Saturday Morning Vid Recs - Space and Robots
@tafkarfanfic asked me for vid recs that are similar to the following vids:
Data’s Dream by GayleF (Gayle) and TasheryS which premiered at Escapade in 1994 - made on a VCR!! - and was remastered by morgandawn in 2004. Definitely check out the Fanlore page about Data’s Dream. Star Trek + multi-source.
Starships by bironic. Multi-source. The history of Starships on Fanlore.
These two vids are iconic. Please check them out and learn about their history from the Fanlore page, it's a great look at some vidding history and culture. Amazing vids, do love. As for some recs. I love this kind of prompt. More vids like [this vid] is so much fun. I dug deep into my vid rec archives and brain and bookmarks. I’ve also crowdsourced some recs from the vidding discord. Thank you to @rukbat3, @sandalwoodbox, @fairestcat, @monkeyswithjetpacks, @grammarwoman for the reccing help! And everyone else I might have forgotten.
From Land to Sky - and kicking ass while you're there!
Landsailor by @singlecrow/raven. Multi-source. Swades (We, The People); Master and Commander; 3 Idiots; The Dish; The West Wing; Parks and Recreation; Flight of the Phoenix; NASA archive footage; Apollo 13. ❤️ We're gonna need a bigger boat. Come O’ Eclipse by melodytree. Tenchi: The Samurai Astronomer. Calendar-making! Math puzzles! Astronomy! Politics! Eclipses! Oh my! Galaxyrise by starlady. Multi-source. Apollo 13 (1995), Interstellar (2014), Gravity (2013), Europa Report (2013), Contact (1997), The Martian (2015). This vid is full of so much wonder! The sky calls to us/If we do not destroy ourselves/We will one day venture to the stars. Going through space with the world by bironic. Space Exploration RPF. ❤️❤️❤️ From "day in the life of an astronaut" videos to international stardom; or, Chris Hadfield and his adorable mustache. Monsters of the Cosmos by CherryIce. Thor/MCU. Jane Foster/Science.Cherrys editing is goddamn incredible. In the last century, black holes have gone from being mathematical curiosities to real objects in the cosmos. This is a vid about Jane Foster and her one true love, Science. Also, Thor is there. Toxic by JinkyO. The Planets (TV - 2019). Humanity/The Solar System. This vid is so fucking brilliant and makes me cackle in love and awe so much. It's dangerous, I'm loving it. Sci-Fi Friday in a Blender by Luminosity. Multi-source. Farscape, Battlestar Galactica and Doctor Who. So much happening in this vid. This is among one of the earliest vids I remember watching and became obsessed with back in the day. Supernova Girl by @usuallyhats. Multifandom. Doctor Who, Star Wars, Babylon 5, Steven Universe, Andromeda, Farscape, Battlestar Galactica, Firefly, Mass Effect, Stargate. So many wonderful brilliant amazing EXCELLENT supernova women and girls. Zoom, zoom, zoom. Space Girl by @aurumcalendula. Multi-source scifi. Inspired by Charmax’s Space Girl vid and Bironic’s The Greatest. This vid has a great selection of newer tv shows and films and it’s fun to play spot that character. But also this vid will grab you by the heart, too. Utterly brilliant, perfection. A must watch!! 'I've been as far in hyperspace as anybody can.' One Girl Revolution by bessyboo. Star Wars, original and prequel. Padme and Leia!! Seeing these two focused on in one Star Wars vid is an adventurous kickass ride. I'll be everything that I want to be. Space Girl by charmax. Multi-source scifi. One of the most beautiful epic space vids out there! I know I’ve recced this before and I’ll rec it again and again and again. My momma told me I should never watch Sci-fi but I did, I did, I did.
Robots! More than wires.
If a Machine by caramarie, Multi-source. Robot narrative focusing on machine origin, intelligence, and interaction with humanity. And Human fallibility. An incredibly rewarding watch and rewatch. This is the story of cables and copper wirings. Electric Avenue by @monkeyswithjetpacks. Multi-source robots! Nate’s multi-vids are always so fun, especially when it’s showcasing classic cinema and all these excellent serials. Electric Avenue has source from 1919 to 2015. His editing is always on fucking point. Don’t miss this vid. We’re gonna rock down to electric avenue. Everybody by @kuwdora. Star Trek, the Borg. This vid was actually inspired by the Backstreet Boys original music video. I still have the vivid memory of watching or rewatching the original music video in @ars-amatoria ’s kitchen. And then at some point realizing it is perfect for the Borg. Am I original, am I the only one? Fembots by Grammarwoman. Multi-source. Sexy sharp editing and fun use of all the sources. The intersection of women and technology: a spectrum of clones, AIs, gynoids, cyborgs, and other artificial creations. On by @rhoboat77. Star Trek: Picard. A Soji fanvid. Rho has the sharpest editing skills this side of the Internet and this Soji vid is so fucking badass and worth 100 rewatches. Can’t hold me down cuz you know I’m a fighter. Que Sera Sera by @ohvienna. Star Trek Voyager and Picard. Seven of Nine.Nobody vids their Seven of Nine love like @ohvienna. You gotta watch this if you love Seven. Whatever will be, will be…"
Journey through Space.
To Touch the Face of God by destina. Multi-source. The Right Stuff (1983, )The Dream Is Alive, From the Earth to the Moon (TV).This is one of the most beautiful moving vids you will EVER, and I mean EVER see. From Chuck Yeager, to the Mercury 7, and on to Apollo and the Space Shuttle Program (STS) - a very human history of the triumphs, joys, and tragedies of the USA's journey into space. Doctor Who on Holiday by sisabet. Farscape, Battlestar Galactica and Doctor Who. A mashup vid of Luminosity’s Sci-Fi Friday in a Blender. This vid inspired me so much. And I have 10 very intense ideas about how I would do my own remix of this vid if I were to make it right now. Fly Me To the Moon by thirdblindmouse. Multi-source. This vid has everything! Alien sex! Xenophilia! Zero-gravity sex! Mpreg!!! Because everyone knows this song is about space sex. Game Night in Space by garrideb. Multi-source. This vid!!!!! IS! SO! MUCH! FUN!! Game on! How are you going to spend those long nights on your starship? Play games, of course! Space poker, space chess, space Monopoly… this is a fanvid celebrating game night in space, set to Don't Stop Me Now by Queen. Starships (Monochromatic Remix) by @monkeyswithjetpacks. Multi-source. See the Fanlore page on the history of Starships (Monochromatic Remix). ALSO check out jetpack-monkey’s extensive notes and side-by-side comparison vid of the original vid and his vid!! He matched Starships shot-for-shot! Most brilliant work ever. The vid notes aren’t on the ao3 page so I HIGHLY recommend checking out the notes on his dreamwidth page! This vid is 10 million kinds of brilliant and technical prowess and perfection.

So much "kids these days don't even remember [blank]!" stuff is dependent on like, poverty. We were recording TV shows on vhs tapes until 2013. Because we were fucking poor and in 2013 a vcr was still cheaper than an internet hookup. I found out what wifi was around the same time. I had no idea what it did before then, except that it was something rich people had. I used a slider phone until I was a senior in high school despite the fact that it was 2015. And I promise you I know how to use portable CD players. Do you think my parents were in a position to get me an ipod? Plenty of people were further behind us, too. Just because a technology was obsolete at the time doesn't mean everyone below a certain income level wasn't still using it.

An Overlord's Tail - Chapter 3
An Overlords Tail Chapter 1 | Chapter 2 | Chapter 3 | Chapter 4 | Chapter 5 | Chapter 6 | Chapter 7 | Chapter 8 | Chapter 9 | Chapter 10
Summary: You move into the Hotel. Alastor's shadow is a pest. Warnings: No warnings. This story is 18+, minors can fuck right off.
Other Notes: none
____________________________________________
Chapter 3: Celebrations
“There is no time like the present to forget the past, my dear.” He cupped your face in his free hand. You placed your hand on top of his and closed your eyes.
You struggled today, with the poor amount of sleep you got the night before and how low your emotional battery was running. You had been staring at the same document for over 20 minutes now. And Alastor had taken notice. It infuriated him. He could smell Vox on you. Your eyes were swollen and puffy from crying. He’d spent all week tormenting you without a single tear yet that idiot Vox could get this kind of reaction out of you? Unacceptable. He wanted to be the one making you cry, watch your face as warm streams leak from your eyes, because of him, for him. Just for fun. And it would be, because of how strong you were. You were thick skinned and it would take work to chip away at you. Alastor felt excited, he hadn’t found much interest in the people around the hotel, not like this. He wanted to crawl inside you and corrupt you from the inside out. He wanted to replace every memory of Vox with a better one of himself. He would own you, eventually. He was certain.
“Not your cheery self today, eh?” Alastor teased.
“Huh?” You snapped out of it, quickly wiping a tear about to fall. “Oh, sorry. Uh, rough night.”
“Maybe it would be in your best interest to reside here at the Hotel? If your current living arrangement is proving to be… distracting.”
“Would that be you accepting that I’m a good fit for this position?” you teased.
“Hmm. Well, I do have to admit, you’ve gotten a lot more done around here than most,” he pulled a hotel key out of his pocket, handing it to you. “A room has been made ready for you.”
You knew Alastor wasn’t just handing out kind gestures, this was a low-key shot at Vox, taking something he wanted away from him. But he was admitting he didn’t want to get rid of you. And with how fragile you felt at the moment, it felt like kindness.
“Thank you, Alastor.” Taking the key another tear escaped, running down your face.
“He’s not worth your tears, darling,” he wiped the wet streak off your face with a claw. “Trust me on that.”
Alastor licked the salty moisture off his finger as he walked away.
