Industrial Chiller Hire: Solutions for Large-Scale Cooling Needs
Maintaining optimal temperatures is essential for industrial operations' efficiency, safety, and product quality. Industrial chiller hire is vital for businesses seeking reliable and flexible cooling systems. Adequate cooling is paramount whether managing a manufacturing facility, hosting a significant event, or running a data centre. This article delves into why hiring industrial chillers can be beneficial, the range of options available, and how Andrews Sykes stands out as a leader in the sector.
Understanding Industrial Chillers and Their Applications
Industrial chillers are sophisticated cooling systems designed to regulate temperature in large-scale settings. They are crucial in various sectors, including manufacturing, construction, healthcare, and hospitality. These machines remove heat from a liquid via a vapour-compression or absorption refrigeration cycle. The chilled liquid can then be circulated through equipment or processes that require cooling.
For instance, in manufacturing plants, chillers are excellent machinery and maintain the integrity of products during production. In the hospitality industry, they provide comfort cooling for large venues, ensuring guests enjoy a pleasant atmosphere. Similarly, data centres rely on chillers to maintain optimal operating temperatures for servers, preventing overheating and potential data loss. The versatility of industrial chillers makes them indispensable across multiple industries.
Why Choose Industrial Chiller Hire?
Opting for industrial chiller hire instead of purchasing equipment can offer significant advantages. First and foremost, hiring allows businesses to access the latest technology without the substantial upfront capital investment associated with buying chillers outright. With rapid advancements in cooling technology, hiring provides flexibility to upgrade to newer, more efficient models as needed.
Furthermore, hiring chillers can be a more strategic choice for short-term projects or seasonal demands. For example, a construction site may require additional cooling solutions during peak summer months. Companies can scale their cooling capacity efficiently by utilising industrial chiller hire, ensuring they only pay for what they need when needed.
Another vital aspect is maintenance and support. Businesses gain access to the equipment and professional support when hiring from a reputable provider like Andrews Sykes. This includes installation, maintenance, and 24/7 emergency service, ensuring that potential issues are swiftly resolved to minimise downtime.
The Andrews Sykes Advantage
Andrews Sykes has established itself as a leader in the industrial chiller hire market, boasting a comprehensive fleet that caters to a wide range of cooling requirements. With over six decades of experience, the company has honed its expertise in providing bespoke HVAC solutions tailored to each client's unique needs.
One of Andrews Sykes's standout features is its extensive range of chillers available for short-term and long-term hire. Clients can choose from compact units for smaller applications to high-capacity chillers for large-scale operations. This versatility ensures that businesses can find the perfect solution to meet their specific cooling demands.
Moreover, Andrews Sykes prides itself on its nationwide coverage and rapid response capabilities. With a network of depots strategically located across the UK, the company guarantees prompt delivery and installation of chillers, often on the same or the next day. This level of service is particularly crucial for industries where cooling needs can arise unexpectedly, such as during equipment failures or unplanned maintenance.
Case Studies: Real-World Applications
To illustrate the effectiveness of industrial chiller hire, consider the case of a significant film and television production. Andrews Sykes provided a tailored solution when a large-scale production required temporary cooling for set equipment during filming. By deploying high-capacity chillers, the production maintained optimal temperatures, ensuring the comfort of the cast and crew while protecting expensive equipment from overheating.
In another instance, a healthcare facility faced a sudden demand for additional cooling due to a surge in patient admissions during a heatwave. Andrews Sykes delivered and installed chillers promptly, allowing the hospital to maintain a comfortable environment for staff and patients. These examples highlight the importance of having a reliable partner for industrial chiller hire, capable of responding swiftly to the dynamic needs of various sectors.
Conclusion: The Future of Cooling Solutions
As industries evolve, the demand for efficient cooling solutions will only grow. Industrial chiller hire presents a flexible, cost-effective alternative to traditional cooling methods, allowing businesses to adapt to changing conditions seamlessly. With Andrews Sykes at the helm, clients can expect unparalleled expertise, a diverse range of equipment, and exceptional service.
In a world where temperature control can significantly impact productivity and safety, choosing the right partner for industrial chiller hire is crucial. With a commitment to quality and customer satisfaction, Andrews Sykes stands out as the top choice for businesses seeking reliable, effective cooling solutions. Whether you need a temporary setup for a construction project or a long-term solution for a manufacturing plant, Andrews Sykes is prepared to deliver the cooling support you need to keep your operations running smoothly.

While performing on April 29th, George Clanton jumped off of stage in Denver CO, had a bad landing, and broke his tibia and fibula. He then performed the rest of the final song in excruciating pain with the help of a security guard holding him off of the ground. George was rushed to the ER and spent the rest of the night and the next morning getting his ankle set multiple times. The next night (and for the rest of the tour) he performed in Salt Lake City in a wheel chair. This is a picture from the stage elevator immediately following that gig.

"I wish you would write a —" continuation or AU of that scene from away the vapour flew (because I've seen you mention that even your AU's have AU's lol and I'm selfishly hoping you'd consider revisiting that fic and coz I can't let this opportunity pass when this fic literally lives in my mind rent free lol)
Alright! At long last I have figured out what happens next. This is for you, dear thing ❤️❤️❤️ ( @lightasthesun on - or very near thereabouts - your birthday)
LED BY THE WANDERING LIGHT
It starts with a very little thing: a seed.
It is slipped from the glove of a Republic aid trooper who smiles as he passes it over.
“From the General of the 212th,” he says. “Don’t know what it is, but I damn near lost the thing on the way over.”
“For me?” he asks, and the man nods, his grin growing wider.
Then he leans in as though commiserating with a friend. “Jetiise sha’bise, lek?”
“Elek,” agrees Korkie, dubiously, turning the little living pebble between his fingers.
