53. Are there any plot-holes or questions you have about any of the games that you wish would be resolved?

When the Final Fantasy X Ultimania came out, there was talk about the spiritual connection between X and VII. Anyone who played X-2 obviously at the minimum raised an eyebrow at the name ShinRa. What are we supposed to do with that information?

For those who don’t know, basically Rin gives Shinra money to investigate the Farplane and basically utilize the underworld as an alternative energy source, or something like that? It’s thought that while Shinra couldn’t achieve this within his lifetime, we’re to assume that his descendants would become the ShinRa family of VII, and that ultimately the concept of pyreflies would later just become the dead and the cycle of death and life would not be one of merely reincarnation, as Seymour suggests, but of the Lifestream. While this is interesting information, like what does what mean for the unsent? What happens to sending as a phenomenon? I suppose it just doesn’t happen anymore since there’s no more summoners after X anyway technically, but… then you have the Cetra, who are innately connected to the spirits. Are these like the descendants of those who had summoner capabilities? This just brings more questions than anything else.

And while we’re talking about VII, we can discuss a little bit more of the Calamity of the Skies, and in general the overall universe. I’ve always enjoyed that it does address the idea of an entire universe, or at least a galaxy. It’s not just Gaia out there, or Gaia + a moon ( sorry IV ), or Gaia + Alt Gaia ( looking at you, Cocoon & Gran Pulse, Gaia + Terra ). There’s an entire system out there. And we understand that this Calamity is known to go to different planets and vigorously suck the life out of them– I think it’s Bugenhagen that brings this up. 

Then, in Dirge of Cerberus they discuss how Omega is the failsafe to this problem: how, if a calamity were to come to suck the life out of the planet, then Omega is supposed to awaken, suck the life out of the world, transport them to a world that’s habitable for life, and then theoretically spit them out and restore the life cycle on this new planet. 

My question is… why didn’t this happen? Neither when Jenova hit, nor when geostigma occurred, did Omega wake up. What’s considered a serious enough calamity? They suggest that Meteor is that calamity– and perhaps we could have seen a cool fight between Omega and Sephiroth: the battle for life. I would pay money for that. But it will never happen.

The lore in VII is dumb and broken. I said it.

Finally… I discovered this while I was trying to come up with my Dissidia verse, but… the original Dissidia verse was Chaos and Cosmos, but then in Opera Omnia and NT there’s Spiritus and Materia. Who are y’all? Alternative universe gods? Servants of the other big gods? Are Chaos and Cosmos even major gods, or is there like a system / hierarchy of main gods and demigods out there? Is this really like some Greek / Roman mythology happening? Are summons demigods? Can people lowkey like mate with Astrals– is that the little thing happening between Shiva and Ardyn in XV? Or are we going with the whole summons are reincarnated people with stronger spirits, that vibe that was in X?

We’re not even gonna start talking about The Goddess according to Genesis & Loveless, or even the actual gods in-universe like Da Chao, Etro and Bhunivelze. 

Look. I don’t think Square thought too hard about any of this. But for a small fee, they could remedy this. They can hire a small team of me & my friends who would love to sit around and meta, to fix all these plot-bunnies they left us with. It’s like archaeology, but for their creativity. I think that’s a great new career, don’t you?

Character in general: i’ve talked about her previously but i will say this again : I LOVE MY QUEEN.How they play them: i haven’t interacted much with their muse but i’ve seen a few threads andsuch and i have to say, i’m impressed with their portrayal. i think they have a good handle on herand i would love to interact with their lunafreya to see how far her gorgeous portrayal goes.The Mun: again, haven’t interacted with them much but i would like to, darling!!