Angel and Husk offered to help you move. It didn’t take very long, you didn’t own much. You left the mattress since there were much nicer beds at the hotel. Your life was a total of five boxes. It made you feel a little pathetic. You stopped to take in the apartment one last time. You hated this shit hole and yet you felt sad leaving it. Maybe it represented the last bit of the life you were leaving behind. Was this a real reason you didn’t move into the hotel sooner? Even if you didn’t keep the job you could stay and take a shot at redemption. Why did this hurt? Angel placed a sympathetic hand on your shoulder. You wondered if this was similar to how he felt leaving Valentino and coming to the hotel.
Your room was much bigger than you pictured, it was a corner room with a beautiful view of Pentagram City. You couldn’t help but notice your room was right under Alastor’s. You unpacked your clothes into the wardrobe and placed your toiletries in the bathroom. The tub was huge, you could not wait to take a hot bath. Your apartment had a tiny shower stall, whenever Vox left you alone at his penthouse you could always be found in the tub. Now you had one of your own. Another thing you didn’t need him for, a small victory. Lastly, you unpacked your small VCR TV and VHS cassettes. You were a 90’s child at heart, while you died in 2015, you held on to the few nostalgias you could find.
After putting on your pajamas you wandered down to the kitchen, you were so busy moving that you forgot to eat. Your fuzzy bunny slippers shuffled on the carpet. As you reached the lobby Angel called out for you from the bar.
“Hey toots! Come over here and celebrate with us!”
“Celebrate what?” you asked
“Being free from, well, you know. Might not feel like it right now, but you took a huge step in a new direction today,” Angel smiled at you. “You should be proud of yourself.”
“I agree with Angel. Good for you. Can I make you a drink?” Husk asked.
“A Dirty Shirley please.”
Husk slid the glass over to you. You didn’t really enjoy sweet things that much but your grandma used to make you Shirley Temples as a kid. And the vodka evened out the sweetness of it. You plucked the cherry from the drink by the stem and raised it to your mouth. A black blur flashed in front of you and it was gone, you were left holding the stem. Alastor’s shadow cackled and swished away.
“Yeah….” you looked confused. “I’m not sure what that’s about.”
“Yah didn’t think Alastor was going to stop tormenting yah, did yah?” Angel laughed “Maybe his shadow’s got a crush on you. Haha,” Angel paused for a second. “Wait, can you fuck a shadow?”
“Sorry to say kid, but the more he bothers you, the less he bothers us,” Husk chuckled.
“Well, that sounds like I’m doing you all a favor…” you said slyly. “I’m going to remember that for later.” You winked.
One drink turned into three or four. You had forgotten what it was like to have friends, work had consumed you fully for so long. And any extra time you had usually was spent with Vox. For once you were enjoying yourself. But the fact that you still hadn’t made it to the kitchen was catching up with you. The drinks were hitting you hard.
You said your goodnights and shuffled to the kitchen, knowing if you didn’t eat something tomorrow would be even less pleasant. Just a snack, something easy. You spotted a box of cheese crackers, bingo. You fumbled with the package as you made your way to your room. Not paying attention to things around you, you hit the floor with a thud and a yelp. Alastor’s shadow had tripped you. You lay on your back, groaning.
“Oh dear me, you poor thing,” Alstor stood over you, smiling.
“Hey, Peter Pan. Do you want to reel in your shadow? That thing is a fucking menace.”
“Whatever do you mean? I think you might be intoxicated my dear. And quite clumsy.”
“Both can’t be true? Pfft.”
“Oh come now, he just likes you! That’s all.”
You stumbled as you got up, snatching the cracker box off the ground. You continued to struggle, pulling at the bag inside the box. You pulled hard and slipped, your hand hitting your face.
“For fucks sake.” You grumbled, slouching against the wall with a groan.
You didn’t notice but when you fell you bit your lip. You lightly touched your finger to the swollen area, and with a hiss, you pulled away quickly, a smear of blood on your finger.
“Hahaha. You are such an interesting specimen.” He grabbed your hand, looking at the blood on your finger. “When it comes to your work, you are collected and methodical. But yet, somehow, in your personal life- well I haven’t seen a mess like you before.” He licked the blood from your finger.
“Ok.. Ew,” you pulled your hand away. “Well that tends to happen when you ignore yourself and focus purely on work,” you sighed, pulling at the bag. “Being a workaholic is much easier than addressing your feelings.”
Alastor leaned his arm against the wall, trapping you in between. You didn’t consider this a sexual move. You knew enough from Vox’s bitch fests that Alastor wasn’t particularly interested in sex. You assumed he was just trying to make you uncomfortable. But his face was incredibly close to yours. You hid your bleeding lip under your teeth, slightly worried he’d lick that too. Instead, he ran a claw across the bag in your hand, opening it. You looked down at the bag and then back at him, delighted. He was pleased to see your face light up, like a child receiving a new toy. You popped a cracker in your mouth with blissful satisfaction.
“Oh. I’ve been meaning to ask you - “ Realizing you were talking with your mouth full, you paused and swallowed. “Is there a way to soundproof my room?”
“And what, pray tell, would you be doing that requires a measure such as that?” He leaned in, smelling your hair. You ignored it.
“Nothing interesting, unfortunately. But I do like to listen to music loudly. And with absolute certainty, I can say that you wouldn’t enjoy it.”
“How considerate of you.” He ran a claw through your hair. “Very well.” He stood straight and headed towards your door.
“Oh.. right now? Alright.”
He opened the door for you, following behind. Aggravated. Did you not care about your personal space? How was he so far off the mark with you? You might be accustomed to working for overlords but were you not at all frightened of him? You still smelled of Vox and it further flamed his annoyance.
“Did you not move your things here?” He asked, looking at the bare room.
“I did,” you pointed to the VCR TV on the dresser and sat on the bed “I don’t own much. Workaholics tend to live at work,” you stopped to think. “Haha and now I am literally living at my work.”
“This is outdated, is it not?” Alastor picked up a VHS
“Correct. The last VHS was made in 2006,” you shrugged “It’s a comfort thing I think. A reminder of better days.”
He found it charming that you also held onto the past in similar ways that he did. He read the back of the VHS cover in curiosity.
“I think you’d actually like that one.”
“Oh?”
“It’s about an FBI agent hunting a serial killer that likes to wear his victim's skin. And to do so she needs the help of another killer, who is a cannibal.”
“Hmm. I suppose if I was to watch one of... these… that premise does sound appealing.”
You jumped up and pulled open the dresser drawer. It was full of VHS tapes.
“This one, he kills his victims in their dreams. This one is about a serial killer who gets trapped inside a doll. This one is about zombies. These three are about vampires. And this one, one of my favorites, the killer psychologically torments people over the phone before stabbing them to death.” Alastor couldn’t help but notice the genuine smile you had on your face, sharing your videos about murder. He found it very endearing. “If you ever want to watch one, tell me. But I know TV isn’t your thing.”
“I appreciate the offer either way.” And he did, with the exception of Charlie’s silly group nonsense, Alastor was rarely invited to join others in activities. He didn’t mind that of course, he being the cause of why no one asked. But for whatever reason, your invitation seemed authentic. “Well, let us take care of the task at hand.”
You sat on the bed and watched. Alastor placed his hand on the wall and a green shimmer rippled through the room. The thought that there was a place in the hotel where no one could hear you scream was thrilling to him. He was more than happy to accommodate your request. He watched your drunk-slited eyes follow the magic along the walls, following it over the ceiling and eventually tilting too far and falling backward onto the bed. Alastor laid down on his side next to you, propping his head up with his hand.
“You don’t hold your liquor well, do you?”
“Never really have, no,” you laughed and rolled to your side to face him, struggling to keep your eyes open. You giggled. “Once at a work party, I threw up on Valentino’s fur coat. He was soooo pissed. He and Vox didn’t speak, for like, a week.”
“If you don’t mind me asking, what did he do to break your trust?” Alastor asked.
“He uh… I caught him hypnotizing me. I was looking through footage for another project and came across it. Turns out he’s been doing it for a while. And now I don’t know what is real and what isn’t.” You let out a heavy exhale. “It’s really fucking with me.”
Alastor felt a slight pang of guilt before shoving it back down with the rest of his feelings he chose to ignore. Vox hurt you badly by manipulating you and Alastor aimed to do similarly, if not the same. The gentleman, the man his mother raised, felt that guilt. But just for a moment before it was washed away by the man, the monster, Alastor had become.
“There is no time like the present to forget the past, my dear.” He cupped your face in his free hand. You placed your hand on top of his and closed your eyes.
You woke, groggy and hungover. You remembered talking to Alastor. When did you fall asleep? When did you get into bed? You rolled over, there was a glass of water and a bottle of ibuprofen on the nightstand that you didn’t remember getting. You thought about the affection Alastor gave you the night before and cringed a little. You were sure he’d give up on that too eventually.
It was Saturday. You and Angel had plans to go shopping. You realize you didn’t actually own enough regular clothes to cover the whole week. You put on shorts and spaghetti-strap top. If you could rely on Hell for anything, it was that it was always hot. You put your long hair in two messy buns on your head.
“Hey there Sailor Moon, you ready to hit the mall?” Angel called out to you as you entered the lobby.
“Fuck yeah I am”
You spent a large portion of the day at the mall with Angel. 90’s fashion was popular again on Earth and it had trickled down to Hell. You were ecstatic. It felt a lot like the days when you and your friends would be mall rats, with no money, and nothing to do, so you’d hang out at the mall all day. Angel was entertaining and it was nice feeling like you had a friend. You felt reenergized, having a day to yourself, doing things just for you and no one else in mind. You did find it interesting that people stared. You’d forgotten how famous Angel was, it felt a lot like being friends with the popular girls in school, which you weren’t. You ate at the food court, cautiously, still feeling a bit hungover. Afterward, you got your nails done at the salon. Angel was kind enough to pay for everything until you got your first check.
Arriving back at the Hotel, you and Angel dragged in several bags of shopping therapy. Say what you will about it, treating yourself did make you feel a lot better about things. You took a long bath with the new products Angel recommended, including a bright pink fizzy bath bomb. You ended the night watching movies with Angel and Husk in the entertainment room. Lucifer made popcorn and joined in around the second movie. Charlie and Vaggie followed.
