listen both hytham and eivor were orphaned as young children and were taken in and saved by a family that became their own and in return they became warriors devoted to that family and to the person who saved them, both of them followed that family from their homes and across the known world because of their love, they both had to build a new home for their people, and then they were both abandoned and betrayed by that family who left them in favor of being sages, the love lost in the face of unfathomable ancient memories, and despite losing everything again they became the leaders of their people despite never thinking they could, despite always being in another's shadow, and they did it together, and this is why hytham/eivor should have been canon, them finding each other and building a new family in the wake of the one they lost, their causes the same, choosing love and hope in the face of so much grief

Story idea:

Before Team RWBY and Jaune leave the Ever After, jaune says he doesn't see what they see. He doesn't see the glowing door that would take them home, only another branch.

They claim there was a door it was open for them, but he can't see it. While they question why Jaune can't see them, he knows why... he's not ready yet. He suggested that they go on without him, but they would try to argue even more so when the door is slowly closing on them. With some arguing, they reluctantly go, but before they leave, Jaune tosses the rusted crocea mors....along with what remains if Pyrrha's sash wrapped around.

Honestly, this is all I got. With what I wrote before with 'Knights Test' and the emergence of God of War Valhalla. Figured there is more that Jaune can tackle cause it kinda feels like the stuff with paper pleasers was at least surface level, and I know there's other issues he's got.....like his imposter syndrome, self worth issues. The only thing I can't think of is....who is he gonna fight at the end of it all?

when eivor, who has spent most of her life feeling nothing but resentment and shame toward her dead father, finally realizes that she understands why he did what he did.

when she understands why he laid down his axe, the very same axe she holds now, in the futile hope that his daughter, his wife, and the rest of his people would be spared, only for most of his people to be slaughtered anyway.

when eivor finally realizes, through years of acting as a leader to her people, why varin did what he did, in opposition to everything she has ever been taught to value.

when she realizes that she too would make the exact same choice her father did, her cowardly father, because she too would die in dishonour if it offered even the slightest chance to save her loved ones.

when eivor, who has spent her life trying to justify her existence by being useful, accepts that her parents died because they loved her, not because she didn't do enough.

when she is holding the very same axe now that her father held then and the high one himself is offering her wisdom and glory and power and she, like her father before her, drops her axe and turns her back and chooses love instead.