The trooper grins, and gives him a friendly shove before trotting off back to his ship. Korkie has come down on his aunt’s behalf to oversee the relief efforts, but he is distracted by the seed in his hand. It is flat, and furry, and pleasingly plump. If he squeezes it, he can feel the skin relent and rebound, and if he digs in his nail ever so gently, he can feel the taste of water upon his thumb, and see the pale blush of springtime in the depths of the cut. It is a seed of something, he knows, but of what?
He places it in the breast pocket of his Academy jacket, and turns his attention back to the work. It is an impressive, and important sight, but his thoughts linger on the seed, and he feels it sit bright and eager against his heart.
Later, when the supplies have been unloaded, and the aid troopers seen off, when the ceremony of thanks and assurances of neutrality have all been displayed, when he is back in his room at Sundari only hours away from the magtrain ride back to school, he plants the seed in a little pot of black earth, and dampens the soil. It will not grow tonight, but he cannot help but stare at it anyway, waiting in the dark, beneath the stars, so patient.
A week passes, and he is back at the Academy when the mail officer - an upperclassman he’s never met - stops at his place during first meal.
“Su-su, Kryze!” he calls. “A package for you from the Core.”
A small bundle wrapped in layer upon layer of bonding tape, and stamped with the ink of a hundred spaceports too numerous and cramped to decipher lands upon his lap. He uses the thin knife from his plate to slice through the plastifibe envelope.
When his fingers graze the object within he gasps, and pulls back the wrap to reveal a real, proper book. It’s not even printed on flimsi, he notes, cracking the aged spine and letting the pages fall open, but on actual paper. They don’t make these in the Core, and hardly ever in the Mid Rim, it’s just not economical, and most planets don’t have the resources to spare. But this one is old, it’s pages creased, and worn smooth at the corners with the turning of many fingers. It is about horticulture, though the illustrations of green and growing things have faded to browns and burnished golds. It is beautiful.
A piece of dried grass has been tucked between two pages, and when Korkie folds them back to look he sees an image of the seed he’d sown in the pot by his bed. Beside it, a riotous bouquet of blossoms burst in an array of different colours. It is a daesyn flower.
He tucks the book in his kebisebag, and carries it around for the rest of the day. At nightfall, he takes it out with careful reverence, turning the pages back to the daesyn slowly lest they tear or turn to dust. Then, by the light of a little glowrod, he props the book against his window and reads along as he tends to the small green sprout only just peeking through the soil.
He buys a sun lamp, and a watermeter, and adjusts the temperature of his quarters much to Amis’ chagrin, determined to provide the most optimal growing conditions he can for the little plant.
After a month, the seedling has become a sturdy sprout, with prickly leaves of a green so deep it might be blue. He is attempting to commit those variegated lines to flimsi when Amis returns to their quarters, a small pouch swinging from his hand.
“I’m supposed to give this to you,” he says, tossing the pouch. Korkie reacts without thinking, snatching the bag out of the air before it can hit the ground.
“Who’s it from?”
“Front desk. Said some high up Republic alor sent it.”
“Which one?”
“Don’t know. Didn’t ask, did I? Too busy polishing the silver.”
Korkie grimaces in sympathy, having spent many an afternoon of his first year cleaning the trophy case in the main hall. He thinks that Amis’ plight could be easily avoided if only he behaved himself, but refrains from saying so to his friend.
Instead, he pulls the drawstring at the top of the purse, and turns it over his hand. A dozen discs of coloured glass tumble into his palm. They are thick, and smooth, though not polished by anything but time. Each is a different colour, though some are struck through with shimmers of gold and silver.
“What’s that?” asks Amis over his shoulder.
“Don’t know,” he echoes. The glass feels comfortable in his grip. Made to be held, and carried, and passed from hand to hand.
“Should ask Lagos,” says Amis. “That seems like her kind of thing.”
He makes no reply to Amis, but of course, he does as he suggests. Lagos is, after all, a walking encyclopaedia, and of all their friends the most likely to at least have an idea of where to start looking.
The excitement on her face when Korkie shows her his hoard tells him she has more than an idea - she knows.
“Oh, oh, oh!” she gasps. “Where’d you find Abafar trading beads?”
“They were a gift,” he replies. “What are they for?”
She picks them up one at a time and holds them to the light. By some trick of their design, they cast no shadow, but seem to capture the rays inside like banked embers, or twisting prisms. The ones marked with ribbons of ore grow warm in her hand, and she presses them to his cheek so he can feel their heat.
“They’re the traditional currency of Abafar,” she explains. “It’s a desert planet in the Outer Rim, and craftsmen in the Void used to make these beads as a means of facilitating trade over great distances. Metal was scarce, and the beads could also be used to retain heat for longer - that one in your hand could keep the warmth of the sun all night, if you wanted it to.”
He considers the disc of deep indigo, and holds it up to the sun until it turns red. The glass seems to have become molten, but its warmth is not painful in the hand. He leaves the bead out for the rest of the afternoon to test Lagos’ theory, and brings it into bed with him at night. Tucked beneath his pillow, it radiates a soothing heat, and he feels his muscles relax and his worries melt as he drifts away into an easy slumber.
The next gift he receives is shattered into bits.
“Sorry, kid,” says the attendant at the delivery depot when he arrives to claim his parcel. “Happens sometimes with these packages from the front. The war is not a safe place for fragile things. Bic cuyir meg bic cuyir.”
He takes the present anyway, carrying it delicately back to the Academy, fearful of breaking it further. When he finally tears through the tape and plastifibe, clay and ceramplast pieces give up any pretense at form and clatter over the surface of his desk.
It was beautiful once, he can tell. Perhaps a bowl or a cup turned by hand - he can see the telltale print of a foreign finger pressed into a section of naked clay - but now it is only fragments and dust.
