i keep thinking about the trailer and something is bothering me just a little bit... the kiss...

why is it in the trailer????

i feel like that moment has been robbed of its impact to a degree by it being shown in the trailer - sure, fans who have been here for the long haul knew it was coming but those who only watch the show and don't watch the campaign haven't see what we have

idk maybe im stupid

but i feel like that should have been kept quiet until, you know, the episode came out??

i feel a bit less excited for them now - which is dumb i know, but i was really hoping for a surprise kiss moment if we were getting one at all???

i mean maybe because its not my otp??? i love them a lot but im more a vax'ilmore fanboy

idk man, it just feels kinda cheapened to me - if they had just teased the convo leading to the kiss instead I'd probably be more excited for them

again, I'm probably just being stupid and the actual show will make it more exciting, idk

okay BUT can we talk about how keyleth slipping and being caught by kash in the sunken tomb directly mirrors the first ever vaxleth moment from s1??? you when she trips and he catches her staff???? can we talk about this???? and how vax can only look on as the exact same thing that only earned him a "thanks, vax" gets keyleth flustered and blushing???? can we talk about that???? because it was nowhere near an okay thing to do to me

a conversation i wanted from last night's episodes, but alas *thanos voice* i'll do it myself

Vax stomps through the psychedelic landscape of the Feywild, trudging forward as fast as he can to put distance between himself and Syngorn. Fuck Garmelie. He could have guided them around the city, showed them a way to get to this damn bog without needed to employ their father's name. Now his sister's all tangled up in knots and he had to learn about Velora, whom gods only know if he'll ever get to see again. This fucking bow better be worth it.

He steps onto a patch of grass, except it's not a patch of grass, but some kind of gaping maw disguised as a patch of grass, and he sinks into it up to his ankle. "Shit!" he hisses as he stumbles forward.

"Whoa!" Hands catch him, and he looks up to see Keyleth right next to him, smiling kindly. She quickly jams her staff into the strange ground-mouth so it cannot close around his leg, giving him the time to snatch it back. "There you go!"

"Thanks, Keyleth." He winces internally at the gruffness in her voice, especially when he sees the frown on her face.

"Sure." He starts to continue his journey, and she says quietly, "I'm sorry your dad is such a jerk."

He comes to a stop with a sigh. "Yeah, me too."

She comes up behind him to rest a hand on his shoulder. "If it makes you feel better, you and Vex are pretty great, considering, y'know, that's what you come from."

Vax turns to her with a smile. Her face is folded in her usual uncertain hopefulness, and he suddenly regrets bringing her before his father, exposing her to his poison. "Anything good about us came from our mother. He was...there."

Her fingers tighten on his shoulder, and he resists the urge to bring his own hand up to rest atop hers. "Well, I'm glad for the good parts, then. And there are a lot of them. Good parts, I mean." Her eyes widen as her face turns red. "I mean, you know, good parts of your personality." And he knows that they're both instantly thinking of that little satyr menace's lewd sketches.

He laughs to break the tension. "Thanks, Kiki. I like your good parts, too."

She ducks her head, and he can't stop himself. He quickly presses a kiss to her cheek, and before she can look up at him in surprise, he's gone, following his sister and de Rolo toward their destination, this time with a bit more of a spring in his step.

Have to say wasn't too surprised about the Vaxleth stuff not being that prominent. I mean there's a lot going on in these three episodes, plus Keyleth just rejected Vax. My guess is that he's giving her space to not seem overly pushy as well as it just being kind of awkward. I mean Keyleth is already riddled with anxiety, I don't think talking with a guy whose love confession she turned down is currently in her comfort zone, especially if she does return the feelings but feels unable to admit it to herself.

Also you know the fact that four dragons have just destroyed their home, they've witnessed hundreds of people dying and are now taking on the herculean task of killing said dragons. Romance is probably at the bottom of their priorities, at least right now anyway.

I know some of my fellow vaxleth shippers are upset that there weren't any Vaxleth moments in the first three episodes but Fanology released a promo on twitter that gave us this little crumb.

~ IT'S SPRING ~ WRITING PROMPTS

Vax’ildan wasn't usually one for "smelling the roses," as the saying went. He never had time nor did he ever, truly, feel safe. He was always watching for danger, checking the shadows for hidden traps and unsavory encounters. And, honestly, he wasn’t interested in slowing down. Someone had to protect and watch over the people he cared about, and he was happy to be the one to do it. 

But then he met someone he had a very hard time saying no to. Someone who lived in the light, energized by cloudless days and fresh air. 

