Collecting Model Cars

Ever since I was a young kid, in England, I have been fascinated by model cars. I know nothing about how a REAL car works, but model cars were my thing. In those days, Dinky Toys was king. Nearly all of my pocket money went to buy the latest Dinky Jaguar, or Ford Consul, or single decker bus. Gradually other manufacturers came into play, notably Corgi Toys whose models had (gasp!) WINDOWS! So Dinky Toys introduced plastic windows on their cars. 

Then came suspension, and steering. And more and more makers. "Spot-On" was one of my favourites, and much more recently, "Vanguards" which specialized in models of British cars from the 60s and 70s. I was never into Matchbox, nor Hot Wheels. I preferred my models to be 1:43rd scale.

Sadly, over the years, my once massive collection has dwindled to just a few remining Dinky Toys, but since moving to the USA, my collection of diecast cars has grown considerably and I have plenty of Maisto 1/18 scale and 1:43rd by many other makers.
