King and Uea just look at each other in stillness. The way Uea says he’s not mad anymore!
Uea and King continue to have my heart. I love King's earnest openhearted devotion to Uea, how his first instinct when anything happens is to protect. Net does a great job of portraying that devotion with his face. I like how he pushes and teases, but he never goes to far. His paying such close attention to Uea that he can tell when's he's actually upset rather then just being prickly. And he backs off when Uea tells him to, and waits for his invitation. And oh King's smile when he gets one! Absolutely delighted and honored and maybe a little incredulous that the man with a thousand walls is letting him into his life, even just a little bit.
This is a show where can see why they like each other. Or maybe not see exactly, because who King is outside of wanting Uea is still a mystery to me, but it feels right. Uea is so beautiful and brooding and mysterious, I can see why King would be intrigued. And he's clearly someone drawn to a challenge, not so much for ego, I don't think–I don't get the impression he's after the satisfaction of winning over Uea for the sake of winning, but rather that he saw Uea's suffering and wanted make it better. I mean, he literally says as much – "Let me be a good thing in your life.” – and I think he means it just like that. He's not completely selfless, he also wants Vea's attention and affection for his own sake, and of course there must be such a rush from getting this prickly standoffish, gorgeous man to look at you, smile at you, answer your calls, let you into his life. How exhilarating! But I felt from the very beginning that it wasn’t the thrill of the chase for him, that it was about falling for the person Uea is. I do wonder how aware of his own feelings King is right now. He seems to know he’s falling in love, and happy about it, but it also wouldn’t surprise me to have him pull back to create drama in the show.
And for Uea–there’s their attraction of course, that sexual chemistry that hit them both the first time they laid eyes on each other, that night in the bar. And I think it was the intensity of that attraction that made Uea push King away so strongly after that first encounter–he knew if he let him in, ever just a little, his walls would start to crumble down. (This is where I really wish that Pock was more of a real character and not just a clumsily drawn plot device; I would love to see even a glimpse of what Vea was like in that relationship. Was he this closed off then? Or is some of his distrust from opening up and then being cheated on?) But how can Uea help but respond to King's devotion–his attention and the way he sees Uea, the way he really pay attention, and respects Uea’s boundaries, yet still always lets him know how much he wants him. How could Uea not fall in love? I’m half in love myself.
I should not be at all surprised that these two have won my heart. The devoted4prickly dynamic echos then dynamics of so may of my favorite couples–Da-woon and Si-won (Blueming remains my touchstone BL) Vee and Mark (Love Mechanics). Mangkorn and Yai (Big Dragon), Seo-joon and Ji-woo (To My Star), Koichi and Mitsuru (Eternal Yesterday) Shi De and Yu Shi (We Best Love), Jae-young and Sang-woo (Semantic Error), Win and Team (at least from the first four episodes of Between Us, which is all I've seen so far), Billy and Seng's characters in War of Y. Even Issei and Mamoru of Kabe Koji (though Issei 's extreme sunshineness makes it feel different to me) and Ayan and Akk of The Eclipse (although I wouldn’t call Akk “prickly” exactly). And Fahlanruk, I guess, which is why I wanted to like it, but they fueled that one up. So obviously King and Uea are like catnip for me.
I continue to appreciate that the office setting is just that–only a setting. It forces them together, and adds tension from the frisson of keeping a secret, but we’re not spending anytime on the content of their jobs. So maybe I don’t hate office settings (after all, I adored Old Fashion Cupcake), just a focus on the corporate bullshit itself.
(Sidenote: Poppy and his brother look so much alike! I kept wondering, "is that Poppy?" when I saw Mongkol, so I looked it up, and it turns out it's not, but rather his brother, Park.)
Oh! I laughed out loud at the phone conversation that ended up with the (fantasy? conceit? movie magic? imagining? I don’t know what to call it) of them in bed together, since I was just complaining about it in other shows. However! It worked for me here! I think because it really felt like the characters’ fantasy of being together, rather than something imposed from the outside. Plus video calls don’t have that same feeling of intimate distance that I love; they’re already looking at each others’ faces, so might as well do it in a way that’s more pleasing for the audience. I did love the tenderness of them falling to sleep together, King pushing and charming Uea to break down a few more of his walls.
Goodness, there is so much I could say about this show, between a dynamic I love, and the way that shows that are brilliant but imperfect get my brain going, I have so many thoughts. I haven’t even touched on the sex scenes yet, which I think are overall hot and pretty well done, and show us more about who the character are and their relationship. I loved the scene with Uea setting the rules–for the narrative tension it sets up (which rules will be broken?! and when?!), for how much it showed us about what Uea needs, for my pride in him for stating his boundaries, for King listening intently, absolutely willing to abide, but also unable to not be touching Uea now that he had him in his bed.
Or the child abuse, there is a lot to be said about that. But that is enough words for now.
#critical at the beginning but the rest is mostly positive#bed friend#bed friend ep 3#bed friend the series#my triumphant return to bl watching!#gillianthecat reacts to bl

First off, I just want to apologize for taking so long to answer you babe. When it comes to longer asks I like to sit back and take some time to think so sometimes they sit in my drafts half-answered because my thoughts are all over the place 😭
The previous chapter was pretty heavy with the near assault scene. It really shows the readers just how broken down and violated Luke truly feels behind his idgaf attitude. In reality, Luke doesn’t feel as though he’s someone who’s worthy of bodily autonomy. It’s a mindset thats been birthed and nursed by a horrible mix of numerous past assaults and a plethora of toxic environments over seventeen long years.
The only person Luke sees as the victim in the whole bathroom incident is Joffrey because he views himself as a sort of magnet for trouble. How could HE ever be the victim when things like this happen over and over again no matter where he goes? In his mind there’s an ongoing pattern and he’s the only common denominator, even though we know the only common denominator is a traumatized kid surrounded by abusers as the system had failed him. Very sad.
Aemma is coming soon! She’s a great mom, funny, and understanding. Just an amazing woman all around who’s been through so much in both the past and the present. She knows what hurt and betrayal feels like seeing as she died at the word of her own husband, but has managed to make it out of the mud and find herself. Overall, grandma Aemma brings a certain feeling of love and light to whatever room she steps in and Luke will definitely feel it. Perhaps he’ll even let her get a good look at him without his guard up since there isn’t as much pressure to act as perfect around her.
