TINY WEE PSA
Hi! Are you trying to write some British people? Here are some random thoughts about exaggerated Britishness (With heavy chat about Scotland because I know Scotland the best):
"I'm going to the store!" Store is not a popular word for a place to buy things. People from the UK will generally say "shop". If they're just going to get milk or something, they may go to the "corner shop" - which people from NY especially will know as a "bodega"
"Hand me an eraser." While some people do say eraser, "rubber" is more common. This is amusing to me because to people from the US especially, it's very different in meaning.
If your character is visiting someone, it's very common to be offered tea. "Fancy a cup of tea?" or more casually "Fancy a cuppa?"
Pub ≠ bar. Pubs include bars, but are also places to get a meal. People do go there to drink ("Get a pint") though, and some pubs don't serve children or allow them in. Many do, however.
There are 100s of accents across the nation, more than just typical posh English, Welsh and Scottish. Please pay attention to your character's background and dialect. The city of London alone has 4 major accents. (For Good Omens fans, Crowley and Aziraphale are both sensationally posh. Aziraphale speaks "The Queen's/King's English" which is notably more formal and collected - Crowley does not.)
Some good swears include "Bellend", "Pillock", "Knob" and "Twat". In Scotland we also have the tamer "Daft(ie)" and "Tube"! Any object can become an insult: "You FUCKING MICROWAVE"
Some good pet names include "Love", "Pet" and "Poppet"
Along with tea we have a carbonated drink called Irn Bru. This is ESPECIALLY popular to Scots but you can find it in England. It is bright orange and fruity in taste.
We buy milk in pints
The chocolate bar Freddo is typically how we measure inflation these days. (I wish I could say this was a joke but tabloids love the chocolate test)
It does rain a lot. Like a shit ton. There are sunny days but nonetheless. The way to start conversation is ALWAYS weather. "Lovely weather innit?" always works, especially in terrible weather.
Sarcasm and dry humour are very popular.
IT IS A PETROL STATION, NOT A GAS STATION
A lot of people smoke or vape. This is very evident especially in cities like London and Edinburgh.
People from southern England especially are typically very removed and tend not to pay attention to anyone else. It's a massive "Not my problem". They can be very friendly by all means, but typically keep to themselves and don't talk to many people.
Biscuits rule the world, especially custard creams. (Jk, they're very loved though)
The school systems are different from that in the rest of the world. Even to one another. The Scottish, Welsh and English education systems are different - but are all composed of Primary school and Secondary school.
Typically people are either passionately wild for the Royal Family or REALLY dislike them.
Terraced and semi detached housing is very common. In Scotland we have "closies" which are blocks of flats that home lots of people, and are typically very square and deshevelled.
McDonald's did not arrive here until the 70s. People were confused by it to begin with.
Fish and chips is a stereotypical yet popular dish. Many people refer to going to a fish and chips shop as "Going to the chippy". Often they do not have seating, and are takeout exclusive.
Britain is a geographical reality, composed of Scotland, Wales and England. The United Kingdom is political and composed of Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and England.
Irish people may not enjoy being referred to as "British". Furthermore do not call a Welsh, Scottish or Irish person "English". This is a bad idea and will make people mad.
Day in the life of a true Brexit geezer is a documentary. (Jk)
Basically everyone "hates" the English. Whether this is playful or genuine varies from person to person. Even the English hate the English.
Older women especially have very strong feelings about Princess Di (She was so beloved)
For Good Omens fans: Soho is a small tiny little area in the BOROGH of "The City of Westminster". This is a borogh at the heart of London. You can walk Soho in a day.
Most cities don't have boroughs, but do have wee areas which are basically suburbs or collections of areas.
In schools, it's very common to refer to your teachers as "Sir" and "Miss". This also applies outside of school for young people, but generally is seen more in schools.
"Mate" is the most common way to address a male presenting person passive aggressively, along with "Love" for female presenting people. "Mate" is more common and works both ways.
"Pissed" means drunk. "Oh, he's pissed" = "Oh, he's drunk". Increasingly you'll find people say "pissed" to mean angry, especially young people. However "peeved" is what was originally used to mean angry.

A couple years back there was an interview on the radio.