It was about a week after their defeat of the Briarwoods in Whitestone that Keyleth took Vax’s hand, pulled him away from the library he was helping rebuild, and tugged him towards the edge of town where the farmland resided. 

“Keyleth, what are you doing? I was in the middle of something.”

“Everyone’s taking a break for lunch; you can do the same.” 

He sighed dramatically, but didn’t try to slip from her grip when he very easily could have. It took a few minutes before they arrived at one of the first farms. There was a small patch of grass that was alive and plush, a neon sign in the midst of gray and dead fields around it. It looked like they had culled most of the damage, though, and had started to replant, regrow. Keyleth brought him to the fresh patch and there waiting were two sandwiches. Nothing special or fancy–just a couple of ham sandwiches with cheese wrapped in some paper.

“Cheers,” she said, handing him his and tilting hers toward him.

With a resigned smile, he tapped his against hers, unwrapped the paper, and took the first bite.

“Come sit with me.” Keyleth took a seat on the grass, and, unable to deny anything she asked of him, Vax followed suit. 

“You’re doing great work out here,” he said, licking some crumbs from the corner of his lip. “Whitestone will be back to its former glory before we know it.” 

“I hope so. They deserve it after everything they’ve been through.” 

“Yeah.” 

They ate in silence for a bit, and once Keyleth finished her sandwich she leaned back and laid down on the grass, her hands resting behind her head. “Hey, look.” She pointed up at the clouds. “That one kind of looks like Trinket.” 

Vax looked up, craning his neck to see the cloud, and he felt Keyleth tug on the back of his tunic. 

“It’s a better angle like this.” 

Again, never one to deny her, Vax let her pull him back until he was lying down next to her, his hands now tucked together on his stomach. "Oh, yeah. It does sort of look like Trinket." He squinted a bit. "If he had the head of a donkey."

Keyleth bursted out laughing, knocking her side into his, and he found that when she settled back he wished she had stayed pressed against him.

"Thank you for bringing me here," he said. "This is really nice."

"You're welcome." Keyleth looked over to him. "Are you gonna head back?"

"Not yet. I want to stay here a bit longer."

He let one of his hands move from his chest, casually letting it fall right next to hers. He looked over, she smiled, and he slipped his hand into hers, perfectly happy to not move from their little patch of paradise and watch clouds until the sun went down.

A creature of the night, Vax has worked hard to train himself to rise with the sun in his few months here in Zephrah. Keyleth is a natural morning person, which is equal parts endearing and irritating, so Vax makes the heroic sacrifice of waking up far earlier than he'd like to spend the mornings with her before she has to rush off to her myriad duties as Tempest.

This morning, she's running late, for which she places the blame entirely on Vax's shoulders, and okay, maybe he kept her up longer than she'd've liked, but as he fries up some eggs on the stove, he reminds her that she wasn't complaining at the time. She hops into her boots, a piece of buttered toast in her mouth, and grumbles about how mad her dad's going to be when she shows up late to their meeting with the Blades. Vax dumps some eggs onto a plate, slides them across the table toward her, and says, "You're literally the one in charge. You can be as late as you like."

The eggs are gone in three enormous bites. "It doesn't look good if I'm late." She disappears back into the bedroom and materializes a few moments later, her mantle haphazardly settled on her shoulders. "What are your plans for the day?" She struggles with the clasp.

Vax breathes out a laugh and walks over to her. He first thumbs away the crumbs at the corner of her mouth before nudging her fingers out of the way to fix her mantle. "I am planning on being the most dutiful stay-at-home boyfriend Zephrah has ever seen. I'm thinking...reorganizing the spice rack, going to the market to get what we need for dinner, ooh, an afternoon nap, and if things get really crazy, I might just clean the bathroom. Don't wanna overextend myself, though, so I'll play it by ear."

Keyleth opens her mouth to reply, but then the clock on the wall chimes the hour, and she says, "Shit, I gotta go!" She presses an off-center kiss to his mouth and darts for the door, snatching the Spire of Conflux from the umbrella stand right in the entrance. "Love you!" she calls over her shoulder.

"Love you!" he shouts at her retreating back just as the door closes. Laughing to himself, he returns to the table and his eggs, and he thinks maybe he's going to rearrange his schedule and take that afternoon nap as soon as he's done with breakfast.

When Season 2 of Vox Machina only gave us littles crumbs of Vaxleth, so your dream brain knew you need some Vaxleth, is like I got you got covered.

Nothing scandalous happened, but they were being cute together, as Vex for there and once she left, Vax was just grinning and started kissing her, causing Keyleth to giggle and then she kiss him back, and at some point Vax just decided bite her shoulder, and was very proud about leaving the mark he made.
