some things never change
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[ iso x gn!reader ] - when iso sees the omega version of you, he lets himself take pity on you. his soft spot for you ends up being his downfall, leaving you to pick up the pieces for him.
tags: hurt/comfort, descriptions of blood and wounds, iso gets hurt, fluffy tho i promise, mild swearing, mentions of pain meds
notes: requested by anon i’m so sorry this took so long, but i hope you enjoy! it was super fun to write
Tumblr media
lurking with a sniper wasn’t something iso was about to pride himself on, but he was doing it anyway.
the omega-earth agents knew he had a sniper, knew he would be perched in some high-up place, knew he would be watching an angle. so that’s why he wasn’t. he had wandered away from any obvious post he should be watching, opting instead to watch some ridiculous corner. it would catch them off-guard, he hoped.
“dammit— careful in kitchen, iso. lit up your twin good but he didn’t fall. last seen headed towards you.” brimstone’s voice came over the intercom.
“got it.” iso spoke back into his ear piece, voice a whisper.
the area they landed was code named icebox — the name was fit for the cold, snow-ridden biome. however, iso wasn’t outside right now. no, he was tucked into a corner down a hallway, scope of his sniper trained inside of a room that looked like it once served as a kitchen.
true to brim’s word, iso watched as his omega version stumbled in from the outside. limping, he held a hand over his side, blood coating the white material of his jacket. his finger was deadly close to squeezing the trigger when he heard your voice. almost your voice, anyway.
the voice sounded so dangerously close to your own, but it was foreign enough for him to know better. your omega version stumbled in behind him, his name falling off your tongue in a stage whisper.
maybe it was the cold environment. maybe it was the cold biting through his clothes, gnawing at him from the outside, the biting wind that had chapped his skin earlier, that was making it so damn hard for him to pull the trigger right now.
it had to be. it had to be, because if not, it was the way you held him. it was that desperate, shaking need in your voice as you begged omega-earth iso to stay with you. it was that pained look on your face as you held your hand to the wound on omega-iso’s side. it was the blood dripping over the ring on your hand, coloring the metal crimson.
the ring looked scarily accurate to his own.
he had gotten you matching rings for an anniversary a while back. it got in the way of working some times, but he would never admit that to you. you always looked so damn happy when he wore it, and he liked the feeling of having some part of you with him, so he wasn’t about to take it off.
he took a deep breath. he had to pull that trigger. he had to — it wasn’t his you. he knows how he would feel if the tables were turned, but he can’t help it, it’s his job.
before he can pull the trigger, a different loud crack echos through his ears. it takes him a few moments to register the burning hot pain throughout his body, but he’s passed out as soon as he does anyway.
he’s not quite sure how long it’s been when he wakes up again. to him, it felt almost as fast as blinking. he was there, and then everything was black. the first thing he can consciously recognize is your voice, shaky and cracking and clearly distressed, but it sounds almost like an echo, as though it was far away or he was underwater.
the next thing he can recognize is the feeling in his body. scratchy… sheets, maybe? he isn’t entirely sure. he’s trying to open his eyes, but it’s not quite working. the feeling has returned to his body, but the ability to control it hasn’t.
finally, the panic courses through him, and everything comes back all at once.
his eyes snap open and his hands move to the sides of the bed, sitting up. it’s in vain, apparently, as another jolt of pain shoots through his shoulder. he seethes and falls back against the bed.
his eyes snap open again though. almost on instinct, his gaze falls to your face. you look so worried, so concerned. your hands have blood on them and the once flawless ring has the crimson liquid now dried to it. still, you smile softly at him.
“hey…” your voice is quiet and still shaky, but there’s a level of comfort to it that iso can’t quite place. “you’re doing alright. do you remember what happened?”
iso swallows thickly before before giving a shaky almost-laugh. “i imagine i got hit.”
“yeah, that’s pretty accurate.” you reply. worry and sympathy is written clear across your expression. “uhm… look, you’re gonna be fine, but you’ve gotta be on bed rest for a little while.”
iso nods. “yeah… yeah i figured.”
there’s a short period of silence before you finally move. you turn toward the nightstand, where a bottle of water and a small container of pain pills sit. you open the pain pills first, dumping a few of them into your palm and holding your hand out. iso takes them from you.
you uncap the water bottle next. you wait as iso puts the pills in his mouth before you hold the water bottle up to his lips, letting him wash the medication down. you pull the bottle away, capping it again and setting it on the nightstand.
he clears his throat. “i could’ve- i could’ve done that myself, y’know.”
you smile softly at him as he speaks. he could’ve, you know he could’ve. “but you didn’t.”
a small smirk pulls at the corners of his lips. he doesn’t protest anymore, though, and lays his head back down against the pillow. his eyes slip closed for a moment, sleep already calling him again, but he forces himself awake. his body is tired, so so tired.
“you need to rest.” your voice cuts through the painful throb in the back of his head.
his eyes flick over to you. that worried look in your eyes is so, so close to the one that your omega version was giving the omega version of himself. he supposes it makes sense, the scenarios aren’t all that different.
“i know,” he finally responds. he’s uniquely aware of the scratch in his voice. “just… don’t want to quite yet.”
you hum thoughtfully as you move around the room. he’s not sure what you’re doing, but he couldn’t be bothered to sit up and check. a few moments later, you pad back over to his bedside.
“ok, well i need to change your bandages anyway,” your voice is soft still, but he doesn’t miss the worry in it.
“yeah, yeah…” he winces again as he moves to sit up. the pain is still in his shoulder, though he guesses he shouldn’t have assumed the pain meds would work so fast.
you take a deep breath before you move to unwrap the bandages against his shoulder. he doesn’t look down at it quite yet, but he can tell by the way your brows pin that he doesn’t look too good. his muscles are tense and he’s gripping the bed sheet a lot tighter than he’s even consciously aware of.
his breath hitches in his throat as you work, resisting the urge to pull away or tell you to stop. he knows that’s not really an option. he swallow thickly and takes a few more shaking breaths, before you smooth down the last of the bandages. you press a gentle kiss to the top of them when you’re done.
“how’s it look?” he asks as he lays down into the bed again.
you move to comb your hand through his hair almost subconsciously. “looks like a bullet wound.”
he gives you a noise somewhere between a laugh and a scoff. “i figured that much, smartass.” he replies, but his tone is playful.
“it looks fine. not great, obviously, but you’ll be fine.”
he nods, seemingly satisfied with your answer this time. he lays his head back against the pillow, and finally lets his eyes slipped closed again. you didn’t seem as distressed anymore, and he could let himself sleep with that knowledge.

Little Savior - Gekko x Reader
I just love the idea of Gekko's creatures feeling, that there is something between Y/n and him, and them wanting to have your attention, help you or protect you... my heart. God.
Tumblr media
The moment you defused the spike, you finally could let go. Your head felt dizzy, you could feel the gunshot wound burn on your thigh. The team would be there soon, so you sat under the wall, putting pressure on the wound, waiting for some help. Suddenly though, everything started to fade black.
Your eyes opened the moment you felt something poking your thigh, making weird noices. You've noticed it was Gekko's Wingamn.
"H-hey buddy, what are you doing there?" You murmured quietly. This little creature immidiately jumped closer to you, as it heard your voice. He was scratching your chest, as if he was trying to keep you awake.
It wasn't long after that when you've heard Gekko's voice. "Oye! Wingman, found something?" And when he noticed Wingman and you under the wall, he immidiately ran straight to you.
"I got you, it's okay..." He kneeled before you, scanning your whole body. You smiled at him, patting Wingman on it's head. "I'll be fine!"
There was a bit of worry in Gekko's eyes, but he could tell that you'll be fine. He hated to see you in pain, and seeing you there sitting, barely conscious, felt like hell. You were so important to him, he would do anything to have you safe and unharmed all the time. He only didn't know how to say it.
"Come on, let's go patch you up" He said, reaching his hand to you, and you grabbed it. When you stood up though, you faltered forwards, but Gekko has cought you in his arms.
"Easy... easy..." He said. Wingman of course tried to help you stand, by grabbing your ankle. It didn't support you at all, but the view of him trying his best was so adorable"
"Awww" You started, looking at Wingman "He's never done that before, what happened?"
At this question Gekko's face turned a little red. He knew that the creatures could feel his emotions and react to them. They perfectly understood who you were to Gekko, and wanted to support you as they support him.
"Brbrbrb?" It was Dizzy, who showed up behind Gekko's arm.
"She'll be fine guys!" He explained, grabbed you from under your knees to have you on his hands, making sure he avoided any hurt areas. "God, I thought you won't be this heavy."
"Oh, excuse me? I thought you wouldn't be that strong" You teased him.
"Brbbrrbrt?"
"Yes Dizzy!" You both answered, which made both of you giggle. Suddenly though your head felt heavy again, and you didn't even notice making a quiet groan.
"Hey-hey, stay with me there alright? Let's go." Gekko then took you to the rest of the team, where you could get the help you needed from Sage. He held you tight, and you wondered, how come you've never been in his arms before.