Still, he hovers over the pile, turning the pieces this way and that, trying to see how they fit together. He doesn’t notice when sixth bell rings, or when Soniee pings his comm, or when Amis sneaks in past curfew and turns out his light. He stays up late into the night, until the form takes shape, and through the cracks and crevasses of painted clay dawn creeps in.
It is an amphoriskos. A small vessel for storing precious oils, like the kind used in the rituals of so many traditional peoples. There is none in it now, and Korkie retrieves the sachet to see if perhaps it was spilled into the weave of the plastifibe wrap. But it is dry. And the clay, when he looks at it more closely, is dry and unstained by use. The gift was always empty.
The shards sit upon his desk in their loose arrangement until, one afternoon, Amis moves to sweep them off into the dustbin.
“No, no!” protests Korkie, before Amis can complete the task. “I want to keep it.”
“What for?” his friend asks. “It’s broken.”
“I don’t know yet.”
He collects the bits of amphoriskos into his hands, and arranges them about the base of his daesyn pot. The paint glints in the light, and so too do the Abafar beads nestled amidst the debris. The plant grows green and bushy, its leaves reaching out to skim the rim of its bed as though a swimmer poised on the edge of emersion.
He receives Theelin singing strings wound tight around a holodrive meant for the Duchess, paired basalt spindles from Hapes, seashells from the deep oceans of Mon Cala, and a set of Lateron hoops carried on the wrist of the visiting senator from Naboo.
“From Master Kenobi,” she says, and she smiles at him with a warmth that feels like family. He wonders if they’ve met before, if he should know her, but she moves along with the entourage of press and government officials before he can ask.
He is home for Holyrod month, and has brought his prizes with him carried along specially in his kebisebag, his daesyn in his hands. He sets them out along the windowsill in his rooms at Sundari. The watchet blues and greens of crystalline filtered light play over his collection, illuminating one after the other in joyous turn. He does not know what they mean, or why his father has sent these particular things to him, but they are all precious, and he longs for a way to display his gratitude for the thought he has been spared.
The daesyn itself revels in its new surroundings, and leans close to the glass to get as close a view of the sun as it can, budding with imminent delight.
The Senator from Naboo is called Padme, he discovers when he is introduced to her again at mealtime. And she has not come alone. She is part of a delegation of foreign ambassadors, all from the Republic, but not all, Korkie suspects, as enthusiastic about the Chancellor as they had once been. There are murmurings and whispers amongst them, hurried out between thin lips and caught only in the corner of his eye, or the turn of his head, but whether satisfied or not, they are accompanied by the ceremonial force of the Senate, and the might of Palpatine himself - Two Jedi travel with them.
Anakin Skywalker, and Obi-Wan Kenobi.
He sees him through the crush of bodies, and later down the line at suppertime. In the midst of deep blues, and mauves, and furs, and silks, his earthen tunics stand out, but he is always distant, always just out of reach. All he needs is a moment, he thinks, to make sure he’s seen, so he can acknowledge his father - even in the polite, and suitably respectful language of perfect strangers if he must, but it never comes.
The plates are cleared, the halls are emptied, and Korkie finds himself bidding his aunt (she is always his aunt here) goodnight, and wandering back to his rooms alone.
It is dark when he arrives, though by the window the Abafar beads glow like the distant lights of the city. He slips off his stiff shoes, and his raiments of clan, but is interrupted by a knock at the door. He waits, uncertain, until the knock comes again.
Perhaps his mother come to assure herself of his health and presence, as she has done so often in the past, but he opens the door to find Obi-Wan Kenobi waiting, with his hand out. In the euphoric rush of astonishment, he hastens to place his own hand upon his father’s as is customary on Stewjon, though he holds fast in a manner peculiar between children and their parents.
“Master Kenobi,” he stammers. “I did not expect you. I thought you’d left. Forgive me.”
“There is nothing to forgive,” Obi-Wan replies. “I’d rather hoped to catch you alone, but I’m afraid our schedule was somewhat packed.”
“Of course.”
He is staring, he knows it, but he can’t seem to think of anything else to say, caught up in looking at his father and searching for all the commonalities between them. Does he tilt his head like that? Does he stroke his chin? Does he frown and smile by equal measure?
But the weight of his scrutiny is too much to bear, and Obi-Wan cracks.
“I thought to ask: did you get my gifts?”
“Yes,” says Korkie. “Thank you. They were very thoughtful.”
“Ah...And did you - did you like them?”
At this, Korkie cannot help but smile, and he shakes his father’s hand, tugging him forward with zeal.
“Yes, of course,” he says. “Would you like to see?”
If he is confused by his son’s desire to reintroduce him to items he has already laboured over and seen, then he does not show it. Nor does he resist when the hand in his pulls him further into the room, and doesn’t let go even as a curtain is flung open, and a light flicked on low.
He is pulled over to the broad casements and left to bask in starlight as Korkie steps aside to reveal a colorful mobile hanging from the frame of his window.
“The amphoriskos broke,” he explains, and sees a shadow flicker in his father's eyes. “No, no,” he insists. “It wasn’t your fault. It just happened. But I couldn’t bear to throw it away. It was so beautiful.”
He gestures at a silver thread from which hang a variety of irregularly shaped clay shards. The shiny amber and black paint catches the light thrown by the glowing Abafar beads strung further up, and on another and another thread. When he blows on them the threads hum, and sway together, the seashells and pottery and glass clattering together like wind chimes.
“The singing strings,” notes Obi-Wan, and Korkie grins.
“And the Lateron hoops,” he says, pointing to the frame from which the strings are suspended. “And the spindles, for balance. It’s meant to hang with my window open, like it is at school. And then, at night, when the dreamwinds come, the whole thing sings, and shines, and glows like the stars.”
