This fucking video. This shit is GOLD. Pure, underrated gold. Let me tell you why:

The whole thing is an homage from Toast's perspective to his interactions with Rae in game. We have three games. The first two are cool, but they're just buildup so I'll go over them quickly:

In the first one, Rae is crewmate and Toast is imposter. Toast wins, but it's Hafu who did the main work. That's not important. What's important is that a) Toast knows he has to kill Rae first, although he never gets to; and b) just from the way Toast and Hafu play the meetings and like one piece of info outside that, Rae susses them out. She knows exactly who the imposters are by the end, and even though Toast and Hafu win (I mean what do you expect; not only is it Toast and Hafu, but this is a Toast video xD), Rae is still certain they're the imposters off of nothing, to the point where in the last vote she is 100% confident on voting Toast off of literally no ingame evidence and has a full explanation as to why at the end. In the end it proves Toast right - killing Rae was the single easiest way to end the game xD

The second game is with Rae and Toast as imposters together. In this one, Rae spends the first round stacking with four people the entire time, while Toast gets two kills and inadvertently makes her look insanely clear. Then, once the stage is set and Rae has the trust of the entire crew, she makes two of the most masterful plays a social imposter has ever made. First, she and Corpse walk in on Toast killing at lights. He was late in getting out, Rae saw him jump into the vent with imposter vision, but Corpse was with her so she couldn't not report. Did Corpse see who it was? If he had, she would give herself away by covering for him. But (based on how Corpse reacts, I'm sure) she does it anyway; she lies and says she saw the vent close but not who it was. And it works; Corpse didn't see, and Toast gets off Scott free. Then in the ensuing discussion, she pulls off a flawless marination, using her incredibly clear behavior to take the fact that Edison has been following her the entire time and turn it on its head by lying and saying she barely saw him. Because she was clear and Edison wasn't this turns the entire crew against him, he gets votes out, and the rest of the game is easy. Beautiful social imposter; never got sussed, just played diplomat to Toast's murderous rampage. The SYNERGY.

But you know what, those are just appetizers to the beautiful play that happens in the third game. It's not just because of them, it's just a perfect story all around. I'm gonna bullet point this whole thing:

So we go in and Toast is crewmate and thinking he's gonna go sicko mode on some imposters. He follows Rae into medical and they medscan each other. Cleared.

Then they stack on the vent for the rest of the round xD Toast laments the fact that he won't be gigabraining, but you gotta commit to the bit there, so oh well.

Body gets reported. Charlie instantly accuses Chad and Lauren. Chaos breaks out in the call.

Charlie claims his game glitched and he saw someone die in electrical, through the wall. He goes over and finds Chad and Lauren exiting the crime scene.

Lauren claims that she was in there alone with Chad. Doors got closed, they danced around each other for a bit, they walk out, body gets reported. They never saw a thing.

Rae, who was just a bit south of Toast, says she saw the vent in Security move. (I've watched this plenty of times, and yeah, even through the fast forward you can just barely see it move on Toast's screen an instant before the body is reported.)

In discussion some people accuse, some people question, but nothing is decided and they skip. The meeting ends. Toast and Rae never said they were medscanned.

Toast and Rae move together in the next round. They make it halfway around the map and run into Chad and Lauren, who are still together.

Rae immediately reports this, because wtf lmao, and accuses them of looking for a double kill.

Sykkuno died this round and they're immediately accused of it. Their trust in each other starts breaking up as they begin to wonder whether they're clear but the other is not.

ShowThyme doubts the sus on Lauren and Chad, but Rae, Smajor, and Gloom are very confident.

Again, no decisions, aside from Chad and Lauren choosing to split up this time, and the meeting ends.

Toast and Rae hang out again. Toast spends the whole time confused, but begins to suspect Smajor and Gloom.

The body is called. By Chad.

It's a bit difficult to tell because he's cry-laughing so hard, but he hard accuses Gloom, and Gloom accuses him back. One of them saw the other kill.

Chad is having such a bad time here xD He's getting hard accused from every side, everything is pointing his way. He keeps saying he doesn't even want to report a body, he's so sus.