Late Night Snacks
Various Valorant characters x Reader
Clove, Cypher, Yoru,
Props to anyone who recognizes this reference.
might do a pt.2 if people are interested
pt.2
Tumblr media
You really needed to fix your sleep schedule. You swear agreeing to that night mission was a terrible idea. Then again, you would likely be in the same situation if you hadn't. Going to bed before the early hours of the morning was just never your thing.
You used to joke about being a creature of the night, but now you were starting to think it was truer than you'd like.
It didn't help that in your endless doom scrolling you had come across a video that left you with an insatiable craving for the perfect snack. So here you were at 4 am, moving as slowly, quietly, and gently as possible through the kitchen trying not to wake anyone.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Clove- Chocolate pudding (romantic)
"Is it burning? I can't tell if it's burning or if I'm just sleep deprived" you whispered to yourself, stirring carefully to decipher if the clumps you felt were burnt pudding or powder you didn't mix well.
"What are you doing?" you dropped your wooden spoon, looking up to see someone staring at you.
"Clove?! What are you doing up?" They gave you a lopsided grin stepping into the kitchen to peer into your pot, "Eh, mostly watching cooking videos. Looks like I can watch the real thing though".
"I'd hardly call this cooking" they give you a look. "What would ya call it then?".
"Ugh... I don't know, something along the lines of making instant noodles or microwaving a hotpocket" you slowly returned to mixing the pot, growing more comfortable with your guest audience.
"The hells a hotpocket?" you immediately dropped your spoon "Oh we are getting you a hotpocket! It's like a calzone but a cheap frozen version that burns the roof of your mouth when you eat it". They laughed, "Sounds terrible, I'm in".
They watched carefully as you poured the chocolate into two separate bowls along with a spoon, "Are ya sure? I don't want to take yer late-night snack... or would it be morning?".
"It's fine, pack made too much for one person anyways" you blew on the spoonful in your hand before taking a bite. "If ya don't mind me asking. Why puddin?" you snorted a little, remembering the meme that had inspired your insomnia plagued kitchen raid.
"Because I've lost control of my life" their eyes shot open before realizing you were joking. "Righty then" they smiled, joining you in eating as you sat on the kitchen counter and ate. Something Brimstone or Sage would no doubt scold you for if they were awake.
You swear the joke about being the 'parents' of the protocol were serious. "You know you should probably get some sleep" If you couldn't save your own sleep schedule, the least you could do would be to save theirs.
"Eh, I'll sleep when I'm dead. Can't say the same for you" you look away embarrassed. It was humiliating enough to be caught in your pjs making pudding because of a meme you saw at 4 in the morning.
"Ya know... I'm usually up pretty late too. If you're havin' a hard time falling asleep. You could always hang out with me in mah room" honestly, that sounded nice.
"I'd like that" you both smiled at each other, accidentally staring too long. Damn in! you looked away quick. That was awkward. It wasn't your fault they were cute. It was definitely the sleep deprivation. Nothing else. No other possible feelings or thoughts. No siree.
"What the hell are you two doing up!? Is that pudding?" A half asleep and grumpy neon walked into the kitchen. "Scatter!" Clove yelled running towards their room, hand wrapped around your wrist dragging you close behind, giggling. Eh, sleep is for the weak.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cypher- Tea & Crackers (Platonic or Romantic)
Lavender. Thats what the internet said the best tea was to help you fall asleep. You had tried everything else, warm milk, hot shower, counting sheep, etc. You looked at the stove's clock and groaned at the painful looking 4 am. You had a mission tomorrow, so you needed as much sleep as you could possibly get. Your brain didn't seem to understand that and fought you every step of the way.
The kettle let out a sharp whistle pulling you from your daze. Shit! Why did you think it was a smart idea to make tea at such an ungodly hour. You quickly moved the kettle off the burner.
You rubbed your eyes with a groan, hoping that didn't wake anyone. A high-pitched whir caught your attention. A camera? It looked like one of Cyphers.
The camera zoomed on your fresh pot before darting to the cup cabinet. "Uh ok" you opened the cabinet grabbing a mug and going to close it, only for the camera to move wildly.
"Oh, I get it" you moved to grab a second mug, pouring two drinks alongside a plate of tea crackers. The camera began to shake up and down, lens zooming and Un-zooming like an excited puppy.
"Ok buddy" you laugh, "Where is he?''. It gave a sharp turn to the left instructing you out of the kitchen, only to see another camera ushering you in another direction. You forgot how many cameras he had. Finally finding yourself in a shipping container on base you knocked lightly, "Come in".
"Ah" Cypher let out a pleased hum swiveling in his chair to face you, the army of monitors illuminating the room. You yawned, handing over the warm cup into his greedy hands. "ohoho" he chuckled to himself, "Now this is just the treat I needed. Too bad it's decaf".
"Why are you still up Cypher?" you asked through blurry eyes. "I could ask the same of you my dear" he turns back to his monitors, fidgeting with what you could only guess was lens sensitivity? You've owned maybe one camera in your life.
"Suffering" is said bluntly, followed by a long sip of tea. Why wasn't this working. "Hmm" He looked away from his screens to give you a once over that made you a little self-conscious, given your messy and sleep deprived state. He stood up before ushering you to sit in his chair, "What are you doing?".
"Just giving a helping hand" reaching under his desk he pulled out a blanket, too thin for your liking but it got the job done in covering you. Something told you it wasn't used often enough.
"I don't think-" he cut you off before exiting the crate, "Just sit down". From your seat you could watch him take the same path you did through the cameras to the kitchen, pouring another mug with the last of the hot water and making his way back.
"Lavender is good. Buuut, chamomile is better" the warm cup was swapped for the fresh new one. "What are you doing?" you take a cautious sip as he changes his monitors.
"Just a little trick I used to do with my- ...... Someone I used to know", well that was cryptic. The light sound of crashing waves surrounded you as white noise played from the screens surrounding you. With a light pressure Cypher rocked the chair.
"Really? Now I'm a baby?" it wasn't really insulting, but you had to admit it made you feel a bit childish. "There's a reason it works on them. Don't you think?" you had to admit, your eyes were starting to feel heavy, the soft padding on the chair was heavenly. It must have costed a ton, either that or he definitely stole it from Brim's office. Probably the latter.
In a matter of minutes your mind couldn't fend off the urge to rest, and you slipped into unconsciousness with relative ease. Cypher watched over you for a moment, making sure you were fully asleep before stopping his motions.
Just like he remembered, first they're fussy and then they're out. It hurt a bit, if he was being honest. But it also felt...good. Like it was healing a part of him. The part of him he lost with his family.
Nothing could ever replace them, he knew that. But that didn't mean he couldn't move forward. And if helping you sleep did that, you could stay on his chair every night. He'd just need to buy some more chamomile the next time he went out
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yoru- Instant Ramen
You were definitely going to go deaf at some point with how loud you blasted music. But hey, you were using headphones, so it wasn't like you were going to wake anyone up with your tracks.
Besides, this was your perfect ritual. Finish training at 5, play video games with Gekko till 7, shower, play on your switch till 9, play on your PC till 12, Listen to music and read till 2, then your pièce de résistance, post-midnight snack. It would be more appropriate to call it a late dinner... or early breakfast. Considering you didn't eat with the others, too busy with animal crossing.
Tonight's late-night snack comprised of your favorite instant noodles and a single egg. Depressing at face value, delicious at stomach value. Nutrition value? Zero.
Not like you cared though. All the hallmarks of the perfect youth, unhealthy food, video games, staying up all night, and ruining your ear drums.
So here you were, making noodles at nearly 3 in the morning while you danced in your oversized pj's that were totally not covered in pizza stains.
As you went to spin you unfortunately turned to see a very irritated looking Yoru staring back at you.... Ok, so maybe you should start turning your music down.
"The hell are you doing?" he asked as you slowly pulled off your headphones. "Noodles" was all you could say when he pushed past you to look into your pot, lightly shoulder checking you.
"This is sad" he huffs, shaking his head before walking over to the fridge. "I'll have you know I am anything but sad when I eat this" he rolled his eyes, pulling out a container of leftovers from a previous dinner along with some seaweed and a brown looking container.
"What are you doing?" you leaned over his shoulder as he started to move the boiling water into a larger bowl. "Showing you what real food is" he snapped.
"Geeze. Alright, grumpy" you put your hands up and hopped up onto the counter, only making his brows furrow deeper, "I take it you're making some for you too?".
"Damn right. Like I'd go through all this trouble for you" he scooped a portion of the brown.... goop? into the pot. "Put your lazy ass to use and pull this meat off the bone" he slid the container of Brim's leftover ribs towards you.
"Don't you think he'll eat these later?" he laughed. "Like I care. Old man has a minifridge in his office, that's where the good shit is. He probably forgot about those already" you shrugged, tearing the fat and meat off and placing it into the container.