“It’s beautiful,” says Obi-Wan with awe. He reaches out with one hesitant finger, the beads flickering beneath his touch, and the strings murmuring the low notes of an opening phrase.
“You gave it to me,” says Korkie with a shrug, and Obi-Wan turns his awe upon his boy.
“No,” he says. “I gave you fragments, but you have made them into art. You gave them meaning. You gave them a soul.”
Korkie shifts on his feet, fretting at the cuff of his sleeve, and diving in.
“Would it be okay, do you think -” he starts, then stops. Then he starts again. “Do you think it’d be alright if I wrote you? Every once in a while.”
“Wrote me?”
“Or com’d,” he says, quickly. “Only I know you’re busy, and I can’t expect to lay claim to any of your time, not really, but I -”
“Com me,” says Obi-Wan. “Write me. Send me anything you like, but only say you will and I will have all the time for you I can spare.”
“I promise that I only want a very little.”
“If it’s mine to give it’s yours to have, Kiorkicek,” his father swears. His grip upon his hand is firm, willing him to believe him, and Korkie nods his head because he does.
They stand there, hand in hand, reading themselves in each other, and learning the other in turn, and in the glow of the stars, and the city, and the Abafar beads, the daesyn flower bursts from its roots into a riot of colour and life.

The Specimen
Dear Slvata,
The recent destabilisation of events in this province, disruptive as they are to the commercial pursuits of our company, have afforded us a rare opportunity. I am sure you have followed your usual practice of addressing the contents of the hold first and your correspondence last; assuming your habits have not changed, and that the crew have restrained their worse impulses for violence and mischief, then let me confirm that yes, that is a live Urselk specimen.
The Valdini, their twin lusts for tribal blood and sheer incompetence not slaked by the massacre last season, seem to be increasing their aggression day upon day. Their losses, and indeed our own consequent losses, have yet granted us some specific gains. Hoitani bands have been notably thinned by Valdini pacification, and those that remain stay close to their camps and avoid engagement with foreigners. Thus we were able to mount an expedition deep into the province's interior, the natives being unable to prove our breach of the established norms or enforce their treaty-bound claims. Following the intelligence of a scout who has spent three full seasons in the highlands far west of the depot, a troop of marines tracked a pack of Urselk to their den.
The pack numbered nine in total; four adults and five cubs. The den was located in a cave, allowing our troops the tactical advantage. In a very neat manuever, overseen by myself, several canisters of somniferous vapours were deployed, rendering the beasts sluggish before they could react to our presence. The charge from the mouth of the cave undertaken by three of the adults was nonetheless terrifying. Even in a half-stupor, they are every bit equal to their fearsome descriptions in Hoitani lore.
The front rank of the marines fended off the beasts with bear-spears, modified for even greater length and strength, while those behind systematically bombarbed the Urselk with missiles. Destruction of the adults was achieved with minimal loss to the marine company. The unexpected return of the fourth adult upon our right flank resulted in the death of three young soldiers, before the beast was sufficiently wounded and driven away, no doubt to die from its injuries.
After allowing the gasses to dissipate from within the cave, we entered and came across the cubs. Two of these appear to have died from the gas, one was still tranquilized beyond resistance. The remaining two attempted to attack the party. The larger of the pair was subdued successfully while the lesser was killed in the attempt. The subdued and tranquilized specimens were both bound fast and removed to cages, and thence returned to the vessel. One cub died en route from its injuries. The crew of the vessel carrying this cargo to you has been given the strictest orders to refrain from baiting the remaining cub or from feeding it outside my strictly assigned diet of native fish, game, and fruit. It is my wish that the creature should reach you in the happiest possible health.
I lost no time in dissecting the available specimens, one adult and cub. I have included detailed drawings of this process. You will note some peculiar irregularities in the digestive system, and the engorged temporal arteries, no doubt to feed the large and highly developed antlers. The adult was two full lengths in height when standing upright. The meat of the beast is curiously sweet yet musty. Survit and Sorind took part in a meal of local fashion, including Urselk meat and local forage; I do not expect this fare to become the fashion in Mirsvr next season.
In addition to the live specimen, I have sent to you an adult and a cub, preserved in alcohol, along with the skin of the remaining adult and cub. The fifth cub was given to the marines of our expedition, to be divided among themselves for trophies and fetishes. For my own part, the intact skin and skeleton of my adult specimen is being returned to the family estate in Mirsvr for preservation; it will make a fine addition to the creatures in the entrance hall. The cub is being stuffed by one of the tradesmen in the Depot, and will remain here in my quarters; you will no doubt find the young creature I sent you to have a soft and gentle aspect that belies the fierceness of its adult nature, and I wish to keep this youth as my own companion in my offices for as long as I remain in Hoitan.
The pursuits of commerce are ephemeral, but the pursuits of scholarly knowledge persevere. I hope this letter and the specimen find you in good health.