It was an owner of a vape shop where his insisted his primary customers were smokers trying to quit. He proclaimed how he worked with his customers to lower the nicotine intake each time they came in and how vapes were incredibly important for people quitting smoking. I don’t know if this is true but it was the point of the interview, that vapes were different from smoking and were sold for ‘good’ reasons.
The radio host pointed out the rising number of young people vaping. That people who had never smoked were taking up vaping instead due to its cleaner image and vapes still contain nicotine, an addictive substance.
The shop owner insisted he never sold to minors. He could tell by a look if the customer was a smoker or someone there just to vape. There wasn’t actually any legislation in the Ireland to prevent the selling to minors at the time (it’s being approved now) but it was fairly common for people to refuse sale. However it still meant there were shops kids could buy vapes, technically.
The radio host once again pointed to the age old story of older siblings buying younger siblings illegal substances. Or an old friend using their new privilege to get the entire group alcohol or vapes. And that you couldn’t prove anything about a customer, that he likely did sell to non-smokers and people who intended to allow minors to vape.
He continued to deny that possibility until the interviews end. Vapes weren’t new but barely any information about health affect's had come out. There was just a big scary ‘what if’ and the general idea under 18s shouldn’t be addicted to nicotine. Adults could do whatever they wanted.
So I watched people I knew to be intelligent take up vaping. It was incorporated into youth culture. You can’t tell them they should quit, for one it can be rude and for two, there isn’t any research or resources to point to easily. Smoking has its host of ‘if you smoke- you will die’ adverts and there’s large campaign in Ireland to end smoking. Smoking numbers have been decreasing among the population and we’ll get even more info on it now that a question about smoking practices is in the census. Vaping however has been rising. In 2019, 39% of teenagers had tried vaping, in comparison to 32% trying smoking. Source Most reported it was out of curiosity or from friends. Only 3% took it up to quit smoking.
These numbers having been increasing across the entire population but its still very low, with teenage to young adult boys being more at risk.
All that said is to point out its prevalence. I know kids who can’t sit through a class without vaping, or cloud up bathroom stalls every day. People who get a look in their eyes and then excuse themselves, like the look I saw on my smoking relatives. You get to horror stories of 17 year old kids being admitted to hospital with lung problems. For the most part smokers know the harm their habit causes, it’s not out of ignorance so they avoid people when they smoke so that people can avoid second hand smoke. Vapers don’t. They will vape in your face, because ‘its smells good though’. (Don’t get me started on how predatory the different refill smells can be. You’re marketing to children just admit it). They will take it up more easily to fit in with a peer group. When told the negative side effects we’re starting to see, they’re like ‘oh well, i didn’t know that but it’s too late to quit now’. We don’t campaign to vapers to quit because like the shop owner believed, vapers are smokers trying to quit and we can’t tell quitters to quit quitting. Luckily we are seeing data to prove more and more people are taking up vaping first, not smoking.
I know I sound like your mom but you kids need to stop fucking vaping

Cheapest Cigarettes in Australia
With the best deals on cigarette online in australia, you can enjoy unique flavours without breaking the bank. ecChoice is Adelaide's leading discount tobacco and vaping shop.
Increasing the price of cigarettes is one of the most effective strategies to reduce smoking, but it's not without cost. Cigarette tax increases can differentially impact smokers, causing some to shift down to cheaper brands.
1.       Buy in bulk
In Australia, cigarette sales are highly taxed. Increasing tobacco taxes has the potential to reduce smoking rates by making cigarettes less affordable for smokers, or to prevent new entrants from starting to smoke.
Nevertheless, there is substantial discounting of cigarettes by retail outlets. A recent national fieldwork agency survey found that reported prices paid by consumers for factory-made cigarettes were 5.8% lower than the recommended retail price (RRP).
This is an important consideration in evaluating the effectiveness of tobacco taxes to reduce tobacco use. The World Health Organization suggests that a tobacco product’s affordability should be measured in relation to an average worker’s earnings. It takes over two hours for a 20-cigarette-per-day smoker to earn enough money to purchase one pack of the most popular brands sold at recommended retail prices in Australia.
The current study monitored before and after the implementation of plain packaging the advertised price per stick of the most prominently promoted single packs of cigarettes in stores in four Australian cities where price boards were still permitted. Prices increased above the inflation rate and were driven by increases in excise/customs duty.