You and Yoru didn't interact much one on one. you would join group smash bro tournaments and do missions together but other than that your interactions were limited.
"...Soooooo, what are you doing up?" you tried to fill the silence now that your music was gone. "Fixing my sleep schedule. Something you should be doing" you hummed, not quite agreeing, too focused on the way he carefully cut the seaweed into strips.
"No thank you, I'll stick to my routine" he gave you a look, "4 hours of sleep and shitty packet foods?".
"Well when you say it like that of course it sounds bad" you huff a laugh. A light splatter sounded as he dropped the dry noodles into the boiling broth.
"You don't add the noodles before the flavoring?" A look of disgust spread across his face as he threw the intact flavor packet at your face.
"None of that prepackaged chemical shit!" you rubbed your forehead lightly, sliding the packet into your pocket for future use, "Throw that away!".
"That's wasteful" you argued, making him grumble. "Open" he held a spoon of broth in front of you. Curiously you leaned into drink, ignoring the awkwardness of him feeding you, "Holy shit! That's good".
He turned back to the pot, sliding in the meat, "That is why you don't use that instant crap. Miso and dashi. Even an idiot like you can figure it out ". You frowned, only for a shot while as you saw him break up the ramen into bowls, topped with eggs and nori.
Handing you the bowl, you paused when he didn't release it. "No more fake shit?" it was more of a statement than a question, but if it meant you could eat the heavenly smelling bowl in front of you, then you would swear off instant noodles for the rest of your life. "No more fake shit" you nod with a smile, and he releases his grip.
Yoru watches as you scarf down all of his hard work like a ravenous animal. That was a lie, it wasn't hard work. Which made your inability to do it yourself all the more concerning. He knew you weren't going to fix your sleep schedule any time soon.
Maybe he could hold off fixing his for a few more days. No doubt your little promise would be out the window if he left you to yourself.
Some one-on-one time wouldn't be the end of the world.
AUTUMN SUN
•. Sova x gn!Reader
Tumblr media
tags: fluff, hurt/comfort, oneshot
cw: slightly suggestive (?)
summary: After you've felt down for the past few days and now refuse to come out of your room, Sova decides to try to help you with your struggles
a/n: I've pretty much read every single Sova story on here so I needed to make my own because I'm starving qwq This story was also written with a fem!reader in mind but turned out to be gender neutral so I changed the tag after someone told me in the comments <3
Words: 1,5k
Tumblr media
Your room was lit up by the soft evening light of the autumn sun. It wrapped everything in its soft, orange glow; everything except that heart of yours which was dyed in black. Truth was, you haven't been feeling great at all lately. You were so used to it that you didn't care anymore. Was there a particular reason why these feelings were stirring up inside of you? You couldn't tell anymore.
"(Y/N)?" you heard from behind the door. A voice so gentle and soft that it felt more like a melody; a melancholic melody as you acknowledged the concerned tone in his voice. You knew that you could just send him away, out of everyone in the Protocol he was by far the most respectful one and he would do as you say immediately. But you were longing for affection and comfort. So, despite immediately regretting your decision, you let him in.
Sova was the kind of person whose mere presence was enough to change the mood of the entire room. Whenever he was standing next to Brimstone during meetings his deadly calm aura would send shivers down your spine. And yet, he was by far one of the most caring people you've ever met in your life. He would commonly check up on everyone in the Protocol, and maybe that's why you didn't like him: because he was not only paying attention to you.
He walked over to your bed, and as you expected him to sit down on your bed and ask you if you wanted to talk to him he bent over the top part of your blanket and pulled it down until he could see your eyes. His smile was warm as always. "Sasha…" While checking the temperature on your forehead with his hand he made sure to keep eye contact with you. "I don't want to ask if you're okay 'cause… I mean it's pretty obvious that you're not fine." He took a step back from your bed, tilting his head a little bit while asking you silently with his eyes if you wanted him to leave or to stay. You felt tears rolling down your eyes as you visualized how the conversations might go with him and yet you still nodded, begging him to not leave you alone.
"Any space for me?" he asked and gave you another heartfelt smile. You knew that he was thanking you for trusting him and accepting his offer. After moving to the left side of the bed, you invited him to lie down next to you. He happily obliged.
You stayed quiet for some time and the awkward silence grew between you two. You didn't know what to say, you didn't know how to put this misery of yours into words, you didn't know how to start. And he could tell, especially since you didn't make any effort to hide your struggle. He placed his hand on your cheek and moved a little closer to you. "Deep breaths, Y/N." It still felt weird nowadays when people called you by your actual name and not your codename even though you and Sasha were always doing it when you were alone. "Take your time, I will wait for you."
Tears started to roll down your face. The comfort he gave you made you tear up as you were able to release the sorrow within you. "Sasha…" you cried out, wanting to thank him but not being able to properly produce a sentence between your sobs. He wrapped his arms around you and pulled you closer to him. You placed your head carefully on his chest and calmed yourself down by listening to his heartbeat. While your tears slowly started to get less and less, Sasha placed his right hand on your head and slowly stroked over your hair.
"Is it really okay if I tell you about it?" you asked carefully without looking into his eyes out of shame. "I don't want to burden you with anything." Sova stopped his hand and moved it up to your chin. Gently, he shifted your head up so he could look into your eyes. "You're never a burden to me, darling." He leaned forward and placed a soft kiss on your cheek. The spot where he had laid his lips on your skin still felt comfortably warm and you wished that he would continue kissing you.
Tears rolled down your face once more as you told Sasha about everything that was bothering you recently. How you were always there for anybody and it felt like nobody had your back, how you felt like your friends were bonding over experiences you couldn't share, how the stress was getting to you physically and emotionally. During all of this, he stayed mostly silent and just let you talk about anything that you needed to get off your chest. He commented from time to time on your statements or he turned around to hand you a tissue from your nightstand.
"So I feel like I'm falling behind, you know? I just… don't want to be an outcast." Sova brushed the tears off your face with his fingers. "I understand," he said calmly, his hand still resting on your cheek. You suppressed the last few tears and smiled at the man next to you. "Thank you for being here, Sasha. And for… well, listening to my stuff," you mumbled with your voice still trembling. "I think I'm done now."
The man ran his fingers down your cheeks until his hands reached the back of your neck. He pulled you even closer until you could feel his breath on your lips. "I will always be there for you, (Y/N). And I will always listen to you and your struggles." Before you could reply, he had pressed his lips onto yours. You could taste his favorite tea through the kiss, as well as the passion he was holding for you. Your hand wrapped around his waist, pulling him even closer than he already was. The warmth of his presence made you feel so very much at ease that the last few painful tears ran down your face. Sasha quickly brushed them off your cheeks before pulling you on top of him.
You didn't expect such a sudden move from him and since he is pretty strong he had no problems placing you exactly where he wanted to. He grinned as he watched your flustered expression. His hands moved under your clothes but before he did anything else he looked at you. Your face was still a little red. "Do you want me to continue?" You felt how your heart picked up pace after hearing his words and you nodded quickly. You didn't want him to stop, under no circumstances. "Tell me if I'm going too far," he whispered into your ear before kissing your neck. His fingers ran down your sides, every movement making you feel better and better. Sova made sure to not come too close to your private parts and it made you feel comfortable knowing that he was so respectful of your boundaries. Your arms were still placed around his waist but you didn't want to move since everything was too perfect right now. He continued kissing your neck down to your shoulder and you just enjoyed it, taking in all those feelings that stirred up inside of you.
"Finally feeling better?" he asked as he pulled far enough away from you to properly keep up eye contact. His hands had stopped moving and he was now holding you in place; gently, yet somewhat protective. You just smiled happily. "Thank you for cheering me up, Sasha!" You firmly wrapped your arms around his hand and pressed your body against his with your head resting on his shoulders. He loosened his grip so you could move more freely. "I told you that I'm always here for you, my love." Sova looked outside the window, the autumn sun was about to fully fade away behind the trees. When his gaze had wandered back to you, he smiled warmly and gave you a quick kiss. "Because I love you, Y/N." You returned his soft smile and words of affirmation.
Sova stood up from your bed and reached his hand out for you. "What do you say, love? Wanna go outside and enjoy the rest of this beautiful evening?" A red blush hushed over your cheeks, flattered by his request despite everything that had happened earlier. You cherished that he wanted to spend that much time with you. By taking his hand you lifted yourself from your bed into the man's arms. "You're so cute, love~" he whispered into your ear. You passionately kissed him as a response to which he happily obliged. "I love you, Sasha," you told him after your kiss had ended and he had let go of you. He laughed softly and wrapped his left arm around your shoulder. "I love you just as much."
alone (chamber x reader) (hurt/comfort)
a/n: im writing this in a super bad episode, if it sucks im sorry. i just need some sort of comfort right now and with this i can pretend i have someone who cares about me. i can pretend that someone actually notices that i am hurting.
tw: sh (hitting self, nothing gorey), severe depression, depressive episodes
Tumblr media
when chamber returned to your shared living space, he was not expecting to be greeted to the suffocating silence surrounding the house.