You looked around at this new group of people. No, a new group of friends. And for the first time in a very long time, you felt like things might be okay.
But what was that Alastor said about hope?

From "Broken Bow" to "Calypso"
Since 2010, I rewatch all of Star Trek every five years during that calendar year.
Obviously since 2017 this has become an increasingly daunting task.
Usually I'd start with TNG + those movies then do DS9 --> Voyager --> Enterprise and end with ToS and the movies. Since 2015 I did the TNG/DS9/Voyager by stardate instead of full series. (Which means mixing episodes the last 2 seasons of TNG and first 2 of DS9 together, and the same for the last 5 DS9 + first 5 Voyager)
This time, I decided to do the entire universe by stardate.
Which means yesterday I started with Enterprise, Broken Bow.
Honestly I think starting with Enterprise is going to mean the first four dozen episodes are going to make it a bit rough of a beginning. But, I've been wanting to do the complete Stardate rewatch for a long time.
And also I forgot Broken Bow is double-sized premiere, like most of the series start out with a double sized episode, so I only made it through half last night and half today.
According to this list, which includes the movies and Short Treks, there are 897 episodes of Star Trek. But was last updated a year or so ago so it doesn't include the latest/final seasons of Prodigy (20 episodes), Discovery (10 episodes) or Lower Decks (10 episodes), nor the upcoming Section 31 movie or Strange New Worlds (10 episodes), so that's more like 948 episodes to get through.
*edit* Oh, it also put all 3 Kelvin movies on one line. So we're looking at an actual 950 "episodes".
(Not going to think about Starfleet Academy or Tawny's resort planet project, though those could happen before I make it there, too, since both will happen relatively late in the stardate order, but would be added in.)
Which means I'd have to watch an average of about 3 a day to get through all in a year.
For TAS, Short Treks, Prodigy and Lower Decks, that's easy.
But there's... what like 15 movies (including the Kelvin movies!) to get through in there, too, and this list counts double episodes like Encounter at Farpoint and Broken Bow as one episode.
Also, I paused keeping up with Robert Duncan McNeil & Garett Wang's Delta Flyers podcast when they started doing DS9 with Terry and Armin because I realized since it'd been 4 years or so since I'd watched any DS9 episodes that I wanted to rewatch as I listened/watched the podcast. When I get to the DS9 part of the rewatch it's going to be watching an episode or two then catching up on the podcast along with it, and Delta Flyers episodes (unlocked on the patreon) are often close to two hours long.
So yeah, I may turn this into a 2 year project now instead of 1. I may also want to re-listen to some of the Delta Flyers episodes when I watch Voyager, which, the first 5 seasons will also be mixed in with DS9 anyway.
There's other shows I want to watch besides about 950 episodes of Star Trek, too. So I'm going to commit to one episode a day of hour-long Trek and two of animated Trek and who knows how long the DS9/Voyager bit might take. I'll more than likely be ahead of that timeline most of the time, but then the Great DS9 Slowdown will happen so... I might even it out by then.
I'll give myself 2 years to get it done, that's more than doable.
Some of the watching will probably be more background noise while I'm working or doing other things. I've seen every episode of 1960's - 2000's (Enterprise) era trek at least 4 times each, many of them many more times, some TNG episodes I've probably watched closer to 20 times, (as a teen, any Wesley Crusher episodes got heavy VCR rotation time, OK?) so unless it's one I'm really looking forward to, they probably won't always get my full attention.
---
Also I have a ton of Star Trek novels which I've never read. I also own original copies of the first 30 or 40 TNG novels from the 80/90's when I would buy them with my allowance, so I may re-read some of those for the first time in 35ish years, and I think it'll be time for readthrough #3 of Kristen Beyer's Voyager novels pretty soon, too to get my J/C fix in.
First up, I want to read all of the post-Enterprise "Trip lives!" novels in the next year or two. I've read The Good That Men Do, which brings Trip back, and loved it, so I'm planning on making some reading time in the next few months as well.
---
So hey, I'll probably make some commentary about it all here on tumblr along the way.
Add "annakie's star trek stuff" to the blacklist if you don't want to ever see anything about this ever again.

Here's another article about the current contraction within Hollywood, this time focusing on the crew members. My question is, what will it take for Hollywood to break out of the current contraction, if it does, or is this the new normal?
.
Link. There will be a new normal, this is probably the 3rd new normal in my lifetime. Due to the boom era that culminated during the streaming decade, peaking in 2015, a lot of people moved to L.A and got into the industry. Now it's the bust era and there's a surplus of crew and a shortage of projects. A lot of people are going to get weeded out. Only some will be able to stay in the industry, others who aren't working will find other work while they bide their time, move to another city with more projects (and not enough crew), or leave the industry altogether. Eventually we'll be back at something closer to equilibrium, but with lot less crew members in the industry in LA. That goes the same for actors, writers, and producers.
Back in 19'70s, legacy studios were going belly up because people moved out to the suburbs and stayed home to watch TV instead of going out to see movies. Same problem today, covid lockout taught people to wait for movies to leave the theater and show up on their streaming services 80 days later. During the '70s, independent films took off, including something called Star Wars. Soon blockbusters were in and small quirky arty films were out and the "Hollywood Renaissance" era began. In contrast the Japanese own film industry never won their battle against tv.
The current tv landscape also reminds me of the 1990s when network TV struggling to regain an audience in the age of cable, the VCR/DVD, and satellite TV. Then they discover The Bundle. The cable-tv bundle was very lucrative because companies were paid twice: first by cable distributors, which shelled out billions every year to have channels like ESPN available for their subscribers, and then by advertisers, which opened their wallets to promote products alongside the hottest shows. Now that era is gone due to cord cutting so they're figuring out a new bundling scheme with streaming services.
But the current problem today is also started back in the 1990s when tech nerds started to take over Hollywood, they didn't understand show business and why tv and film budgets exploded since the 90s. That problem came home to roost in the 2020s, resulting in slashing production budgets by 60%.
Excerpt from the article:
Even the shows and films shooting in L.A. now have slashed many departments, he added, noting sets that historically employed 20 hairstylists now have just two or three.
Orion said “9-1-1” was a “very hard show,” noting that crew member Rico Priem recently died in a car accident after pulling a 14-hour overnight shift. “We were all tired, it was a very terrible thing,” Orion said after noting that hours on sets are generally “brutal and relentless."
Outside of the U.S., several countries, including the United Kingdom, New Zealand and Australia, are offering cushy tax incentives for studios, where they can bypass unions and pay crews lower wages than in the States.

.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。. .・。.・゜✭・.・✫
September, 1989
Between work and rehearsing for the new album, Keeva was exhausted. The summer season at the café was thankfully ending, but autumn wasn’t much better - all those specials and syrups and foams. She felt like she would soon have hazelnut chocolate running through her veins instead of blood and it's only been a few days.
They were leaving for LA in two weeks to record. She was thrilled but extremely nervous. The pressure wasn’t just from the label or from themselves, it felt like the whole of Seattle was holding its breath, too.
Everyone was asking about it. Everyone wanted a taste of ‘Andy's band’s new masterpiece’, the big thing they've been working on for almost two years. Even the people who didn’t like them too much had this morbid curiosity about what the unrightfully popular wannabe-glam metal assholes Mother Love Bone will unveil.
And Keeva loved the material, but making it was like going through unnaturally prolonged labour. There were songs she wasn’t completely satisfied with and even though she poured her heart and soul into them, she still felt like she was doing a half-assed job.
She just wished there was more opportunity to do some weird experimental shit, bring in something totally crazy and feel appreciated for it.
She loved every single guy in that band fully and dearly, but the musical differences were a deep chasm on the bad days. She felt like getting the record done would be a huge band-aid finally ripped off and that it would allow them to have some clean slate at last.
Right before leaving, they had a show opening for The Red Hot Chilli Peppers at The Moore, which was extremely exciting. Keeva had seen them once before Hillel died, but after that happened, she was quite devastated.
Another one.
She was hesitant to even listen to them after that, let alone see them live, but this was a perfect opportunity to check out their new guitarist. From what she’d heard, he was quite the prodigy.
They had the greatest night to unwind a couple of weeks ago, too, because The Cult were in town opening for Metallica. Stone had a whole MTV shtick with Josh, who brought his trusty VCR. She was a bit sceptical, but as always, he was stubbornly insisting.
“Pretty please, Baby? Come on, it will be so fucking irresistibly awkward, we gotta do it.”
When she walked up to the back door of the Centre Coliseum on the moody evening, she could see Stone’s looming figure clad in his yellow sweatshirt, explaining something to Josh, who had the camera pointed at his face.
Oh god, he wasn’t kidding.
Keeva whistled, making them both turn at her.
“Oh, look who it is, the prodigal daughter,” Stone mused to the camera when she arrived with a wide grin. She huddled herself deeper in her thick scarf, her black leather jacket subtly glowing in the amber light of lamps. “Cheerio, Baby!”
“Hey, Pooky!” Josh waved and moved his camera just at the right moment to catch Stone flicking Keeva’s freezing red nose. She slapped his hand away and gave him a quick hug.
“Evening, gentlemen. Where’s Cindy?”
“Went back home for spare batteries.”
“What’s this little manifesto mean? I demand my backstage pass,” she pulled out her best posh accent while hugging Josh and then crossed her arms, theatrically puffing her chest out.
“Jeff Ament was supposed to meet us here,” Stone turned to the camera to address the non-existent audience. “Give us a key to the insider knowledge of Seattle rock. He’s abandoned us, though. Everyone has…and, uh -”
“And now we’ll freeze to death. Let that be on our gravestones,” she shook her head with a disappointed sigh. “Here lie blah, blah. Died of hypothermia, Anno Domini 1989. Jeff Ament stole their golden tickets.”