2.       Buy online
The cheapest cigarettes in australia can be bought at online stores. These websites are known to offer cheaper prices than traditional tobacco stores and even sell imported cigarette brands at lower costs. They also offer free shipping and fast delivery of the cigarettes purchased. This makes them an excellent choice for smokers who want to avoid paying high tobacco taxes.
The most important indicator available of actual prices faced by smokers is the component of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) that covers tobacco products. In 2011, Australia ranked fourth in relative affordability of cigarettes. A pack of the cheapest cigarettes in Australia cost more than a Big Mac in countries other than Singapore, Ireland and New Zealand.
Despite the high recommended retail prices, Australian smokers were able to purchase cigarettes at discounts of up to 5.8% below their RRPs. This was primarily due to discounting by supermarkets and the existence of a large range of cheap factory-made and roll-your-own cigarettes.
3.       Buy in bulk
Unlike most other goods and services, the cost of tobacco products is largely a function of taxes rather than production costs. Thus, a key determinant of prices is the level and structure of excise duties, fees and taxes on tobacco sales. In general, higher tobacco taxes lead to lower prices as consumers seek to minimise these costs by switching to cheaper brands or pack sizes or shopping at low-cost outlets.
As a result, tobacco price increases tend to disproportionately impact different population subgroups. In Australia, for example, the price of cigarettes has risen rapidly following the introduction of plain packaging, with higher per stick prices recorded in value (Craven A Cork Tip 20s), mainstream (McClarens Gold) and premium (Rothmans) market segments. In addition, there has been considerable discounting of cigarettes by supermarkets and tobacconists. Per cigarette sales prices of RYO tobacco have remained substantially lower than those of FM cigarettes. However, the price gap has progressively widened since 2001.
4.       Buy in bulk
In Australia, the prices of cigarettes are heavily influenced by state licence fees and tobacco taxes. As a result, the reported price that smokers actually pay is generally lower than the recommended retail price. This gap has widened over time.
Tobacco product prices are monitored each quarter by the component of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) that includes cigarettes and tobacco products. These data provide the longest-running indicator of actual price changes for cigarette packs.
This study monitored before and after the introduction of plain packaging the advertised price of the most prominently promoted and lowest-priced single pack of cigarettes in outlets in four Australian cities where pricing boards are permitted. A panel of trained fieldworkers visited stores monthly from May 2012 – 7 months before the implementation of plain packaging – until August 2013. The price of a cigarette was recorded for each visit. Data were analysed using a repeatedmeasures observational design.

Extreme heat is impacting most Americans’ electricity bills (AP) During the summer, Levena Lindahl closes off entire rooms, covers windows with blackout curtains and budgets to manage the monthly cost of electricity for air conditioning. But even then, the heat finds its way in. Lindahl, 37, who lives in North Carolina, said her monthly electricity bills in the summer used to be around $100 years ago, but they’ve since doubled. Around 7 in 10 Americans say in the last year extreme heat has had an impact on their electricity bills, ranging from minor to major, and most have seen at least a minor impact on their outdoor activities, according new poll from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research. The poll found that about 7 in 10 Americans have been personally affected by extremely hot weather or extreme heat waves over the past five years. That makes extreme heat a more common experience than other weather events or natural disasters like wildfires, major droughts and hurricanes, which up to one-third of U.S. adults said they’ve been personally affected by.
New Yorkers are warned from the skies about impending danger from storms as city deploys drones (AP) Gone is the bullhorn. Instead, New York City emergency management officials have turned high-tech, using drones to warn residents about potential threatening weather. With a buzzing sound in the background, a drone equipped with a loudspeaker flies over homes warning people who live in basement or ground-floor apartments about impending heavy rains. “Be prepared to leave your location,” said the voice from the sky in footage released Tuesday by the city’s emergency management agency. “If flooding occurs, do not hesitate.” About five teams with multiple drones each were deployed to specific neighborhoods prone to flooding. Zach Iscol, the city’s emergency management commissioner, said the messages were being relayed in multiple languages. Flash floods have been deadly for New Yorkers living in basement apartments, which can quickly fill up in a deluge. Eleven people drowned in such homes in 2021 amid rain from the remnants of Hurricane Ida.