Aemma and Luke practically being twins isn’t even a head canon for me because their actors look so much alike! (That casting department needs a gold medal tbh) Their close looks will be obvious to everyone around them except for Luke and Aemma themselves. It’ll be one of those things that neither realize until someone shoves a mirror in front of them and goes “Maybe you guys need to take another look”
The moment everyone’s been waiting for is soon approaching. I hope my hints and little teasers from previous chapters haven’t gone over too many people’s heads because they’ll tie in heavily. I’m so excited because the way in which Luke’s memories will come back to him is a little unexpected yet unique. At least I think so.
I’m so happy you haven’t forgotten about his friends from prison as well as granny Olenna because they’re finally coming back. I’m also glad you remembered Olenna’s little comment about not hurting Luke because she meant business.
Ugh, there’s so much I want to outright say but I don’t want to spoilll. *sigh*
Anyway, Luke’s state of mind once everything comes back could go a lot of ways which makes the whole situation so nerve racking. He could fly off the rail and go back to his destructive ways, I.e. hooking up with strangers who are more than a lil sketchy, drinking, looking for a place to score, or even running away. Anything to drown the pain and forgot about everything he’s remembered despite wanting nothing more than to go back to his mother. However, he could also shut down. Retreat into his mind and go into a catatonic state just as you explained.
I think one thing that’s easily forgotten is how traumatic the process of remembering a past life (especially one as crazy as his own) can be. I know that if I woke up one day and suddenly remembered being killed by my uncle on a battle hardened dragon would fuck up my mental tremendously.
More grandpa Corlys content is in the works! I want their relationship to be a little more stable before Luke’s memories come back so I plan on making that happen.
Just like Aemma, Corlys is one of those adult figures in Luke’s life who can be a guiding hand for him without the pressure of feeling as though he has to keep up this act of being without flaws. It’ll be very reminiscent of their past relationship since Corlys was always the person Luke felt he could express his true feelings and worries to when it came to inheriting Driftmark.
Corlys would buy the stars in the sky for Luke if he said he liked them and it opens doors for a lot of spoiling. Luke would be more open to receiving small gifts and the like from him since the man so much older and just radiates grandpa energy. And even Luke knows just how notorious grandparents are for trying to give their grandchildren the world on a silver platter.
Corlys would find a way to get his hands on some Chick-fil-a on a Sunday if Luke said he was craving their waffle fries so that speaks for itself lol.
As for their occupations, Corlys has tried on many hats in his life (law, health care, and real estate) but he’s currently in business. He was the CEO of an insurance company but stepped down around three years prior to the story staking place. Though he is still a shareholder in multiple companies.
Rhaenys is the current head of Westeros national hospital which is the same hospital that Rhaenyra works at. She’s basically the face of the institution and can be found walking through every once in a while with a big smile on her face as she makes sure none of her workers are fucking up lol
Hearing how much you’re enjoying my fic means the world. I love long asks because it gives me a chance to ramble lmao
Much love babes 🩷

Hello, I hope you are well. If you want, of course, could you make Marylin (laurel) and reader have a relationship but it ends because you find out about her plan to finish the outcasts, after a few days she sees you dating someone else and she doesn't accept your breakup?
You can't hate me
Pairing: Marilyn Thornhill/ Laurel Gates x Fem, Teacher! Reader
Warnings: Angst love
Word count: 2,890
Summary: You know her, and she is not a murderer, she is your girlfriend, you have to be wrong, or so it’s that you like to think…
N/A: Requests are open!! Sorry if there is some delay answering them, work is an awful shit :( But I’m working every day on your requests to write them asap!!! Sorry about the language mistakes. I love you all!!!
“A house?” You asked amused, not believing your girlfriend's words at all.
Everything in Nevermore was beginning to be disturbing. A monster in the woods, a student in a coma, cover-ups...
At least you had her, you had Marilyn. She was the most innocent of your companions, a tender, sweet and affectionate woman. It didn't take much for you to love her, because she earned it every day. You were convinced that she was probably the woman you had been looking for for so long. You even declined an invitation to have dinner with a girl from the village who was apparently quite well known for her beauty.
You and Marilyn were walking around the academy when she unexpectedly told you that she had bought a house in that town.
“Yes, it was a real bargain. Although it is abandoned... Do you know the path that leads to the academy from Pilgrim World?” The redhead told you, with hope on her face. She told you that one day you would leave Nevermore and start a real life together, but you didn't think it would be so soon. The commitment was a little scary to you.
“Yes, I know… But there's only the old Gates mansion and… Wait.” You stopped walking, surprised by what you thought that meant. “Have you bought the Gates mansion?”
“Exactly,” she answered, sighing. “It had been abandoned for years, and it was reduced.”
“Uhh, just thinking about it gives me chills. Surely you don't know what happened to that family, right?” You said, creating a terrifying atmosphere. She looked away and made a strange face for a second.
“Well, I've heard some rumors. They didn't have much luck,” she told you, with a somehow broken tone, “sorry, such tragic stories make me sad.”
“That's because you're human, Marilyn. But don't feel sorry for them, they deserved it,” you said, taking her hand affectionately. The redhead nodded and faked a smile.
“Do you think someone deserves to die just for doing what they think is the right thing?” She asked, causing you to widen your eyes. You didn't used to talk about such philosophical things.
“Uoh, uoh, put the brakes on Socrates. I think I'm not ready for that kind of moral debates,” you said joking. “But what I am sure of is that if the right thing to do was to annihilate a group of people for a certain reason, they must not have been very right in the head…”
Marilyn looked at you and her expression relaxed, nodding slightly.
“You're right, (Y/N)…” She said with an almost inaudible voice. “I was wondering if you'd like to come with me to take a look at the house. You see, I want to reform it so that I can call it “home” one day.”
“Well, even though it's scary, it's probably much better than the rooms here, surely when I get out of here I'll need a good chiropractor,” you said jokingly, placing a hand on your back.
“It's just that the bed is too small for both of us…” she said, following your joke.
“I don't think that's why it is, I also like to sleep on the edge.”
Marilyn gave an adorable laugh and squeezed your hand hard.
“Will you accompany me tonight? The truth is that the place makes my hair stand on end,”she told you with some fear in her voice.
“Okay, but if the monster comes I'll run until I get to New York,” you said sarcastically.
You weren't some superhuman creature like a vampire, or a werewolf, you just had visions from time to time. If you had to face that horrible monster, you would have nothing to do.
The mansion doors creaked in a chilling manner. You couldn't help but look around. Now the house belonged to the nicest woman you knew, but something about that place gave you a bad feeling, and you were pretty good with forebodings.