“They’ll bury us and these policemen in a mass grave,” he quickly nodded to the group of cops behind them. Keeva frowned.
“Woah, woah, woah. I don’t wanna be in a grave with you,”
“Why not?" he shrugged. "I’m known for being a darling guy.”
“‘Cause you…snore?” she raised her eyebrows as if it was the obvious answer, narrowing her eyes.
They all giggled and Keeva closed her eyes to compose herself before reaching up to tug her scarf higher, covering her icy ears.
“Do you want my jacket? I really don’t think you have enough layers on. It’s only like, what, sixty degrees?”
“I don’t know what that means, Yank. I’m still on the Celsius scale - you know, like a civilized person.”
“Yeah, sure thing, grandma,” he condescendingly tapped her cheek and then shook his head with a disapproving stare into the camera. “Fine, let’s make our death a little bit more intimate.”
Stone sat on the curb and patted the empty space next to him.
“Sit. Sit with me, my children.”
Oh, Stone. When Keeva gave him the clumsy proposition, she didn’t expect him to be so thorough with it. Her already thin hopes were wavering more and more as weeks from their encounter turned into months, but then he just came up to her one day and audaciously swept her off the counter she was sitting on, threw her over his shoulder and never looked back.
“I’m bored,” he’d said.
And every time since then, he came up with a new bullet-proof excuse.
“Tammy pissed me off at work. I had to throw out a whole batch of pretzel dough because it apparently wasn't salty enough, I need a wind-down.”
“Writer’s block. My brain feels like a tin bucket, gotta make sure I still have human needs…yup. Plenty needs.”
One time he even came up and knocked on the wooden frame of her room at 3 AM as if he could tell she was wide awake.
“Hey. Uh, can’t sleep? Want me to help with that?”
She brought that one upon herself. A few nights prior to that, that was her excuse. It took so much work, but she managed to push herself to hop down and ask him.
He was one to be fast asleep at around midnight, but lately, he’d been staying up unusually late. He must’ve been stressed about the recording - that’s what she guessed, anyway. It wasn’t like he’d tell her.
When she reluctantly pattered down the stairs, he was lying in his bed, clutching his guitar to his chest and staring at the ceiling. He looked so deep in thought that she almost turned back again - it seemed inhumane to disturb him. His pipe was sitting on his bedside table, burning through the unattended clump of weed - as if he was using it instead of an incense burner.
“How wasteful.”
His head snapped towards her as if she’d just slapped him, his eyes wide for a split second before he relaxed. He gave her a careless shrug and looked away again, back to the peeling burgundy paint.
“Polygram money,” he muttered, surprisingly unamused. She just stood there, scratching the wooden pillar. The pipe’s muted sizzling was hypnotizing - maybe she could fall asleep if she just focused on it. Let it be her lullaby, sparing her pride and -
“What’s the occasion?”
She couldn’t turn back now. He already read her, maybe even before she walked down. Always remembering the slightest details. That made her knees buckle, so she had to lean on the pillar to support herself - she folded her arms and hoped that he would think of it as her being cool instead of weak.
“I can’t sleep,” she said, keeping her voice just above a whisper.
Stone scoffed and crossed his legs, mindlessly plucking the low E on his guitar.
“What’s it to me?”
She didn’t understand why he was being so dismissive. Was she not kind enough in her approach? Respectful enough? Careful enough? Was her tone too snarky? Was her hair greasy?
Fuck, it’s the zit on my chin. Or do I have something in my teeth? Oh no, and there’s an egg yolk smear on my t-shirt. I knew I shouldn’t have eaten those fucking pancakes. And the cellulite is getting worse, too, Jesus fucking Christ. Why didn’t I put pants on?! I’m getting way too comfortable.
Bruised spongy legs and dirty pyjamas, the epitome of womanhood. That’ll surely do it for him.
“I need a reason,” he mumbled. His soft voice was like honey to her ears, snapping her out of her dissociation. Such harsh words, spoken in such a sickeningly sweet tone.
There’s no such thing as God. If there was, he wouldn’t give this asshole such an irresistible face. ‘Cause that’s just cruel.
He looked so sincere, though. So unbothered, practical. Just staring upwards, plucking the same string over and over, face softly obscured by the smoke coming out of the pipe next to him. His nonchalance was intoxicating - contagious.
She couldn’t properly think her response through, her vocal cords worked faster than her brain.
“You’re impressively good at putting me to sleep.”
Fuck. Daft cow.
The quack-like giggle he let out before he sat up broke her weakly composed facade.
“Baby, we really gotta work on that flirting game of yours or no one’s ever gonna sleep with you,” he tutted and dusted pancake crumbs off his striped boxers. He reached out to take a big hit of the burnt chunk that was left in his pipe. “No one but me, that is. You know I’m easy.”
Even on the night of The Cult gig, he had flawless reasoning. At least that was what it seemed like to her after Ian Astbury's graciously gifted shots.
“I’m drunk. You’re drunk, too.”
Although, she was tipsy enough to not contest it even beforehand - tipsy from his stupid running joke that was getting old even before the gig began.
“The policemen outside recognized me from the ‘wanted’ posters around Pioneer Square so I had to run for it,” she jogged back to her tandem of idiots after taking a quick smoke break outside. She tapped her thigh. “They caught up but then I showed them this sweet little backstage pass. I promised them Cornell’s autograph and they let me go.”
“That’s the testament to the power of the Seattle music scene, ladies and gentlemen. Slap on backstage passes and go from there,” Stone pointed a finger at the camera. “Anyway, Baby. You're late for our survey segment. Did you hear that Dave Holland is not in the band anymore?”
She snorted.
“Uh…I did, actually. You told me like, five hours ago?”
“You’re supposed to be shocked, now," Stone rolled his eyes. "You’ll make me look bad.”
“Oh, fuck,” her eyes popped open as Josh disapprovingly shook his head with a grin. “Dammit, sorry. Okay, ask me again.”
“Oh, here you are, Baby!” Stone nonchalantly leaned on the wall next to them after professionally clearing his throat. “We were looking all over for you. The viewers want your commentary on some very important news in the music business. Did you know that Dave Holland isn’t in Priest anymore?”
Her jaw dropped.
“Is he not? You’re fucking with me, right? That’s mental,” Keeva clutched on her chest, acting out of breath while she turned to the camera. “See, ladies, when you’re friends with Stoney Gossard here, you learn something new every day. Sometimes even twice a day, clearly.”
“Okay, okay,” Stone reached out and cupped her mouth to silence her. “Let’s move on, we have more topics to tackle. Quick-fire questions. Let's hope you'll do better than the last girl - no offence to her, but we need content. Who do you like better, Glenn Tipton or K.K. Downing?”
“K.K. No question,” she quickly shot back.
“Any particular reason for your choice?”
“Just because it’s a cool fucking name,” she shrugged.
“What about Iron Maiden?” Stone questioned, an intrigued look on his face.
“Who doesn’t like Iron Maiden, come on.”
“Opinions on Steve Harris?” Stone raised his eyebrows and before he finished lifting his fingers in the air, she already spat her beer back into her cup.
“A double shredder?! Double shredder. Come on, now. That’s all you have to know,” she turned to the camera when she composed herself and opened her mouth wide with a shocked face. “How could I not like him? I’m only human.”
He wouldn't let it go after the show, either. The dedication was so excellent she couldn't help but play along.
“Hey, Chris, did you know that Dave Holland is not in the band anymore?” he appeared behind Keeva out of nowhere and nonchalantly threw his arms around her neck when she was talking to a well-baked Chris and Greg - the latter was sporting a new terrible haircut she gave him on a whim at 2 AM after an exhausting rehearsing session.
Funny how tiredness doubles as being drunk out of your mind.
“Huh? He’s not? Bullshit, that’s insane,” she exclaimed and bent her head back to look up at Stone with wide eyes. He grinned as they exchanged falsely subtle thumbs up and tugged on her hair before he rested his chin on the top of her head again. Josh shook with laughter, stabilizing his VCR with both hands.
The Peppers gig was about as different as it could be. Yes, Love Bone had a great show and the guys were fantastic - the new guitar player was really a wizard - but Keeva’s main object of attention disappeared somewhere as soon as they walked into the bar after the show, his pink scrunchie getting swallowed by the crowd before she managed to stop him.
They met the guys backstage and promised to take them to the best joint in town - of course, Stone and she chose the Off Ramp to spite them.
They loved it, though. Stone didn’t even have time to begin his scam routine - The Peppers clearly had a lot more dough than any of them, lavishly buying the group drink after drink.
“You just keep bringing me these tequila shots, one after another, and I don't have the heart to tell you that I fucking hate tequila,” Keeva sighed when John joined her at the table again, putting a tall shot glass in front of her with a ringing thud.
He was one annoying fruitfly - he always came back, no matter how crass and caustic her jokes at his expense were. A really cute fruitfly nonetheless.
“Why do you drink ‘em, then?” he chuckled, and weightlessly sat down opposite her, lighting a cigarette.
“Because I value people’s money, John, that’s why,” she leaned on the table, squinting. He just snorted and took a small pause before continuing.
“He’s kinda an asshole, that Stoney of yours, met him at the bar,” he said, taking a puff. “Probably doesn’t like that you’re sitting here.”
Keeva huffed and shook her head.
“Oh, he’s not - we’re just friends. Slash roommates,” she waved her hands around, hoping that the dim light would hide her glowing red blush.
John scowled.
“So he’s just fucking you? Shouldn’t be jealous, then,” he raised his eyebrows and leaned on the table, too. She choked on her saliva when she took a breath to answer.
“Excuse me?” she coughed out.
“You heard me,” he replied, shaking his bleached short hair out of his eyes. Keeva mirrored his smug expression.
“Aren’t you a little brash, mate?”
“Figured you’d like that if he’s the one fucking you,” John shrugged and leaned back in his chair. Keeva squinted at him, tipping her head to challenge him to elaborate.