‘Why Trash Your Own Town?’ An English City Reckons With a Riot. (NYT) Last Friday afternoon, as the pubs in the northeastern English city of Sunderland were filling with young men, Lesley McLaren made a decision: She was closing up shop early. She had heard about the riots in Southport after three children there were killed in a stabbing attack. Now, she worried that trouble might be coming to her own city. Just hours later, a violent mob swept through the streets. Rioters attacked police officers, looted stores, burned buildings and set a car on fire. Elsewhere in England and Northern Ireland the next day, people rioted in about a dozen other cities. In interviews this week, some Sunderland residents were appalled by the violence, even those who said they understood why people might be frustrated by Britain’s sharply increased rate of immigration, most of it legal. “Why trash your own town?” asked Peter Wilson, 69, who works in the Sunderland offices of the Citizens Advice charity, which helps people in crisis navigate debt, legal issues, housing problems and other challenges. Rioters burned some of the charity’s offices, though it was unclear if they were the target since they are next to a former police building that still says “police.” “Ransacking a vape shop in support of families in Southport—how does this help anybody?” Mr. Wilson said, shaking his head.
Migrants struggle to cope with Portugal’s housing crisis (Reuters) Seeking a more comfortable life, 50-year-old carpenter Andreia Costa moved to Portugal from Brazil in 2022, but within months her hopes were dashed, as the country’s housing crisis left her unable to afford accommodation and forced to live in a tent. On a site on the outskirts of Lisbon she was joined by other migrants and some locals, priced out of a city where rents have soared 94% since 2015 and house prices have risen 186%, according to housing data specialists Confidencial Imobiliario. Meanwhile, Portugal remains one of western Europe’s poorest nations with the region’s lowest average wages. The housing crisis is rooted in a chronic shortage of affordable housing, aggravated by the arrival of wealthy foreigners lured by residency rights linked for some years to property investment and tax breaks offered by the state. A tourism boom has seen a surge in short-term holiday lets, further squeezing the housing market.
State of emergency declared as Ukraine launches raid into Russia (BBC) A state of emergency has been declared in the Kursk region of Russia, as a rare cross-border attack by Ukrainian troops continued for a second day. The acting regional governor, Alexei Smirnov, said the move was necessary "to eliminate the consequences of enemy forces coming into the region". Thousands of people have also been evacuated from border areas, Mr Smirnov said earlier, adding that doctors were being drafted in from other cities. Earlier, President Vladimir Putin accused Ukraine of launching a "major provocation" after Moscow said hundreds of troops crossed the border near the town of Sudzha, 10km (six miles) from the border, on Tuesday morning. They were supported by 11 tanks and more than 20 armoured combat vehicles, the Kremlin added. Ukrainian incursions into Russian territory have been extremely rare since Russia launched its full-scale invasion in February 2022.
Nobel Laureate Tapped to Lead Interim Government in Bangladesh (NYT) The president of Bangladesh on Tuesday appointed Muhammad Yunus, a pioneer in microfinance and a Nobel laureate, to oversee an interim government, accommodating demands by protesters and offering a reprieve for a country scarred by violence. The plans for a new government were announced a day after Bangladesh’s authoritarian leader, Sheikh Hasina, resigned and fled the country amid a popular uprising. With the Bangladeshi Parliament dissolved, Mr. Yunus, 84, is expected to lead a temporary government for an uncertain period of time.
Thai court orders dissolution of anti-establishment election winner (Reuters) Thailand's Constitutional Court on Wednesday ordered the dissolution of the anti-establishment opposition party Move Forward, ruling its campaign to amend a law that protects the monarchy from criticism risked undermining the democratic system. The disbandment of Move Forward, which won most seats in the 2023 election, is the latest setback for Thailand's major political parties that are embroiled in a two-decade battle for power against a nexus of influential conservatives, old money families and the royalist military.
Hiroshima governor says nuclear disarmament must be tackled as a pressing issue, not an ideal (AP) Hiroshima officials urged world leaders Tuesday to stop relying on nuclear weapons as deterrence and take immediate action toward abolishment—not as an ideal, but to remove the risk of atomic war amid conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East and rising tensions in East Asia. They commented as Hiroshima remembered its atomic bombing 79 years ago at the end of World War II. Hiroshima Gov. Hidehiko Yuzaki said nuclear-armed nations and supporters of atomic deterrence “deliberately ignore ... the fact that once people invented a weapon, they used it without exception.” “As long as nuclear weapons exist, they will surely be used again someday,” Yuzaki said in his address at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park.