“It looks like the Amityville house,” you said, contemplating the huge house that rose in the dark. The redhead laughed. Strangely she was very calm, and you knew her well enough to know that Marilyn wasn't exactly brave, or that she liked those kinds of places. You thought that anyone who bought a house should feel the same, after all it was hers, and with a little work, surely she managed to eliminate that terrifying aura that surrounded it.
“Don't worry, (Y/N). No one has died here, or at least that's what the real estate agent told me,” she told you, reassuring you while she put the key in the lock.
“It's still scary…” You muttered, glancing at the overgrown garden that surrounded the house. Marilyn looked at you and kissed you tenderly, running a hand over your cheek.
“Don't be afraid, honey, you're with me…” She whispered to you. You nodded, not quite sure that was any real comfort.
When the door opened, you peeked out timidly. Inside it was even worse. Your hands began to sweat, a sign that something was wrong. You swallowed and followed the redhead into the house. That there was electricity was clearly a plus. It was still a dark house, but at least it wasn't so dark.
“It's quite big,” you commented, looking at every detail.
“Of course, it is,” Marilyn said. “Too big for just one person.” Saying that, she winked at you and kept walking, entering what looked like an office. You smiled. Of course she was meaning what you thought she was meaning.
“That will have to be discussed, right?” You asked amused. She shook her head.
“When it's reformed you'll see that there's nothing to talk about,” she joked. “I need you to wait here for a moment. I have to check something in the garage.”
“Are you going to leave me here alone?” You asked scared. She shrugged her shoulders.
“I have read that this type of environment is ideal for rats. If you want to come with me….”
Rats terrified you. They were your worst phobia. You were definitely better off in that old office.
“Okay, okay, okay, I'd rather stay,” you said with a disgusted face.
“I thought so. If it's clear I'll come for you. I'm sure you like the car left behind by the previous owners.”
You nodded, as Marilyn grabbed what looked like some kind of rodent poison and headed out the door.
You sighed, trying not to get nervous. The office was intact, save for the obvious passage of time. On the wall was a large portrait of a family, the Gates, no doubt.
“I hope you don't mind that I'm here… Bunch of fanatics,” you hissed, remembering the terrible plan that family had for people like you.
There was something in that painting that looked familiar to you, but you didn't know what. You moved a little closer to take a closer look, and reached out your hand to brush away the cobwebs. Suddenly a dizziness shook your body, and you had an all too familiar feeling. Your legs wobbled and you fell to the ground, ready to receive a vision that surely would not be pleasant.
“Kill them all… Be a man!”
“She's too young, Ansel, you shouldn't talk to her like that….”
“Laurel is old enough to know that outcasts are scum….”
“Mom… Why has Garrett gone to heaven? Was he not happy with us?”
“Enough, Ansel! I have already lost a son…I don't want to lose our daughter too!”
“Don't tell me what to do! You are a coward, incapable of realizing that our son was murdered by those monsters, and they have to pay for it….”
“Oh, fuck!” You yelled as you opened your eyes. You were there, lying on the ground, and you had just had a rather disturbing vision. It was the Gates family, no doubt. Those horrible memories were accompanied by images, images of the monster, of the terrifying family, of Joseph Crackstone…. The last of them was a bookcase, which seemed to be in that same house.
“Shit, I knew it wasn't a good idea to come here…” You said getting up from the ground with somewhat blurred vision. “My goodness…”
Your eyes cleared and you leaned against a nearby table, trying to forget that horrible sight. But the problems were only beginning. The dim light in the office began to flicker.
“Oh no, what now?” You asked, looking for Marilyn with your eyes. Soon it was pitch black. The light that saved you from dying of terror disappeared. You immediately took out your phone and turned on the flashlight.
“Marilyn?” You asked on the air. There was no answer.
Your phone vibrated, making you jump in the air.
“(Y/N)?”
“Oh, thank God…” You sighed with relief when you heard your girlfriend's voice. “I'm in the dark.”
“I know. The fuse blew. You have to turn it on again.”
“Okay…Tell me where it is," you said, pointing the light towards the door.
“Leave the office and right in front you will find the library, on the wall at the back is the fuse box.”
“Okay, okay, here I go.”
You hung up the phone and left the office, trying to calm yourself down.
“Okay, okay, in front, it must be here,” you said to yourself. You entered the room, checking that at the end of it, there was the fuse box. You reached over and opened it, carefully lifting the switch. The power came back on and your heart rate returned to normal. You quickly searched for the light in that room and when you turned it on, you leaned against the wall, closing your eyes.
“Come on, (Y/N), you're 25 years old, you can't be such a coward,” you chided yourself. You pulled away and looked around you. You soon realized that there was something there that you had already seen. The bookshelf from your vision was in front of you.
Your curiosity was your weakness, and you went to the furniture observing every detail. It couldn't be a coincidence. Your visions were never a coincidence. You didn't see anything unusual at first, but a closer look made you realize something important.
“Why isn't there dust here?” You asked, looking at an ornament on the wood. It was evident that someone had touched it, as its twin on the other side was covered in the same layer of dust than the rest of the house.
Your instinct made you take your hand to that ornament, and as soon as you put it on it, it sank and the books that were there moved, as if they were a secret door.
What was behind that mechanism made your hair stand on end. It was an altar, but not just any, it was one dedicated to Joseph Crackstone.
“Disturbing...” You said, reaching your hand towards one of the candles that had been placed there. “This candle…”
A vision invaded your mind, but not so intense as to make you faint.
“No, it can't be…” You sighed, upset.
What you saw was something impossible. Marilyn, your dear Marilyn was there, lighting the candles and looking with great devotion at the image of that pilgrim. It didn't take you long to remember all the strange phrases the redhead had once said and the circumstances themselves, for a terrifying revelation to appear in your mind.
“She is… She is Laurel Gates,” you whispered, scared. In some way that you couldn't explain, you knew, but you had nothing to make you really think about it. You thought that this time your intuition was wrong, until that moment.
Marilyn was your girlfriend, you loved her, you loved her very much. Worse was not who she claimed to be. She was part of the most hated family at Nevermore, of the bigots who tried to kill all people like you. You couldn't tell her anything, you didn't dare. What you were also sure of is that you couldn't continue with her, your principles prevented you from doing so. The Gates were murderers, hate killed them all, and Laurel was probably up to no good.
You had to run away from there, and save your next move for later, or never.