“That Stones cover you did tonight? Two people who play like this must be fucking,” he shrugged again and took a drink. Keeva blinked a few times to digest his statement.
They routinely did a cover of Gimme Shelter - it was arranged with three guitars in mind and it just sounded really good with Andy’s wailing.
She was usually tasked with the main melody while Stone was doing his perfectly funky rhythmic part and Bruce was the psychedelic undertone at the bottom.
She didn’t know what it was, maybe the harsh lyrics, but the beating cadence of the guitar sounded like a heart to her. His heart. It made her move in ways that were maybe a bit too unchained for the kind of music they played. And Stone seemed to be pretty into it.
She couldn’t help but chuckle at John’s sincere stare.
“So, by your logic, if we’re together, why are you trying to get into my knickers?” she confidently asked, but John immediately raised his finger to stop her and wiggled in his chair again as if he couldn’t sit still.
“I said that you’re fucking, not that you’re together. Two people who play like this can’t be together, that would be unsustainable.”
A cold shiver ran down Keeva’s spine, but she tried to write it off as a consequence of having one too many shots.
The fucking tequila.
Why was this cocky asshole staring at her and why was he looking right inside her head?
Why was he right?
“Wise man. And using big words like ‘unsustainable’, too. You should be a therapist,” she mockingly nodded, giving him a sly smile. “How much per hour?”
“You couldn’t afford me,” John smirked and crossed his arms. Keeva scoffed at his arrogance. Somehow, it was endearing. Maybe even attractive. She couldn’t tell.
“Try me.”
He raised his eyebrows and smiled, darting between her and his lap. Her flushed cheeks puffed with a laugh as she shook her head.
“Oh, you’d have to be a much better therapist to get that,” she grinned and sipped a bit of the tequila to give herself more confidence. She catastrophically failed, though, letting out a childish cough as if she’d never taken a sip of alcohol before.
The Off Ramp spirits were really something else.
“Guess so,” John said with an amused pout that morphed into a wide smile when she giggled at his expression. As the alcohol clouded Keeva’s brain, music seemed to be getting louder and the lousy lights were glowing brighter.
And he seemed more and more beautiful.
Yes, he had all this contagious giddy energy around him and washboard abs were peeking out of his strategically unbuttoned red shirt with black suspenders on top, but it was his eyes - they didn’t match him. They weren’t keeping up with the youthful smugness. They were calm and wise. And sad. They reminded her of -
No.
“That girl beside the bar,” Keeva said and nodded her head in the direction of a redhead sitting on a barstool a few feet away from them. “She’s been eyeing you the whole night. She was next to me in the pit, pretty sure I heard her moan during one of your solos. Might be a better target for your unsolicited advice.”
John didn’t even bat an eye. His smirk just widened because he noticed the strain in her voice.
“I’m pretty content right where I am,” he mumbled, taking a big drag of his cigarette without leaving her eyes.
Keeva cleared her throat. John’s nose was pretty, too. Only strengthened her longing thoughts - even the most beautiful of faces couldn’t compare to him. On cue, her eyes searched around the room.
Please, don’t be there. Don’t make me do this. Let’s just go home.
And yet, Stone’s bright pink scrunchie peeked out behind the corner as if to spite her - she was subconsciously looking for him the whole night and at the one moment she prayed she wouldn’t find him, he appeared out of thin air.
He was laughing, scratching the back of his neck as a tall brunette whispered something in his ear and then leaned back against the wall, letting him cage her. Then, he reached out to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear and followed her through the crowd all the way to one of the hallways - the one that led to the back door.
They disappeared from her sight there.
Keeva’s eyes slowly moved back to John, who was still staring her down. She hid her sigh by downing the tequila in one harsh sip.
“So am I.”
John softly nodded as if he heard her train of thought. He’d noticed the smidge of insincerity in her voice. There was a flash of seriousness in his eyes before he completely changed his demeanour again, shifted in his seat and spread his legs.
“You’d feel even better if you were right here,” he tapped his knee with a smile.
Keeva wanted to laugh at his corny pornographic posture, but her body didn’t allow it. She just mindlessly leaned on the table and raised her eyebrows.
It’s just casual. It’s casual. He never promised me loyalty and I don’t owe him anything, either.
“I’ll be the judge of that.”
“Will you?” John said, his voice so silent only she could hear it.
She shrugged with a small smile, but before she could continue, Greg appeared out of nowhere and slammed his hand on the table. She jumped and so did John.
“Pooooooky! Your glass is empty, it’s time to drink up, babycakes!” Greg sing-songed and hugged her around the shoulders, waving a shot glass in the air while making airplane noises. When he noticed John’s red cheeks, he darted between the two of them and then sucked his teeth.
“Oh shit, I’m interrupting your little date, am I?” he muttered, scratching his head. Keeva bit her lips and nodded, pushing back a laugh. Greg groaned and slapped his forehead.
“Fuck, sorry. I’m a dumbass. Anyway,” he snapped back to her and started forcing the shot in her face. “Here comes the airplane! I promised Stoney I’ll make sure you drink it or he’ll beat me up.”
“Jesus, Greg, he’s just a sack of bones,” Keeva mumbled, trying to ignore the implication. She squeezed her eyes shut when he finally got her to part her lips and threw the shot back. She coughed a few times and then sneezed.
“Have you seen those knuckles? Bless ya,” he slurred and then handed the second shot he was holding to John.
“Here you go, buddy. Great show tonight. No airplane for you, sorry,” Greg said and patted John’s shoulder.
“Back at you, man,” he grinned and kicked the shot back, a bit shaken from Greg’s strong grip.
“Bring her back home in one piece and no funny business!” he said and wiggled his index finger at John, then gave Keeva a loud sloppy peck on the forehead and left as swiftly as he appeared.
Keeva stared at the table for a few moments before finally gathering enough courage to look at John. He was grinning, his cheeks flushed.
‘I promised Stoney I’ll make sure you drink it.’
Fucking bastard. Of course he was watching.
“Not easy being the greenie, innit?” she mumbled, expecting a laugh from him. But John’s cheeky smile fell.
“Yeah…”
He looked at the table and squirmed in his chair again, this time twisting into a hunch as he picked on his nails.
“How do you do it?” he asked after a few moments.
Suddenly, all the bravado was gone and in front of her sat a boy. A shy, tired boy asking for advice.
Oh, buddy, you’ve come to the wrong place.
“Dunno. Play along, throw it in their face…cry me to sleep,” she shrugged, nudging him with her foot under the table. He finally looked at her again, breaking into a soft smile.
Another long silence.
“Does he do it too?”
He didn’t need to drop names, his eyes spoke for him.
“Do what?” she asked just to prolong the opportunity to think her next moves through.
“Mock you.”
“More than anyone,” Keeva said with a sour chuckle. “The ‘Baby’ isn’t a flirty hot nickname, you know. It’s literal.”
John nodded and looked away again. He was shaking his leg, once again unable to sit still.
“And, uh…how do you deal with that?” he asked like an innocent kid. For a moment, Keeva thought that she saw him search for someone in the crowd, too.
She sighed.
“I sleep with him.”
“I figured,” he said with a chuckle and turned back to her. He waited for a few moments and then changed his posture again, melting into his chair.
“Does he make you feel good?” he silently questioned. His cocky smirk completely erased any doubt that was all over his face just a minute ago. Keeva’s cheeks went beet red, but she managed to keep her composure.
“What, you think you could do better?” she shot back and grinned too, but she was fighting the urge to just tell him off again.
Highly doubt that.
John didn’t budge, he just crossed his legs and lit another cigarette.
“I can try,” he shrugged after taking a drag. Keeva opened her mouth and closed it again, chuckling.
“You’re very persuasive, I’ll give you that.”
“Tell you what,” he exhaled the smoke and scratched his chin. “I’ll go talk to the ginger at the bar so you can decide in peace.”
She snorted, secretly delighted that he was offering her a way out, regardless of his intentions.
“So I’m your little rebound?” she squinted at him and folded her arms. He just shrugged with a sly grin.
“You’re a little hypocrite, Baby, that’s what you are.”
She sat back as John continued.
“Bet your friend is somewhere around. Tell him that tonight he will either fuck you or fuck off and leave the fucking to me. Then we can try the rebound thing.”
“I’m pretty sure he left a long time ago,” Keeva scoffed, darting her head towards the exit.
John got up and walked around the table to her seat. He offered her a cig from his box, lighting it up when she picked one.
“Let’s test it.”
He bent to her level and leaned in, brushing off a few curls stuck in her eyelashes. Before she could understand his movement - or blink for that matter, he suddenly pressed his lips against hers in a short but warm kiss, holding her head in his palms.
Keeva was flabbergasted.
She’d forgotten what a kiss felt like - not that she ever properly knew. But it was heavenly. As soon as John’s lips touched her, though, she immediately shut her eyes so she could imagine it being someone else. And she truly hated herself for that.
Little hypocrite. Sounds about right.
After a brief moment of lingering, he pulled away, a cocky grin plastered all over his face.
“You look cute like this,” he chirped and then set off to the bar, leaving her to sit there in utter silence.
Keeva's cheeks were burning red and her eyes were hazy. She felt lightheaded. A few of her curls stuck out at the places he held her and her dark red lipstick was slightly smudged. She scoffed as she watched him leave.
“Good girl, learning fast,” Stone’s voice appeared right next to her head, making her jump. He swiftly grabbed the cigarette from her and took a drag, puffing the smoke right into her face from the inches of distance between them. Then he gave her a sarcastic smile and walked around the table to sit opposite of her, right where John sat just a few minutes ago.
She shivered.
He mocks you and bats his eyelashes once and you’re already ruined? Pathetic.
“You were watching me, sleazebag?” she squinted at him. She was everything but mad at him, no matter how hard she tried. It was like a dream come true - he always came back to her. Her dignity was smashed into tiny shards, but she didn’t care.