"mon ange? are you here?" he called out but recieved nothing back. had you gone out on a mission?
he set down his items on a counter nearby and approached the bedroom. as he got closer he heard the small sounds of shuffling. when he sat right outsid ghe door, he heard the shaky heavy breathing on the other side just barely audible.
he frowns and worry crosses his face, he knocks on the door immediately.
"darling...? what's wrong? can you please let me in..?"
when you open the door, he lets out a soft gasp as he takes in your appearence. tear stains are present and running down your face from your exhausted dark eyes, just behind you he can see a bunch of little items thrown around as if an animal had ran through the room. he looked around before noticing the soft purple bruises forming on your arms. he nearly started crying then and there.
"mon dieu..what happened mon couer?" he says quietly as if he were trying not to spook you. as he takes in the state of you and the room, you begin crying harder. you messed up HIS space...he is going to be so mad...heisgoingtoleavemeand-
you feel two hands on your shoulders attemptijg to ground you. "hey hey...listen can you follow my breathing for me love?" he says as he pulls you into his chest so you can hear his breathing.
as you mimic his breathing, he softly praises you. "good job...thats it. i'm so proud.."
the only sound in the room is the two of you's soft breathing with the occasional sniffle. he loving rubs your back as he whispers softly into your hair.
"do you feel any better now dear?" when he feels your slow nod into his shoulder he smiles and hugs you tighter.
when you pull away from him, his rests hos hand on your cheek and slowly caresses his thumb over it.
"..do you want to talk about it..? it's alright if not. just tell me what you need."
"i just...why can't i be good at anything...? you have your gun designs...i just have nothing i am good at. i can't draw, or fight, or even be good at video games.."
"oh dear...i'm sorry you feel like that...i promise you that your "thing" will come soon alright? you don't have to be perfect for me or anyone else. now, can i ask where the bruises came from...? ....did you do that?"
seeing you shakily nod is all he needs before he grabs your arm and kisses it softly
"oh honey...why? you need to be careful. i love you so much ok? if you ever feel like this again please call me..i don't want you to suffer through this alone.." he says in a shaky tone you have never heard before. he sound...scared. observing the room around him, he can tell in your throwing match with the random trinkets that you had hit yourself on various items..his heart nearly shattered. when he hears you small muffled apology, he sighs.
"you have no need to be sorry, i am simply happy you are safe...now, what can we do to get this off your mind hm? would you like to watch that new show you told me about?" he said as he gave you a caring gaze.
the rest of the night was spent cuddling on the bed, you quickly fell asleep feeling drained from the stress. when you woke up, the room was tidy and you were pressed gently into his bare chest as he rubbed your back and let out soft breaths into your hair.
"you are not alone anymore mon amour. please, if you need lean on me. i will support you."
The villain you asked for
AO3 Link
Viper didn’t consider herself a violent person, much less a vengeful one.
She did what was needed, no more, no less.
But when you were found between life and death in Omega Earth’s territory…
Well, she couldn’t let that fly, could she ?
They were all going to pay for their cruelty.
---
You had a habit of answering messages and calls quickly, never leaving them on read or missing calls.
Especially when it concerned Viper.
You and her always put priority in each other whenever there was a call, knowing full well that you were both busy bees.
You especially, never answered a message past one hour after it was received, always holding on to your phone.
You were always anxious whenever it wasn’t near you or in your possession.
The scientist knew that, and that was why she couldn’t shake off this uneasy feeling about you not answering for a whole twelve hours.
Of course, she was worried past the first hour already, but she tried to reason herself.
To justify your silence.
You were probably busy and didn’t find the time to answer them.
Or you were away from your phone – not the first time it had happened.
You generally didn’t text during missions, as well.
You both knew that it would be dangerous to distract the other in a life or death situation.
The fact that you were dispatched on Omega earth would’ve been enough of a reason for Viper’s nerves to calm down.
But when the entire team but you went back to HQ…
She didn’t know what to think.
Maybe you were out and about to buy her a gift ?
You would often do that after missions abroad, knowing very well that gift giving was one of the scientist’s primary love languages.
She adored that about you, how attentive you were to her.
How much effort you would put into making her happy.
So, she decided to message you.
From : Venom ♡
Don’t come back too late. You don’t want to wake up the whole HQ with your heavy footsteps.
She liked poking fun at you.
Viper knew that you understood her way of showcasing love.
She waited for an answer, a reaction, anything.
Seconds turned into minutes…
… And minutes turned into hours.
It was now the evening, and the founder hasn’t heard from you since that same morning.
She was silently panicking, pacing inside of her office, trying to come up with anything to justify your absence or lack of communications.
Alarms were blaring in her head.
After another while of walking around in circles, she finally stopped.
She knew you were in trouble.
She didn’t know why nobody made any comments about your lack of presence, and it made her even more distressed.
Time to take matters into her own hands.
She called into her office the team that was dispatched with you.
Neon, Reyna, Gekko and Omen all entered the room hesitantly.
“Sit down, all of you,” The scientist ordered, and they all did as told. “Now, I want answers,” She continued, then said your name. “Where are they ?” She asked, slowly.
The room fell silent.
Neon and Gekko bit their lips, while Reyna was holding her gaze.
Omen was the one to speak.
“They took them,” He answered calmly.
She saw red.
“And you didn’t think to tell me ?” She said, feeling her face heat up with anger.
“We wanted to tell you, but Brimstone asked us not to,” Replied Neon, still not meeting her eyes.
“Coordinates, now.” She barked, and Reyna was quick to give her your last known location.
Viper didn’t even take the time to dismiss all of them before she left, only to go to her private area and gear up for a rescue mission.
“Viper,” Called out Brimstone. She didn’t even turn around as she was putting on her suit. “We’ll go tomorrow, get a proper team ready with all the information needed,” Her colleague continued, desperately trying to convince her.
There was no use, however.
The only answer that she gave as she put on her mask was a glare, cold but filled with anger.
“Out of my way,” She said as she bumped shoulders with the ex-K-Sec agent.
“If you go, I’m going, too,” He announced as he turned around.
“You’ll slow me down,” She replied, refusing the offer.
“Viper, think about this for more than a minute. You’re going into enemy and unknown territory, and you want to be alone ?” She paused. “You’ll die before you can get to them.”
“I give you 30 minutes.”
That was all that was said.
Soon, a small team was made.
Cypher and Reyna volunteered, while Brimstone insisted on being there to help.
Once everyone was ready, they went through the portal leading up to Omega Earth, as close as they could be to your last known coordinates.
It always felt weird to go into the mirror version of their reality.
Everything was so different, and the lack of Radianite in the air was palpable.
It didn’t stop Viper from pressing forward without hesitation, however.
Cypher guided them through the sleeping streets, oftentimes stopping to double check the information he possessed.
Nobody had ventured that far out, after all.
The scientist was surprised – but mostly weary – of the fact that nobody intercepted them yet.
Not even civilians walking late at night.
While walking, she was trying her best to look for clues as to what exactly happened.
But it felt like the streets were swept clean after the intervention.
She could tell that Reyna was disturbed as well, her eyes lingering on certain walls or on the ground.
There were no indications of gunfights.
No evidence of what might’ve happened.
It left a bad feeling in her stomach.
“We’re here,” Declared Cypher, looking around for any indication of where you might’ve gone next.
Willingly or forcefully.
It was a four-way street, and the right direction could be anybody’s guess.
Viper suddenly had an idea.
“Reyna, check your comms,” She ordered, and the empress did as told.
Calling out your name numerous times, she tried her best to establish a connection with you.
She could tell the radiant was about to give up when she perked up.
The scientist felt hope in her heart.
It died when Reyna furrowed her eyebrows.
Brimstone was about to speak up, but both women only glared at him, and it was enough for him to shut his mouth.
“I need something to write down on,” The duelist announced, and the sole sentinel gave her a notepad.
Jotting things down furiously, she looked at it for a moment.
Saying your name, she reassured :
“We’re coming to get you.”
“Speak,” The scientist ordered, looking at her expectantly.
“I know where they are,” She replied as she handed the device back to Cypher.
“Let’s not wait any more time,” Viper replied. “Lead the way,” She announced, looking expectantly at their guide.
Nodding, he took the lead, everyone following his footsteps.
Soon, they were in front of a warehouse.
Her eyes twitched.
“Cypher,” And it was all that she needed to say before he got to work.
They had to wait under cover for a little while, but he managed to get a rough blueprint of the area.
Preparing a plan of action on the fly, they nodded once they came to an agreement.
As everyone got into position, the only thing she could think about was you.
Were you safe ?
Were you hurt ?
Did you come here willingly or did they force you ?
Shaking her head, she knew everything would be answered in due time.
They forcefully entered the warehouse, and stepped into the territory as quietly as they could.
She didn’t know what she expected.
Pillars and shelves of objects that reached the ceiling, probably.
Not something resembling an apartment building.
The uneasiness in her guts only grew at the sight.
