PREDSJEDNIČKI IZBORI: Počelo skupljanje potpisa kandidata za austrijskog predsjednika. Inicijativa gradišćanskih Hrvata za Van der Bellena

Danas je u Austriji počelo prikupljanje potpisa kandidata za izlazak na izbore za austrijskog predsjednika, koji će se održati 8. listopada. Za kandidaturu je potrebno do 2. rujna prikupiti 6.000 potpisa podrške austrijskih državljana.   Iz Beča piše Snježana Herek:

Piše: Snježana Herek/ Foto: Fenix (Petar Tyran) Aktualni austrijski predsjednik Alexander Van der Bellen (78), koji se kandidira za drugi šestogodišnji mandat, pozvao je Austrijance da ga podrže i daruju mu svoj potpis potpore u njihovoj nadležnoj općini. „Molim vas, podržite me!“, Van der Bellonova je video poruka. Najavio je da će posjetiti svih devet austrijskih pokrajina i građane zamoliti da ga podrže. Osim Van der Bellena svoju kandidaturu za predsjednika države najavila su još četiri kandidata: Walter Rosenkranz, pravnik i političar iz krajnje desne Slobodarske stranke (FPÖ), koji je 2019. godine izabran za pučkog pravobranitelja, Gerald Grosz, kolumnist i autor u medijima, inače bivši političar krajnje desne Slobodarske stranke (FPÖ) i Pokreta za budućnost Austrije (BZÖ), Christoph Brunner, predsjednik MFG stranke (”Austrija-ljudi-sloboda-temeljna prava”), kritične prema cijepljenju protiv koronavirusa, male antivakserske stranke aktivne uglavnom u Gornjoj Austriji, te malo poznati Dominik Wazny alias Maco Pogo, glazbenik, liječnik, kabaretist i predsjednik „Stranke piva“ aktivne samo u Beču. Prema nedjeljnoj anketi austrijskog dnevnog lista “Kurier” sadašnji austrijski predsjednik Van der Bellen ima 63 postotnu naklonost birača, a za Rosenkranza kao predsjednika Austrije je njih 21 posto. Treći je Grosz s 6 posto, a slijede ga Brunner i Wlazny, svaki sa po 5 posto glasova birača. Grosz i Wlazny, kako pišu mediji, računaju na podršku velikog broja njihovih pratitelja na društvenim mrežama. Danas, već prvog dana prikupljanja kandidatskih potpisa bilo je živahno. Potpisi se mole preko društvenih mreža i putem video kanala, održavaju se konferencije za medije i obilaze poklonici. Već su se oglasile i neki građani svojim Inicijativama pružanja podrške. Jedna od njih je i Inicijativa podrške skupine gradišćanskih Hrvata austrijskom predsjedniku Van der Bellenu (VDB) „VDB 2022-Glasovi za VDB“ čiji su potpisnici prof. dr. Rudolf Karazman iz Fileža (Nikitsch), te dr. Gerlinde Stern Pauer i mag. Joško Vlasich iz Velikog Borištofa (Großwarasdorf). „Koliko je važan svaki naš glas pokazali su posljednji izbori. Pokažimo i pri ovim izborima, koliko nam je važan Van der Bellen kao predsjednik“, stoji kao poziv ostalim zainteresiranima za potpis Inicijative. Sličnu Inicijativu potpore Van der Bellenu organizirala je skupina poznatih gradišćanskih Hrvata i 2016. godine, prilikom zadnjih predsjedničkih izbora, pod nazivom „HRVATI/CE ZA VDB-a“. Mystery #19 Kristy and the Missing Fortune: Chapter 12

Ugh, meddling kids.

Well, Dawn and Jessi's plans to freak Kristy out fall flat because, she announces at the start of the chapter, she isn't shocked. She had already read the same stuff in the books at the library, so she already knew. So yes, like we found out earlier, Squirelot is the arboretum.

The mystery has definitely taken a hold of Kristy because for once, she isn't wielding her iron fist of power. Her rule that club business must come first? Yeah, screw that, mystery comes first! And finally, we find out what the hell the damn thing says! “Squirelot. Donated by Ellen, Scott, and Mary Thomas in memory of their grandparents, Rachel and John Thomas, and their aunt, Christina Thomas.”

Mary Anne dreamily imagines Christina wandering through the garden on a warm summer night, wearing a long white gown. Whoa, down girl! Mary Anne's been pretty quiet in this book, she just pops up to fantasize about Christina and her true love from time to time. And oh lordy, Claudia joins in too, but she focuses on the, “And she was out there, plotting where to stash her fortune!” angle rather than “Beautiful Christina, moving like liquid silk through the garden at night in a lovely gown that she filled out quite nicely...”

Dawn, Miss I Love Ghost Stories, is certain the fortune's buried on the arboretum's grounds. And, of course, this leads into more fantasizing about what the girls would buy with allllll that money! And, like everything else they do, it's based on their one single character trait:

Claudia: Art supplies and build herself a studio. And probably buy her own weight in Twix Bars Stacey: Shopping spree in Paris but not with that bitch Laine! Dawn: A private jet so she can go back and forth as much as she wants between California and Connecticut. Yeah, how much fuel does that burn up, Resident Environmentalist? Mallory: A ranch in Montana with stables full of horses. The BSC cheers, thinking they would finally be rid of Mallory! Jessi: She wants a ballet studio next to Mallory's writing studio. What, no founding her own ballet company? Kristy: Mets season tickets and uniforms and equipment for the Krushers. And a brainwashing ray to continue her plans for world domination!

Hey, they left out Mary Anne! I still say she'll buy Cam Geary so she can have two boyfriends and Logan gets his wish for a threeway.

Hold your horses there! Stop thinking about the money (if there is any) and think about your pet project first, ladies! But, like the good little generous teens they are, they agree that any money they find will go to the arboretum. Because none of them are entitled to any of it except maybe Kristy.

Anyway, they put together their three clues: The plaque inscription, the family tree and the photocopy of the letter. They focus on the letter, since Mrs. Abbott mentioned she always thought it contained clues. Cue more *sighs* and “Romance!” from Mary Anne as they re-read it. Ugh, we get it! She's a hopeless romantic and a dreamer, it's turning into overkill, Ellen Miles! Ellen’s the ghostwriter for this book.

Their first guess is the date it was written, February 14th. Valentine's Day! Which means another *sigh*. SHUT UP MARY ANNE! Jessi suggests they check the statue of two people kissing. Claudia writes this down, but since this is Claudia, she writes “Check statchew.” Oh, Claudia. Mallory suggests the birdhouse because of lovebirds, which is reaching, but Claudia writes it down anyway. We're not told how she spells it, but I'm guessing it's “Chekk byrdhowse.” Stacey, looking at the roses on the letter, says they should check the rose bushes too.

The next day, they head off to the arboretum. Mrs. Goldsmith is upset they left a mess last time but Jessi promises they'll clean it up. She also doesn't tell her about what they're doing, so they can surprise her! Ugh, they always do this. They get to the rose garden, and...uh oh. Someone else has been digging there! And it can't be the developers there's small footprints! So either they're men with really small feet or someone else is digging! But Becca and Charlotte are the only other ones who know. They forget this momentarily and start a-diggin! And make an even bigger mess. Mrs. Goldsmith then shows up with Mrs. VanderBellen and they are NOT amused. Meddling kids!