“It was a historical event, wasn’t it? Never thought the day would come, the second kiss of your life!” he took another drag and shrugged, keeping the insincere smile. That did spark something akin to anger in her.
“No thanks to you,” she snapped back. She would be regretful of that low blow if Stone didn’t have a stain from a lipstick that wasn’t hers on his neck. The twitch of his eye implied some sort of impact, but his smile grew even wider.
“Exactly, that’s the best thing about it.”
Motherfucker.
Oh, he knew how to fight back. He knew exactly where to stab to be sure he didn’t miss.
“So did you just want to congratulate me and be on your way?” Keeva put on a sweet tone, pointing at the door. “Please, thank you. Bye?”
“No, actually, that’s just the debris,” he shook his head and carelessly crossed his legs. “I came to deliver a message.”
“Oh, you’re quitting the business to be a postman now? Good for you, Stoney. Love a man in a uniform,” she said, thoroughly satisfied when her bitchy attitude provoked an eye roll from Stone. “Who for?”
He stared her down and rudely put the cigarette out against the table.
“That juicy little boy that just planted one on you.”
She let out a loud cackle.
“Okay, a message for the little boy from the big boy table? I’m invested.”
“Whatever he’s doing, I don’t give a shit,” Stone said after a long pause, breathing out the cigarette smoke through his nose. “But if he harms a single hair on your head, I’ll take those stupid suspenders of his, shove ‘em up his nostril and pull them out of his ass. M’kay?”
Is he jealous?
Bullshit. No way.
“Kinda sounds like you do give a shit,” she squinted. “Why don’t you tell him yourself?”
“It will have more impact from you, I think,” he shrugged.
“He had a message, too, just thought I’d spare you,” Keeva sat back and reached up to wipe her smudged lipstick. “Apparently? Tonight either you can fuck me or he’ll do it for you.”
“What a poet,” Stone sharply scoffed. “Like I said, let him do his thing, but if he doesn’t -”
Okay. That’s it. Leave, now.
“Yea, thanks. Get it,” she shook her head and gave him a hostile stare, hoping that he’d leave as fast as possible so she could shed the tear she’d been holding since they’d arrived at this cursed place. “So I’m your delivery boy now?”
When he didn’t budge or look away, she chose to continue and twist the dagger.
“And what do I get in return from you, hm? A kiss on the cheek?”
Oh. Oh no.
A nauseating burn settled in Keeva’s throat as more blood rushed into her face, heating up thanks to his questioning stare. It was like the crass comment lingered in the air like a thick storm cloud, the thunder echoing over and over again through the four walls that surrounded them.
A kiss on the cheek, that’s what we’d agreed on.
How do I take this back? Fuck, please let me take it back.
Stone didn’t say anything, he just shifted in his seat so subtly she almost didn’t notice. Her face was slowly dropping the sardonic smirk and he just watched it happen, observing her like a strange phenomenon.
Jesus Christ, just say something, you idiot. Anything. Or he will.
“You know what, scratch that. We’re leaving,” he said, his tone nearly unphased. Keeva couldn’t back out, now.
“Is your ego so hurt by a little boy that you have to leave?”
“Yeah, positively devastated,” he scoffed and got up. “We were supposed to be at Devon’s birthday party like two hours ago. Regan sprinted four blocks to come and get us ‘cause they were worried. He’s waiting outside, so pack your shit up pronto. Or don’t, I don’t really care, but Devon does.”
Shit. I forgot.
“How long do we have to be there?” Keeva whined like a petty child, eager to forget about this whole scene.
She wanted to fall on her knees and kiss his high-tops for ignoring her comment, that was the worst thing about it.
“Dunno, long enough to find you a different little boy who’ll hurt my ego, now that I’ve robbed you of this one.”
Stone’s seemingly jealous tone was long gone. His classic cold diction suited him better, even if that fact was disappointing.
She turned to the bar - John wasn’t there anymore and neither was the ginger.
“You really don’t wanna be the one to do the fucking tonight, do you?” Keeva chuckled and turned her back to him to take her jacket off the back of the chair - that was her excuse to hide the stray tear that finally escaped her eye.
“Honestly, I’ve lost my appetite.”
“And once again, two of Seattle’s greatest minds think alike,” she said with a sour chuckle, quickly wiping the drop on her cheek before walking around him without another look at his face. “Hope you’re ready for an ass-beating in Scrabble tonight, big boy.”

Yes, I've watched this full miniseries 37 times.
Script below the break
Hello and welcome back to The Rewatch Rewind! My name is Jane, and this is the podcast where I count down my top 40 most frequently rewatched movies in a 20-year period. Today I will be talking about number two on my list: BBC and A&E’s 1995 mini-series Pride and Prejudice, directed by Simon Langton, written by Andrew Davies, based on the novel by Jane Austen, and starring Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth.
Mr. and Mrs. Bennet (Benjamin Whitrow and Alison Steadman) have five daughters: beautiful and kind Jane (Susannah Harker), witty and strong-willed Elizabeth (Jennifer Ehle), homely and puritanical Mary (Lucy Briers), well-meaning but naïve Kitty (Polly Maberly), and frivolous and spoiled Lydia (Julia Sawalha). Because there are no Bennet sons, Mr. Bennet’s estate is entailed upon his cousin Mr. Collins (David Bamber), and the daughters are aware that at least one of them must marry well to provide for the rest of the family after their father’s death. When wealthy and friendly Mr. Bingley (Crispin Bonham-Carter) moves into the neighborhood, he and Jane quickly hit it off, and the Bennets’ problems seem to be over. However, Mr. Bingley’s sisters, Caroline (Anna Chancellor) and Louisa (Lucy Robinson), along with his unpleasant, proud friend Mr. Darcy (Colin Firth) have strong objections to the Bennet family, who strike them as undignified gold-diggers, even though Mr. Darcy unwillingly finds himself strangely drawn to Elizabeth.
Okay so yes, this is technically a TV show rather than a movie, but even though it’s over five hours long, I still tend to watch it as a movie, and it felt right to count it as such, although when I first wrote it down in my movie notebook, I never anticipated that it would become my second most-frequently-rewatched. I remember that my parents were really into it, and at some point when it was on TV after we finally got a VCR, they had taped it. I tried to watch it with them a few times when I was younger, but I found the flowery language difficult to understand, and I typically fell asleep in the middle without knowing what was going on. The first time I watched it and actually paid attention was in 2005, and the main thing I remember was that my dad assumed I knew the story by then and kept making spoilery comments. I don’t think I fully appreciated it at that point, but I definitely enjoyed it more than I thought I was going to. I ended up watching it twice in that year and then five times in 2006, which is when it became one of my favorite stories. I read the book and watched a few other adaptations that year. In 2007 I only watched this series once, but that was also the year that my family ended up getting two male puppies, and after much deliberation about what to name them, we determined that Bingley and Darcy were the best names that went together and represented something we all enjoyed. After that, I watched it three times in 2008, once in 2009, twice in 2010, four times in 2011, twice in 2012, twice in 2013, four times in 2014, once in 2015, once in 2016, twice in 2017, once in 2018, three times in 2020, once in 2021, and twice in 2022. I don’t remember exactly when, but somehow between my siblings, my parents, and I, we ended up with three copies of this on DVD in addition to the taped one. I should also mention that I only counted it when I watched the whole thing from start to finish within a few days, so I’ve watched it like that 37 times, but I’ve definitely seen pieces of it way more than that. I keep waiting to get tired of watching it, but every time I put it on, it remains delightfully enjoyable.
I know that Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen is one of the most beloved stories in the English-speaking world, and probably beyond – although the number of people confused by my dogs’ names taught me that not everyone is particularly familiar with it – and that it has been adapted and retold dozens of times, and that fans of the story have very strong opinions about which is the “best” adaptation. The loudest debate is between this version and the 2005 film directed by Joe Wright and starring Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen. The first time I watched that version was in 2006, in the midst of my mania for the 1995 version, and I thought it was terrible. I knew it had to be shorter for the feature film format, but they cut out so many of my favorite parts! It wasn’t until I rewatched the 2005 version in 2016 that I understood that the people who prefer that version love this story for very different reasons from me. If you’re mostly invested in the Elizabeth/Darcy romance, that’s the version for you. It’s all about the tension and chemistry between those two characters, and everyone else is kind of stuck in as an afterthought. But even though the Bennet daughters’ need to get married is central to the plot, I had never considered the main appeal of this story to be its romance. To 2023 me and you the listener, who know that I’m aromantic, that isn’t very surprising, but at the time it kind of blew my mind to learn that so many fans of the story are there for that slow burn. Even in 2012 to 2013, when The Lizzie Bennet Diaries was coming out, I figured the reason people were so obsessed with Darcy was because not seeing him until episode 60 added to his mystique. At the end of that show, I was way more concerned about Lydia’s story than Lizzie’s, and while I enjoyed seeing Lizzie and Darcy finally get together, it was more of a “yay, things are happy now” relief than squeeing over the adorable romance. Anyway, while I used to be one of those obnoxiously pretentious fans who maintained that the 1995 adaptation was way better than the 2005 one, now I’m more of the opinion that they’re both good, just different, and just because I prefer one over the other doesn’t actually make it better. So if you’re listening to this and are a huge fan of the 2005 version, or any other adaptation, know that I’m not trying to tell you you’re wrong. Ultimately, Pride and Prejudice is a great story with many layers, and I think it’s awesome that there have been so many different versions that emphasize different aspects.