This didn’t look abandoned, much less empty.
Just who was using this place ?
And to what goals ?
As some Atlas agents came into her vision, she knew that they were in the right place.
The best plan of action would be to stay unnoticed, and so they did, quietly eliminating the agents that they couldn't get around with.
They continued exploring the area, entering each and every room, Viper growing silently more agitated as time went on.
She was worried about your mental and physical state.
She hoped she wouldn't be too late.
… Please anything but that.
Shaking her head, she took down the Atlas agent next to her, grabbing his body to gently let him fall to the ground.
Then, she noticed a room which was more heavily guarded than the other ones, and quite obviously so.
Gesturing to her teammates, they soon saw what she was referring to.
Nodding to each other, they got into formation silently.
Quietly killing the guards, they all entered the room carefully, expecting the worst.
Viper’s eyes laid on your figure, hanging from the ceiling by the wrists, your body beaten up so much that even in the dim light, she could see just how much they’ve hurt you.
You barely acknowledged their entrance, if at all.
She could feel her blood starting to boil.
Slowly calling out your name as she approached you, she could faintly see your head moving upwards, trying to meet her concerned gaze.
You tried to speak, but all you could muster were whimpers and coughs.
Gently shushing you, she decided to ask a couple of simple questions.
“Did the Atlas agents do this to you ?”
You shook your head weakly.
“Was it the mirror agents ?”
As you slowly nodded, the scientist gritted her teeth.
“Brimstone, Cypher, take care of them. Reyna, cover them,” She ordered, studying your injuries.
Engraving them in her mind.
“What about you ?” Asked Brimstone, arching an eyebrow.
“I’ll make sure that they wouldn’t be able to tell the tale,” She answered flatly, feeling a sadistic smirk creeping on her lips.
“There’s no use, we need to go. We secured them, and they need to be taken care of now,” Her colleague said.
“That’s why you’ll be taking care of that,” She replied, glancing at him from the corner of her eyes.
“Viper, revenge won’t fix what happened,” Cypher continued, bitterness clear in his tone.
Switching her gaze to look right at him, the sentinel must’ve seen something in her eyes that shut him up.
“But there will be no stopping you, will there ?” He observed, his tone unreadable.
She didn’t feel the need to answer as she walked out of the room, glancing at you one last time.
“I’ll make them pay,” She whispered this promise to you, knowing full well you wouldn’t be able to hear her.
Alarms started blaring, resonating against the walls, and they all knew that the enemy was now fully aware of their presence.
As the first Atlas agents came into her vision, she was quick to execute them to clear a path for the rest of the team to take you to safety.
As time went on, more and more agents tried to neutralise her, but all of their attempts were unsuccessful.
She had already locked down her area with her poison cloud and toxic screen.
There was no getting past her.
When the Atlas scum were isolated, she took her time to suffocate and kill them, making them suffer every last seconds of their pitiful lives.
Viper was aware of how wrong it was, she admitted to herself as she poisoned the ground when she heard a swarm of them.
How illegal and immoral she was to use her technology and especially to make the enemy suffer more than they had to.
Even as she heard their screams and cry for help, she didn’t care.
She was going to make them pay for what they’ve done, regardless of their begging.
She noticed that the Atlas agents were now growing lesser in numbers.
But she could hear the familiar footsteps of Phoenix, but she knew it wasn’t her version.
Her suspicions were confirmed when she heard him speak :
“You’re really having fun, aren’t you ?” He observed, his tone teasing.
Not letting her guard down, she waited silently for him to go past her toxins.
Her internal alarms indicated to her that she was running low on fuel.
Just a bit longer…
“I wonder, what will they think when they’ll hear about you trying to act as a hero, and failing miserably ?”
As the last words were spoken, she got blinded by the mirror agent’s flash and her defences – both herself and abilities – went down.
Ducking into cover, a couple of bullets scraped her, making her wince.
She noticed that they weren’t alone.
Out of the corner of her eyes, she could see Sova’s silhouette as well as Breach’s, weapon ready.
“Don’t. Get. In. My. Way,” She announced through gritted teeth, engaging Viper’s Pit.
She changed positions as her area of action grew, and she was quick to shoot the Reckon Dart before it revealed her position.
Silently avoiding Breach’s Fault Line, she kept turning around to make sure that she wasn’t getting backstabbed or backshot.
He was also the first one she spotted, and she quickly whipped her weapon around to shoot him.
Missing most of her shots, she had to run to another spot as his allies were trying to protect him with suppressive fire.
Getting next to Sova, who hasn’t noticed her as of yet, Viper decided to sneak up behind him, switching to her knife.
“Goodbye,” She whispered in his ear before cutting his throat open.
He gurgled and choked on his own blood before falling to the ground as she disappeared into her toxins once again.
“Sova ? Sova, do you copy ?” She could hear Phoenix’s call to his now dead ally.
He was too distracted to notice her and she shot him right in the head.
All that was left was now the ex-gangster.
“Y’know, they were a really good punching bag,” He announced, and she whipped her body around to see no-one.
Her anger was now way more intense as she understood that he was behind your suffering.
Your state.
She wasn’t even sure that you’d be making it out alive.
“A bit quiet for my liking, but I enjoyed hearing them in pain,” He continued, and Viper heard him cackle.
She knew what he was trying to do.
She admitted that it was working.
Her anger and adrenaline made her jittery and trigger-happy, turning around at the slightest sound and shooting.
She knew she was running out of bullets.
She noticed the Aftershock barely in time to avoid it, her back burning with third degree burn injuries.
She groaned.
She saw him running towards her out of the corner of her eyes, and she switched to hand to hand fighting, tackling him to the ground and pulling her knife out.
She may not be as ripped as he was, but she certainly had the technique and knowledge to gain the upper hand.
And so she did.
Now on top of Breach and strangling him, she asked :
“Any last words ?”
He didn’t even hesitate.
“You won’t be able to save them,” He wheezed, a distasteful smirk on his lips.
Breaking the viper’s bite container, she forcefully opened his jaw and let it drip down into his mouth.
She watched as his struggling grew weaker and weaker, as his eyes turning red, as he started to gurgle his own blood.
It was her turn to smirk.
Now that the enemies were taken care of, and that her anger had melted away, all she could feel was worry and panic.
Abandoning her ultimate, she ran towards the exit, trying her best to catch up to her allies.
Finding her way back was easier now that there was a trail of blood – your blood – indicating where you went.
She could feel her stomach churn with concern for your health as she could see just how much blood loss you were experiencing.
Soon, she managed to see her teammate’s silhouette, patiently waiting at the portal.
Noticing her as well, they all studied her injuries and state, concern clear in their demeanour.
“We can go,” She announced, her eyes resting on your unconscious figure.
She didn’t even have time to ask before Brimstone, who was holding you, announced :
“They’re alive, but we’ll need both Sage and Skye on their case. Let’s not waste any more time,” And they all went through the teleporter, emerging in the headquarters.
He rushed to the infirmary, Viper hot on his trail.
She called out Sage and caught Skye’s attention, and they were quick to tend to you.
She was uttered out of the room, and she could finally let herself relax just a bit.
She knew you were in good hands, and she just hoped they weren’t too late.
The next few days, she barely managed to get some shut eye.
The emptiness in her bed that you created made her mad with worry.
Your lack of presence in her routine threw her off.
So, she threw herself into her work, not being able to stand her own thoughts.
After a week, a knock was heard on her office’s door.
She wasn’t really paying attention until she noticed that it was Sage that entered the room.
Standing up immediately, she opened her mouth but the agent spoke before she could say anything :
“The recovery will be long, they sustained a lot of injuries and a lot of bleeding, both external and internal-” She started, but the scientist cut her off.
“How are they ?”
“Stable and conscious,” She smiled at her, and she could feel the tension in her shoulders evaporate as she breathed out a sigh of relief.
Sage continued to speak, but Viper wasn’t interested anymore.
“Can I see them ?”
“Yes,” She announced, and she didn’t waste any more time in the conversation, rushing towards the infirmary.
When she entered the room and met your gaze, she could feel all the worry disappear only to leave the exhaustion from the past week.
“You look tired,” You observed with a hoarse voice.
She walked up to your bed and sat down next to your body, a gentle smile appearing on her lips.
“That’s because I am,” She replied.
You took the hand that was resting on the bed into yours, before putting it on your cheek.
As she gently rubbed her thumb against your cheekbone, you leaned into her touch.
“I’ve missed you,” You say, sleepily.
“I’ve missed you too,” Viper retorted as you snuggled closer to her.
Did somebody tell you what had happened that day ?
How much anger she felt and how sadistic she was ?
… Thinking about it, chances were nobody told you.
But you knew her.
You were aware of what she has done, even if only a little idea.
Maybe she’d tell you, one day.
But not today.
Right now, she just wanted to spend quality time with you and not think about this horrible day.
Twilight stalked the cold, swirling mountainside for his prey.