Israeli minister says it may be ‘moral’ to starve 2 million Gazans, but ‘no one in the world would let us’ (CNN) Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said “it may be just and moral” to starve 2 million Gaza residents until Israeli hostages are returned, but “no one in the world would let us.” In a speech on Monday at the Katif Conference for National Responsibility in the town of Yad Binyamin, the far-right minister said Israel should take control of distributing aid inside Gaza and claimed that Hamas was in control of distribution channels within the strip. “It is impossible in today’s global reality to wage war—no one in the world would let us starve and thirst two million citizens, even though it may be just and moral until they return our hostages,” he said, adding that if Israel controlled aid distribution instead of Hamas, the war would have ended by now and the hostages would have returned. Israel is facing mounting criticism from aid groups and international organizations for restricting food aid to the besieged Gaza Strip. A United Nations statement, citing independent experts, indicated last month that famine has spread across the entire enclave. The experts accused Israel of conducting an “intentional and targeted starvation campaign,” which they termed a “form of genocidal violence.”
Hamas names Yahya Sinwar, mastermind of the Oct. 7 attacks, as its new leader in show of defiance (NYT/AP/compiled) Hamas has chosen a new leader after Israel killed Ismail Haniyeh, the group’s previous head, using an explosive device in Iran last week. The new chief, Yahya Sinwar, is a longtime leader of Hamas’ military planning in Gaza, where he was born. The 61 year-old’s exact location is unknown even to most of Hamas, but he’s thought to be directing his group from the tunnel networks under Gaza. Israel’s foreign minister said his official ascendancy is “yet another compelling reason to swiftly eliminate him and wipe this vile organization off the face of the earth.” Meanwhile, tensions remain high in the wider Middle East. Both Lebanon’s Hezbollah militant group and Iran’s government have promised to retaliate for Israeli attacks on militant leaders on their soil, with the world waiting to see how the attacks would unfold. In a televised speech yesterday, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah promised that his group’s response to the killing of a top Hezbollah commander would be both “strong” and “effective,” adding that the retaliation would come with or without the help of other Iran-backed militant groups. Iran also has revenge plans in the works, though it’s currently unclear when or where the country would strike. An envoy from Russia visited Iran late yesterday in order to warn Tehran against striking civilian targets in its attack, highlighting just how much the global community is worried that the response will cause a wider war in the Middle East.
In Israel and Lebanon, life goes on even as the region teeters on the edge of all-out war (AP) In Beirut, shops are open and traffic is as snarled as ever. In Tel Aviv, cafes hum with patrons and umbrellas sprout across crowded beaches. Such scenes may seem surreal in a region teetering on the edge of all-out war—and beneath the surface there is plenty of fear and anxiety. But after 10 months of near-daily border skirmishes, strikes further afield and escalating threats, a sense of fatalism seems to have set in. The killings last week of two militant leaders in Beirut and Tehran—attributed to Israel—brought vows of revenge from Iran and Lebanon’s Hezbollah. Everyone expects that an all-out war would be far more devastating than any previous conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, including the 2006 war. But in Nahariya, a coastal Israeli town just 6 kilometers (3.7 miles) south of Lebanon, Israelis lounged at the beach and surfers caught waves in the shadow of the hills rolling along the border.

How to Find the Cheapest Cigarettes in Australia
Smokers in Australia are paying an astronomical price for their cigarettes. With a pack of 20 costing upwards of $40, it’s no wonder that some are turning to illegally imported cigarettes to save money.
Tobacco prices in high-income countries are generally rising faster than purchasing power. Despite this, smoking rates have declined in many of these countries.
Illegally Imported Cigarettes
Illegal tobacco store online imports are a global problem fuelled by organised crime groups. This black market trade encourages addiction and robs governments of billions in tax revenue. Border Force has been processing record amounts of illicit cigarettes and tobacco in recent months.
The Australian government taxes tobacco products to make them less affordable, based on the average weekly ordinary time earnings (AWOTE). It also requires all cigarettes sold in Australia to be sold in plain packaging with graphic health warnings.