Despite the fact that this version is quite long (although not nearly as long as the Lizzie Bennet Diaries), I personally love the pacing. The events of the story take place over about a year, and these six 55-minute episodes take their time bringing us through that year with the characters. Watching it now, I don’t understand how I ever fell asleep with it on as a child, because I am thoroughly engaged the whole way through. Sometimes I intend to only watch an episode or two at a time, but I end up sitting through the whole thing because I cannot tear myself away. These characters are just so fascinating, and the cast brings them to life so convincingly. In general, I try to separate actors from characters, but I will always associate this cast with this show. Part of that is because of how many times I’ve watched this, and another part is because most of these actors haven’t been in very many American films – with the major exception, of course, of Colin Firth, whose Hollywood career skyrocketed after the success of this series – so I haven’t seen them in many other things. But the main reason is because they all embody their characters so perfectly in this series that it’s hard to see them as actors. Every cast member fully committed to their character in a way that somehow makes them feel simultaneously larger than life and grounded in reality. Alison Steadman’s Mrs. Bennet in particular is over the top and ridiculous but manages to just barely remain believable. While the five Bennet sisters on the surface can be summarized by archetypes, they’re much deeper than they first appear, and I love the ways that both the writing and the performances gradually bring that out. Crispin Bonham-Carter perfectly embodies the puppy-dog friendliness and gullibility of Bingley, and Colin Firth nails Darcy’s transformation after Elizabeth calls him out. Benjamin Whitrow makes Mr. Bennet so likable that it took me a while to understand that part of the family’s plight is his fault. That kind of complexity is one of the major things that makes this movie so rewatchable. There are so many layers to every storyline and every character that you can’t possibly uncover them all in just a few views. There’s also a lot going on in the background – like, Mary doesn’t get very many lines, but I love watching her light up whenever Mr. Collins is around. The show is edited in such a way that the audience can see what every relevant character is thinking at all times, so that even when it’s difficult to understand the fancy dialogue, we still get what’s happening based on the characters’ reactions.
This adaptation receives a lot of praise for its faithfulness to the novel, but while it does follow the book quite closely, I don’t think it gets enough credit for the changes and additions it made that were still in the spirit of the original story. There is some dialogue that was taken word for word from the book, but Jane Austen tended to summarize conversations rather than transcribing them, so quite a bit of new dialogue needed to be added, and I personally find it difficult to tell where Jane Austen ends and Andrew Davies takes over. Austen didn’t write scenes that only featured male characters, claiming that she had no way of knowing how men spoke or behaved when there were no women present, but this show opens with a scene between Bingley and Darcy and focuses a bit more on their friendship than the book does. The change in this version that gets the most attention is when Darcy unexpectedly happens upon Elizabeth after having taken a swim in a lake on his property at Pemberley. I always just saw this as a silly way to add to the awkwardness of the situation, with Darcy trying to remain dignified in soaking, casual clothes, and it surprised me to learn that a lot of people love that scene because Colin Firth apparently looks very sexy in his wet shirt. The change that I personally find most interesting is in the letter that Darcy writes explaining himself to Elizabeth after she turns down his first proposal. In the book, he starts with the allegations about breaking up Jane and Bingley and then moves on to the more serious stuff about how Wickham (played by Adrian Lukis, who told Elizabeth that Darcy ruined his life) had tried to seduce Darcy’s younger sister. In this version, the letter starts with the Wickham stuff and ends with the Bingley stuff because we’re initially watching Darcy and flashbacks of his memories, and then halfway through revealing the letter to the audience, we see Darcy give it to Elizabeth, and then we see her reactions to reading his thoughts about her sister and the rest of her family, along with flashbacks of her memories. Darcy is rather arrogant when he talks about separating Bingley from Jane, so I feel like it makes a little more sense for him to start with that when he’s upset by Elizabeth’s rejection and then move on to the darker Wickham drama, but I really like the way this version shows their reactions to the part of the letter that’s most painful to each of them. And before he writes the letter, we see Darcy dwelling on Elizabeth’s words, and he reacts to what she said about Wickham by saying aloud to himself, “At least in that I may defend myself,” implying that the Wickham story is what prompted him to write the letter in the first place, explaining why he starts with that this time. So it’s true to the original without being constrained by the original, and I think that’s what makes it work so well as an adaptation.
As I said before, many people think of Pride and Prejudice as primarily a romantic story, and like, they’re not wrong, but there’s so much more to it than that. There’s a lot of focus on familial relationships, especially between the two eldest daughters, Jane and Elizabeth, which I’ve always appreciated for its similarities to my relationship with my sister. It’s also worth noting that in this society, women in the Bennets’ station could not get a job, so they basically had two options: marry well, or depend on a male relative. Marriage was essentially a business arrangement, not necessarily a romantic one. In the first episode, Jane and Elizabeth have a conversation about their situation in which Elizabeth says that because Jane is the prettiest and sweetest of the sisters, she will need to be the one to marry very well, and Jane responds with, “But Lizzy, I would wish… I should so much like… to marry for love.” And then she makes this amazing face like she can hardly believe how unreasonable she’s being. Elizabeth assures her, “And so you shall, I’m sure. Only take care you fall in love with a man of good fortune.” But when Jane asks Elizabeth how she feels about marriage, she asserts, “I am determined that nothing but the very deepest love will induce me into matrimony. So, I shall end an old maid and teach your ten children to embroider cushions and play their instruments very ill!” And they laugh. But Elizabeth is completely serious, at least about the first part, as she demonstrates when she turns down two very lucrative marriage proposals that most sensible women in her position would have eagerly accepted. Both men – Mr. Collins and Mr. Darcy – think they are doing her a great favor in offering their hand and are shocked by her refusal. Mr. Collins is a bit of a doofus, but he is also going to inherit her father’s house, and it would therefore be the honorable thing for him to marry one of the Bennet daughters so they could at least continue to live there after Mr. Bennet’s death. But Elizabeth knew he would make her miserable and was unwilling to put up with him merely for security. One could say she slapped amatonormativity in the face, and we love to see it. But interestingly, when Mr. Collins does get married, it’s to the very aro-coded Charlotte Lucas (played by Lucy Scott). Her good friend Elizabeth is utterly shocked that anyone, let alone someone she cares about, would agree to marry Mr. Collins. But Charlotte literally tells Lizzy, “I’m not romantic, you know. I never was.” Aromantic queen. And when Elizabeth vents to Jane about this, Jane has the great line, “You do not make allowances for differences of situation and temper.” Jane is the ally we all need. Later, when Elizabeth visits the Collinses, Charlotte makes it clear that she kind of just does her own thing and barely sees her husband, and Elizabeth feels bad for her friend, but honestly, Charlotte’s life doesn’t sound so bad to me. She has security, and her husband mostly leaves her alone. Things didn’t get much better for an introverted aroace woman in that society. Although part of me does still wish that Mary had ended up with Collins, since she also seems like an introvert on the aroace spectrum, but she actually likes him.
Elizabeth is the opposite of aroace, but the way she refuses to listen when society tells her she’s supposed to marry for money feels kind of similar to modern aroace people refusing to listen when society tells us we’re supposed to fall in romantic, sexual love. One of the things I appreciate most about this story is how it demonstrates that everyone and every relationship is different. Jane and Bingley immediately fall for each other and are perfectly compatible, but because they place so much trust in the people around them, it takes a while for them to officially get together. And I don’t just mean the way Bingley’s sisters and Darcy pulled him away – Elizabeth kept reassuring Jane that it was obvious how she felt about Bingley because it was obvious to her, and neither of them realized that a stranger would just see Jane’s kindness to Bingley as treating him like she treats everyone else. Elizabeth and Darcy are just as well suited for each other as Jane and Bingley are, but they both have some major growing to do – they need to overcome their pride and prejudice, if you will – before they can be together. And then there’s Lydia and Wickham, whose relationship is based mainly on lust. Neither of them seems to have learned anything between the beginning and end of their story, and it’s hard to imagine them being happy together. I used to think of Lydia as a spoiled brat who got what she deserved, but now I feel really bad for her. She was a 15-year-old child who was preyed upon by a grown man, and the best-case scenario was for her to marry him. Her plight demonstrates just how awful the societal rules regarding sex were for women, although the story barely seems aware of it. Her elopement is used as a plot device for Darcy to redeem himself, and the focus is all on how her sisters’ chances of good marriages have been damaged. It’s kind of odd that so many social norms are condemned in this story, and yet Lydia is portrayed as deserving of life-long punishment for daring to break one rule. Jane Austen was progressive, but not that progressive. So that’s the one part of this that bothers me. If you too want justice for Lydia, I highly recommend The Lizzie Bennet Diaries on YouTube, which does an excellent job of humanizing and redeeming her.
Anyway, back to this version, I love that it includes another couple that many adaptations leave out – Mr. and Mrs. Hurst. Mrs. Hurst is Mr. Bingley’s sister Louisa, who, along with their sister Caroline, loves to make fun of and criticize the Bennets. Caroline is partly motivated in her criticism by jealousy, since she has her eye on Darcy and can tell that he’s interested in Elizabeth. But Louisa seems to be motivated by pure snobbery. Which is kind of hilarious because her husband is basically a loser. He doesn’t seem to have an estate or anything, since they’re always staying with her brother, and all he does is drink, hunt, play cards, and sleep. It’s just like, girl, you have no room to criticize anyone’s situation or decisions when you’re stuck with that guy. This just further helps demonstrate that nobody fits society’s ideal, so maybe we should all just live and let live. The characters who remain proud and prejudiced at the end of the story are mostly bitter and unhappy, while those who have learned to look at things from other people’s perspectives are the happiest. And I really like that message.
And aside from the fascinating social commentary, this series is a delightfully fun watch, full of great moments that I will never tire of revisiting. I love, or at least am intrigued by, all the characters, from the leads to the most obscure side characters. She’s barely in it, but one of my favorites is Mrs. Bennet’s sister, Mrs. Phillips, played by Lynn Farleigh. Between her interactions with Mr. Collins, who accidentally insults her and then frustrates her as a whist partner, and the way she consoles Mrs. Bennet after Lydia runs off with Wickham, her lines are some of my favorites to quote. And of course, there’s Lady Catherine de Bourgh, Mr. Collins’s benefactor and Mr. Darcy’s aunt, played by Barbara Leigh-Hunt, who is so impressed with herself that she can’t tell that she’s almost as ridiculous as Mrs. Bennet. I love Sir William Lucas’s “Capital, capital!” and Maria Lucas’s commitment to making haste. Even the characters I don’t like as people are interesting to watch. Wickham is the worst, but I’m almost impressed by his gall. Like, the fact that he can face the Bennets after seducing Lydia as if he’s done nothing wrong is astounding. That man truly has no shame.