He endured the blinding snowstorm, the numbness that’d overtaken his hands, and the many attempted ambushes--in an effort to right a terrible, terrible wrong. He couldn’t peer through the dense fog of the storm, not with his eyes of man.
He was stumbling into oblivion, and he would return.
Again, and again.
It’d been sometime since he’d felt this compelled to act, to stray from the path of his responsibilities and take on a grievance of his own. He’d decided to stray from the group during the dead of night, after they’d all left to attend to their own duties, or head to their beddings.
They’d followed the shadow northward, chasing it across miles of screaming dark and echoing wilderness. They’d traveled beyond the borders of their hyrules, most of them anyway, and arrived at the base of a swirling mountain--a frozen monument of ice and rock and snow.
During their pursuit, they came across a village under fire. They were lucky to arrive when they did, as the last of the town’s guards had fallen victim to the serrated teeth, and monstrous blades of their attackers. Twilight saw to avenge the dead among the townspeople, as did the rest of his brothers.
Not a single soul died under their watch.
Twilight only wished they’d arrived sooner.
In the aftermath, Twilight did what he could to comfort the survivors. It was with the greatest sorrows that he paid his respects. Grief was a wound without end, a void that consumed all in the heart that once held love. The villagers reminded him of his family in Ordon, from the close-knit nature of their community, to the fact they were a town on the edges of Hyrule's borders--far away from the eyes of the crown.
There was one woman, in particular, that drove the familiar feeling home.
She was a mother, expecting her second child. They’d met during the attack, his first words to her being an order to stay behind him. He’d tried to meet her on calmer footing, following the battle, trying to see if he could help in some way. Twilight found the woman in her cabin--what was left of it, given that the roof was half caved in--sobbing breathlessly into the splintered remains of her couch.
The woman (Sariah, her name was) had lost everything in the attack. In a matter of hours, her entire world, and reasons for continuing on were taken from her. Sariah didn’t know Twilight, nor did Twilight know her, yet it was in their sparse connection that she was comfortable exalting the untold stresses of what just occurred. She put images of Uli in Twilight’s mind, her adoration and love for her family shining through the black clouds of her grief.
Sariah’s husband had enlisted in the village guard, a competent swordsman--like Rusl, ready to protect his home by any measure. And by any measure he did, as he was one of the first slain. Photographs of him and Sariah littered the walls of the house, preserved moments of better days.
Her son, a boy of a mere nine years, was taken soon after Twilight and the others intervened--one of the monster’s captives, to be presumably dragged back to their camp and devoured. The idea made Twilight’s blood run cold, and his teeth grit like colliding glaciers.
It was a bitter, repulsed rage, the type that screamed at him to act--to right this wrong, to avenge this travesty. Twilight thought of what he’d do if Rusl had died, and Uli was left alone in the world, unable to even have a proper funeral for her son.
He was almost unable to fathom the level of anger it’d summon, the shaking, primal desire to meet those responsible with the edge of his blade. He was supposed to protect people, meant to stop these injustices before they happened. It brought a haze of guilt and frustration that clogged his senses.
He knew one thing, however.
This could not go unpunished.
Twilight swore to Sariah then that he’d find her son, vowing to give her some semblance of closure--and left the cabin.
It’d been some time since he’d driven himself into abandon, not since he’d rushed to save Colin from King Bublin, leaving a slew of corpses in he and Epona’s wake. He was more afraid for Colin’s life than anything else, but the feeling of protective retribution was very much present.
And now he was on the edge of a frozen cliffside, overlooking the warm fires of the monster’s camp below.
He held the grip of his sword tight, until his knuckles were as white as the snow around him. There were moments that he wondered if there was more to his curse than the transformation of his wolf form, and the markings that adorned his head. When he looked upon packs of monsters, staring into their feral, savage eyes--and saw nothing but prey deserving of culling-- was that truly him?
When he drove his steel into the jugular of an unsuspecting moblin, taking hidden satisfaction in knowing that his loved ones are safer, letting the desire to protect the innocent shatter bones like glass and pulverize skulls-- was he still the same man as he once was?
Twilight gathered himself, reaching for his item pou-
“So, what’s the plan?”
He whipped around to meet the voice, his sword following in tow. It’s tip landed an inch away from the neck of the visitor, the realization quickly turning Twilight’s vigilance to irritation.
It was the Captain, of course.
“Why are you here?” Twilight said, unintended venom coating his words.
Valor didn’t flinch at his near decapitation, nor Twilight’s attitude. He was strangely collected, considering the situation.
“Why do you think?” Valor countered.
Twilight sighed, the thought of a disappointed mentor weighing on his shoulders.
“He sent you, I assume? Should’ve expected it’d be harder to slip by him.”
“Oh, get a grip. I’m here on my own, I figure someone who moonlights as a pack animal would understand why going it alone is a bad idea.” Valor said.
“I appreciate you looking out for me, but I think I can handle a few bokoblins.” Twilight huffed, frustrated that he was even having this conversation.
Valor opened his mouth to retort, and then hesitated, softening his tone and expression ever so slightly.
“Look, I get it-- You want to shoulder this responsibility alone, that is something personal.”
“You don’t kno-”
“I talked to Sariah, after you left her cabin. I’m not blind, I can put two and two together.”
A silence followed, and both men stared at each other, uncaring of the blistering winds whirling around them.
“...So you know why I’m doing this.”
Valor nodded.
“You aren’t wrong to do this, any of us would do the same. I thought you’d understand that” Valor said, a twinge of regret bleeding through his voice.
Twilight glanced to the side, a kernel of shame burgeoning in the back of his mind.
“Look, if you want to keep walking this road--I won’t stop you. Just know--this burden is not yours alone.”
Twilight looked to Valor, staring back at him--and nodded.
“I understand...thank you”
Valor smiled, fierce pride burning bright within him.
“Then I think we’re settled, unless you’d still prefer me to leave?”
Twilight chuckled.
“Only if you can’t keep up.”
angst/comfort. idk why the end is spaced out like that but i cant fix it soo.. also this is an extremeeely old draft so im sorry if its bad :’)
"shit.." you caved onto one knee, blood pooling onto the ground from the cracks between the knife wound. you thought he had died, but earth 2’s yoru managed to lodge his whole knife straight through your ankle, the sharp end coming out the other side. your brain buzzed as you could barely feel the pain through all the adrenaline. you noticed yourself moving slower, dragging your now useless leg on the ground. there was two of jett's knives lodged in your shoulder, who was put down by you before she could retrieve them. along with an upsetting array of bullet wounds in different parts.
you leaned forward behind some cover and propped yourself against it. safe enough away from the site to not be hit by the spike, or be found by any copies. you tucked yourself into the corner of a showers and waited. pulling one leg to your chest since the other hurt too bad.
"(name), i can't see your location on site. where are you?" you moved slowly and sluggishly, putting a finger to your earpiece to activate the system. "i'm down a-site. just a stab wound, needed to stop and keep pressure on it." you lied through your teeth, holding your bloody side as you sucked a breath through your teeth. "i'll be on my way when this is taken care of, y/n." cypher assured, as sage volunteered to follow after him during clean up. you weakly smiled and waited patiently for your friends. barely keeping it together as your friends carried. you sleepily laid your head against the wall, half lidded eyes so tired but still fighting to stay open. in the distance you could vaguely hear the spike go off, as well as the click of a camera. you smiled 'cypher's cam must be here.'
aamir, true to his word left as soon as the mission ended for a showers. sage staying behind to help before following him later.
"my dear, are you alright?" cypher asked as he leaned down to cup your face, he felt himself freeze in terror for a moment. your face was paler than usual, there was a streak of blood under your nose as well as red bubbling from your lips, head leaning against the wall in exhaustion from fighting the urge to sleep. one leg straight against the floor with a knife still currently in it. two knives in your arm and a bullet wound in your stomach, other arm, and upper thigh. "oh no, please" he muttered weakly as he fell unto his knees and grabbed your face. your eyes were empty and distant, but when they landed on him they filled with warmth. you smiled at him, and for once he resented that smile. he never wanted to see blood pour from your face as you weakly tensed your muscles to smile for him. he was 12 different emotions right now, but the strongest one was fear. he gently tucked his arms under your knees and supported your upper half by your shoulders, forcefully wrapping your arm around his neck, to which you got the hint and held on tighter, breathing in deep despite the sharp aching in your lungs as he pulled you close to him. you didnt hear much after that, sometimes noise would filter through but other times it was just silent. cypher frantically called for sage to meet him halfway and started to carry you back to b site, she used her healing orb on you and then everyone moved to the dropship. then sage worked on the injuries her power couldn't heal. by the time you all landed back on base, she had removed all the knives and bullets and completely bandaged everything, she gave you one last healing orb before waking you up and sending you off. cypher was the first to greet you, silently taking hold of your arm and dragging you back to his room. when you got there, he ripped the mask off his face as if it had been suffocating him and grabbed you so gently by your face. you stared up at him with red cheeks as he examined your every feature, almost as if checking to make sure sage did everything right. he couldn't fight the tears surfacing in his eyes as you saw them and grabbed his face too. "oh, no, no. aamir, don't cry. it's alright." you reassured as you brushed your thumbs over his cheeks in the most tender way possible. his brows furrowed almost angrily. "why didn't you tell anyone when it happened." you smiled sadly and opened your mouth to explain but he let go of your face and wrapped his arms around your stomach and buried his face into your shoulder. tears flowing freely down his face as you gently stroked his hair. "they needed your eyes." you answered shortly, "and so did you, little bird." you frowned as his grip on you tightened ever so slightly. "you have to understand. i can't let this happen again. i need to protect you. please just promise no matter what, to let me help you." you blinked and smiled warmly, with a twinge of guilt.