Some days later…
“Okay, we'll see you there,” you said before hanging up the phone.
The following days were horrible. You decided on the strategy of ignorance. She was looking for you, she was calling you. But you didn't answer. Avoiding her was difficult, but she seemed to give up after a while. You never talked to her. You hadn't even officially broken up. Silence became your best ally, and your next step was to try to forget everything you felt for her.
That girl you turned down seemed receptive to meeting you. You didn't want to use anyone to forget, but starting to meet people was a good first step.
You made it to the cafeteria, still thinking about Laurel. She might be a Gates, but she was still the woman you were in love with. If you weren't distracted, you would end up going crazy, or falling into her intolerant arms.
“Hi, (Y/N), I'm glad you decided to go out with me,” that girl said. You just nodded, calling the waiter.
To your dismay, Laurel walked in there too and fixed her eyes on you, looking surprised and clearly angry. That made things very complicated. The redhead seemed to ignore you and she went to the counter.
“Hey, why did you change your mind? I thought you had a girlfriend.”
You turned, snapping out of your thoughts.
“Oh, well… Not anymore.”
You didn't talk much. When the tea arrived at your table you used it so you didn't have to say a word. You were in love with Laurel, and that couldn't change that fast.
“Are you alright?” The girl asked. You shook your head.
A little dizziness, followed by a terrible fatigue suddenly hit you. Your vision became blurry, and it didn't seem like any trance. You made a feint to get up from the table, but you fell to the ground with a crash. You couldn't make out the voices you heard before everything went black.
Your eyelids were heavy, but you began to feel conscious, taking in a familiar smell of dust and abandonment in your nose. You tried to move, but something in your wrists prevented you. You were tied up
You were able to open your eyes and you found yourself in what seemed to be a little boy's room, or a girl's in this case. The atmosphere was familiar. You were at the Gates mansion, and you weren't alone.
“Finally you wake up…” A familiar voice said.
Your vision cleared and your worst fears were confirmed. Marilyn, or Laurel, was sitting up in bed, looking at you with a disturbing expression.
“What are you doing? What have you done to me?” You asked, trying to get out of your bonds.
“Calm down, I just want to talk,” she said, her voice too relaxed.
“Well, I don't want to talk to you, Laurel. Yes, I know everything, I know who you are, and be thankful that I didn't want to find out what you're up to,” you said furiously.
“Honey... I'm the same woman as always...”
“No, that's not true. Since you were a little girl, you were raised to hate the marginalized… To hate us…”
“You are not like them, (Y/N). You are my girlfriend, and I love you,” she said, caressing your cheek. You moved violently.
“We're not girlfriends anymore, Laurel. I could never be with you. You are just like your family, just like Joseph Crackstone.”
“You and me know that this is not true.”
You shook your head, giving up. You couldn't let go of the bonds.
“Wait until I let go. Because I'm going to throw all the Jericho police on you,” you hissed, with tears in your eyes.
“You won't do anything. You love me. You would never do something like that,” she told you, running her hand through your hair.
“You're wrong.”
“You think so? Let's check it,” she said, taking a knife from the table. You stared at her in horror, until Laurel began to cut your bonds. You sighed as you felt free and rubbed your wrists. “Go ahead, (Y/N), go hand me over to the police. I promise I won't move from here.”
Her tone of voice was childish and wicked. You were determined to do it, but when you got out of bed, your feelings attacked you mercilessly. Happy memories of your relationship came to your mind, to make you feel weak and powerless. You couldn't hurt her. She was right.
“Come on, (Y/N). You are free,” she insisted.
Tears slipped down your cheeks as you turned to look at her. She got up and approached you with painful slowness. You grabbed her waist and tucked a lock of hair behind her ear.
“You should be locked up…” you whispered, leaning your forehead against hers.
“But you don't want that...”
You didn't answer. You just leaned in to kiss her. It was an evil kiss that you knew was wrong. She was your enemy, but you couldn't help but love her, and want to live together in that house, whatever the consequences were.

Geralt was sitting alone on a stone, staring into the distance. It had been hard to see Borch, Tea and Vea fall from the path, they should have not gone that way. Jaskier was not sure how he should handle it, he had really liked them. It must have been even harder for Geralt since he hadn’t been able to save them. He had tried, but they had still fallen down. Jaskier walked over and sat down next to Geralt. Maybe he could comfort him a little.
“You did your best. There is nothing else you could have done.” It was the truth. The planks would have broken and they all would have fallen to their death. There had been nothing he could have done to save them. But Jaskier knew, Geralt would still think about it a lot and blame himself.
“Look why don’t we leave tomorrow? That is, if you’ll give me another chance, to prove myself a worthy travel companion.”
“Hmm, you know, I didn’t mean it,” Geralt grunted. Yes, he knew, that Geralt didn’t think him unworthy, but it had still hurt.
“We could head to the coast. Get away for a while.” That would probably be nice for the both of them, a break from all that.
“Sounds like something Borch would say, doesn’t it? Life is too short. Do what pleases you while you can.”
“Composing your next song?” Maybe he should consider writing it into a song, it did sound nice.
“No, I’m just, uh… Just trying to work out what pleases me.” Actually, Jaskier knew exactly what would please him. He glanced over to Geralt, who was still looking into the distance. The question was, could he be the one to please Geralt. Because the Witcher seemed to be more interested in Yennefer, ever since she turned up, he only seemed to try getting closer to her. And the Sorceress was really not good for him.
But then Geralt turned to him, with a small smile. His eyes where still full of regret, but that was only natural and he was still smiling at him, despite all.
“You know, maybe you’re right. Let’s talk about it, when we’re done here.” Following a sudden impulse, Jaskier leaned to the side and rested his head against Geralt’s shoulder. And Geralt really wrapped an arm around his shoulder. Maybe if they could get away, he would finally have the guts to confess his feelings and maybe Geralt would even return his them.
In the morning he was shaken awake by Geralt who seemed to be in a hurry.
“Come on, we need to go, the dwarves are already on their way,” he yelled and packed up his bedroll, that was lying next to Jaskier’s. The bard scrambled up and hurried to get his stuff together.
“Just leave it,” Geralt yelled. “We'll get it later.” Jaskier let go of his bedroll but quickly grabbed his lute case because there was no way he would leave his most precious belonging behind. He then hurried after Geralt. Yennefer was waiting for them and looked annoyed.
“Does the bard really need to come?” she asked.