While I enjoy pretty much every moment of this series, I have to say that my favorite episode is the fifth one. It really doesn’t seem like it should be, since that’s when the whole Wickham/Lydia stuff is going on and everybody is super stressed, but it has so many of my favorite moments. Like when Elizabeth is playing the pianoforte at Pemberley and a random servant feels the need to stand right in front of her, bow to no one in particular, and then walk offscreen. I don’t know who that bowing servant is or why he does that but I love him. And then there’s the part when Elizabeth returns home with her aunt and uncle, and her cousins are so excited to see their parents again that one of them tries to do a cartwheel and ends up just falling over. And in another wonderful deviation from the novel, Mr. Collins decides to visit the Bennets, ostensibly to console them, but really to gloat that their problems aren’t his problems because he didn’t marry one of them. In the book, he does this by writing a letter, but it’s way funnier to have him visit them, and get to see Mary be impressed with him again. But the best part of that scene is that when Kitty sees his carriage coming, she declares, “I’m not going to sit with him for anyone!” and runs off to hide in the yard. Later, when he’s talking to the other sisters, we can see Kitty peering through the window to see if he’s still there, and it makes me laugh every time.
This show is so good that I would still love watching and quoting it anyway, but I do think my enjoyment has been at least somewhat enhanced by having dogs named after two of the characters. The names really suited them, too – dog Darcy was standoffish toward strangers, but with the people he liked he could be very cuddly, whereas Bingley would pretty much follow anyone around to see what they were up to. Bingley absolutely loved to play fetch, while Darcy would just stare at him like, “What is wrong with you?” in the perfect dog version of how their namesakes felt about dancing. Sadly, Darcy got cancer and died in 2020. Bingley is still hanging in there, although at 16 years old he’s definitely declining, and his fetching days are long behind him. There are a lot of differences between me and Jane Bennet, as she is clearly not aroace, but since we share the same first name and are both the eldest sibling, I’ve always felt a kinship to her, and it makes me happy that presumably we each got to watch our own Mr. Bingley grow old. I think after he inevitably passes, watching this series will probably feel bittersweet for a while, although I don’t think that will make me love it any less. I anticipate continuing to watch it at least once a year on the 26th of November, in honor of the Netherfield Ball, while fondly reminiscing about fetching with Bingley and snuggling with Darcy.
I could go on and on about this movie for hours, but ultimately, what it all boils down to is I love the 1995 Pride and Prejudice because it is an excellent story told extraordinarily well, about characters who are exactly as ridiculous and flawed as real people. So if you’ve thought about watching this version but have been turned off by the length, I highly recommend giving it a chance anyway. Yes it’s almost six hours long, but it’s a thoroughly enjoyable way to spend almost six hours. I was suffering from depression when I first got into this series, and it was one of the few things that made me feel good about life. And if I had not already been in love with this version, I probably wouldn’t have watched The Lizzie Bennet Diaries, and therefore might never have gotten into Shipwrecked Comedy, and that would be very sad. So I have a lot to thank this miniseries for.
Thank you for listening to me discuss another of my most frequently rewatched movies. It’s a little hard for even me to believe that I’ve rewatched Pride and Prejudice more than any other movie besides one in the last 20 years, but I think it really is my second favorite movie, so it’s fitting that it ended up here. Now I only have one movie left, and it’s number one by a lot, with 51 views compared to P&P’s 37. So stay tuned for what is clearly my favorite film. And now, for the last time, as always, I will leave you with a quote from that next movie: “My, she was yare.”

Bts hyyh merch guide (pt 1)
I'm going to make a merch guide to each of the eras to help people collect but I figured i'd start with hyyh since it was one of my favorites ₊✩‧₊˚౨ৎ˚₊✩‧₊
The obvious (albums):
There's a light blue and light pink for pt 1 and dark blue with dark pink for pt2 which im sure we all know by now but there was also a limited Taiwan edition!
As of right now these are kind of hard to find; but without pc only cost ~$30. Outside of the photocard/postcard the only real difference of these is the inclusion of the lyrics in chinese plus more cds. These were released only for pt 1 in both the white/pink versions!
The photocards are going to COST YOU though, with a general range of $150-200
There also was 2 Japan kayo nekka versions that had a inclusion of a dvd too. On the dvd was just the run mv plus a photo gallery. PLEASE do not buy the listings of people selling the cd alone with no photocard for around 100, if you look harder on ebay theres many for closer to 40 or 50!!
these photocard prices are even worse than the last, normally being 200 to 400 from what ive seen. at least youll have a easier time finding listings for these (┬┬﹏┬┬)
DVDS:
The first dvd for hyyh was in 2015 and was released on 160223, this one only covers the Seoul concerts (which were the first 3). The first 2 dvds show the last day of the in Seoul concert, and the last one has 5 performances in Japan, VCR making film, prologue, rehearsals, practice making films and concert making films. The 2nd dvd also includes a VCR interview and talk about hyyh. All in all this is 346 minutes long :) If your lucky you can get this for $100 no pc but I would count on it being 200-370. The pc normally is around 100 too 😭
2016 live on stage epilogue dvd - This included of course film of the concert but also the poster and bridge shoot, md shooting film, concert practice and concert making film. you can find links to watch it for free with english subs here!
This dvd will cost around 170-200 and most (thankfully) have pc included. The pc alone will probablyyyy cost you around 60 even though ive seen ones way lower (you have to just look hard).
Theres also a blue ray version for around 95-160 (originally sold for $53.78) This one I THINK has the same stuff on it but its only in 2 dvds. I really cant tell if the postcards were a pre order benefit or not plus if it came as a set or random. Theres barely any listings for these but they only go for like $30 each (its like a breath of fresh air typing a price that low)
2016 BTS LIVE Kayo Nenka on stage epilogue Japan Edition Deluxe Edition DVD - this was released on January 18, 2017 so you should notttt be spending anywhere near as much (id guess 60-90?) This comes with 2 discs, the limited edition has a 132 page photobook and has bluray plus dvd but the regular just has the bluray no photobook. There is also a regular version with just dvd. These ones are the regular:
The regular is really hard to find nowadays but I think the general price range is 50-80??
Concert merch:
This hoodie only came in one size, Im not too sure the price of the zip up but the normal hoodie for the epilogue was $30.42 so we can assume it was about the same. nowadays expect to pay 200-600 for it LMAO
The shirt came in medium and large, i cant find any pricing info or current listings for this but i would assume it would be in the hundreds. The problem is theres so many unofficial shirts with this pattern being sold so it drowns out all the official listings. you MIGHT have luck getting this on some old instagram or tumblr account though!
one size beanie- current cost is around $200 but older accounts on twitter or tumblr sell for $45. yall im gonna be honest I cant find the post for the 2015 tour merch for the LIFE of me so im not going to know any original prices
bandana 600x600- GOOD LUCK BUYING THIS THING only place i can find listings is carousell which were all really cheap (~$15) but then again they are old listings.
I cannot find these damn socks ANYYYYWHERE on the face of the internet. your guess is as good as mine chat
pickets- very few listings of these out here but they are only like $70! (crazy if you remember people sell love yourself ones for 50 and 60) BUT you can 100% find listings for way lower (around 20 or 30) they are just rare
program book- these are only 40-60
this is going to be more like $200 for a set of just one members, its way easier to find the 2016 ones
photo set- there was multiple sets of these (not sure how many IM SORRY) ; one goes for about 100
I reached the max for pictures on here so go to pt 2!! i hope this guide helps you guys ⸜(。˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝♡

For a film thing: Pride and Prejudice (2015) & Herbie the Love Bug 😊
Pride and Prejudice (2015) I didn't see it because I'm not the biggest fan of Kiera Knightly. I don't know what it is about her. I did love the 1995 BBC Miniseries though!
never seen | want to see | the worst | bad | whatever | not my thing | good | great | favorite | masterpiece
Herbie the Love Bug
What a unique choice! I'm curious why you picked it? I have seen the 1968 version as a kid. My grandma had it on VCR. Cute lil guy. I'm a sucker for sidekicks.

Quick question: what's your favorite BTS live performance ? ;)
question may be quick but I spend so long on writing this answer! 😂
My number one is Summer Sonic Festival 2015 - since the day I found it nothing managed to top it! The energy there is amazing and the fact that they performed Cypher3 with all of them?! I ascended 🤯 I’m obsessed with that live performance.
ALSO it has one of my fave biases looks ever!!!

Then I absolutely adore whole 5th Muster! I love all looks and performances and vcr and overall energy it gives 💜 ofc I’m obsessed with vocal line Ddaeng performance and their outfits during that part of concert.
BUT my fave part is absolutely Let Go performance in shimmery shirts 🤷♀️ this trio stole my heart then and there

And then we have MAMA 2019 where they performed their older songs during high of their popularity just because they wanted 👌 and it’s embarrassing to admit but I do have thing for them in that uniforms 🫣 Energy during that performance is through the roof and they look so good and they dance so powerfully - jihope part during wab pt2?! Iconic, always in the back of my head! Jimin took my attention the most during that one -singing AND dancing like rent is due 🥵
yeah, I’m sure I’m forgetting something but these are from the top of my head- don't know if that's what you wanted nonnie but i had fun answering that one so thank you anyway 💛
#ironically all 3 of these performances are absolutely ungiffable for me 😂#I tried few times but I simply cannot capture essence of what I love about them so I gave up#I’m especially sad I can’t gif that summer sonic yoonkook because they’re my weakness 🫂#the closest i got was namjoon from muster#god I miss their older songs and that kind of performances 🥲#I guess I’ll camp on YouTube this week#ask#anon