"in our line of work, its hard to promise things like that." you trailed off, grabbing his hand gently and moving it so you could lock pinkies with him. "but for you, aamir, i will try."
radianite experiments
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[ gekko x gn!reader ] - a run-in with an animal experimented on with radianite leaves you injured. the recovery is hard, but the side effects are… interesting. gekko does his best to help you navigate them.
tags: kinda hurt/comfort, reader gets injured/is in an infirmary, mostly wholesome though
notes: requested by @krokrux ! i’m so sorry this took so long but i hope you enjoy it :D
Tumblr media
the first thing you noticed was voices. what exactly they were saying you didn’t know, but they were definitely speaking. one voice belonged to gekko, and the other was a stern, low voice that you couldn’t identify.
“…not that simple.” slowly, the noises seemed to register as words.
“just let me in there!” gekko’s voice spoke. he was upset about something.
“i can’t do that. their condition is still unstable.”
a few beats of silence followed. then, gekko spoke again. “alright. but the second anything changes, for better or for worse, you call me.”
“of course.” the voice seemed to soften ever so slightly.
you heard the click of a door shutting, and then soft footsteps walking towards you. it was at this moment that you finally realized your eyes were closed, although they felt far too heavy to open right now anyway. you tried to move, but your body felt entirely to heavy.
maybe you could go back to sleep for a few more minutes.
gekko was there the next time you woke up too. this time, his voice was quiet and soft. there wasn’t a voice speaking back this time either, but rather a soft warbling sound. one of his little buddies, presumably.
the next time you tried, your eyes opened without feeling so heavy. however, the bright lights of the room blinded you and they snapped shut again. you turned your head away from the ceiling and into the direction you had heard gekko.
“y/n?” he said, hopefulness in his voice. you just groaned and put your hand over your eyes. he seemed to realize how long it had been since your eyes had been met with harsh light. “sorry. one second.”
you heard him kick off a chair and jog away, before the lights overhead dimmed. this time when you tried to open your eyes, you watched as a disheveled gekko hurried back over to you.
he smiled at you, though worry still pinned his brows.
“are you okay? how are you feeling, cariño?” he said. he sat back down in the chair next to your bed in what looked to be the infirmary. his hand came up to gently smooth down your hair, brown eyes scanning your face.
you swallowed. your throat was so dry. “i’m-“ you tried to clear your throat before trying to speak again. “i’m alright. still waking up i think.”
“that’s ok. take your time. do you remember what happened?”
you blinked at the question. you remembered what happened vaguely, although bits and pieces were blurred or missing. of course you remembered being on a mission, stumbling across an old laboratory. there were old files scattered around, though the exact details have left your mind.
you remember hearing the low growl of something behind you. the thought to grab your gun and turn came too late, as the next few moments were a blur.
you remember a hybrid-like creature, you remember the pain in your arm and then suddenly the feeling of being unable to breathe. you remember the blueish glow of its eyes and a distance voice yelling. after that, everything goes black.
“for the most part.” you finally answer.
“alright. maybe that’s for the best.” gekko smiled at your softly.
“could i… could i get some water, maybe?” you asked. however long you had been out had been too long; your mouth was entirely too dry.
“oh, yes. of course. give me just one second, i’ll be right back.” gekko planted a kiss on your forehead before walking out of the room.
your mind began to wander again in his absence. what had the creature looked like, exactly? it was vaguely feline, although not exactly like any big cat you were familiar with. the markings resembled something like a leopard, although its size and build were much larger. and then there were the blueish markings along its body, and then— and then what was that itch running along your spine?
despite your fatigue, you couldn’t help but sit up.
as you did so, your bones felt… strange. it felt as though every bone and muscle in your body had fallen asleep, numb and completely void of feeling. and your eyes—damn—your eyes burned.
you stumbled out of the bed, desperately trying to get away from the strange feeling in your body that seemed to chase you. the bedside table tumbled in your movement. turning around to catch it, you noticed… paws?
and a tail. a tail. that’s what had knocked over the table.
okay. maybe you were still dreaming. that was definitely feasible.
an attempt to speak resulted in a weird chirp coming from your throat. you took a deep breath and walked toward where you knew a mirror to be, but you were not met with the familiar figure that always stared back at you.
instead, you looked at a creature akin to that of the one that had attacked you. your lips curled to flash sharp fangs, and muscles rippled under the dark fur. maybe you weren't dreaming. you knew that radivore wounds hadn't been studied enough, but this was something entirely new.
a shark crack sounded behind you. you turned quickly, ignoring the tail that thumped the mirror. gekko stood in the doorway of the infirmary, the glass of water he had went to get for you now shattered on the floor.
"y/n?"
you tried to say something, anything, but all that came out was a chuffing sound. gekko's eyes softened. he stepped over the broken glass and walked carefully over to you. his hands were raised in caution, but he made his way over nonetheless. he crouched when he was within a few feet of you, and extended his hand.
you nudged his hand gently. he smiled at the action and seemed to relax, but was still cautious as he ran a hand over your head and ran his fingers through the tufts of fur at the side of your face.
"i'm sorry, my love," he spoke softly. "we recovered the files on some of the radivores they experimented on, but we weren't sure which one had attacked you. do you know how to change back?"
you shook your head and backed away from the soft hand running through your fur. you didn't know, but you could give it a try. thinking about the creature had let you morph into it, could it be that simple to change back?
you closed your eyes and pictured yourself. from every curve of your face to the shape of your hair, you imagined what you look like. the familiar ache behind your eyes and itch running along your spine came back.
when you opened your eyes, you recognized your own hands.
relief washed over gekko's face. he reached toward you again and pulled you into a hug. his face was buried into the crook of your neck, deeply inhaling your scent.
"i'm so glad you're okay." his voice was quiet when he spoke.
"me too." you laughed.
he pulled away, but kept a hand resting lightly on your arm. he took a deep breath. "i think i know which radivore it was. i'm going to go grab the file. stay here, you probably don't need to go adventuring in your current condition."
you nodded. he placed another kiss on your forehead before he left.
alone once more, your mind began to wander. was that creature the only thing you could turn into? you thought of several other animals at first, thinking of different things you might be able to mimic. eventually, you settled on a smaller animal. you think hes an animal, anyway.
slowly, you changed and morphed into something with a likeness to wingman. it felt... strange. amusing, but strange.
it wasn't long until gekko returned, only to find wingman sitting in the spot he had left you. he looked at you curiosly, before checking that wingman was still snug in his bag.
"no way." he laughed.
when you laughed back, it came out more so like a warbling sound than you thought. you changed back to your usual self, growing more and more familiar with the odd sensation of morphing. maybe you were going to like this more than you thought.
gekko blinked. "i'm never going to get used to that."
you just smiled at him and walked over to join him. he sat the file down on a counter, flipping to a few pages over and showing you a photo of the creature you were now familiar with. you were upset that it had attacked you, but looking at the creature now you were painfully aware that it was just a scared animal.
"i thought this was the one you had changed to. is it the one that attacked you?"
"yep."
"at least we know which radivore it was." gekko said, huffing. "essentially, they took a chameleon's ability to change color and cranked it up to a thousand. spliced a bunch of DNA from some other animals into it. leopard, bear, wolverine, some other stuff i can't remember off the top of my head. i think they even pulled some ‘jurassic park’-esque shit somewhere in there."
you sighed. "so that means i've got a whole hell of a lot thats going to change?"
his eyes softened when he looked at you. he closed the manilla folder that contained experiment and slid it over on the counter. "we don't have to look at it now. you need your rest anyway. but we will do it together, okay? whatever happens, i'm here."
Blood was everywhere. Everything was blurry. Your body felt weak and you see a familiar black and blue-haired male in front of you. "Yo..Yoru?" You gasped, trying to regain your strength to stand up. But no matter how hard you tried, you felt so numb and tired. What happened? Oh, that's right. All were in battle. Yoru was injured badly, and so were you. "Don't move, it's okay now, we won.." He caressed your hair, weakly smiling at your figure. Your eyes started tearing up at the sight of Yoru. You felt happy to see your friends and allies safe and sound. But you happen to realize what made you feel so numb.
"Ryo.. I don't feel any more pain, I'm going to die soon."
