so um... i found a pose reference that gave me big vanishay vibes, but then i got carried away then tried to turn it into a lore moment for some reason? 😭

i don’t totally like how his arm looks plus i couldn’t get him low enough because the height difference was making it a really awkward angle, but that’s what i get for copying the anime style again... it’s janky but close enough lmao full disclosure vanilla's bangs and face are heavily referenced bc they were giving me the most grief to copy, no thanks to all those damn little LINES. reference + transparent vers. under the cut!

I hope this letter finds you well. I know that lately your heart has been feeling unwell and I'm so sorry to hear this. If I could, I would kiss all these bad feelings away and hold you until all those negative thoughts leave your mind. I know at times you can't stop those overwhelmingly bad thoughts, but the thing is that's all they are - bad thoughts. They aren't real. The brain likes to think of the worst case scenarios, but often it's just fear and insecurities which are so far from the truth. I understand being fearful of losing those you care about, or worrying about being a "burden" or other negative thinking... but that is never the case.

Your friends love you and care for you so much. I love and care for you so much. I hope one day you can see yourself the way I do, and the way your friends do. They always seem so excited to interact with you and listen to your thoughts. I wish you could see that too. Until then, I promise to be by your side and I hope to comfort you to the best of my ability. I will always do my best to support you during the good times and bad. shay wonders what happened to make vanilla ice so distant so suddenly. they used to get along just fine, but lately he’s been so short with her, unable to be around her for an extended period of time without snapping at her or lashing out. it’s like he’s been continually stressed about something for weeks, but she can’t figure out what and doesn’t want to attempt to ask, lest her chew her out again. she’s always known he was a bit cold, but this is new to her, and conflicts with what she’d been feeling. she is no stranger to random feelings bubbling up every now and then—in fact she’d considered it a bit of a problem back in high school, but it’s so hard to squash a crush like that when the person of interest is your tall and tan live-in coworker with a pretty face... she’s considered confessing her attraction since said feelings had such a strong grip on her, but his recent behavior was beginning to make her want to reconsider. he may be been rather stoic with most others, but she’s wiggled her way beneath that seemingly permanent scowl. she didn’t know what camaraderie looked like with a man like that, but she figured they’d reached that point once he went out of his way to invite her along to the usual hookah cafe on the odd occasion their master would permit an outing... now it was rare for him to attend himself. had she done something wrong without realizing and inadvertently pushed him too far? if only she could get him to stop avoiding her so she could ask.

vanilla ice has never felt anything like this before and it feels as if it’s devouring him from the inside out, like some ironic twist on his stand. he’s never cared about a woman like this—no, he’s never cared about anyone like this. he idolizes lord dio, but he’s never felt anything of this caliber before. he doesn’t know how to process this feeling. the fact that he can’t be around her without breaking out in a cold sweat is destroying him, he’s a wreck. why did this have to happen and why did it have to be her. he tries to reason with himself about this godforsaken feeling that threatens to consume him. he’s not in love with her, a four letter word that nearly brings him to his knees. he’s not in love with her, he tells himself… but the thought of ever having to see her in the arms of another man fills him with a profound dread, the kind that spreads thru his body like a kick in the ribs. it terrifies him, and he hates it. deep in a section of his heart that he dares not acknowledge, he wants it to be him, nobody else. he hesitates to act on it; he has important duties, he shouldn’t even be thinking about her. he could never forgive himself for jeopardizing his master’s plans… but he doesn’t know how much longer he can keep this suppressed.

vanilla will always say he couldn’t possibly list what he loves most about shay—he just doesn’t think it’s anybody’s business.

but… he also knows that if he tried, his list would be far too long.

he loves the way she carries herself; that she’s feisty and ruthless when she needs to be, not taking shit from anyone or ever shying away from a confrontation… but he knows that she’s an incredibly loving and supportive person behind that ‘tough as nails’ façade she wears.

he loves how she treats him, showing him a side of her that nobody else gets to see. she listens to everything he says and remembers the little things he’s only mentioned once in passing, such as how he likes ta’ameya over typical falafel, green olives more than black olives, and his favorite prince album among other things.

he loves that she helped him find himself again in the turbulent grief filled months after the events of stardust crusaders. how she refuses to leave his side on his lowest days, even the days where she has to give him the help and tough love necessary to preventing him from latching onto her like he did with DIO, no matter how much it hurts.

he loves how she’ll listen to him talk about his culture; the bits he was able to experience growing up before his father passed, the bits he experienced while living in cairo, and the bits he wants to experience—even though she understands next to none of the arabic words he says to her.

he loves how she lets him hold her at night, the tender sleepy kisses she gives him every morning, and the way she’ll drape a leg over him whenever they cuddle so she can give him what she calls a “full body hug”.

he loves that she keeps him grounded and treats him like a king, especially on days where he feels like he doesn’t deserve it. she’ll use her stand on him anytime he needs to cry, because she knows he hates it when people hear him like that.

he loves all the little things about her too; the way her swedish comes out whenever she’s spooked or extremely tired, how she’ll just go on and on and on about what interests her, the fact she that she gave him three beautiful kids despite how hard it was on her body… his list goes on.