Yours in friendship,
Egari tsi Yarh, Scholar-Attaché to the Hoitan 1st Depot, Temar Company

Very fine morning F 68 1/2 at 7:00 AM – sat writing with her in her room till 11 and not at all with her last night - reading ready at 7:00 this morning and looking at maps till 7 3/4 - breakfast at 7 ¾ - prayers (ourselves and George) from 8:50 to 9 ½ - Ann and I off in a little charabanc at 9:57 - very pretty drive along the lake shallow and reedy along the margin, and at the Duing or Douin at 11, a small village – little auberge and a few cottages and the chateau - at the foot of the mountain de Déré - agreed with cocher to take us to the head of the lake for 2 francs more ( 7 + 2 = 9 francs) –
there in 25 minutes at 11 1/2 - a sort of little port - a house and two or three stables and coal depot and flat-bottomed carriage boats to take to Annecy the coal (like anthracite) from the mountain d’Entreverne a little to the south of the head of the lake - and wood, and one of the boats was laden with a yellowish friable clay earth – 1/4 hour here walking about - the lake from Douin narrower and more confined, and prettier - the hoary green speckled, calcerous mountains very fine - back at Douin in 25 minutes at 12 1/4 - stopt 1/2 hour at the little auberge (belonging to the people who kept it) for Ann to eat her cold chicken - the woman had lived in service at the Chateau and volunteered going with us to see it - called a Chateauvieux built on a little premontory that seemed almost or quite too close the lake when seen from the other end of the lake - which was before the revolution of 1791 the property the Marquis de Sales whose son the present marquis is now anxious to buy it but the present proprietor M Berthé, who married a Genevese and spends his winters at Geneva, asked 100,000 francs and the Marquis only bids 90,000 francs the house and all about it, nice little gardens and terraces, are all mal entretenue- but nothing is done now that M and Mme Berthé have lost their only child a boy of six years old - before his death they kept a person here and the Chateau was full of people - among them many English - the chateau took us 40 minutes –
off again at 1:25 back at Annecy at 2:53 - few light drops of rain at 2 1/4 for about 10 minutes - very good road all the way, shaded with walnut trees – walked about Annecy - good and largish town - most of the streets arcaded as is common in Italy - went into the two principal churches, not handsome but full a lot of people - walked up to the castle - a barrack, so not allowed to enter the court without permission which not worthwhile to ask for - large pile of building - looking not very ancient perhaps about 12 or 13th century - off from the hotel de Genève (the only one to go to) Annecy at 3:33 – rain not heavy at 4:25 for about 20 minutes –
at Alby at 5:10 Alby beautiful! Situated at the edge of the plateau above the deep stream but at the foot of a cluster of green, wooded hills- glimpse of the old castle tower farish to the left - little church and town. and deep bedded stream, and handsome white stone bridge (one high arch) over it and ascend the hill by fine new road cut out of the rock - very fine, and beautiful, and picturesque there - well cultivated well wooded fine country - and fine mountain drive all the way from Annecy - still the white Salève-like steppy mountains, but more wooded - neat farm houses scattered though rather thinly all around - the Savoy valley is less populous than the Swiss –
Albens at 6, neat little town - here we get into the great high road from Geneva to Chambery which we left at St Julien - still the same fine, cultivated, wooded, rich, beautiful country and excellent road as before but rather wider – rained all today (as yesterday) almost everywhere lined with trees - willows, lombardy poplars (the tall, pyramidal) great many walnuts, and a few elms and apple trees -
at Aix at 7:25 - 1200 strangers – not a bed to be had - that maître de poste recommended my going to the post at Chambery – the commis we had from there to go about with us - said La parfait union was the best hotel - he went with us to see baths, the bains’ remains discovered about three years ago, in the garden of Mme Perrier, and the Roman arch near the pension of Mme Charpentier - this last house 10/. a day included board and lodging per person at 5/. for servants - chez Madame Perrier, and at La poste 7/. a day plus 3/5 for servants - tasted the water at the source - slightly sulphurous - not near so strong as at Harrogate - a very abundant spring - the swimming bath struck me as very small - not more than five or six yards square - what they called l’Enfer (the men's vapour bath) was hot and suffocating enough to deserve its name Ann could not even put her head into it - the thermes or bains romanes are very well worth seeing - perhaps the most perfect to be seen anywhere except at Rome - they say, there would be much more found if the garden was more searched into - the water, goits-corridors supported by 1 row of round and 1 of square pillars supplying communicating with the large square proscenium, are very perfect as are many of the square vapour tubes ( like fine brick) communicating with the vapour bath above - the Roman arch was never much ornamented and the ornaments there were all much worn and obliterated –
off from Aix at 8 grieved over being in the dark, but it could not be helped - alighted at La parfait union in the quiet streets little square en face de la cathedrale at Chambery at 10 - then at 11 - fine day in spite of the slight showers at 2 1/4 and 4:25 pm F 71 at 12:55 tonight -

Fuel Tank Owners Mitigate Lightning Risks With Fuel Tank Lightning Protection
The construction of large oil depots has become increasingly important, and oil storage safety also has become a hot topic. It can be seen from multiple major safety accidents that have occurred in recent years that lightning is considered one of the main causes of oil tank fires.
A little carelessness may cause casualties and huge economic losses.
Lightning is a natural climatic phenomenon common in our lives. We can regard them as a natural disaster with strong destructive power. The economic losses caused by lightning can reach tens of billions worldwide every year.
In the past, lightning protection systems (LPS) involved sticking a metal rod into the ground. Nowadays, fuel tank lightning protection involves a three-step process:
Protection of the structure
Grounding/Bonding
Surge Suppression
We are here to understand how a fuel tank catches fire and the best solution to prevent it.
Problem
When lightning makes contact with the tank shell or floating roof, the tank structure becomes electrically charged. If the floating roof is not electrically bonded to the tank shell, its electrical potential does not change as quickly. This can trigger a potential equalising arc above the seals, where there may be flammable vapours that can ignite and cause a rim fire.
Solution
Retractable Grounding Assemble – The introduction of a retractable grounding assembly (RGA) has allowed for a relatively easy and inexpensive way to bond floating roofs and tank shell on both old and new tanks while ensuring the shortest possible grounding route with very low resistance. The braided tape flexible wire is typically made of Aluminium Alloy instead of copper. As copper is prone to corrosion, especially in a hazardous environment where certain chemicals such as Hydrogen Sulphide is present. The Aluminium cable originally developed for marine use greatly improves corrosion resistance and is highly resistant to hydrogen Sulphide (H2S).
The RGA is not affected by the condition of the tank because the RGA and cable are bolted and sealed to optimal locations on the tank shell and floating roof. When properly applied, multiple RGAs on each tank provide low-impedance pathways to safely discharge lightning currents.