After a Herculean battle against the might of multinational big tobacco, Australia’s anti-tobacco laws are now the world’s gold standard in cutting cancer and premature death from smoking. But the easy availability of cheap, illegally-imported cigarettes undermines these programs. This can be frustrating for the police who work tirelessly in the field. They raid industrial storage sheds and rural safe houses smuggling cigarettes and nicotine-fuelled vapes. They also comb industrial ports in the hunt for boats loaded with contraband.
Chinese Counterfeit Cigarettes
Despite the fact that Australia has one of the lowest rates of daily smoking in the world, criminal syndicates continue to flood the country with illegal cigarettes. Smugglers are bringing them in through sea and air cargo, as well as hiding them in passenger luggage.
The average price of a pack of cigarettes in Australia is more than double that of the top-selling brands in Ireland and New Zealand, according to Numbeo data. However, a pack of cigarettes costs less in Singapore and Hong Kong.
A Chinese man who was arrested in Melbourne last March is awaiting extradition to the US over his role in a tobacco smuggling scheme that generated more than $700 million for North Korea. The Federal Bureau of Investigation alleges that Jin Guanghua helped Pyongyang manufacture counterfeit Western cigarettes to raise money for its nuclear weapons program. He is now facing charges of sanctions violations, bank fraud, and conspiracy. He has pleaded not guilty to the US charges.
Black Market
When people shop online for their online tobacco store Australia products they can explore a much wider selection than what is available in local brick-and-mortar stores. This can be especially beneficial for smokers who are looking for a particular brand or variety of product that is not readily available locally.
Cigarette prices in Australia have risen dramatically following government increases in excise taxes and customs duties. In fact, the country has one of the highest cigarette prices in the world.
Cigarette price hikes are supposed to be an important tool in preventing young people from taking up smoking. But they should not be the only measure that is relied upon, according to public health expert Coral Gartner.
ecChoice
Cigarette taxes in Australia are among the highest in the world, and many smokers have had to turn to illegal websites to find affordable cigarettes. These sites sell packs of the cheapest cigarettes in Australia from overseas for a fraction of the retail price, and will ship them to Australia in discreet packages, gift wrapped to circumvent customs inspections.
Increasing tobacco excise is a widely accepted strategy to reduce smoking rates, but these increases also impact different groups of smokers. For example, younger smokers are more likely to be affected by higher prices than older smokers, since they are less accustomed to paying for their habit.
Tobacco tax increases are one of the main factors driving prices of cigarette store online in Australia, which are among the highest in the world. But some smokers are looking for alternatives to traditional cigarettes, such as e-cigarettes, which are available at a range of prices. Some of these devices are disposable, while others are reusable and offer a range of fruity flavours.

New Post has been published on https://yaroreviews.info/2023/12/recycling-electrical-goods-could-be-done-at-kerbside-and-drop-off-points-in-shops
Recycling electrical goods could be done at kerbside and drop-off points in shops
Getty Images
By Thomas Mackintosh
BBC News
Kerbside collections for small electrical goods such as toasters and hairdryers could be rolled out across the UK from 2026 under government proposals to boost recycling.
Ministers are also considering drop-off points in shops where households can recycle unwanted items for free.
Retailers would also be made to collect unwanted larger electrical items when delivering replacements.
Customers would no longer be charged for collection on delivery services.
Many retailers, such as B&Q, John Lewis and Currys, currently offer a paid-for collection service for large electrical appliances when customers buy a similar item.
The reforms are part of the government’s plans to boost recycling, as it found 155,000 tonnes of smaller household electricals such as cables, toasters, kettles and power tools are wrongly thrown away each year.
About 500 tonnes of fairy lights are discarded at Christmas in the UK, the government estimates.
Ministers will engage with manufacturers, retailers and small businesses throughout a 10-week consultation, which opened on Thursday.
Nearly half a billion small tech items thrown away
Recycling minister Robbie Moore said the plans would ensure goods avoid being needlessly thrown away.
“Every year millions of household electricals across the UK end up in the bin rather than being correctly recycled or reused,” he said.
“This is a sheer waste of our natural resources and has to stop.”
He added the level of household waste produced over the Christmas period highlighted the need for change.
The government will also consult on ensuring vape suppliers fund collections of single-use products to avoid them ending up in landfill, although this will not necessarily see them entirely recycled.
Nearly five million vapes are now thrown away every week – almost four times higher than last year, it said.