“Yes,” Geralt and Jaskier answered in the same moment. The sorceress rolled her eyes, before turning around and leading the way. They passed the on their way to the cave and Yennefer froze them with a quick spell.
Jaskier tried to stay in the background, he didn’t really want to come too close to the dragon, but he was shocked, when Tea and Vea and then suddenly a golden dragon appeared. It took him only seconds to piece it together and realize, Borch was the dragon who had been hiding in human form. While Geralt, Yennefer and the Zerrekanian warriors where fighting off Boholt and his men, Jaskier felt the urge, to run over to the dragon egg, to protect it, in case someone would try to hurt it. But luckily the golden Dragon, Borch, Jaskier reminded himself, had positioned himself in front of the egg to protect it. Because Jaskier would have probably not stood a chance against one of them.
Even just standing by and watching had been exhausting but they had managed to save the dragon’s egg. The mother had sadly already been dead by the time they had got there. Jaskier was sitting alone and watching Borch, Geralt and Yennefer talk, he felt like that wasn’t something he was supposed to be part of. He saw Geralt and Yennefer getting up and yelling at each other for some reason but he couldn’t understand them. When she angrily left, Jaskier got up. Geralt could probably use some comforting. After Borch left as well and Geralt had turned away, Jaskier stepped closer.
“Phew what a day,” he started, hoping to lighten the mood. Geralt turned around.
“Shut up, Jaskier”, Geralt yelled in his face.
“Sure, just if you want to talk, or maybe not talk, I’ll be there,” Jaskier said, fidgeting his fingers, not sure how to continue.
“Just fuck off!” Geralt was still yelling. It would probably best to give him time to cool off. Jaskier didn’t know what he and Yennefer had been fighting about and maybe he didn’t even want to know. He gathered his things so he would be ready to follow the rest of the group back down to where they had left their horses. Since Yennefer had portaled out, Borch would stay and since Boholt and his men where dead that meant only the dwarves, Geralt and him where left.
Not long after they left, Geralt was at his side again. He didn’t say anything but he was walking next to Jaskier. Jaskier made it a point to be mostly quiet as well, to give Geralt a little more time to calm down. He just hummed some songs like he always did. The Witcher didn’t seem to mind. This time they didn’t use the shortcut, of course, which was why, even with being faster on the way down, in the evening they camped in the same spot they did in the first night on their day up.
“Have you calmed down?” Jaskier asked Geralt, while they got a fire going.
“Hm,” Geralt hummed and Jaskier took that as a yes.
They didn’t find a lot to eat that evening, at least not considering the number of hungry people but it was not a monster this time so Jaskier counted it as a win. He would still go to bed hungry though.
“So, do you want to talk about your fight earlier today?” Jaskier asked.
“No, she is gone and that is probably for the best,” Geralt answered.
“What do you think about my suggestion? Should we head to the coast?” Jaskier asked.
“Hmm, I have a better idea. We should go to Toussaint,” Geralt answered. Jaskier was confused.
“What do you want in Toussaint? Everyone there is stiff and has a stick up their ass. I thought you didn’t like that?” He personally didn’t have anything against Toussaint. It was a beautiful country and most people there appreciated his music and weren’t as opposed to Witchers as people in many other countries. But he did have a little problem with Duchess Anna Henrietta. Namely he might have promised her loyalty and then slept with her maid. But her reaction was a little over the top, in his opinion. She had immediately wanted his head. Because of that he had fled the country rather quickly. The issue had been resolved in the meantime, but he still wasn’t sure if he wanted to return. Geralt looked at him with a grin.
“Don’t worry, you don’t have to see the Duchess. There is no reason she has to learn you are there and you are not longer wanted so it should be safe,” Geralt reassured him.
“You are right, and if someone wants my head, I have a strong Witcher to protect me,” he joked and slung an arm around Geralt’s shoulder. Geralt raised an eyebrow.
“Really who is he?” he asked with a grin.
“Just my best friend,” Jaskier answered, smiling. Geralt hummed in content.
“So, will you tell me, why you want to go to Toussaint of all places? It’s not for a contract, is it? Because the plan was to get away from everything.”
“No, it’s a surprise,” Geralt answered. Now he really had Jaskier’s attention because the bard felt like he needed to know what this was all about, but Geralt refused to say anything.
The next day, they returned to their horses and finally headed to the south.
Chapter 2
It took them a two weeks ride to reach the border of Toussaint. As Jaskier spotted the first vineyards he couldn’t hide his curiosity any longer.
“Where are we going, Geralt? Come on, tell me,” Jaskier whined. Geralt chuckled.
“You will see soon. The faster we go, the faster we are there.”
“Then let’s go,” Jaskier decided and spurred his horse into a faster pace. He heard Geralt following him and he passed Jaskier soon.
After a couple more hours, Geralt rode up to a vineyard surrounded by grassland. The main house looked beautiful and it was surrounded by some smaller houses, presumably the servant’s quarters. They dismounted in front of the stables, and a man wearing glasses took their horses. Jaskier had been too distracted by looking around to ask questions.
“Welcome Master Geralt, you should have sent word you would be coming! I would have prepared your bedroom and,” he looked at Jaskier, “the guestroom as well.”
“Don’t worry, B.B. you know I can do this myself,” Geralt answered with a smile.
“Ehm Geralt, what?” Jaskier asked. Geralt put a hand on Jaskier’s shoulder.
“Welcome to Corvo Bianco, my own vineyard.”
“Your what now? You own a vineyard? Why do you own a vineyard?” Jaskier asked confused.
“Got it from Anna Henrietta for a contract a while ago,” Geralt explained. Jaskier had no idea what he had expected when Geralt had asked him to go to Toussaint with him, but . The man with the glasses offered Jaskier his hand.
“Barnabas-Basil, I’m the Majordomo,” he introduced himself. Jaskier took the hand so politely offered.
“Jaskier,” he answered, “I’m the bard.”
“We will talk later, I’m showing my friend the estate first,” Geralt examined. Barnabas-Basil nodded.
“Sure, I take care of your horses and make sure your rooms and some food will be prepared,” he said and led the horses into the stables. Jaskier still stared around with wide eyes.
“So not only do you own a vineyard but you also have a bunch of servants? What happened to the humble Witcher I met back in Posada?”
Geralt put a hand on Jaskier’s back and led him away from the stables.
“I wouldn’t call them servants, more employees? They are mostly in charge of the wine production and get paid good for it. B.B. however insists on taking care of the house and food and everything when I’m here. I’ve given up telling him he doesn’t have to.