His eyes widened at first, but they eventually softened. Yoru whispers with a sweet tone,
"Worry not, I'll die soon as well. You aren't alone." You looked at him puzzled and afraid. Worry overflowed your eyes. "N-no..! Ryo, you can't die..! I'm sorry, if I was more of help this would've neve-" "What? Stop talking shit like that. Remember the day I met you?" Despite wanting to say something else, if this was the last time you see him, you'd just go by his words. You smile at him with tears in your eyes, "Course I do, my first day at the Oyakata's mansion, got lost 'n you helped me.." He shook his head in disagreement, and his hand cupped your cheek. "It was you who saved me. You looked into every detail and every part of me, your laugh was like music to my ears, even though being a Hashira is difficult, you kept a smile on your face. I love talking to you.. so I won't let anyone talk shit about you."
What? Did Yoru really just say that? He looked so sincere, his eyes were starting to form tears. Your smile grew wider by the second, with all your strength you reached out for his face. "Oh Ryo..! I love you so much! Every meal we share together makes me feel so joyful, you always looked at me with a kind heart and eyes.. Please, if we were to ever be reborn as humans once again.. Will you make me your wife?" Yoru blushed at your words, but he felt so blurry and everything started to fade to black. This was your and his end, together. He hugged you tightly, and started to weep. "Of course I will, I'll protect you from every asshole in this fuckin' world."
"I love you, Ryo Kiritani." "I love you more."
Suddenly, everything finally faded to black. It all felt like a deep sleep with your lover, not until one day. You woke up, got ready for the day and went outside. People were everywhere. You were excited to work for your new café job as a barista. You ran to the direction where it was until- THUMP! A hand reached out to help you get up, "My bad." ┗━•❃°•°🍰 °•°❃•━┛ -fic
Polaris - Cyberowl Oneshot
sova x cypher | melancholy fluff? (forgot the real term lol) | oneshot 543 words warnings: mention of family death
We resemble each other We live holding the same memories I’m happy that it’s you Among those numerous connections Among those numerous people [Polaris - Dreamcatcher]
It was early. Not as early as it could have been, but still more early than Sasha have liked. He reached over to his bedside table to silence the alarm chirping from his communicator - his head not appreciating the shrill sound.
He sighed with relief as the alarm was silenced and drooped back into the mattress, returning his arm to Amir's waist.
His thick curls were spread out against Sasha's bicep where his head lay, slightly obscuring his eyes. Sasha brushes the locks out of the way before leaning in to kiss his eyelids.
Amir grunts and rearranges, still deep asleep. This wasn't unusual - Amir didn't sleep very often, but when he did he slept hard. Many times he'd be awoken at the last minute to make it on time to missions, much to Brimstone's irritation.
No one could blame him though, the overwhelming role of information master was a mind-breaking and entirely consuming position. To know and curate and protect and hide the information of everyone you knew, loved, and fought beside was psychologically agonising.
Sasha began trailing kisses down Amir's face, peppering gentle kisses down his nose and cheeks and lips until he slowly began to stir.
"Amir, I know you're awake now." Sasha teases, smiling at the (weak) attempt to fake being sleep.
"No." Amir nearly croaks back, voice rough from sleeping.
"Yes. I need to go soon." Amir grunts at Sasha's words, tightening his hold on Sasha's waist.
It would take another 10 minutes of kisses and persuading until Amir would finally let up his hold on Sasha.
As always, Amir left the room first, triple checking his cams before heading out to ensure he wouldn't be seen. Sasha knew that he'd spend the first few minutes back at his desk erasing and doctoring the footage to guarantee his tracks were covered.
It always hit him in a tender spot to be Amir's secret, but he'd made peace with it. Amir was a paranoid man - no one with the compulsion to install cameras in every possible corner wasn't. His past losses had shattered his spirit in a way that Sasha hadn't felt before.
Sure, Sasha had felt his share of heartache and trauma, but he'd never lost his deepest love before - let alone a child.
It was the topic of several arguments between the pair, but it boiled down to this - Amir is scared of losing the people he loves. Amir loves Sasha. Amir worries that if someone on the other side were to find out about him and Sasha, that Sasha would become a target.
He would not lose Sasha.
Though there was guilt and sadness on both ends about the cover-up, they'd both agreed long ago that this is how it would be. Amir would keep Sasha safe. Sasha would keep Amir happy.
Sasha stood and began dressing for the mission, physically and mentally preparing to fight for his life and ability to come home to Amir.
It wasn't ideal for either of them, but it was theirs. It was their little slice of reality that they'd claimed to hold and to share and to cherish. It was a piece of the world that was only for them.
Among the numerous people and connections, they were together.
AN: first fic back to writing in about 5? maybe 6 years! very rusty and wanted to kinda dust off the writing skills w this short one lol - hope you enjoyed :)
sorry for any/all grammar or spelling errors, it was written all in one sleep deprived writing session at like 2am <3
Stay for this song
Quick one shot for tremorbolt. Will post on AO3 when I wake up :p
~900words. Nightmares, insomnia, comfort. Under the keep reading line.
Breach woke up to an empty bed. Well, not quite empty. Bamse was still there, but no Sova. He sat up to reach for his phone. It was almost one in the morning. He looked around for any signs of where Sova could’ve gone, but did not find much. No note, nothing, but his phone was missing, as were his ear buds. Other than Breach, he was probably the last person in the protocol who still used a wired connection for music. Even Raze switched a couple years ago.
So, where would he go with his music at this hour?
Well… There was only one answer to that. It was strange though, normally, when Sova had a bad dream, he would wake Breach up. Or, he would wake Bamse up, who in turn would wake Breach up. There was no winning in terms of sleep.
This was one game he didn’t care to win though. When the initial confusion faded, he sighed and put on some actual clothes. He had to go find his boyfriend.
As he predicted, he heard the soft humming even before he saw the messy blond hair. Quietly, trying to successfully sneak up on Sova for once, he took slow steps towards him. Then, just as Breach was about to reach out and hold his shoulders, both to startle him and keep him on the roof just in case, Sova turned and smiled.
“I was hoping you would not wake up for me this time,” he said.
Breach just shook his head as he sat down next to Sova. “Yeah, and I was hoping to scare you for once. We both didn’t get what we wanted. That makes us even, no?”
He felt Sova shift and offer him one of the earbuds. Even though he wasn’t a fan of the electrobeats Sova often listened to, he took it, and wrapped his arm around Sova so that his head could lean on Breach’s chest.
The steady rhythm of Sova’s breaths, the weight of his head, and the night sky. Breach felt himself get lulled into a sleep-like state, even while sitting up.
“You should go inside and sleep, Breach. I will be ok.”
It was just like Sova to think about Breach when he had just come back from back to back missions and ten hours of sleep over four days. Breach was tired too, b he has never been asked to do what Sova does now. Nor would he ever accept if Brimstone gave him that order.
But Sova was different. In every way, Sova was different from Breach.
And it was nice.
“Not if it means I leave you here alone. Tell me about what happened.”
Sova turned his face to nuzzle against Breach, a small sign of appreciation. “The mission was fine.”
“I meant your dream. A successful mission has never taken you out of bed before.”
There were times where that was all it took for Sova to spill. As Breach waited, it became clearer that he would need to press him.
“Come on, Alex.” That normally got Sova to lower his guard a little. Though, not as good as saying, “Sash… You know you feel better when you tell me. Your therapist is here, come on.”
Sova rolled his eyes. “I am not looking for a therapist.”
“Then I can be just yours.”
They sat for a little longer, though Sova pulled away a little. “I had a dream that I died. But it was protecting you, so I did not mind.” Breach reached out to hold his hand.
Sova continued, “In the dream, I woke up. And I believe myself to be awake. So, I went to find you, only…”
The hesitation alone was strange to hear from Sova. The way his hand shook for just a second before grabbing Breach’s outstretched hand was hard to see.
“You did not know me, and you…” Sova scoffed. “It was nothing I have not heard before. It was just a dream. You and I are alive, and you do not hate me. Go back to bed. I would like to stay awake for a little longer.”
He pulled away from Breach, but Breach did not get up. When Sova noticed that, he looked at Breach again. “I do not mind. I know you are tired, and I am taking your rest from you. Please, go back to bed.”
“No. You might not mind, but you forgot the most important opinion here: mine.” Breach even pointed his thumb at himself, and smiled when he saw the little curl on Sova’s lips. “I want to stay up with you. You’ve been gone for so long, so I just want to catch up.”
Sova gave him a weak shove, more to accentuate his point than actually move him.
“Erik.”
“Sasha.”
Sova leaned over and pressed his lips to Breach’s cheek. “You’re cold.”
“We can be cold together out here. For as long as you need. I’m here.”
These battles of who could be more stubborn could go either way, or stall out, but Sova couldn’t hide the slightest but of blush on his cheeks. Breach was rarely this serious with him - they both knew it. Still, whether he was joking or not, Breach meant his promises to Sova. Always.
With a sigh, Sova shifted closer to lean against Breach again. “To the end of this song. Then we will go back together.”