LEC’s recommendations for fuel tank lightning protection best practices are to first install RGAs on all tanks; second, a DAS lightning protection system should be installed on or above the tank, to prevent the termination of lightning strikes to the tank.

Berthé, who married a Genevese and spends his winter at Geneva, asks 100,000 fr. and the marquis only bids 90,000 fr. the house and all about it, nice little gardens and terraces, are all mal entretenus, but nothing is done now that M. and Madame Berthé have lost their only child a boy of six years old - before his death they kept a pension here and the chateau was full of people - among them many English - the chateau took us 40 minutes - off again at 1 25 back at Annecy at 2 33 – a few light drops of rain at 2 ¼ for about 10 minutes – very good road all the way, shaded with walnut trees – walked about Annecy - good and largish town – most of the streets arcaded as is common in Italy - went into the 2 principal churches, not handsome but full of people – walked up to the castle – a barrack, so not allow to enter the court without permission which not worthwhile to ask for - a large pile of building -looking not very ancient perhaps abut 12th or 13th century - Off from the hotel de Genève (the only one to go to) Annecy at 3 33 – rain not heavy at 4 25 for about 20 minutes - at Alby [Albi] at 5 10 - Alby [Albi] beautifully situated at the edge of the plateau above the deep stream but at the foot of a cluster of green, wooded hills - glimpse of the old castle tower farish to the left - little church and town – and deep bedded stream and handsome white stone bridge, one high arch over it and ascend the hilltop and fine new road cut out of the rock – very fine, and beautiful and picturesque here – well cultivated well wooded fine country - and fine mountain drive all the way from Annecy - still the white Salève-like, steppy mountains, but more wooded - neat farm houses scattered tho’ rather thinly all around - the Savoy valleys less populous than the Swiss - Albens at 6, neat little town – here we got into the great highroad from Geneva to Chambery which we left at St Julien - still the same fine, cultivated, wooded, rich, beautiful country and excellent road as before but rather wider - road all today (as yesterday) almost everywhere lined with trees - willows, Lombardy poplars (the tall, pyramidal) great many walnuts, and a few elms and apple trees - At Aix at 7 25 – 1200 strangers –not a bed to be had – the maître de poste recommended my going to la poste at Chambery – the commis we had from there, to go about with us, said La parfait union was the best hotel - he went with us to see the baths, the bains Romains discovered about 3 years ago, in the garden of Madame Perrier, and the Roman arch near the pension of Madame Charpentier - this last has 10/. a day including board and lodging par personne and 5/ for servants - chez Madame Perrier, and at La poste 7/. a day and 3/50 for servants - tasted the water at the source –slightly sulphurous – not near so strong as at Harrogate – a very abundant spring – the swimming bath struck me as very small – not more than 5 or 6 yards square – what they called L’Enfer (the men’s vapour bath) was hot and suffocating enough to deserve its name - A- could not even put her head into it - the thermes or bains Romans are very well worth seeing - perhaps the most perfect to be seen anywhere except at Rome - they say, there would be much more found if the garden was more searched into - the water goits - corridors supported by 1 row of round and 1 of square low pillars communicating (supplying) with the large square piscinum, are perfect as are many of the square earthian vapour tubes (like fine brick) communicating with the vapour bath above - the Roman arch was never much ornamented and the ornaments there were are much worn and obliterated - Off from Aix at 8 8 grieved over being in the dark, but it could not be helped - Alighted at La Parfait Union, in a quiet little square en face de la cathedral Chambery at 10 - dinner at 11 - fine day in spite of the slight shower at 2 ¼ and 4 25 pm F71° at 12 55 tonight.

Benefits of Using Bottom Loading Tankers
The tank of a tanker truck is usually divided into different compartments loaded with various fuels such as heating oil, diesel, petrol, petroleum, etc. There are two methods to fill the trick compartment of a tanker; top loading method and bottom loading method
In top loading method, the driver stands on the tank and inserts the depot’s loading arm into the compartment through a manhole. Top loading is less used due to safety and health issues related to it. For this reason, bottom loading is popularly used in the many parts of the world.
The bottom loading system is an installation on the tanker truck in which liquid fuel products are pumped through a system of valves and fittings mounted under a truck. It can be installed using one or two central couplings or with a separate coupling for each compartment to avoid the chances of product contamination. Some other benefits of bottom loading methods are:
· It saves loading time as several compartments can be loaded simultaneously, unlike top loading method.
· As operator remains on the ground during loading/unloading of tanker contents, it ensures better safety of the employees.
· There are sensors in bottom loading tanks to prevent overfilling.
· As liquid is introduced in tamper bottom up, it reduces vapour emissions.

Excavator And Loader Buckets, Thumbs, Rakes, Shovel Buckets, Track Guard
Excavator And Loader Buckets, Thumbs, Rakes, Shovel Buckets, Track Guard
JCB PART 819 - 00049 retrieves his excavator to use his chipper, shovel lifts ordinary earth, lifts it. JCB Part 821 - 001 - 818 - 012 - 9 - 1 - 0, in front of the shovel digging up the common earth.
If you plan to use a bucket, you can save money by buying a bucket that you can use for a lot of work. There are standard attachments that are equipped with excavators, but some are also called excavator buckets. With so many types of buckets, it's a good idea to hire one if you need to do a certain task. Many factors help to find the right bucket for your task, as there are a variety of different types and sizes of buckets on the market, and their price.
Remember that a shovel used in a 20-ton excavator would be about the size of a 10-ton shovel, or about 1,000 pounds. Berkhimer says buckets aren't much bigger than buckets, but excavators work much faster. Choose a larger bucket that will not affect your efficiency if you have a specific size requirement, such as digging a trench.