They crossed a little bridge over a small stream and entered a beautiful garden.
“Here we are growing some herbs that are useful for potions,” Geralt explained and gestured to the small patch full of different flowers, “as well as in the greenhouse.”
The greenhouse was a nice open building covered by roses. Jaskier recognized most of the plants, because he had seen Geralt collect them and brew them into potions. They crossed the garden.
“And here the grapes are growing. And before you ask, yes, we make wine, and yes, you are free to drink as much as you like,” Geralt explained with a grin. Jaskier grabbed Geralt’s arm dramatically.
“Oh Geralt, you truly do know me!” He exclaimed. Geralt seemed to be truly proud of his property, and rightfully so. It was beautiful, if the wine would even taste half as good, as everything was looking. Jaskier was planning to do a lengthy sampling to find out. Geralt chuckled and plucked Jaskier away from his arm.
“It was not hard to that figure out. Now come, I'll show you the house.” He turned and walked up to the mansion. Jaskier was amazed at how cozy it looked. The entrance hall was filled with comfy looking chairs and a couch. At the end of the gallery he spotted some armor stands, holding nice looking armors, and on the left wall he noticed a silver sword and a steel one. The place was maybe a little dark, due to the lack of windows. But the candles gave everything a warm light.
“Wow, it’s really nice, I wouldn’t have expected that from you, to be quite honest,” Jaskier teased.
“Of course, you wouldn’t. Because I’m merely a simple Witcher without any taste.” Jaskier looked at him grinning and slapped his shoulder.
“Exactly, my dear,” he answered and flopped down on one of the chairs, one leg propped over the armrest, already making himself at home.
“Immediately falling back into your heritage?” Geralt asked amused as he watched Jaskier, who really had adopted a posture, usually seen in nobility.
“I’m in a nice house and people might bring me food and wine? I think I could get used to that again.”
“They get paid to make wine, not to serve your lazy ass. You can get your own food. Come, I'll show you the kitchen.”
Jaskier huffed, as he got up again. “Disappointing. I’m a viscount!” He complained.
“You’re a nuisance, that’s what you are.” Geralt tried to sound annoyed, but he clearly was amused by the whole thing.
“You, my dear Witcher, are a terrible host,” Jaskier declared.
“Sure, hosting nobility wasn’t really part of the training in Kaer Morhen,” Geralt chuckled.
Jaskier was lying awake in the upstairs guestroom, situated over the master bedroom, where Geralt was probably deep asleep. He himself couldn’t. He should have been sleeping so much better than he had had in months. It was quiet, he had his own room, a big and really comfortable bed. He should have been getting the best sleep ever! But he was wide awake and he knew exactly why. He missed Geralt by his side. He had slept so much better on the dirty ground outside on the road, as long as Geralt was lying next to him. Finally, he decided to give up the idea of sleep altogether for now and got up. Maybe he could make some tea and sit outside for a bit, that might help.
Quietly he walked down the stairs and tried to navigate the dark hall on his way to the kitchen. Of course, he fell over one of the chairs and hit the ground loudly. That would have certainly woken Geralt up, if he hadn’t already been awake, as Jaskier realized when the kitchen door opened and he heard a concerned voice.
“Are you alright?” Jaskier couldn’t really see Geralt, he could barely see his silhouette but Geralt could probably see him clearly, lying on the floor.
“Yeah, just tripped,” he answered. Before he could sort out his limbs, Geralt was already by his side, pulling him up.
“Can’t sleep?” the Witcher asked.
“Not really, thought maybe I'd try some tea,” he answered as they walked over to the small kitchen.
“Me neither, and I've had the same idea,” Geralt answered. In the kitchen a kettle was already set above the fire and a mug with herbs stood next to it. Jaskier was relieved Geralt had made the fire, it was much easier for him to just use Igni. Geralt took out a second mug and added some herbs for the tea as well.
They went outside together and sat on a bench in front of the house, sipping their hot tea. It was a beautiful night. The stars sparkled above their heads, the air was warm and felt very clear.
Quickly Jaskier felt more and more tired and his head rest against Geralt’s shoulder. It was amazing how he had felt wide awake alone in the bed but as soon as Geralt was by his side he could immediately fall asleep. He felt how Geralt took the mug out of his hands and then a hand stroking through his hair, before he drifted into sleep.
When Jaskier woke up he felt well rested and safe. Geralt’s familiar presence next to him, an arm slung over his hip, was quite reassuring. He remembered falling asleep outside, leaned against Geralt, so the Witcher must have carried him inside. And he had decided to transport him in his own bed and not into the guestroom. One could argue that carrying a fully grown man upstairs would have to heavy, but Jaskier knew that for Geralt it was nothing. With a smile, Jaskier pressed himself against the Witcher’s chest and closed his eyes again. He silently wondered what time it was, but there was no way to tell since the room had no windows at all. But since Geralt seemed to be still asleep, he assumed it was still very early so he closed his eyes again and enjoyed the chance of being cuddled up to Geralt.
He had nearly fallen asleep again as Geralt started to wake up next to him. Jaskier was pulled closer against Geralt’s chest, before the Witcher quickly let go of him.
“Morning,” Jaskier greeted with a yawn. Geralt lifted a hand and with a quick flick if his fingers he ignited the candles in the room so for the first time, Jaskier could see it. He looked around. It wasn’t a big room, the large bed stood in the middle, headboard against the wall, right left to the door. There was a bookcase and a desk next to the door, and at the foot of the bed, he spotted two sideboards containing handshaped figures. One was holding a couple of cards, Gwent cards, Jaskier assumed. He looked at the other and started to laugh uncontrollable. It was shaped to form a life-sized fist.
“What is it?” Geralt asked still sleepy.
“Why do you have this standing in your bedroom?” Jaskier was still laughing as Geralt followed his pointing finger.
“It’s a fist fight trophy. Why shouldn’t I? I won it so I put it up in my house.” Geralt seemed genuinely confused.
“You seriously don’t see it?” Jaskier asked and prompted by Geralt’s questioning look he lifted his hands, one as a fist, one formed around his arm, moving the fist up and down. Geralt rolled his eyes.
“Do you always only think about fucking?” he asked and let himself fall back to the pillow.
“Well, fisting in that case.” Geralt groaned in response. Jaskier was still giggling as he continued to look around the room and a painting on the right of the bed caught his eyes and had him nearly choke. Geralt was sitting on a white horse, naked, holding a sword up. He looked over to Geralt who was propped up on his elbows again.
