Embarrassing as it was, he was nearing tears as he hugs her tight. Too long was an understatement! It's been three days, Mari! He sighs, at least it's finally over. This time. "I know, just please stop hiding for so long or jumping out so fast. It scares everyone when we can't find you anywhere..." Oh, right, the kids... "We should go tell the others you're here, now."

"Hehe sorry, sorry! as an apology how about we cook something together? Your choice!" she smiles happily, patting his head as she lets the poor boy embrace her as tightly as he needs. Honestly, she didn't think she would be gone for that long.

"I'm sure the others will be coming after me, I hope I didn't make them too worried. Has Omori been okay while I was gone?"

The game is going surprising well for him so far; this hand has to be a winner! Hero licks his lips in anticipation, glancing back at the table with the rest of the cards.

After a moment he feels a gaze searing his skin, and looks back up around the room. On the book counter, Mari was sat watching the game with her chin propped up on one hand next to Aubrey and Sunny. Upon their eyes meeting her smile widens a little. His cheeks warm a moment and he smiles back wide, showing teeth.

Looking back down at the table, his face falls immediately at a better hand laid out in the middle by one of the other boys. Typical luck...

"Oh, silly...you worry too much!" Mari said as she brushes off her knees from hiding nearby. She didn't expect for Hero to get that worry, it was just a little spook but maybe she waited too long to come out.

The song ends abruptly, his arms freezing in place. Of course it hadn't helped. Maybe, had he chosen a different song, Hero could have done something good. Biting his lip, his hands slowly move back to his sides on the bench where he sits another moment.

"Ah.... I'm sorry, I just thought that, maybe..." He sighs and stands back up, turning to see Mari's expression. It hurt, but he wished still that she would look him in the eyes. Someday, eventually, she would again surely, he will just have to continue trying.

"Can I do anything else for you before I go...?"

"I... Guess it's the same as usual, just not as fun or exciting without you," he rubs the back of his head, trying to keep an awkward smile on. He opens his mouth to continue and ask if she would be returning soon, but stops himself. It may be better to...wait another time than push her. After all, she's at least letting him back in now, don't want to lose that, too

Closing his mouth again, his eyes drop to the floor and study the grainy pattern of the wood. Hero wonders for a moment if she had been the one who kept the room clean, or her mother. "...Have you been taking care of yourself? Like showers, and eating... Not that I think you look dirty or anything!..."

He almost sits down on the bench again, but thinks twice and moves away from the piano instead, stepping back toward the chairs near the door instead.