JCB excavator and loader buckets are available in both direct and quick-loading options, and JCB's 6.1-inch and 5.5-foot buckets are also available in various widths to increase the machine's versatility. The available attachments for skids and steering systems are a 3-ton bucket, a 6-to-1 bucket and a 2-to-1 bucket. Rent an excavator to use for other tasks than digging and digging, such as gardening and landscaping, or for small trees, shrubs, shrubs and ornamental plants. There are several ways to remove and transplant small trees, shrubs, shrubs or ornamental plants.
Hydraulic excavators require a so-called rear small rotating bucket, called a "rear - smaller" or "rotating bucket. The cab has also been reduced in size, and equipment, parts, controls and the like are tightly arranged (see full list in the home depot).
The 6-in-1 bucket enables machine operators to perform gripping and gripping operations under a wide variety of terrain conditions. The bucket attachment, which is unique in TriPower kinematics, ensures the following main features: 1,2 Alibaba. 2 Alibaba to prevent the spread of material, and 3. Tri-Power, which ensures a high level of control and control of the bucket and its attachments, as well as the removal of material from the ground.
Bradco Rock Cups increase productivity and add the versatile Bradco Gripper to the Bradco Rock Cups. With the TriPower Tri - Power Bucket attachment on the left side of your bucket, you sift dirt from stones and debris.
The thumb of the excavator is attached to the tip of the bucket to process irregularly shaped loads, pinch the material and hold it in place. Excavator buckets are equipped with side cutters that are thicker than the sides of the bucket. The bucket on the excavator bucket can hold up to 45 m of rock in a single bucket.
S 6060 are often used in agricultural operations and are frequently used in the mining industry as well as in mining operations and mining equipment.
Like the other Hitachi excavators, the S 6060 and its predecessor S-6050 have a good reputation. The highly forged manganese steel products, which retain their long-lasting hardness, wear out in harsh applications. Both offer similarly demanding applications in mining, agriculture and mining.
The S 6060 and S-6050 work well together in a wide range of applications, including mining, agriculture, forestry and construction.

Typical systems use hydraulic cylinders to perform the work required for hydraulic excavators and buckets used for construction and excavation. This low-cost option allows equipment and loaders to be converted into a fast loader system by simply switching between buckets, forks and buckets. Mantrac provides the perfect match between the Hydraulic Mining Shovel and the first hydraulic excavator to use only four direct-acting vapours. The bucket is derailed to deliver full power in buckets and smaller excavators, and the engine and hydraulic pump are driven by cooling from their oil reservoirs and filtered by the driver.

So hubby and I decided it was finally time to actually do some sort of makeover of our master bathroom. It wasn’t a big space but it certainly wasn’t a nice one either. The only thing acceptable in it was the shower itself. Somebody had obviously recently renovated it. Not necessarily in my choice of colour, but it was certainly good enough for us not to worry about ripping it up and starting over. This isn’t our forever home. We did however desperately want to get rid of the god-awful brown square tiles covering the floor and the lip leading into the shower.
I am reasonably sure the man who lived in this house prior to us, had absolutely no taste whatsoever, and I mean that in the nicest possible way. We have seen numerous examples throughout the house proving this point. Just look at the backsplash (almost identical to the bathroom tiles) and countertops in the kitchen:
I’m not sure if he was doing everything possible to eradicate everything even remotely feminine in this house (apparently they went through a pretty nasty divorce after he told her to leave because he had found “the love of his life”)! I mean he seriously sounds like such a dick anyway! Good riddance! And good riddance to the ugly brown tiles throughout the house that don’t match anything else.
Back to the bathroom: we had decided on the LifeProof vinyl flooring planks, having been very impressed by the way they’ve held up over the past year in our basement. We love the colour too (seasoned wood) and it looks amazing with blue paint (& every other colour too)! Here’s a link to it at the Home Depot: LifeProof Seasoned Wood multi-width vinyl flooring (and no, I’m not getting paid by them to share this link with you, though I wish I was! lol)
We knew how durable the vinyl flooring was because we used it in our basement renovation over a year ago and it has withstood three kids, a dog, a cat, numerous guests (the guest room and spare bathroom are down there) even some drunk people – yes, the bar and pool table are also down there! 😉 I was actually originally toying with the possibility of using the travertine, like I had done in the kids’ bathroom, but decided against it because of what a pain in the arse it became when I actually renovated the bathroom from hell (aka the kids’ bathroom). I didn’t want to rip out the existing tile, I wanted something easy to lay, was reasonably priced and was also durable – unlike the flooring we had put throughout the main level that looked beautiful at first, but damaged the minute you breathed near it (Here is a link showing some of the ‘wear and tear’ on this flooring. Do NOT buy this product, you will regret it and the company – Harmonics, holds no liability, blaming the installation process for everything! This was the Harmonics Spiced Applewood Laminate Flooring from Costco.)
Normally, you don’t need to lay any underlay underneath a vinyl flooring but because of the square tiles, I decided to use a vapour barrier one I had found on Amazon to help even out the uneven divides between each 2×2 inch tile. It obviously need to be something that could go in a bathroom, so this one was perfect: 3in1 Silent Vapor Barrier Flooring Underlayment w/overlap and tape 100sq.ft by Feather Step and you can’t beat the price at $18 for 100 sq. ft! Be prepared though, it does smell a bit when you open the packaging up.
The next thing you need to do is to work out how your flooring is going to lay. Because the Seasoned Wood Vinyl Flooring planks come in multi-widths, we had to plan this out in advance to get minimum waste. I suggest you do the same thing. Here is a time lapse video link to us laying the floor : Bathroom floor laying. So, the first thing I need to clarify is that we do have the vapor barrier upside down in this video. We did eventually reverse it, but it was a long process and quite frustrating, so I didn’t get video footage of that. Remember, silver side down.