“You alright?” he asked.
“Yes, but why do you have this?” Geralt grumbled.
“This painter in Beauclair wanted to paint me, but failed to mention he would paint me naked. I bought it to get it off the streets,” he explained, clearly not happy with the course of events back then. Jaskier caught himself staring at the painting. He had seen Geralt naked a couple of times and he couldn’t deny, it was pretty accurate. And also looked really hot for some reason.
Toussaint had proved itself to be as beautiful as Jaskier remembered it. They had spent hours, just riding through the fields that surrounded Corvo Bianco. Soon after their arrival, Jaskier had found the wine cellar and make it his mission to sample every wine stored there. Geralt walked up to the wall Jaskier was sitting on, wine glass in one hand and wine bottle standing next to him. The Witcher pushed himself up to climb the small wall and sit next to Jaskier.
“Are you enjoying yourself?” he asked with a smile. Jaskier took another sip from his glass and smiled.
“Yes, very much! Do you want some?” he offered. He grabbed the bottle and wiggled it in front of Geralt’s face. Geralt took it from him but put it down next to him.
“Are you drunk, Jaskier?” he asked calmly.
“Just a little,” Jaskier giggled. Geralt ran his fingers through Jaskier’s hair with a fond smile.
“Thanks for bringing me here, it’s beautiful.” He couldn’t even say if he meant Corvo Bianco, Toussaint or the way Geralt’s hair was shimmering in the sun. Geralt’s frown had softened since they had been able to relax and the way Geralt was looking at him fondly. Probably all of it. Geralt jumped down from the wall again.
“Don’t drink too much,” he said, before he left again, doing who knew what.
It had become late, they had helped with the harvest and Jaskier was now sitting on the little wooden bridge leading over the stream, watching the orange sunset on the horizon. He heard quiet steps approach and looked up. Geralt sat down next to him.
“It’s so beautiful,” Jaskier said and Geralt hummed in agreement. He put an arm around Jaskier’s shoulder and the bard let himself fall against Geralt.
“Nearly as beautiful as you.”
Jaskier suddenly sat up straight again, his heart racing.
“What did you just said?” he asked, not sure if he had understood it right. But Geralt didn’t answer, he only lifted his free hand and took Jaskier’s hand between his fingers, gently brushing over the skin. So maybe he had understood rightly.
The sun vanished behind the hills and stars began to appear over their heads, they lied back and watched the white dots that where so far away. Jaskier’s head was settled on Geralt’s arm and they were still holding hands.
Jaskier turned to look at Geralt. Before they had arrived here, the Witcher had nearly never looked as relaxed as he did right now. Jaskier took all of his courage together, hoping he hadn’t wildly misinterpreted the signs and bent over Geralt to kiss him. Geralt didn’t push him away, he even wrapped his arms around Jaskier, tangling his fingers in the brown hair. As Jaskier pulled back again, Geralt’s hand moved from his hair to his cheek and the thumb stroked over Jaskier’s lips.
“I love you,” Jaskier finally said breathlessly and he could see the spark in Geralt’s eyes as he smiled and pulled him down into another kiss.
“I love you, too,” he breathed against Jaskier’s lips.

Cold Eyes, Warm Food pt.8
The businesswoman known as Jo, also known as the head of the Ranger Base and Rai’s boss, had sat in her chair thinking for a few minutes now.
The trio had been brief but detailed in their story, explaining how they had come together with the dream to form their team and had just barely achieved it several times before finally making it into the reserve teams, however, they haven't had a manager to help establish them into a fully-fledged team.
Jo found them interesting and their story compelling, but it wasn't compelling enough to get her to jump on board, however, she did have some interest in the one who spoke up to her. The tall, fair-skinned girl with intense eyes.
“Honestly I don't really care.” Jo stated as she began to rise to her feet.
“D-don't look down on us!” Konani spoke up as she stepped forward trying not to come off as threatening but her stature did some of that for her, with her softer voice contradicting it a bit.
“Yeah! Wer’e not gonna let you act like wer’e some bunch of losers.” Vea finally spoke up as her fire began to ignite once again.
The three women now all stood over Jo who seemed to actually be taken back by their actions.
She crossed her arms and began pondering a little longer, rubbing her temples before letting out a sigh.
“Why do you three want to do this so badly?” Jo asked, her patience was beginning to waiver.
“Cuz wer’e better than all of em’ other guys, especially Andrea Pesci!” Vea spoke up confidently and with a slight twinge of anger as this name came out of her mouth like a vile sludge even a Muk would recoil at.
This name drop had caught Jo’s attention slightly, but she wasn't going to let them know that. She did want to see just how far these girls were willing to go.
“And what makes you all so certain that you can beat them?” Jo questioned once more, she sat up in her chair as she was curious about their response.
“Because our skills and abilities are top notch!” Konani responded proudly as her Kommo-o joined her, sneaking its head under her hand to encourage her to give him attention which she happily did.
Jo’s interest was peaked, however she still had one question for them, this was their true test and they needed to answer correctly.
“And what if your skills arent enough to win?” She asked as her eyes peeked from behind her shades, her gaze was set on Tia.
The girl with the intese eyes caught the message and knew the answer.
“We will put in the work.” Tia responded with conviction and her teammates nodded in agreement.
Jo let out a little smirk at this answer before she stood up.
The three women took a step back in preperation for the news as a collective knot was tied in the womens stomachs and it was getting tighter by the minute.
“That’s a pretty bold claim, lets see if you can back it up.” Jo stated as she got up and dusted off her shoulder.
“D-does that mean?” Konani uttered.
“I’ll take on your challege of making you three into a succesful team.” Jo affirmed the three women that their searching was over, but inside, she was dreading just how much work this would be.
Vea and Konani leapt into each other’s embrace, their excitemt called for them to hug someone, even their Pokemon began cheering and stomping in delight.
Tia was just as excited internally but her body wouldnt allow her to cheer like her friends, instead she could feel her legs wanting to give out from under her as she staggered back by a step or two only to feel a large support at her back.
Mercy, her Noivern had been nearby and was ready to support her trainer. She knew she would trust her dragon with her life, she did it pretty regularrly in the air so what was some ground support to that?
With the sun setting Jo knew it was time to remove her protective shades, revealing her tired looking eyes with more dark circles than normal.
“Rai! Whip me up one of your energy drinks will ya? Four long metings in one day, mama needs a serious pick me up.” She chuckled.