Toast calls the button this next time. He's looking to verify information, but the discussion just instantly devolves into chaos. Everybody is so confident; Gloom is certain it's Chad, Lauren is certain that some shit is happening. But Toast and ShowThyme are struggling to believe it's only one of them and not both.

Meeting ends with seven alive, and Lauren and Chad make the decision to again move together. That way if one of them dies then we know the answer.

Toast starts worrying this round. A sabotage is called and everybody is split up. "An isolated kill into a double kill loses us the game."

He passes Gloom and fast forwards through the chase, and you can barely see Smajor walking away from admin a second before Toast walks in and finds ShowThyme's dead body.

The crew list comes up.

Lauren is dead.

Chad is shocked; he again has no idea what happened. Toast assures him that this clears him, then hard accuses Smajor.

Smajor claims he was coming from weapons. Toast doesn't care, he knows at this point.

A lot of things happen here. Chad continues having a breakdown. Smajor defends himself.

And Rae starts asking questions.

She asks if everyone thinks it's Toast. Toast asks if it's her in response, but the only thing anybody else really says is Gloom, who finally, for the first time in the game, realizes that she knows nothing about what Toast and Rae have been doing.

Rae asks her in response: "Gloom and Smajor, do you guys think it's each other."

They waffle.

They don't just waffle. They say they don't know anything for sure, but despite there being no information about them either, they don't sus each other.

Immediately after Gloom was so happy to redirect her suspicion to Rae and Toast? Rae laughs. No way; it's so obviously Gloom and Smajor at this point.

Toast closes the deal. He turns to Chad, ignoring the other two. "Chad, you saw Gloom kill, right?" "Yes." "Chad, I'm gonna vote Gloom, ok?"

Three votes lock in Gloom at the same time, with Smajor accepting the result and voting for her afterwards.

And as the voting screen disappears and Gloom is kicked out of the airlock, Rae finally provides the bit of information Rae and Toast have been holding on to the entire game. They've med scanned each other. They're clear.

You'd think it was over, and it is, but there's one more round and we gotta play it out. Imposters call lights, and Rae misplays just a bit by going with Toast to turn them back on. Toast doesn't have button, he can't hang back, but she could have.

They rush to the lights and turn them on.

As they come back, they find Smajor waiting at the entrance to cafeteria.

He closes doors on them. Both of them make it through

They both run for it, taking opposite sides of the meeting table so Smajor can't chase them both, and in that situation Smajor makes the final mistake of the game. Not the most important one, that was his hubris in believing the game was over in round one, but the last.

Instead of killing Toast, he kills Rae.

If he had killed Toast, it might have been a different story. Toast didn't acknowledge that he and Rae were med scanned when Rae said it. If he had targeted Toast, maybe he could have leveraged that, could have been like "hey, Rae was lying last round, I just figured it out, it's her". Maybe he had a play there, maybe he could have convinced Chad somehow.

But he didn't. Idk what he was thinking; maybe he knew Rae had the button and so thought it was more important to kill her, but whatever the reason, he kills Rae instead of Toast. And so it rings hollow when Toast reports the body and lets Smajor speak first, and he is forced to say "Chad, Toast just killed Rae in the cafeteria."

Check, and mate. Toast casually reminds Chad of Rae's last words, informing everyone just before she died that she and Toast were medscanned. She died. That confirms it; they're not imposters because she wouldn't have died, so she must not have been lying. Toast is clear, Chad knows he's a crewmate, and that means the remaining imposter must be...

And two votes lock in for Smajor at the same time. Smajor, admitting his defeat, follows soon after.

I just. This shit is art - a perfect detective story played out in a seemingly unremarkable game of Among Us. We have a full list of archetypes here, and everyone played their role to perfection. Charlie, the instigator, setting the tone of the entire game before dying and taking his information with him (at the end he confirms that it was definitely a glitch). Lauren and Chad, the suspects and red herrings, sus from round one and totally thrown off kilter, making mistakes all over the place but totally free of wrongdoing. ShowTyme, the bystander and the primary dissenting opinion, all but fated to die to progress the narrative (and that's exactly what happened).