The next problem we had was the super weird, ugly shower lip. Why would you put those ugly floor tiles going up the edge of the newly renovated shower? A normal person would have gotten rid of that, but not our guy! Probably because it was a tad too hard; it certainly puzzled us for a while as to how we were going to get rid of them without removing the tiles (we would have to do it all if we removed these ones).
Hubby suggested using baseboard, but I was very concerned about the moisture getting into it, even after I coated it with spar urethane (a special urethane that is used for sealing wood in areas where it will be exposed to water or strong sunlight). We tried it nonetheless and it looked like crap to be honest. I bought a couple of different types of tiles, but we needed something big enough and with nice enough edges, that it would look good on the top where it met the other tiles from the shower, or we needed something to finish it off. It was really a matter of trial and error. We had decided to use the Aspect Peel and Stick backsplash stainless long grain metal tiles behind the countertop (hubby’s suggestion) so I thought it might be a good idea to use these down the bottom of the shower, where it met the floor. But how to finish the edge off and cover the little bit of exposed ugly tile? I searched through the house looking for something I could use when I found it!!!
Yes, that is leftover wire cord from an IKEA light! If you look closely you can see that the outside is actually covered in plastic, it was surprisingly flexible too. I straightened the cord out, sealed the ends by melting the plastic for a split second and glued it on with a waterproof glue and Voila!
The Aspect Peel and Stick tiles with the IKEA lighting cord used as the finishing touch
The finished floor!
We love our new bathroom floor!

4 Modern DIY Tools That Will Change Your Life
Whether you've been into for DIY for years or you are only just starting out, there's nothing better than finding a solution that cuts down the time, energy, or expertise needed to pull off a job. There are hundreds of different tools out there most of which you probably haven't even heard of let alone know what to do with. If you are about to do a big DIY job it is worth doing a bit of research to see if there are any specific tools for the job. In some circumstances they can drastically increase the speed of the job, they can greatly reduce the effort you need to put in too. Finally, some tools will deliver a quality of finish that simply isn't possible without them.
There are lots of cheap hand tools but you can find they don't always give the best results. Don't forget that tool rental provides you with the opportunity to rent well maintained and professional quality tools for the same or less than the price of a brand new cheap hand tool. So if you are doing a one-off job find your local tool rental depot rather than buy.
In this post, we're introducing you to 4 handy tools that'll transform your DIY experiences by making things a heck of a lot easier. Have a run through this list to see if you're missing out!
A compact sprayer
Painting is often one of the most impactful yet time-consuming stages of any DIY project. Still think a good roller is the best way to cover large areas? Not anymore it isn't. With a compact sprayer, you can make light work of painting huge areas with maximum control and minimum levels of spillage. They're expensive pieces of kit so it's probably best to hire one if you're working on a one-off project.
Compact sprayers will work with most water or solvent based paints, they allow you to stay relaxed and demand far less physical work than having to throw around a paintbrush. The condensed air ensures the spray is applied as neatly as possible, without the risk of splash back or any nasty accidents. A must for anyone that loves a fresh coat of paint but hates the horror of stone-age painting tools.
You will need to buy some plastic decorating sheets ing and decorators tape to protect floors and adjacent walls or ceilings however these materials are cheap and easy to fix in place. You should also buy a decent quality face mask to prevent you from inhaling any of the paint vapour.
youtube
Dot & Line Lasers
Gone are the days of drawing marks on the walls to ensure you're lining up that elaborate set of special shelves without error. Now technology comes to the rescue in the form of dot & line lasers! These bad boys will save you hours of torture whenever you need to measure, check alignment, and ensure every aspect of your project is positioned exactly where it needs to be.
The device is compact enough to sit wherever you need it. It then projects a laser dot on an adjacent object or casts a line across a surface to give you the bearings you need to achieve absolute precision. You'll be amazed how quickly you'll be able to line up edges, work out angles, and measure distances with a dot laser at your side.
There is literally no DIY you can do that this tool won't make faster or give you a better finish – from measuring up for a kitchen, curtains, tiles to getting a good level for pictures, mirrors and wall hangings. In many cases it is really hard to measure accurately or get a level without a second person so if you are completing a project alone one of these tools will be a lifesaver. As a result, it is probably a good idea to invest in one of these and buy rather than rent.
youtube
A roof crawler
Need to fix a couple of roof tiles or installing a new satellite dish? No doubt the biggest fear you have is traversing those pesky slopes to reach wherever you need to be. Most people think it's just a case of getting up there and being as careful as you can to avoid a nasty slip. The thing is, it only takes one uncontrollable moment for the very worst to happen.
Don't fancy taking the risk? We don't blame you! A roof crawler has a structure similar to a typical straight ladder but has an extension at the top end that bends to rest along the surface of the roof. What you get is a stretch of the ladder that lets you travel across your roof far more securely. With one of these in your inventory, you'll have far less reason to ever fear working on the roof again. Cheaper models are affordable to buy but more pricey models are bound to offer a more secure design. If you have a lot to do up there, it might be worth renting a premium roof crawler for however long you think the job will take you.
A Hand-held Sander
This is a tool that's definitely worth having around if you find yourself working with a lot of wood. Without a sander you'll be doing things the old fashioned way, taking a sheet of sandpaper in your palm and rubbing down for hours on end Cinderella-style. Nobody likes manual sanding, especially if you have a good volume of surface space to get through. If you are filling holes or cracks in plastered walls than? A hand-held sander will give you a much neater finish than manual sanding.
Dodge all that unnecessary grafting by getting yourself a reliable machine sander. The best models are light enough to hold in one hand, give you much greater ability to sand hard to reach areas like ceilings, and many come with features to help vacuum up dust. Hate the fact that walls, furniture, and wooden work surfaces take days to smooth out? You can put those days behind you once you've invested in a good sander.