Jo’s demeanor suddenly shifted from intimidating to much more relaxed and approachable, a bit of an emotional whiplash for the trio.
“You three come with me, we have business to discuss.” She added as she beconed the three women as she approached the cafe, Vea and Konani quickly complied.
Tia was still regaining her compusure as she leaned on her partner pokemon. She had been pushing so hard to make this become a reality and now she was getting closer than she’s ever been.
She could feel her emotions swelling up, was she going to cry or cheer? Maybe screaming was the right choice?
She held her arm over her eyes as she let this moment wash over her, she was trying to keep herself from sprialing in her own thoughts, however she just might be loosing this fight.
“Congratulations on winning my boss’s approval.” A familair friendly voice stated.
Tia moved her arm, quickly wiping any early forming tears away to see the Pokemon Ranger that served her this day.
He seemed different at this moment, taller perhaps? Maybe it was the setting sunlight that illuminated the small amount of golden brown in his eyes, or his warm and welcoming smile, it could have been the lower angle she was angled at but one thing was certain: she noticed him.
Normally she was noticed and bothered by men who were trying to get her attention or “woo” her and this caused more annoyance than anything. She had more important things to focus on and these bland people and their poor attempts to win her affections were just not worth her time.
Yet here was this guy who she had only met briefly in a freak collision involving herself, her Dragon-Type Pokemon, and him were not only bonding over some delicious food but had opened a door that she had been trying to break through for a long time.
He had reached out his hand to assist her back onto her feet, a small blush painting her cheeks as she reached for his hand. He wasn't very exceptional physically, but she could feel a natural strength as he helped her back to her feet with ease.
“Thank you.” She responded in her usual reserved manner, allowing her feet to adjust to being back on balance and focing on the ranger who had finally taken the time to remove his apron.
“It looks like you’ll be working hard with Jo soon. She will not be an easy leader, but she gets results.” Rai stated from his own prior experience with the inegima of a woman he called boss.
“You’ll probably be incredibly busy, but if you're free on the weekend, you can find me here. I’ll even hook you up with some food if you're ever hungry.”
Tia paused for a bit at the guesture of kindness, it simply felt unusual but she was not against it.
“I’d like that.” She smiled as she followed the Ranger towards the cafe.
Rai smiled back at the taller woman. Her eyes were normally intense and gave off a cold aura, but in this moment, her smile and her eyes were warm.
“I hope we will meet again soon.”
—--------
Only a few days had passed since that fateful encounter, and the weather couldn't be any better.
It was the middle of the week and Rai had the opportunity to do something he hadnt been able to ever, he was opening his Cafe during the middle of the week.
He was previously left to open and run both the Cafe and Mercado in his free time on the weeknds, however this would change as he now had some new hands to help run the place.
*Ding Ding*
The bell above the store entrance released its high pitch jingle, alerting the ranger that his help was here.
He rushed from the back of the kitchen into the main lobby of the cafe to greet his new helping hands.
“Good morning! We have a lot to go over, so I hope you're all ready to get started!” The ranger welcomed.
His new help consisted of three familiar faces, each were women of differing heights, ethnicies and personalities but they all shared one thing, an annoyed expression as they were adorned in a simple outfit of white button up shirts, black slacks, sneakers and a few different styles of aprons.
The final piece of their uniforms were their nametags that read: “Vea”, “Konani” and “Tia”.

12.52 diffrent solutions for the Foxy grid, along with other leads (will update if I find more)
The equation for how many solutions there are is (none Evan solutions) + (first Evan method) + 0.25*(all methods to get Evan - 1) + 0.01* (Every way to get N - 1)
Understanding the Cassidy solution
Understanding how we solved Cassidy will help us understand how the logbook expects us to solve these things. (And with Cassidy showing up in tfc 3 months after the log book, and a couple other places, Cassidy is probably the correct answer, so technically the method could be incorrect)
Cassidy solution from 6 years ago, & they got the numbers at 9:44 (video from 2018 June 3).
Possible solutions
Mary (incorrect page # + out of order # & Geocaching Decryption Key) Jan 1, 2018 (older than Cassidy solution)
I Show U (adding the digets of altered + red #s, converting #s to letters, Ceasars shift of 6, then by 3) 6 years ago
Spring trap (altered #s & red numbers + fnaf 3 post) 6 years ago
Afton (letters in the corner of the grid, (5+4)3=27 -> (2,7) which gets N) 4 years ago (does this count as another way to get N in Evan? Do I need to edit the title to 10.76?)
Evan (Responses & blood stains used to get N) 3 years ago
Evan (Responses & "adding up the score" of tallies + magazine to get N) 3 years ago
Dave (Responses + reflect solution) 3 years ago
Its Michael (counts things, go down the count, then across the pg # the thing was on) 2022 Feb 18. Go to 0:29
Evan (we meet again Evan) or Evaq (Happiest day, balloons + cakes + alive children solution) 1 year old & more detailed explanation (do the cake + kids count as a 4th alternative way to get N?)
ELJ (breaking up scared, converting to numbers, get ELJ -> Elijah) 8 months ago
Evyn or Evan (give it up for the 3rd way to find Evan y'all. This time the A is a stretch) (using what Foxy's ears, hook, and pointer finger are pointing at to get Evyn. Taking the highest point of his hook to get A and Evan) 2 months ago (not counting this as a 4-5th way to get N)
TRST (make the grid repeat ABC, count the grid on the rows, Ceasars shift, Trst -> Tristen)
Long (input ripped pages) ~Sep 17 2024
Bruce (number assigned to each question on a pg with tallies, tallies total) ~Sep 26 October
Cant (Responses + inserting foxing higher into the grid) reposted on ~Sep 29 October (Can't find original post)
Other Mics things but don't have one clear answer
Vigenere Chiper (results of note: 9 letters + 3rd last & 2nd last are the same letter like Alphonsus, or somthing ending in us, ay, om like Malcom) 6y
+7 Ceasars cipher (Max & Cacy) 8mo
Tallies & Binary (result, ZLQCVHYD) 1y
"Everything you'll possibly need for the Foxy Grid" if you want to add to this list. 2mo
Eva, Ave, Vea, Aev, Vae, Eav (pick any solution that gets Evan/Dave and remove the n/d) me, on Oct 12 2024
Yes, all of these are real names, so Eva, Vae, & Eva are only feminine according to Google. Every solution that has "E, V, A" starts making a stretch at the last letter. Unless someone can tell me why it needs to be a 4 letter name, maybe C.C's name is only 3 letters