Gloom and Smajor, the killers. They saw the story unfolding and they knew just what to do. It should have been an easy win - just throw Lauren and Chad under the bus and call it a day. It should have been easy, and in their hubris they totally missed the thread leading to their downfall.

Toast. The master detective. It doesn't matter if he thought he wouldn't be able to gigabrain, he pulled it off anyway. He pieced together the actual story without ever actually seeing anything happen himself. Until, that is, the very end, well after he knew the answer, when he finally caught the second killer in the act.

And Rae. The perfect sidekick for Toast. She knew exactly what to say and when. The ace in the hole for Toast, all but guaranteeing him a safety card to play at the right time. She saw the first hole in Charlie's setting. She may have been fooled for a second in round two, but it only served to strengthen the narrative and cement Gloom and Smajor's belief that this would be easy. When all the cards were on the table, she asked two questions that brought it all together and confirmed that it wasn't just sus on Gloom and Smajor, but rather sus on Gloom and Smajor. She played their ace at just the right time, and in dying she sealed the deal, making Toast unquestionably innocent and leaving no doubt whatsoever as to who the imposter was.

Idk y'all. This is better than Toast's big clutches to me. This game was perfect, the culmination of everything Among Us could ever be narratively. I have to wonder at what point Gloom and Smajor began to see the cracks in their victory, at what point they realized that no, this was not in their hands, this was never their game to win. What must Smajor have thought when he killed Rae? Did he suddenly realize that he had sealed his own fate? Did he still have hope, or did he give up when Gloom was voted out?

And what about Lauren and Chad? Lauren was so confused and panicked the whole time; how did she react when she died? And how must Chad have felt when ShowThyme's body was reported and he looked at the meeting list and saw Lauren dead too? Wasn't he just with her?? I can't imagine he believed that the game was anything but lost, and I wish I knew the relief he felt when Toast turned to him and told him don't worry, it's ok, I'm on your side, and then voted Gloom off first with him in solidarity. That moment at the climax of all the action where he thought he was lost, when the burden was suddenly taken off his shoulders and he realized he was safe, that this was never Gloom's game to win, that it wasn't big brain versus small brain and he had had backup the whole time.

Idk. It's just. Beautiful :')

Hi it's the Slate anon again um. I love your posts on botw modern AUs just imagining all the antics they would get into. You know they would all have a group chat together, Urbosa writes with proper punctuation and everything, every one of Zelda's messages is programmed to sign with "Her Royal Highness Zelda Bosphoramus Hyrule CCLXXVII" and Daruk writes every single thing in all caps. Link as quiet as he is means every time they see "Link is typing..." it's a national event (and it ends up being "ok" or "🫡")

Daruk would have a long distance game night every week for a "bonding session" but an hour each time is spent in him figuring out how to turn on the camera for the video call. Mipha invites Zelda, Revali and link to her animal crossing island and Zelda does nothing but fill the museum with animals while revali spends an embarrassing amount of time decorating the island. A Mario kart session nearly led to the murder of multiple champions

consistency is so important when it comes to creating content. that anon had a great example with foolish and the otv people, while they may not be the biggest creators, poki has averaged 8-10k for literally half a decade (and probably even longer, but thats around the time i discovered her) and that is so so important, same with valkyrae, while she had a great jump with among us, she used to average 3-5k on twitch (before the switch to youtube) and all those viewers followed her to youtube and have stuck around, she has a great average even after among us hype died down.

that's one of the biggest reason dteam has fallen down so hard, they have no consistency and it didn't even start this year, its been since late 2021 when they started being flaky with content. while dream still maintains a good youtube viewership, you can tell the diehard youtube fans have gone away quite a lot, and drolos can excuse it and say that maintaining such a high average is next to impossible but i feel had dream continued posting content semi regularly instead of disappearing for almost a year out of youtube he could've done that.

and while we all mock sapnap for his viewership i mean,,,,, it's still more consistent than dream's, and the same with george, he's maintained a pretty good twitch community throughout all this.

Like Sykkuno and Corpse and Valkyrae and all those people. I'll still watch Sykk or Rae or Fuslie/Leslie(Years later, Leslie has ended up being my favorite I think) on occasion. Some of you may know I used to run a decent sized Sykkuno blog during his OG GTA days)