A recent study on public attitudes found more than 77% of householders would view a retailer as more environmentally responsible if they knew they offered an electrical recycling service.
The Environmental Services Association’s executive director welcomed the plans, saying it could make it “simpler and more convenient” for households to recycle electrical items at home.
Jacob Hayler added: “On behalf of those operating recycling centres and kerbside collection services, we welcome the opportunity to contribute through consultation and help create an effective system that delivers on its intended outcomes and works, not just for householders, but for obligated producers and retailers too.”
The range of measures are proposed within the joint UK government, Scottish government, Welsh government and Northern Ireland Executive consultation.

Alright. My family update.
My mom got back from Ireland at the beginning of this year. I guess she’s fine. I haven’t really seen her. Not because I don’t want to, school just started back as soon as she got home. So, I’ve seen her once or twice since. My dad was in Ireland for the month of December. Good for him. Which left my brother alone for Christmas. I had invited him to come with me to the Zamora Christmas but he had a friend from law school invite him up to their Christmas. Ceire was in town for a minute at the beginning of December. That was fine. There was a moment when we were hanging out, and Ceire was talking about Michelle’s sister in that she was so into drugs and this abusive relationship that she was choosing to be homeless somewhere in Oklahoma. They were laughing about it, and I said, Well, noted. If my sister ever becomes homeless in Oklahoma, pushing around a shopping cart, I’m hunting her down and throwing her in the back of my car. End of story.” Well, then Michelle says, “Well now we know how to get you to visit!!!!!!” Honestly, was kind of mad. Here’s the thing. All Ceire ever talks about is how much she hates where she lives and that it’s honestly not safe. I only have a certain amount of vacation a year. One week specifically now that I work for a small business that can’t afford to give people more within the first year of employment. Why would I go out to the middle of bumfuck Oklahoma with the little amount of vacation I have? Nothing outside of my seeing my sister seems remotely enticing to me to spend the little vacation time I have out there. I’m sure she gets mad every time I go to Hawaii, but my opportunity to go to Hawaii is not going to be there forever and I want to take advantage of that opportunity as much as I can with the vacation time I have. Sounds a little selfish but I have to be selfish to survive these days.
Ceire has been talking about moving back for like two years now and won’t because of Mom and Dad? Sorry, I’m not buying it. Mom and Dad would literally pay for it. And for Michelle, if it meant getting Ceire home and away from Oklahoma. Everything is cheaper here in Kentucky and she could find a decent place here with a better job. I think Ceire just wants to suffer. Seriously. I know that sounds harsh but apparently, she was starving out in Oklahoma when Michelle lost her job and before Ceire got her job. Starving to the point in which they started scamming Walmart and then got banned from Walmart. She’s lucky that’s all that happened and that she didn’t go to jail. Why didn’t she tell us? At least tell me? Or maybe she didn’t because I ratted her out when she was physically in danger because Michelle’s ex was trying to kill her for taking Michelle from him, so now she doesn’t trust me for saying enough is enough? Who cares I guess. How do I know all of this about Walmart? She told me in a drunken stupor when we all played games at my parent's house with Sean and two of his friends. She was so uncomfortable being around everyone that she couldn’t do it without drinking. And all we were doing was playing games. That's it. She drank so much that Michelle and Vineza had to take the bottle from her because she started drinking straight from it. She fell down the stairs trying to get away from everything. I was so mad.
Zoë, surprisingly, was the one who followed her downstairs after Ceire fell down them. Sean and I eventually got up and started looking for her. Sean found her vape on the stairs and handed it to me. He turned his back, and you better bet I ripped the shit out of that while I could. It’s been so long that it burned the hell outta my lungs. Or maybe it was just that strong. That was probably the beginning of the deterioration of my own mental health. December was not a good time for me. Sean asked me, “Why does Ceire hate us so much? What did we do? And, if she hates us so much, why does she bother visiting?” I know why Ceire doesn’t like Sean, and I probably don’t have it in me to tell him, nor should I be the one to communicate that to him. But for Ceire to not tell me that she’s starving out in Oklahoma sparks a different kind of anger. So, if people ask me how Ceire is doing, I’m like, “WHO KNOWS??? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.” But they can afford special edition presses of Vinyl. They can afford tickets to see Taylor Swift. But they still somehow can’t afford to move back. It’s fine.
